Restless is exactly how Reid Hurst has felt his entire life, controlled by his father, manipulated by his older sister and just completely done with the high society life he was born into. Full to the brim with drama galore, teenage girl bullying and angst and my heart ached for the trials and tests these characters had to face but seeing them overcome them made me feel like a proud mum.
Move over girls, it’s time for Maya to have her say! Ever since I met Maya in Elle’s books and the little hints we got about her just drew me in immediately. Maya is the opposite of Reid, junkie parents, growing up in poverty and in the East River Projects she’s lucky to be alive every single day. Her life has been tough, but that has made her in to the resilient and determined girl that she is no matter what curveballs are thrown her way. Aspiring writer, her dreams are bigger than anything, her innocence, imagination and creativity just brighten everyone’s day and she’s such a romantic. Maya is like a fish out of water, she's so different to the girls at pembroke and just felt so real that I was able to connect with her on a deeper level.
Reid Hurst is a coward, he had me raging and hurling obscenities at him one minute and then wanting to give him a hug in the next second. I just wanted to scream at him when Addison was manipulating him, his blind devotion of his sister was so infuriating. Putting her up so high on a pedestal it was impossible for him to see the truth. His moments with Maya however were my favourite parts, until it got to around 80%. However, there were alot to times I just wanted to shake him, when he was whining about his life and I honestly don’t think I can hear anyone say it's complicated ever again.
Saint’s friendship with Maya is one of my favourite parts of the book, this gruff, blunt bad boy from the projects showing his vulnerable, soft side and protecting Maya like his own sister just had my heart melting for him.
I am honestly so gutted that this series is over and I have to say goodbye to these amazing characters and this incredible world this author had created. Being a six book series with different leading fmc’s meant that this has been a large part of my life recently and it feels like I’m cutting of a limb saying goodbye to it. Truly emotional and heartbreakingly good well worth the read!
