Another great addition

One of the greatest strengths in all of the books by Orlando Sanchez is his ability to create interesting and compelling characters. Iker is the latest addition. Is he an anti hero or a villain? This short story gives us a glimpse into Iker’s world and makes us clamor for more. This was almost like a tease, a little taste of what could be a delicious banquet.

not my bag but some may like. 2 1/2 stars

Fan of Simon Green? This may appeal to you. I personally dislike the whole, I’m an indestructible badass that knows everything and has the coolest equipment, yada, yada.

Entertaining fantasy listening 😎

This kindle ebook novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 1 of 4

Iker is a vampire assassin who works within the vampire world 🌐. It is a fast moving action thriller. 😊

I enjoyed this novella and am hoping for more stories with these characters and world. Iker the unseen is an assassin. A ruthless, efficient assassin who has fulfilled all of his contracts but one - and that one still haunts him, in many ways. As much as Iker hates to be manipulated, his one failure leads him to accept a contract from a man he cannot refuse. This contract is a thinly veiled suicide mission. Will Iker survive? Is he being betrayed by someone he'd hoped was an ally? Read this tense, fast-paced urban fantasy and find out!

Another intriguing character

More intriguing characters I now want to know more about. Who are they, what are their stories. Mr Sanchez you have done it again. sucked me down another of your rabbit holes. Off on another tangent in the M &S universe. And why does he want to know more about the detective agency. And more PEACHES! Now I have to wait for the next Simon Monty and Peaches and the next Iker!.!

My Intro to this World

This the Cleaner series was an Amazon suggestion that I figured the first book is just a short story. Why not? Why indeed? If this was the sampler, I'm ready for the first course. I know nothing about Iker's world, but Mr Sanchez has done a phenomenal job in making me extremely curious. And this story isn't even an origin story so I'm definitely intrigued. The story is so well written you can pick up all you really need to know about Iker and his #2 just from what's going on. You are thrown right into a war in the vampire world and you're okay with starting in the middle. You get faction politics and some awesome tactical strategy. This is not the average vampire tale.

The story moves fast, but not so you are lost and drugged along. Fast enough to get through the story while keeping you on the edge eagerly wanting to turn the page to see what happens next. It does get intense and the end comes fast with everything in place to make you not even question getting the next book. I am addicted. On to Book 2.

This is part one of a short story. I’ll avoid the others like ichor, until the author wraps up the story.

I’m a Montague & Strong fan, who reads author Orlando A. Sanchez’s other series. I do like the compelling, new protagonist, Iker the Unseen, a premier vampire-assassin operating in the Montague & Strong World—specifically in the niche of Nakatomi Michiko, the Director of the Dark Council. Hmmmm, the bounty on Michiko is a paltry 40 million? Maybe it’s not $ or €, but gold bars?

This read is only ~58 pages, and it’s part one of a longish, short story—I’m guessing a total of 150-200 pages. At the beginning of this “story,” I gave it an easy four stars, because the main characters have tremendous growth potential. This is especially true for Iker the Unseen, whose surname appears to be Caecus—one of several names of Roman or Latinate origin. Solis Augustus is another.

I docked stars, because I don’t like serialized novellas and books with cliffhangers.

As always Orlando leaves us wanting more.

One of the things Orlando Sanchez does very well is create complex secondary characters. Iker is an almost perfect example of this. We met Iker, the unseen, in Rule of the Blood Council. He had one job and he failed at it... but like all of the characters in the Orlandoverse Iker drove the over-arching story arc forward.

In Iker, the book, we get a further glimpse of the background machinations going on. These glimpses, or tastes, add to the overall depth of the M&S world, and generally leaves us wanting more...

May I have some more, please?

I blinked and the book was finished. Seriously, this book is SHORT! That is not to say that the book isn't good. It is. It just felt incredibly rushed. The concepts, characters and world building was solid, but the book could have been so much better if the author had taken the time to lengthen the book: added detail and character interactions, more info about the world and hints at the relationships between the different races.

In conclusion if you are looking for a well written story that you can finish in well under an hour, then this is the book for you.

Consider this an opening Salvo

Iker the Unseen - consider this less a story and more a promise of stories to come, with every little detail, these little golden nuggets of pure entertainment, the world of Montague and Strong becomes deeper, richer, and more lifelike with every word read.
Consider this, if you will, a down payment on a vastly colorful, character driven, and possibly darker view into this glorious world of literary excellence.

Sanchez delivers a new character to his universe

Orlando Sanchez has yet another character to travel the paths of his universe. Iker is the perfect addition to the current cast. He bridges several story lines and has the ability to help fill in story lines gaps between books and characters. If the story line remains as good and focused as this one, the series will be prime success.

Iker

Iker was hired to do a job that he failed to do but still lived. Now he is targeted because he is too good at what he does. An interesting dilemma. Vampire politics and the Dark Council and Director purge are all in play. Seems that now Iker the Unseen has a choice to make he chooses to live. Orlando delivers a great story that helps fill in the background of the M&S world. A great short read.

Assassin's Creed

Iker has many quirks & this just revealed one of them. Now he appears to be aligned with a Daystrider, curiouser and curiouser. The many twists & turns in the M&S world are slowly coming together and this quick story is a very important piece of the puzzle. It's also a fun read.

This novella gives us a look into Iker the Unseen and his business when he takes on a contract from a very old, powerful vampire. Iker must remember when dealing with vampire clan leaders and the dark council things may not always be as they seem. I have a feeling we will be seeing more of Iker in the future. This was a quick, fun, not to be missed story.

The vampire version of a good old fashioned political thriller

Meet Iker, assassin of the stars. We thought the Dark council enforcers were badass; they have nothing on Iker the unseen.
He can go anywhere and get to anyone at any time.
When he is hired to dust the head of the triumvirate, it will test all his skills. Will he prevail? Got to read and find out.

Another killer story

This is another killer story from Orlando if you have read any of his books you know what I am talking about. It is set in the same universe as M&S, so is a must must read as they all a interlinked and have little bits that group in each book a good excuse to read them all. Highly enjoyed and recommended.

... and that's why I read Sanchez.

Yes, that is a Period at the end of the header. After over 55 years of reading vampires, space, swords & horses, ol' Billy, Scripture and whatever else, Orlando manages to consistently entertain with another take on the subject. This promises to be cool.

to fast

Interesting characters and world, but it feels super rushed as if you were on a time crunch and couldn’t find the time to write an actual book but wanted all the ideas out in this one. I wish this book was about 5 times as long with the appropriate time spent building everything.

Vampire politics at its best!

A fun dip in the pool of vampire politics. IKER is an enigma that deserves a series of his own. Here's hoping this short is a precursor to just such an event. Fingers crossed.

Just is a step into Noir for Orlando Sanchez and what a step! There's plenty of action to keep the story moving, the genre is well represented, the characters are great! Got to the end and wanted more!

A fun debut short introducing an interesting character, Iker the Unseen, to the fringes of the M&S verse (or Peaches-verse to those so inclined). Iker is given a special case that strays well beyond his usual assassin fare, setting up up a new normal guaranteed to rock his and our world.

Great Short for a new character
It was nice to see a little bit more of Iker, a very interesting character, briefly introduced in another book. Non stop action we've come to expect from this author. Really enjoyed this side trip and would love to read more of his story.

Interesting

I’ve read the Montague and Strong Series, but this was my first foray into others in the same world. It’s always interesting when authors mention other characters across series and books. I’m looking forward to reading more of this world.

No less than I expected...

From one of my favorite authors. Urban fantasy at it's best. Mr. Sanchez keeps the story moving quickly with delightful plot twists along the way. My only regret is that it isn't a longer read. Thank you for a great story!

From the world of S&M, another spin off with Iker the Unseen, the ultimate cleanup man who has become to good. Good short story, as Iker takes on a job to take out a top vampire, before he becomes the hunted.
