I must say, when I picked up the first of these books, I felt I'd probably wouldn't be so crazy about them. Mainly because I'm not normally excited about this subgenre of teen books.
HOWEVER, since then I've swallowed both the second and third books in no time! They all follow the same "recipe" and they are hardly surprising, and although the main plots and turns aren't super original, the authors somehow make it SO enjoyable!
The main stories are very light and entertaining, but then there are these current and important issues sewn into them. And that is what I love about them (at least the two last books). This is one of the FEW series where the books actually get better and better!
My only issue with this third book was the authors' obvious campaigning for a very real person (TIX) which seemed too un-nuanced. When their characters are soooo closely based on real people in Norway, which was even more true for this third book than the previous ones, it can easily bite you in the ass. And with this TÖS character, I feel it did. This "campaign" lead to a missed opportunity where a very important theme was brushed away with barely three sentences. I felt it broke with the tone set by the authors where serious themes are well highlighted.
This made me disapponted, but I still really enjoyed the book. I love this series, I think it is such a cleverly made parallell universe and it is well written. I am definitely going to keep reading whatever comes next. Also: it is now a Netflix series in the making, and I will be watching that too!!!!!
