Jean Stokes has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Lucy and Alex. Lucy has been at college and called back home when her Aunt Alice passed away. Her father is not someone who she doesn't like to be around, he is a mean man. Caleb, her father tells her that Alice was killed by one of the werewolves. He tells her that he is going to find out who did it. Caleb blames Alex and a few other werewolves around town for Alice's death. This makes her think and she when to see Alex, the sheriff. She wants to see the death certificate and when she gets it, there is nothing there that would tell her anything. While she is reading the certificate, Alex was going over the medical report and saw that Alice had arsenic in her body. Alex tells Lucy this and she tells him that she doesn't know what it is. Lucy and Alex decided to work together to find out who killed Alice. Things happen and Lucy hears her mom and dad talking. She hears her father say something about killing Alice. This makes her think that maybe he was the one that killed her aunt. She decides to look to see what she could find. She finds a white powder in the trash. She calls Alex to let him know what she found. Alex had looked Lucy up on social media and he sees the photos with her and Chris. He thinks that she is seeing someone. He tells her that he has a test that can tell if it is arsenic or not. She has him come and pick her up and they go back to the station. While she is there and they are waiting on the test, her father shows up with some other people. Caleb gets them worked up by saying that Alex is the one who killed his sister. Alex tells Lucy to stay inside while he goes out to talk to the crowd. She is waiting for the test, Alex is trying to calm Caleb down. Lucy sees that the liquid with the white powder is turning a yellow color. She goes out the back door and walks around to the front of the station. She lets the crowd know that her father is the one who killed Alice. Alex arrested Caleb then.
Will things work out for Lucy and Alex now that her father is in jail?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Lucy Jameson is called home from College to attend her Aunts Funeral. She was young and died suddenly. After her funeral her father, Caleb Jameson goes to the Sheriff and accuses the werewolves of murdering his sister. Lucy is shocked and decides to investigate for herself.

Alex has been the Bordon Fall Sheriff for quite a while. The only reason he stays in that position is to protect the shifters from Caleb Jameson. If one of his people were sheriff the werewolves would have to leave town or spend most of their time in jail on false charges. When Caleb accuses the werewolves of murdering his sister he knows it is time to put an end to his reign of terror. He just has to find evidence against Caleb to arrest him for something. When Lucy comes to him asking about her Aunts death, he agrees to help her find out what really happened. Everyone just assumed it was natural causes. The more time they spend together, to greater the attraction is between them. Talk about waving a red flag in her fathers face. Her father threatens to kill her is she doesn’t stay away from Alex. When Alex gets the coroners report that reveals Lucy’s Aunt died from Arsenic poisoning they have to find out how and who poisoned her.

This is a fast paced book with lots of action and a fantastic ending to the series!

The Borden Falls series heats up with Apex Predator: Borden Falls 4
Lucy captivates me from the first paragraph on the first page. She's a tolerant human raised in a family that hates werewolves who comes back for her aunt's funeral. Her father, Caleb Jameson, blames werewolves for his sister's death. He just can't stop ranting and making it clear how he feels about werewolves in general and the cause of his sister's death in particular.

Romance grows naturally between Alex, the werewolf sheriff, and Lucy, the college student who only has to tolerate her family's prejudices for a few days before heading back to college. One question remains: is the aunt's death really by natural causes or did someone kill her?

I loved the chemistry between Lucy and Alex. Past characters from other Borden Falls novels make appearances in a seamless manner. Can these two have a full relationship with a well-deserved HEA or will Lucy's father destroy this budding love? Jump on for the ride as Lucy and Alex look to find out how her aunt actually died, and who did it - all while falling in love.

If you like your books with a sexy alpha hero and a fiercely independent sassy heroine, combined with drama, angst and mystery with liberal helpings of chemistry, steam and moments of swooning, you will find plenty of that here.
What I didn't like - the story felt a little rushed in some places and didn't always seem to follow a logical path, however, this is the first time I have read this author and I've not read this particular genre before, so perhaps it is par for the course.
What I did like - That there was some angst and a little soul searching for the characters to work through
What I really liked - That it had a HEA
What I loved - the underlying thread of acceptance for people who may be in a minority or different in some way, who some may find less acceptable because it pushes against cultural norms and the message that unconditional love can rise above challenges, be gentle yet strong and fulfilling.

Talk about instalove. There are so many things that are strange about this book that I don't know how or where to start.

It was a fast paced book that seemed very short, and easy to read. I didn't feel much of a connection between Alex and Lucy. I woukdnt exactly call their sex scenes steamy. Lucy was finishing college, so I had an idea of her age. I don't know if Alex's age was ever mentioned.

Lucy's father was foaming at the mouth crazy, and seemed to be a one man band. Lucy's mother was almost non existent in the story. I don't even know if the mother was given a name.

There were some very basic facts that seemed to be either overlooked or ignored. Unanswered questions or holes in the plot? This is the first book I have read in this series. Maybe you have to start at book one to keep from being conflicted or confused.

I would give this book 2.5 stars. Its not bad, but there is nothing that makes me want to read the previous books I missed.

Here we are on book four of the Borden Falls series. This is a great story. I love how Ms. Stokes brings in the characters from previous books so you can see how the books are intertwined. It can be a stand-alone BUT so you know more about Alex you should read the previous books. The couple is brought together because of a death in her family and she comes home from for it. He is a shifter, she is human. Her family dislikes shifters so will do pretty much anything to try and destroy them. She does not feel the same way as her family. While at home she finds out her aunt was murdered instead of just dying. So now she wants to find out who did it. She teams up with none other than the sheriff Alex. These two have feelings for each other from the start. But what is going to happen when her family finds out about them? Will the other shifters accept her? Do they find the killer of her aunt? Better grab this book and the others and get to reading.

Borden Falls is community where the human population seems to hate the shifters that live in the town. Alex is a werewolf shifter and sheriff of the town, he feels compelled to stay in his job in order to protect shifters in Borden Falls. One of the most out spoken individuals is Caleb Jameson, who has been a thorn in Alex's side for sometime and he is the main reason he stays in the job. Caleb's daughter Lucy comes home for spring break due to a death in the family. Even though they both grew up in Borden Falls Alex and Lucy have never met before and the attraction is instantaneous. This is the fourth in the Borden Falls series and can be read without reading the others. It is steamy with intrigue and a HEA.

The conclusion of Borden Falls was bittersweet because I didn’t want it to end. Holy hot Sheriff…Alex, Borden Falls sheriff and werewolf finds himself at odds with none other than Caleb Jameson. Of course if Jameson had his way he’d eradicate the wolves completely and that seems to be the plan. Only thing is, Alex has found an ally in a Jameson: Lucy, Caleb’s daughter. Alex and Lucy set out to prove the wolves had nothing to do with the death of her aunt and I’m doing so uncover the unexpected and they also find love.

Bonus Epilogue me Jean Stokes. I need an update on all of our favorite Borden Falls couples. What is going to happen now that the master of hate towards the Borden Fall wolf population has been taken down a peg?

'Apex Predator' by Jean Stokes is the fourth book in her Borden Falls series and tells the story of Lucy, who is at odds with her family, and Alex, the town's wolf shifter sheriff. Together they tried to solve the mystery about her aunt's murder and realize they have feelings for each other. However, her family does not want them to get together and causes problems.

Ms. Stokes has written a fabulous addition to her Borden Falls series. This story has a strong, determined heroine and an alpha hero that can make her laugh, while trying to help her solve a mystery. This book has heart, suspense, action, and plenty of heat. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and highly recommend it to everyone. Ms. Stokes did it again and I can't wait for her next book.

Caleb Jameson gets his comeuppance! And one of my favorite shifters gets his HEA. Alex has been in the other books in this series as the sheriff protecting the shifters from Caleb Jameson and his group of thugs. Lucy Jameson returns home for her aunt's funeral. Her relationship with her father, Caleb, has always been uneasy and she feels threatened by him. But she also doesn't think her aunts death was by natural causes. So she teams up with Alex to try and uncover the truth. They have an uneasy start inspire of the chemistry between them. The book is well paced, has some interesting twists, and great steam. And best of all this book and the rest of the Borden Falls series can be read for FREE on KU. Enjoy the whole series.

I was so happy to find out that we were going to Alex's story. I have absolutely enjoyed the other Borden Falls Series books and Apex Predator was no different. It is another great story with wonderful characters and if you have read the others you already know how great Alex is. Lucy was raised in an anti-shifter family but does not share their animosity. Alex is a shifter and the local sheriff who is regularly at odds with Lucy's father and family. They meet after Lucy's aunts funeral and there is instant chemistry. While they work together to find out what actually happened to Lucy's aunt we are treated to a sexy, fun story with some mystery along with self discovery and true love.

This book is not just about Alex the Sheriff but Caleb and his dislike for Werewolves. He is so set on destroying the werewolves that he does the unthinkable. Meanwhile his daughter who is home from college for her aunt's funeral thinks her father has gone off the deep end. She starts to help Alex dig deeper into her aunt's death and what they discover is not only who her aunt died but feelings for her each other in the midst of it all. Although their relationship is not the main focus of the story it does develop during their investigating. I would have liked to have had more of the relationship like the previous books but it was still a good read.

This well-written book 4 in The Forbidden Love Wolf Shifter Romance: Borden Falls Book Series is the story of Lucy and Alex, small-town steamy Western romance with military veterans or paranormal alphas romance with an independent, sassy heroine, no cheating and a guaranteed happily ever after. These characters are very well-crafted with depth, personalities, histories and believable interactions. This story has steamy scenes, action, adventure, twists, turns and romance. When they uncover a shocking secret, can they overcome the odds stacked against them to find love and bring peace to this shifter town? A must story, now I have to go back and read the first 3 books.

Alex has been in the previous books - protector of wolf shifters and humans alike. Now he has met his special lady, one that comes with serious baggage. And complicated politics. Several characters wander through book from previous books in the series, the stuff that makes this book even more fun. Warmth, humor, angst, romance, fear, and serious protective instincts. A standalone book but better when read in the series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more tales from Jean Stokes (romance or paranormal -- all good).

What a great series. Borden Falls is a small town of shifter and humans. The shifters are constantly being harassed by a small group of human haters. Alex is the sheriff trying to keep the peace between both worlds. Lucy Jameson has returned to Borden Falls for her aunts funeral. She doesn’t agree with her father’s contempt for the werewolves. When Lucy confronts Alex about her aunt’s possible murder, the attraction is electric. Love how these two team up to find the truth while trying to resist each other.

Can Alex and Lucy get past her father's hatred of werewolves?

Lucy comes back to Borden Falls for her aunt Alice's funeral and her father thinks she was killed by the werewolves. So she teams up with Alex the sheriff to find out what really happened. While they are working on the case, they fall in love. Which her father hates. In the meantime, Alex and Lucy find out something shocking and unnerving about who killed her. I loved it! It was very well conceived, believable, and mysterious.. Well done Jean.

This book was given to me as an ARC copy for my honest review. Five stars

Werewolf On Her Side

Lucy and Alex’s story was all about getting to know someone before you judge them. Never base how you feel about someone from gossip, because you could miss out on a wonderful person. Thankfully Lucy and Alex were willing to see each other for who they truly were, and by doing so, they solve a mystery together that has deep ramifications on the whole town...but especially for Lucy. If you wanna know what happens, you gotta pick up this awesome book 😉

The author has taken us back to Borden Falls to meet some new friends. Alex, shifter, and Lucy, human, have a connection. Alex, as sheriff, is trying to keep the peace between the shifters and humans, however, when Lucy loses her aunt, they work together to find out what truly happened. The story keeps you turning the pages with lust/love, mystery and danger.

Two people on opposing sides and working on one goal. To find the killer of her family member. Humans and werewolves in this town, do not cohabitate due to one bad seed, or human The sheriff has been wanting to have proof of the human doing wrong in order to put him away. The murderer could be the human, or is it a werewolf. No one knows until the duo works together to find the killer and the truth.

Jean Stoker did it again with another great love story between a human and a werewolf. I was so glad Caleb Jameson got what he deserved in the end, but happier that Lucy got to find out what true love really was. Wish this series didn't have to end. This series is well worth reading.

A nice one sitting read with a bit of heat, a bit of intrigue and a bit of rebellion. Lucy is only home for a short break due to a family death, but she's looking for a shooting star, but she hasn't met Alex yet. He is her shooting star, he's her metal to her magnet (loved that description). An overall enjoyable read.

I got an ARC copy of this book through BookSprout and I voluntarily chose to review. This was a good story with an interesting plot. This well written story and most of the character are great but some of the secondary characters aren't so nice. I will say the not so nice characters help make the story. I would encourage everyone to give this one a chance. I think you will enjoy this one.

I loved the fast burn and everything in the storyline! It was spicy and all consuming, also sweet. I haven't read the other books and I love when books can be read as standalones in series. I really enjoyed this book, won't spoil anything but I was surprised at some points. Not were you'll expect tho. And Lucy should be a detective.
