Business owner Paige West misses the closeness she had with her now-deceased father. Jessivel Salter, a single mother on the brink of becoming homeless, also misses her dead father, but for very different reasons. When fate unites the two women, Paige is drawn to Jessivel from the start and wants to help her. But Jessivel doesn’t trust Paige or her intentions and rejects her many “helping hand” offers. The two women eventually connect and when certain disturbing truths are unveiled, they discover they have something in common that is inconceivable and shocking. Each has to decide whether to take the easy way out and part ways forevermore or face up to the adversity that fate has thrown at them.
After more than three decades building a career in corporate America, Florence Osmund retired and learned the craft of writing literary fiction. She published her first novel at sixty-two — and has not stopped since.
Today, Florence is the author of eight novels, every one of which has earned the B.R.A.G. Medallion — a distinction awarded to fewer than 15% of submitted books. She is also the author of How to Write, Publish, and Promote a Novel, a guide born from her own hard-won experience.
Some of her readers describe her characters as feeling like lifelong best friends — and her plots as full of twists no one sees coming. Florence writes stories that challenge readers to examine their own values, their own choices, and their own understanding of the people around them.
She lives on a tranquil lake in northern Illinois, where she is working on her next novel.
Florence Osmund is a maestro at creating plots with a never-ending series of unexpected twists and turns, and her latest work, THE RING, is another definitive example of her skills that will keep you reading. The novel centers on the stories of two women, Paige West and Jessivel Salter, whose contrary lives become knotted together in a twisting labyrinth of events, mishaps, and secrets. There is also a cast of secondary characters who season the mix with intrigue and suspense. At the heart of THE RING is a simple yet profound question: When can we really consider ourselves to be a ‘grown up’? The answer may surprise you. THE RING is a real page-turner, with a beautiful cover, intriguing plot, and a worthwhile message.
Florence Osmund has written another interesting, thought provoking novel. Two women living completely different lives, not realizing they have more in common than they have differences. If readers think to compare the women in this book to their own life, they could have an enlightening revelation in their own thinking. Florence’s characters are believable and interesting, and the book flows nicely. This book encompasses human emotions and beliefs without being preachy. Settle in and get comfortable for a good read!
5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Moving Book Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2021 I like Osmunds style. She has a great story here and amazing character development. It was actually sacry how much the people in this book mirrored my own family, but with no many positive endings. Hard to put down! This is about family, trust, serial infidelity, substance abuse, and secrets, lies, jealosy and greed. I am from Chicago so seemed very familiar. Can't go wrong with this page-turner.
I am definitely a fan of Florence Osmund, and I wasn’t let down with this one. However, most of the characters are so well developed – especially Paige – that I was a bit disappointed she didn’t follow through with finding two of the characters mentioned in all the surprise twists and turns of the story.
We are proud to announce that THE RING by Florence Osmund has been honored with the B.R.A.G.Medallion (Book Readers Appreciation Group). It now joins the very select award-winning, reader-recommended books at indieBRAG
