Whilst the UK has come far in terms of LGBTIQ+ rights, there is still much work to be done. Likewise, around the world, people from LGBTIQ+ communities face horrific atrocities, including torture and death, often carried out by their own governments. In Section 28, we bring together works that examine the state of LGBTIQ+ rights and treatment around the globe including the UK, USA, predominantly Muslim countries, South East Asia and Africa. We hope that by sharing these stories, we can bring awareness to the plight of millions of people in the LGBTIQ+ community, persecuted for being who they are.
