About the author

C.K. Brooke is a multi-award-winning author of young adult fantasy and historical romance novels and novellas. She has worked as a bookseller, book blogger, publishing assistant, and copy editor on her quest to authorhood. Her works have been published by 48fourteen, Limitless, and Readict, as well as self-published, garnering accolades from the 2020 Best Indie Book Award in Young Adult Fiction to the Indie B.R.A.G. Medallion Award.

She’s been a guest speaker and panelist for the Romance Writers of America, Rust City Book Con, and Barnes & Noble Teen Book Fest, and is an active volunteer and member of the Greater Detroit Romance Writers. She lives with her family in Rochester Hills, Michigan, where she owns and operates her imprint, Called by the Heart Publications.

I did not expect this book to have so much valuable information. There’s lots of information to get you through those dry spells and help you push through writer’s block and indecision. There are lots of invaluable resources in this well written and well structured book.

Thank you so much Ms. Brook for this wonderful tool for people who aspire to be writers and perhaps those who already are.

As someone who is both a voracious reader and a budding writer, I am always eager to devour the latest guide on writing. While many give great advice the nuggets of information shared aren’t necessarily practical or easy to put into practice. I was delighted to find this little gem that truly delivers on its title. The guide is bursting with both practical and industry information that helps both the newbie and seasoned writer alike build confidence in their desire to write while streamlining the entire writing process in a highly readable book. The author clearly has the writing chops to back up her advice, having written over 14 published novels, winning several awards, and working as a copy editor. Her experience translates into a concise guide that values the individual process that is common to writers while sharing everything from how to generate ideas all the way to connecting with potential readers, missing nothing in between. Rather than a guide to publishing, this book places its focus on the writer and their process and as a bonus, it is filled with useful links and reference information at the end of the book. Unlike many of the writing guides I’ve bought over the years, this one will stay handy!
