In revenge for the curse that has forever banished him to the shadows, the creature called the Beast of MacDonnell demands the firstborn female child of each generation. Isobella's sister is soon to suffer this fate-unless Isobella can save her. Unafraid, she intends to confront the monster when she finds a strange man instead: a warrior with the face of an angel and mesmerizing silver eyes who tempts her like no other . . . Note: This novella is also included in the Highland Vampire anthology by Hannah Howell, Adrienne Basso, and Deborah Raleigh. Contains mature themes.
Deborah Raleigh is the author of thirty three books and novellas for Kensington Publishing. Her first regency LORD CARLTON’S COURTSHIP was nominated as Best First Regency by Romantic Times and was an Award of Excellence finalist. She has also been nominated for Career Achievement in Regency romance by Romantic Times.
She has been an avid reader since she could hold a book in her hands and always dreamed of putting her own dreams down on paper. She is married with two teenage boys who manage to keep life interesting. She loves to travel, although she is careful to call vacations research sabbaticals and considers housework optional at best.
I wanted to like this, there's a great idea here, but there's no tension. Everything is just too simple and the romance doesn't really develop, it just kind of pops into existence. It was a quick read but doesn't entice me to read anything else by the author. There is no follow up with how things turn out, no satisfying or real explanation for the why's and how's of the curse.
