Winter break? Amanda doesn’t know what that is. The Coalition needs the plants she’s growing and could contact her when she least expects it.
Spring semester is about to kick off when she hears new plants are needed. Will she be able to get enough of them grown in time? Time to take a page out of Johnny’s book but it will require the help of her friends… as long as they don’t get caught.
Her extracurricular activities weren’t supposed to interfere with school. Apparently, the Coalition can change the terms of their agreement at any time.
Balancing schoolwork with secret assignments is getting harder and harder. She needs to tell her friends what’s going on and get their help. Even if she’s not supposed to…
Can Amanda find an excuse to miss school not once, but twice? It’s easier said than done when everyone notices you’re missing.
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Poor Amanda keeps being messed around by the Coalition of Shifters, and Dr. Caniss in particular, who runs the science division of the Coalition.
Dr. Caniss simply won't listen to Amanda - in fact, she keeps doing the very opposite, to all that Amanda recommends to her, in order to catch the monster, that stole the power core, of the divergent mermaids - who are blackmailing the Staff, in order to get their power core returned!
But, as important as this is, Amanda has plenty of other things keeping her running around like a headless chicken!
Not only does she have even more complex school work to absorb, now she's in her Junior year, but she's also having to grow ever more complex, and dangerous, plants for the Coalition, and at accelerated speeds of growth.
But, another of those 'things' that are keeping her on the run, so-to-speak, happens to be the brand new male Shifter, who got transferred to her Academy, mid-term, and who attends the same classes that Amanda does, and who, apparently, can't go anywhere without large groups of girls following him.
But Amanda isn't one of them, and she does everything she can to avoid Matt.
There was a LOT happening in this particular book, and it kept my attention from beginning to end - in fact, I really want to continue on to book number seven - but I checked my Reading List, and it tells me to go back to the Dwarf Hunter series, to book number Nine: 'Big, Bad Mother Dwarf'er'.
So, go back to my favourite Dwarf Hunter I will - I'll probably catch glimpses of Amanda there, too! Lol
So, I'll finish this review: "Go on, I dare you to go and get this series and, while you're at it, every OTHER Oriceran series, to read, because they are GREAT!", and then I'll start on book nine of the Dwarf Bounty Hunter series, then catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!
Another great story from these authors and I can’t wait to read the next book. Although I must wait. Amanda is changing and growing in confidence and skills and it’s great to read it. She has a lot more patience with Dr Canis than I would though, the annoying scientist would have gotten a smack to the head from me. Amanda’s friends are also growing with confidence and proving themselves as true friends who will help even with difficult things. I will guess the new shifter is part lust demon or siren to have so many enamoured with him. I just hope Amanda doesn’t have to deal with any more drama, she has more than her share already. Of course the drama is what makes the story so enthralling.
Un-f**king-believable! Excitement, laughter, and more galore!
This series is a young-adult style entry in the Oriceran Universe, so it’s not nearly as rich in complex themes or convoluted storylines as other works, and what often seems obvious to us who are adult readers would not be nearly so blatant to a younger audience.
Absent this mildly annoying quality, these are some of the most fun stories to read in the entire Oriceran pantheon. If you haven’t read any of them, trust me when I say that that is a VERY high bar to reach, especially when one considers that out there among those other stories is a Cheetos loving 3-inch troll named Yumfuck. You get the picture.
So do yourself a favor, pick up this series and, as always,
This is the best book in the series by far. Amanda continues to "work" for the Coalition and attend the Academy. The adventures she finds herself in stretch her to the near breaking point. How she manages, with a little help from her friends, pull it all together is a thoroughly enjoyable experience! Plus, another shifter joins the Junior class while Amanda is away "working", something no one thinks to mention to her. All in all a memorable Junior year. The language is toned down again in this book although there are few uses of vulgarity. I recommend this book.
Yes, it finally happened. Amanda is promoted within the coalition force. Trusting her instincts are leading her to her destiny. The scientist organization is working on the mermaid problem, but their approach is not working. And Amanda is allowed to go on a recovery mission, but her team has no idea what they need to do. And incidentally a young male shifter has come to join the student body and Amanda is rocked on her heels. A great read.
The sixth book in the Academy of Necessary Magic series. Proves that Michael Anderle and Martha Carr. Really know how to write really great stories. I just hope that book seven. Isn't the end of Amanda's story. As I would love to find out what will happen next. In her life As a bounty hunter. As well as whether any of her friends. Stick with her once she graduates from. The Academy of Necessary Magic.
You are like super woman I am in remission come up to two years was liver, spin and l/bowel.. Wow you are so strong and I understand that living fear. But you bring others beautiful story's and characters. Such energy and we so appreciate. That is your strength after all there is always another story to write thank you for making lockdown better your books are our shields. Be safe
Another awesome book in the fabulous Academy of Necessary Magic series sees Amanda and her friends breaking into a school supply closet and helping themselves to items for Amanda to complete a mission.
Combine that with hunting down a divergent magical, and a new shifter in school, things are getting hectic for the intrepid teenager.
I'm excited to find out what happens in her senior year of the academy.
I gave this book 5 stars because Martha seems to have the ability to write a young magical girl's feelings & expectations so we'll. I adore this series & hope that after Amanda & crew graduate, they work together, or keep in close touch. The possibilities are endless...
I am really enjoying this series. Amanda and her friends are a lot of fun and keep you laughing at some of the trouble they get themselves into. I pretty much inhale these books because they keep my interest going from beginning to end and always leave me wanting the next book.
I enjoyed this story. The main characters are fun to read about and to see how they are going to get out of some the messes they find themselves in. The plot is straight forward and easy to follow. I definitely highly recommend this book (and the rest of the series) to anyone who enjoys pretty much non-stop action.
If the books keep getting better at this rate, it is really going to suck when I hit the end of book 8.
This was an amazing read and there was a ton of action and fun character dialogue. These characters are so much fun to read about that I definitely recommend this book, the series and the entire universe it is set in.
This character is truly evolving well. I highly recommend this fantastic book, and the kick a** series in which it is, to readers of all ages, who love reading excellent Fantasy. Enjoy!
Amanda has great instincts and if only Dr. Can is would listen. But the doctor does learn the error of her ways. What is the story of the new shifter at school? How will Summer and Johnny survive each other?
Things are really getting crazy awesome! Definitely my favorite episode so far! Every book is brilliant but the story has really taken off now!!! Howard S (the S stands for Super Fan!)
Great story.....lovely to see Amanda is growing up.
I have really enjoyed reading Amanda and her friends story. Always something new and exciting happening and I love the new characters who appear as the story develops.
Love this series! While being 15 is rough as you are living it…a character like Amanda has such a beautiful future ahead of her. What about Matt? Who is he?
The internship is nothing like what Amanda expected. The lead doctor is brilliant but domineering to the extreme. The animals/monsters are interesting.
