Rock-n-roll is hell on relationships. Especially mine.
Aya Aldringham has it “all”, but wealth can’t make her father love her or give her more time with her dying grandfather. Nor can it stop her from yearning for Nash Porter, her savior and the boy she’s never forgotten.
Nash doesn’t “do” relationships, not after watching his parents use each other’s feelings as weapons. But that doesn’t stop him from getting close to Aya—really close—like, In her bed and in her arms.
Falling in love is incredibly seductive… but playing to sold-out crowds is irresistible.
While crowds might clamor for just one touch, one look… He only wants hers.
SWEET OBLIVION is book 1 in the angsty bestselling rockstar romance series OBLIVION. Start reading now—and fall in beat with Nash and Aya's heart-stealing romance!
Alexa Padgett writes contemporary romance filled with heart, heat, and overflowing with emotion. Her stories include hockey players, rockstars, and the women who find strength, love, and safety along the way. She believes romance should offer emotional refuge, a place to relax and feel understood. Alexa lives near Santa Fe, NM, where she spends her days writing, reading, hiking, and falling a little in love with each character she creates.
Book one of four, so expect cliffhangers. We meet Aya and Nash in their early years. After a chance encounter in their youth and then a pen pal relationship in their early teens, it leads to a reunion when she moves back to the states. The two navigate life as the adults in their lives are not the best role models. They form a support system, but it gets tested. I need to know what happens next. Book two can not get here fast enough.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Sweet Oblivion by Alexa Padgett is book one in a series of four books that tell Nash and Arya’s story. I typically never read a cliffhanger unless I have all 4 books in front of me to read straight through. This book sucked me into the story from the first paragraph and held me a captive reader until the last word was written. I need all 4 of this set immediately! A HEA is waiting at the end of the fourth book. It’s about an up-and-coming hot rock star, Nash with Aya, a girl he saved from waves knocking her down at age 5 to them becoming pen pals to lovers once they meet and fall in love. Jealous deceptions, parents, tragedy, and life tear them apart. But knowing they have a journey of 3 more books eases my tension of not knowing how Alexa will make their journey travels to the HEA happen. I simply trust she will. I own all her books since she is a one-click author for me. This series is worth beginning. I can’t wait to read every single word written! (This book was an ARC copy given to me for my honest reviews).
Holy guacamole, Batman! After reading Sweet Oblivion, I remembered why I never wanted to repeat my high school years. Between the insecurities and the teenage angst, I'm happy I survived to adulthood. Alexa Padgett encapsulates all the vulnerabilities of high schoolers, the high drama caused by catty girls and the misunderstandings brought on by poor communication skills between guys and gals. Sweet Oblivion is written as book 1 in a 4-part series. In other words, this book ends in cliffhanger, and this novel will continued into the next book, Craving Oblivion. I look forward to reading more of Aya's and Nash's life stories.
Aya and Nash are meant to be. How else could you explain the fact that their lives crossed paths when they were five years old and again when they're in their teens? Being filthy rich gives them a leg up on opportunities to cross paths but it is because they're both extraordinary people that they develop a strong friendship. Not having many other friends to turn to causes them to turn to each other when in need. That leads to reliance and dependence. There's no family members trying to charm them or care for them in any kind of respectable way. His family is worthless and rotten like her dad. Only Aya's mom shows love. Fortunately, Cam is interested in Nash's talent as a musician and encourages Nash to write and produce music. I loved seeing how Cam helps groom Nash for performing in concerts and how Asher Smith, the rock god, pulls Nash in to his circle of friends. They see that Nash has huge potential and they want to see him succeed. There's a budding romance building. You'll just have to read it to enjoy it. No spoilers from me. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I cannot say enough about this book. I was hooked from the first paragraph. The incredible journey between Aya and Nash is beautiful, painful, and wonderfully broken. Aya is a beautiful, intelligent human being with a naïve spirit. Her self-esteem, which should be off the charts, is squashed, disintegrated into dust by others. Nash is a sensitive soul that just wants to be shown affection and love. Together Aya and Nash are the perfect puzzle pieces that complete a masterpiece but tear them apart, and they become discarded, jagged shards that shred anything that it comes in contact with. This love story is my favorite of Alexa Padgett’s books and hands down a top read for 2021. The magnetism between Aya and Nash that pulls them together and knocks everything else out of the way is the type of bond that people search a lifetime for. I appreciated the angst in the story, but also the pureness of the story that aided in the couple’s love—a wonderful, intriguing, and epic love story for the ages.
A fantastic story! Love can come in lots of ways. It can start at all ages and end with hate. Nash's family was dysfunctional, to say the least. His dad had a band and was on the road a lot and his mother was a model but liked drugs and other things but didn't live together anymore. Nash was caught in the middle with a body guard for company. Aya had almost drown when she was five but Nash had saved her life. Many years later they meet again and strike up a romance. What a book!
This is kind of pre-rockstar romance with three more emotional installments to come! You cannot help but love Aya and Nash. Each with their troubled childhoods, but totally there for each other, first as pen pals and then as more.
I dislike a teen story with zero positive adult role models, because these poor kids deserve better. In this one, even the people you think are good are harboring important secrets. I don’t know how anyone could grow up in this unhealthy environment, but I still have my hopes for a HEA for Aya and Nash. They are two very gifted individuals with a special connection and I’m still rooting for them despite the heavy cliffhanger we were left with at the end.
Great story. I’m excited to read the next one!
I received an advance reader copy of this book from Book Sirens and these are my honest opinions.
This book grabs you from the start. Aya and Nash meet when they are five on a beach. Fast forward ten years and fate brings them back to each other. Aya is supposed to be a new student at the private school Nash attends. Both come from money but that does not protect them from heartache. Aya's parents are divorced and her father wants nothing to do with her. Nash's parents do not get along and after a family tragedy seem to forget they have a son. Aya and Nash have a connection. They get each other. But as always happens misunderstandings occur and neither give tge other a chance to explain. The book ends with Nash discovering a family secret and Aya fpgoing with her father after her family tragedy. Can't wait for book two.
"That’s why I’d connected with her so seamlessly. That’s why I felt best in her presence.
She was my other half.”
In the first book of the Oblivion series by Alexa Padgett, Sweet Oblivion tells a romantic story about Nash and Aya, two lost souls who understand lost personally. When they meet at five years old, something clicks. Aya never forgets Nash, the boy who saved her from the ocean and told her he’d be a superstar one day. When Aya is supposed to transfer to Nash’s school in high school, they form an internet friendship and learn to know each other better than anyone else. As they grow older, their connection never wavers. With Nash’s family issues weighing on his shoulders, he pursues the one thing he knows best: music. Aya, the brainy, cultured beauty, is nothing but supportive in his endeavors. With growing up, secrets are revealed in each family, and pain begins to surround them both. Despite all the exciting opportunities rising, one misunderstanding might break them apart forever.
In this novel, love is complicated and friendships are challenged.
As a new reader to Alexa Padgett, I was excited to indulge in this Advanced Readers Copy and start Aya and Nash’s journey. This book had a lot of twists and turns, and was sometimes overwhelming. I’d like to say I would rather categorize this book more in the young adult department, although it definitely has scenes that push it up to 18+ for sure. The way that Aya and Nash struggle to find themselves in each other is something a lot of young readers might be able to relate to, or perhaps it’s a good place to reflect on your own youth as you start this romance series.
This book was amazing. From penpals to friends to… something more… this romantic story is youthful and angsty, and the music tie in is absolutely wonderful. I’m definitely excited to read the rest of this series when it comes out!
I mean, once you get to the end of this book, I promise you won’t disagree with me there. Continuing is a must! I need to know what happens next! Ahhhh!!!
Sweet Oblivion releases this Tuesday, August 31st! Make sure to check it out.
This amazingly gifted storyteller is largely responsible for me becoming a rock star romance fan. Through her words, I found my forever book boyfriend, Camden Grace, in Deep in the Heart. In the thousands of books I’ve read, he's the only one who ever woke me in the middle of the night and compelled me to immediately try and capture my thoughts in a book review to make the world see that they really, really needed to read his extraordinary, compelling story.
Her latest story has one of the sweetest beginnings I've ever read, with five-year-old Nash rescuing a young Aya from tumbling in the ocean surf and her thanking Nash by gifting him the most perfect seashell she's ever found. Years later, they reunite in high school and develop a strong friendship and a budding romance. At the same time, Nash is poised for his music career to begin, with a little nudge from his mentor Cam. As since life often has a warped sense of humor, just as things are coming together for Nash's career, the bottom falls out of everything else.
It's no wonder that I would eagerly dive into another rock star romance with our latest tortured hero, Nash Porter. I'll warn you now that this is a serial series and needs to be read in order. And yes, we're left with a doozie of a cliffie at the end of Sweet Oblivion. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’ve gotten a sneak peek into the rest of the series, and it's so worth every bit of agony waiting for each book until we finally reach the end of Nash's story. So, so worth it!
Whether you get your angstaholic on now and wait on pins and needles for each book, or decide to binge read once the whole series is available, you'll completely and totally adore Nash and Aya's story. These two are both characters we can’t help but love. They're complex, authentic and perfectly flawed, and it's easy to see pieces of ourselves as we travel with them through their struggles and challenges. You'll quickly become emotionally invested and have no choice but to see their story through to completion.
So guard your heart if you can, grab the tissues, clear your calendar, and tap that 1-Click now, so you can start reading this truly special, unparalleled, phenomenal story today! Nash and Aya will remain with you long after the last page, and your romantic heart will be eternally grateful.
This is book one in A Bad Boy Rockstar Romance Series and it is Aya and Nash's story and omg what an amazing start to a new series. Aya and Nash met when they were five as he saved Aya from getting into difficulty in the ocean. Now seven years later and Nash was writing music for his dad's band called Quantum but his dad constantly took the credit for the music but one day Nash hoped to be a superstar himself. Years later and Aya and Nash become pen pals and they realised that they had already met many years ago but the longer they wrote to each other the more there connection to each other grew even stronger and when they eventually meet everything changed and they started to have feelings for each other but they both had so much baggage because of their parents so will this make them stronger or eventually break them apart only time will tell. Omg this story takes you in right from the start and keeps on the edge of your seat wondering what else would happen and there is such a rollercoaster ride of emotions that you can feel them as if you are there with them and what a cliff hanger ending. I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series as it is already totally addictive. I have read all of the books that Alexa Padgett has written as she is an amazing writer and one of my favourite authors. I definitely recommend you read this book but remember that it is not a standalone one and you will need to read the following books to get the complete story of Aya and Nash but it will definitely be worth reading.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Book
This is the first book in the new series by Alexa Padgett and I really liked what I read. Aya Aldringham and Nash Porter met briefly as children and he saved her life. Years later, they meet again and start corresponding, since he's in the US and she's in Nepal. Nash has had a hard time with his family, and when he meets Aya again, she is a glimmer of hope for a friend in his life, as his parents are always fighting and don't seem to really care about him. When Aya returns with her mother to the US and goes to the same school as Nash, they become inseparable and feelings flare up between the two. While they need to deal with the new feelings that arise, they also need to deal with Nash's success as a rock star and what it might mean for their relationship. The final events of the book made me really anxious to learn more about the story of these two very interesting characters. I highly recommend the reading.
I’m a series reader, the longer the series the better. This is book 1 in a 4 book series and I’m already dying for more. Book 1 is Nash and Aya through high school and fast forward to him being a rockstar. After years of being best friends then lovers jealousy tears them apart in the worst way. Will they ever get past what happened and move on together?? Their were moments where my heart broke for Nash, he seemed to have it all together on the outside sometimes but on the inside he was a complete mess. The only person that makes him feel anything is Aya, and now she’s gone. Is there anything he can do to get her back in his life? Will she listen to him and give him another chance? We will find out in book 2 !!
5/5 ⭐️ no questions asked. Now i desperately need the next part of their story!!!
I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This story was sooo good. It had me hooked from the very first chapter. Although the characters don't really get to meet personally, except for the five minutes when they were really younger, they had a major connection from the very beginning. The drama and problem between them had me almost crying. I could not believe after everything they went through, this issue would separate them. I can't wait for the next story. I am eagerly anticipating it! I received a review copy of this book from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
Good story with two people meeting the first time when they are five and he pulls her out of the water. They become pen pals through a school initiative without realizing they had met several years before. At a later date she ends up returning to the states ending up in the same school as him. She is a science geek while music is his passion. As their lives unfold they get to know one another and have feelings for each other. This story ends with a cliffhanger.
Wow what a story that Aya and Nash had. Meeting as kids and then again as teenagers. What a Wonderful start for a love story. Although they start as friends and they try to keep it that way but life has different plans and than life has different plans again. I wanted to wring both of their necks on more than one occasion as well as some of the other characters. Right now I want to throw my kindle because I need the second book now not later. This was a fantastic book and can't wait for the next one.
*****Sweet Oblivion (ARC) by Alexa Padgett: All the feels, this story will pull at your emotions This story is hard hitting and gut wrenching. A sweet love story that is heartwarming, heartbreaking and edgy. But. Always waiting for the other shoe to drop, because isn’t that what happens in the midst of constant chaos? It pulled me in from the start, but left me hanging with a cliffhanger. Great writing — very good! —PTATORS
Sweet Oblivion Alexa Padgett Part 1 Oblivion Series Aya and Nash first meet as 5 year olds, then jump to teen years after tragedy and heartbreak. Dysfunctional parents and a certain spark keep these two in communication even living on opposite sides of the globe. Aya and Nash are authentic and well written, they drag you in from the first page. I didn’t want to put this one down. I also enjoyed Cam and Asher cameos! The beginning of what can only be an epic love story that will not be complete without utter devastation first. This first book in the Oblivion series ends on the first wave of sadness, the first real roadblock, a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read more Nash and Aya. I need all the books now! I just know they have hopes fulfilled, dreams realised and happiness in their future. I received an arc of this book.
Couldn’t get enough of this contemporary romance! Rockstar vibes with a childhood love story will have you swoony all over the place! This first book kept me riveted and my emotions in a tilt-a-whirl! I loved it and can’t wait for book two. Nash and Aya will steal your heart!
Nash Porter has grown up surrounded by beauty, fame, wealth, and very little love. Aya has grown up in the wilds of the planet with her mother community building in forgotten places. A chance encounter as children left a lasting impression on them both. Through the private school Nash attends he is introduced to Aya again as a pen pal. With Aya he finds the treachery of negotiating a high school where everyone wants a part of him is gone. Nash can be himself. They lay the foundation of friendship, and build on that when Aya comes to his school finally. First loves are never easy, especially negotiating the swift currents of high school and rising fame. Their challenges are big, is their love bigger?
Not just a teen love story, but the first part of a series exploring Nash and Aya and the prices of wealth and fame. This book crafts a solid tale of kids who have to grow up too fast, who live without love and truth from the very people who should protect them. This is a fast paced book with all of the gut punching emotion Alexa Padgett is a master at writing into her work. A different look at children of wealth and privilege that shows the people with hearts looking to love and be loved. Can't wait to read the rest of Nash and Aya's story. I received an Advance REader Copy in exchange for an honest
This was a gripping and very easy to read book. I am going to admit I have already skipped ahead and have now bought and read the second book in the series and I have bought the third book in the series and downloaded it ready to read.
The main characters are Aya and Nash, two characters who have known each other since childhood, grow up together and become romantically involved. Then Nash goes off to live his life as a Rockstar and Aya tags along until jealously gets in the way and splits the two characters away. Both of the main characters have difficult and tremulous backstories and family issues that do not make them the perfect partner for each other or anyone else but they both are able to overcome to be perfect together.
There are a lot of secondary characters and often in series like this they will get a book of their own so I will withhold judgement until them.
The pacing is fantastic making me beg for more and the storyline while not the most original is well written, gripping and makes me (the reader) desperate for more of this FAB couple.
4 stars. Would recommend.
**Please not I received this book as part of a read & review exchange on New Adult Book Club - goodreads**
The story of Nash and Aya begins as children when he saves her from drowning. Then they become pen pals until they finally go to class together and become inseparable. Both have in common that their parents leave something to be desired, that is why they understand each other's pain better. Aya supports Nash in bad times with his father and in good times when he begins his career in music. But a misunderstanding, in a very bad personal moment for both, causes this couple to separate. We will have to see what will happen in the next book. I have loved the deep connection between both characters.
“You said you hadn’t known your grandfather for very long. But I don’t think it’s how long you know someone that matters. It’s how well the other person sees you. And I see you, Aya Jane Aldringham.”
Aya was more than a girlfriend could ever be. She looked over at me, making sure I was here, making sure I was okay. That’s why I’d connected with her so seamlessly. That’s why I felt best in her presence. She was my other half.
I'd now follow these two beautiful, broken people anywhere just hoping they stick together. Heartbreaking yet oddly hopeful. This story deals with loss and abandonment while struggling to move forward. This makes it easier when Nash & Aya find each other. A connection is formed and then a relationship forms after their close friendship isn't enough. Secrets are revealed and major obstacles try to bust holes through their bond. Leaves on a cliffhanger so it's not the end but their fight is long from over. Loved these two together and since this is a series you really feel like you know them as we start their story as children. This story is so beautifully written and layered that it intensifies all your emotions and if you're anything like me, devour this book in one sitting. Waiting for my next sweet read. I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion.
5 ⭐ What an amazing start to what promises to be an amazing series. I have been wanting to read one of Alexa Padgett's books for a long time. This was the perfect start. My favorite trope is rockstar romance. This is a series of four books, all of which follow the relationship of Ava and Noah. This first mainly focuses on them when they are young and does end on a cliffhanger so beware. When Ava was just five years old, she was knocked down by ocean waves and would have drowned if Noah hadn't saved her, which was when they first met. They become pen pals and form an important friendship and are there for each other which is desperately needed. The adults in each of their lives leave a lot to be desired. There was so much I loved and so much I hope for in the following books.
First in a 4 book story that makes it worth the wait for the next installment of the story. They meet at age 5 when he saves her life. They accidently meet again as teens and this takes you through the high school years. Nash has had a bad childhood and doesn't trust many people, but Aya has been special from the beginning. This story pulls you in from the beginning and keep you turning the pages. Well written and edited. Can't wait for the next book. I received an ARC for an honest review.
I have not been a fan of rockstar romance but this series might change that. Nash and Aya's story is a great introduction to the series. And I can't wait for the rest of their books to know what's going to happen with these two. This book pretty much sets the background to their story, with how they first met and how it evolves over the span of years. But it ends on a cliffhanger so we still have a lot to know with their story and I'm looking forward to it.
Oh man what a great beginning to a new series. Nash and Aya's story is just fantastic. From the start to the end, (which is really just a teaser that leaves you wanting more. ) Two children that turn into two totally different individuals in lifestyle and attitude. Can they reconnect and make a better life together? Next one please.
