This book begins with an explanation of exactly what a low oxalate diet is, the pros and cons, and what foods should be eaten/avoided. Recipe organization is pretty standard, all recipes are linked to the front TOC. This book is full of beautiful, colorful pictures. There is not one for every recipe. Recipe information includes serving numbers but not nutrition information or estimated time requirements. The instructions are well thought out and clear. I would have liked it if the recipe titles were bold or a slightly larger font as they tend to get lost when you are scrolling.

Some of these recipes call for A LOT of eggs, but there are also a few vegan options such as the No-Bake Bars (assuming you use a vegan vanilla protein powder). They tend to be high protein recipes in general. The side dish section was my favorite in this book - lots of good variations on roasted veggies. Butternut Squash Bake with apples was good, and even works out of season as the recipe calls for frozen squash. Does with with fresh too. There were a couple recipes that calls for very specific ingredients such as Trader Joe's Mirepoix. I subbed out for a different mirepoix, it still works.

If you are new to a low oxalate renal diet, this has a good variety of recipes to get you started. Most are ones you will probably be familiar with, I didn't see anything too unusual and the ingredients were for the most part standard. Many of these lean towards spicy with plenty of garlic and hot peppers. Nice selection of gluten free dessert recipes. The Butternut Squash Cake was interesting.
