"Overcome what overwhelms you." What an excellent tagline for a book. At one time or another we all have To Do lists that test our sanity. "Unclutter Your Soul" addresses the issue of being overwhelmed and offers practical ways to calm your life.

I expected a devotional type book with more focus on Scripture. Instead it read like autobiographical short stories. These were interesting and it showed that the author has lived what she writes. After each essay, there was a Scripture followed with questions to answer and applicable actions to take. These were a great addition because they were helpful and added spiritual depth.

Even though it wasn't what I expected, I still enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get rid of things that are overwhelming. My suggestion would be not to read this book cover to cover. Instead, use the Table of Contents and read it by the subjects that interest you when you need them. This is a great book to use as a reference instead of a devotional.

I received a free ebook from Thomas Nelson, via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review.

The author seems really, really lovely. I can tell her heart is so sweetly trying to communicate wisdom and practical advice.

However, I was pretty confused. Too much fluff, too much trying to convince us we can picture our own lives as a basement. I left the last page not actually knowing what “work we uncluttered.”

I also don’t like being addressed as “dear reader” - she also defines a lot of words and in my opinion has a lot more healing to do before leading or guiding others to do so. She says she still is a weary traveler and it shows. Also, a little self help-ish but she did include some great theologically sound bits at times.

I wanted to like it more. 🥴

I was given an eARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
Genuinely splendid.
This book touches on every level, aspect and category of how to live a spiritually uncluttered life.
We all carry baggage, things that weigh us down keeping us from living our best life. It can be very overwhelming. I found this book to be useful in helping shed the clutter to find that missing joy again.
The meditation and reflection pages at the end of each section are great along with the suggested prayers included throughout the book.
Great all around book if you are struggling with anxiety, fear, depression, worry, resentment, grief, etc, etc

There is so much good counsel in this book. I feel like I just drank out of a fire hose. I want to take some of the ideas here and really use it. Other things I may have to come back and take a look at again later. This is a book I would like to get a physical copy of so that I can look through it again.

The reason I’m giving this book such a low rating is because it’s supposed to be a Christian book. She quotes Carl Jung, a Gnostic (Gnosticism is incompatible with Christianity). She talks about “magic”. She talks about “setting intentions”… she talks about a Japanese declutterring guru, and getting rid of stuff that doesn’t “spark joy” and that’s just within the first few chapters. All new age concepts and language being used. Christian’s are supposed to be salt of the earth and to stand out. Be in the world, but not of the world. I’m sorry, but you can’t serve two masters. The New age religion and Christianity are incompatible. As Christian’s we have a responsibility to our Lord, especially when we are representing him, his concepts, and his word. The author seems like she needs to dig deeper into Christianity to get past a kindergarten understanding of it.

Hebrews 5: 12-14 “For though you ought to be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God, and need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil”

Within the book "Unclutter Your Soul," McNeilly divides it into three primary sections, each with essays that explore various facets of spiritual and emotional clutter. Each chapter ends with useful advice, thought-provoking queries, and exercises meant to encourage readers to take concrete actions toward clearing their souls of clutter. McNeilly stresses the significance of owning up to our shortcomings and using the Holy Spirit's instruction to discover internal healing.
The book looks at frequent causes of soul congestion, including anxiety, despair, dread, loss, long-term stress, unhealthy coping strategies, and depression. Engaging and approachable, McNeilly's work incorporates scriptural references, personal experiences, and practical counsel. Her thought-provoking queries and journaling exercises inspire readers to take an active role in their quest for a soul free of clutter. In summary, "Unclutter Your Soul" is an invaluable and transforming tool for everyone who needs a fresh start or feels overwhelmed. This book is a must-read for anyone looking to better their soul, mind, body, and emotions because of Trina McNeilly's kind and realistic attitude. This book offers timeless knowledge and useful techniques to help you live a clutter-free life from the inside out, regardless of whether you are coping with specific emotional baggage or are just looking to improve your personal growth path. McNeilly demonstrates for us, with the help of the Holy Spirit, that it is possible to recognize, observe, and get rid of the clutter in our souls and live a happier, healthier life.

We are so happy to be featuring Unclutter Your Soul by Trina McNally with @tlcbooktours today! I don’t know about you but I could definitely benefit from this book. Sometimes life just gets overwhelming and we need to do some internal uncluttering. This description is from the back of the book:
“We stumble over our fears of what others think of us. Unrealistic expectations for ourselves fill our thoughts so completely that we don’t notice them anymore. Emotional pain, anxiety, and everyday stresses are a constant white noise in our souls. All of this internal clutter takes its toll on a soul created for wide-open spaces.”
I can’t wait to dive into this one and see what tidbits I can pick up! If you would like to purchase your own copy make sure you visit our Amazon Storefront, link in bio! 🌺🧜🏻‍♀️

Unclutter your soul by Trina McNeilly

This book asks us to look at our mind and soul as we would the craft closet after Christmas. Oh my! Or whatever area of your home might be cluttered. I compare it to that popular TV show where one person wants a new home and the spouse wants their current home renovated so there is more space for everything to fit in.

We are challenged to look at our soul and mind to see the clutter that keeps us from feeling good about ourselves. Could it be unhealthy thoughts of fear leading to extreme anxiety which can keep us bound to our recliner knowing that our friends or family are having a good day out?

Ideally, we want our heart, mind, and soul to have room for laughter, growth, prayer, and serving our God not negativity.

I am taking time to go back and take notes. I want to go over them with my counselor as I strive to be the best I can be.

Unclutter Your Soul is such a perfect book for right now! Overcome What Overwhelms You. I think we have all been so overwhelmed the last couple years with a pandemic on top of the stress of everyday life… and now the thoughts of WWIII lingering in the back of our minds or if you are in Europe right at your front door. It has just been hard lately. This book talks about taking all the internal clutter that keeps you up at night and takes a toll on your soul, and work on how to Observe, Own and Overcome!

I think we all want to find joy and peace and sometimes that happiness can start by opening up a book!

I bought a few books on a whim. This was one of them. I read quite a few reviews and it seemed like something interesting. Within a few mins of getting started they started in on god talk. I’m completely turned off by organized religion and hate that they make zero mention that it’s Christian based mental pep talks in the previews. Even in the audio samples it doesn’t give any insight. It felt like a bait and switch. I don’t have a problem with religion itself or people having faith, I just don’t want it shoved down my throat or at least be aware that it’s part of the package deal. Informed consent on what I am reading is really the key here.

This book is very thorough, and includes so much truth from the Word of God - and also tips from the author, about «uncluttering your soul». Because of the books thoroughness, it can be read as a study book. You need to be focused when you read it, to unpack all the tips and guidance the author is offering. She shares a lot from her own story of uncluttering. Although the author is sharing from her own life, she writes in such a way that I believe many people can receive information and guidance for their own uncluttering journey. I would highly recommend the book!

We all have an inner turmoil that hold us back from a rich and full relationship with Christ. This book was perfect in learning how to shift yourself to being present with God. How to overcome the sin, habits, or other issues that keep us rooted in a shame cycle. Loved the writing. Highly recommend for those who need help unpacking their junk. #netgalley #goodreads #unclutteryoursoul #trinamcneilly

This is a beautiful book that speaks to how, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, to approach and wrestle with what is holding us back: our soul clutter. Really appreciated the author’s compassionate approach through vignettes in her own life that help to illustrate and bring home her practices to observe and overcome how she approaches her soul clutter.

I received this in a first reads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. This is a wonderful book that helps you deal with life's challenges. As a Christian I usually find most Christian self help books to be annoyingly pollyannaish, this one isn't. If you need help with life, you need to read this book.

I enjoyed Trina’s gentle and beautiful writing as she walks the reader through observing, owning and overcoming mental clutter. Each chapter ends with averse, questions to ponder and a step to put into action. This could be really helpful if you find yourself overwhelmed with your thoughts or your life. I read it a chapter a day and found that to be a good pace to take in the content.

This reflective book gives insights into biblical and practical practices to move through one’s anxious and overwhelming thoughts and fears. I found this book when I needed it. Although most of her advice was generic and not as deep as I had hoped for, I still felt she was sincere in her words and advice.

The right book at the right time, at least for me. I'll be referring to it often. So much wisdom and insight. Trina, you hit this one out of the park for me. I'll be giving it away as a gift to those who find themselves in need of uncluttering and in need of this wide-open, spacious life.

This was not what I was expecting at all. If you don’t have anxiety going into this book, you will experience it by hearing the author tell her anxiety story. There are some good nuggets in here, but I really didn’t enjoy this read at all.

I liked it a lot! Especially the biblical references at the end of each chapter. Very accessible. I like that she was so honest with her shortcomings as a mom rather than humble bragging through hardship like some Christian self help authors.
