I #oneclicked this way back on release day, but wanted to hold off until the next book was nearing release. Pretty much went in blind, the only concrete detail is this is one of my favourite authors, whatever she writes I’ll read.
This took me by surprise more ways than one, there was nothing run of the mill with this book, a dead end town, once you arrive you can never leave. A bully stepbrother romance like I’ve ever read before!
Usually a genre I don’t really tend to read so maybe it was best that I didn’t read the blurb, now I’m rethinking my choice in my preferred romance genre because I really enjoyed this book! It has everything and more which I usually seek in my books.
A little bit dark , witches, ghosts, a possessed hero, murder, and a feisty heroine I loved!
This storyline made me want to visit this dark gloomy deadly town which was run by corrupt men. This ticked so many boxes.
The only aspect that held any appeal for me was the horror element. However, I couldn't help but feel that the rest of book was pointless in every way, lacking substance and even seemed offensive in certain areas.
Vera is a surly 17-year-old with a chip on her shoulder. Moving from Fargo to Castle Pointe, Minnesota on the corner of Lake Superior, to live with her mom’s boyfriend, Vera’s attitude takes a further nosedive.
Crossing the city limits into Castle Pointe, Vera feels a shift. From there, everything feels increasingly ominous - especially their new home and her new stepbrother, Malik.
Wicked Little Sins takes us on a twisted and suspenseful PNR adventure with the toxic step siblings. Looking forward to seeing these characters again in Wicked Little Game.

What the heck did I even read?! People need to stop tagging books bully romance when there's really nothing romantic about the characters.
We get the heroine who's all pissed that her mom married an unknown man and that they have to move to his town..a mysterious and weird town. And yes, the man has a son who's a year older than the heroine and the boy is determined to make her pay for entering his life. Now this is good because you get the bully aspect of the whole push and pull where the heroine refuses to back down and the hero says shit like "thinking about having sex with her makes me feel nauseous". Let's be honest, that didn't last too long. But after the 50 percent mark, the book turns into a supernatural overload with the people getting possessed by spirits and levitating bodies. And here I was.. honestly confused about what was going on!! Somewhere the heroine was possessed, then the hero got possessed and somehow they fell.in.love?! Like honestly, I have no idea how that even happened because they were spitting at each other few pages before that happened. I lost the plot after the introduction of words like spirits and witches and I'm mentally kicking myself for not DNF-ing this book. 340 pages of headache. That's what this book was.
Breck is a great writer but the way this story took a complete 180 left a bad taste in my mouth. I need to gargle that shit out asap!
Surprisingly good. Taboo stepbrother love story with the twist of paranormal, maybe a good thing but unexpected. Vera was a strong heroine and Malik, an ultimate alpha hole, so hot and full of darkness. Their relationship amid the darkness, fog, mist, and mystery of the (cursed) town was toxic but so compelling, a magnetism they could not pull away from. This was a slow burn, hate to love, bully romance spliced with a little horror. Not the spiciest romance by any stretch (2/5 stars) but I was absolutely digging the phantom sex and graveyard scene.
4/5 stars simply because it was a little slow to progress, even with such a creative plot line, and the spice, given the strong sexual tension and their perverse attraction, was almost and noticeably absent. Still a great story. Very original, great character development. I’d love to read more in this world.
I decided to quit. It just wasn't for me :( I really didn't like the writing style (I think there is a difference between simple and bad writing and this sadly felt more like the latter) Who knows - maybe it'll get better after the 43% but nope... I won't continue.
The story sounded so good, but the execution wasn't what I wanted.
4.5 ⭐️ I really liked this one. The setting and premise really worked for me. Very dark and spooky vibes with a cursed town that refuses to let our FMC go. The ghosts were actually pretty terrifying given the abilities they have in the real world. Our FMC goes through a lot and it’s so frustrating seeing her treated the way she is by virtually everyone around her. Her mom sucks, the school sucks, our MMC mostly sucks 🤣 but it all worked for the most part. Definitely worth a read and I will be picking up the next book.
Wicked Little Sins was SUCH an unexpected and delicious ride!! I was so obsessed with Malik and Vera. I thought this was going to be the typical dark bully romance but boy was I wrong!!! This story was sexy and so addicting!! I loved it so much!
A.R. Breck is such an amazing writer. Her stories captivate you and make you feel like you are in another world. I love the dark enemies to lovers vibe this story had in addition to the always delicious step-sibling trope that I can't get enough of! I won't give away any spoilers but this story shocked me. I definitely wasn't expecting the storyline and was glued to my kindle!
Overall this was a solid read. I would have appreciated more grovel from Malik because that's how I roll but also because the ending seemed sort of rushed. Overall though, this story was fantastic and I can't wait for Wicked Little Games! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
3.5 This book was enjoyable! Ouija boards, demons, possessions, creepy torture rooms. Reading this book in summer was weird haha. One thing I won’t forgive in this book was the pentagram slander. No, a pentagram doesn’t mean dark magic lol.
So this took a turn I wasn't expecting!!! And once again I think it's pretty important I keep things vague so you try to get the same level of surprise I did!!
We begin with a very bratty Vera sulking when her mum says they're moving across the state to Castle Pointe to be with a man she met and fell in love with. I admit Vera pissed me off for the first few chapters but she got better as time got on!
As they cross the Castle Pointe welcome sign Vera feels chilled immediately. Even the temperature in the car dropped several degrees. The sun vanished and the sky was covered with dark clouds. Her new home was just an outright creepy huge dark house stretching to the sky like a castle, that carried on giving her the chilling feels as she walked thru it.
Her new step brother, Malik and his 3 friends fills the description of creepy, mean, soulless and relentless nicely. Even before Vera arrived in Castle Pointe they were planning pranks to make her leave. They've pranked people before and have successfully made them leave - one way or another.
Her new school is- you guessed it - downright creepy. It's a Catholic school run by nuns and very strict. Things happen here that are not normal and how parents don't say anything is beyond me. Even when Vera tries to tell her mum, she brushes it off... She does however manage to make 3 friends, Hazel, Blair and Piper.
This is where my review will get vague. Yes Malik and his merry band of pranksters still continue to bully her and there's some seriously messed up pranks, actions that only someone with a dark heart and soul could carry off. But things start to take a turn that even Malik didn't foresee.
History comes alive, and the different tales from the past are finally shown which are truth.
Be grateful that detention was the punish and not the room of atonement!
Get ready to be spooked but enjoy the ride. I'm not a fan of scary horror type things but this book surprised me and it was fun to read!
I received a copy of the ebook in return for an honest review
"I've been seeing spirits everywhere. It feels like this entire town is haunting me."
A paranormal suspenseful story with step siblings at war with each other and with the mysterious spirits. Although I did find some of it disjointed I did enjoy the unique haunting plot and the tricks and chemistry between the main characters.
I’m not sure what I was expecting when I dived into Wicked Little Sins, but it wasn’t what I thought it was, it was so much better. I’ve said before I’m not the biggest paranormal fan but I really enjoyed this, it did take me a little bit to get into but once things started to happen and we got a bit more explanation I was hooked!
Vera, a teenager with a bad attitude and a barely there mother finds out that they’re moving across country in Castle Pointe to live with her mothers new partner and his son. She tantrums quite a bit and doesn’t want to leave. They arrive in the gloomy, gothic town where nothing is as it seems, the town where you can’t leave. Malik hates Vera with a passion, his aim is to drive her away. He doesn’t care whether she lives or dies. He and his friends like to play games, games that have ended up with people dead and Vera is their new pawn. I liked the growth from both Vera and Malik, I was beginning to think they weren’t going to move past hating each other but they got there in the end.
A school that’s eerily ran by nuns, the room of atonement that’s crawling with ghouls and unknown creatures. Cemeteries, woods and church’s. Ouija boards, hauntings and possessions. This book knew exactly how to put you on edge!
I found the description and the world building incredible, I felt so on edge reading some scenes cause I could clearly picture them in my mind. I loved the girls friendship group and I’m very intrigued about our resident witch Hazel. I’m really excited for Wicked Little Games now! 🖤
Reads first sentence. Stops. Looks up from the book. Continues reading the second sentence. Stops. Looks up from the book again. Continues reading the third sentence. Stops.HEART ATTACK. Peeks up from the book, scared to see something or someone there.
On and on. On and on. On and on.
One must think I didn’t even get the chance to dive into the stor— Wrong. I did.
There are two options here: One, I’m a witch that was able to run the hell away from Castle Pointe to then relive the book as a fever dream. Two, the book is so well written that— and I kid you not — I could see everything so vividly I started questioning my own sanity.
And can I just say? All of this, while reading a bully romance!
I have to admit. One of the BEST paranormal, bully, forbidden, borderline horror, romance book.
The perfect start to the fall vibes.
I might have said this a few times already in my reviews, but I promise you, this book is now up there, alongside all my other favorite bully romance books. And it’s never getting down.
I finished the book and wished there was a sequel to Vera and Malik’s story. I can’t get enough of them.
I will be reading the second book of the series. Felix, here I come!
I went into the book pretty blind. I didn't read any of the reviews and only saw teasers which were great! It's been on my TBR and I finally decided to dive in. However, the cover with the Ouija board thingy should've clued me in and let me say I am not a big supernatural fan. It creeps me out!
Welcome to Castle Pointe, where the dead never sleep.
Vera and her Mom move to Castle Pointe, new dad and stepbrother and all, ya know? There is something about this town that is very unsettling for Vera. She hates her stepbrother, Malik, and the feeling is mutual. The Catholic school she is forced to attend is archaic and why does it never stop raining? It's clear Malik is determined to make her life hell and wants her out of Castle Point. Things get weird when Vera starts hearing voices and seeing things. Very weird.
The two characters walk a really fine line between hate and passion. I really, honestly, couldn't tell if they did or did not want each other because the hate was so MUCH!
This book for me started out really good. I was into it, but then it turned to black magic and supernatural things. This is the one thing that creeps me out. Completely! I won't say I completely stay away from these books, but I don't purposely read them. And forget about the movies. I won't touch those!! LOL. Anyways, aside from this turn of events in the book, I liked it! The characters were interesting enough, it just got really weird with demons and all. If you are into it though, I think you will love this book!
Where to start, this book has it all steam, intrigue, and a haunted town. What better book to read in October.
Vera and Malik are like oil and water but they mix so well together. Vera finds out that she is moving in with her mom's new husband that she has no clue about. So when she gets to Castle Pointe she now's this a town that is not ordinary. When she meets Malik is when its a game changer.
Malik hates his dad and when he finds out that his new wife and kid are moving in, he makes plans to play a game on Vera to make her leave. Oh man that does not work Vera fights back and she encounters weird stuff that she cant explain.
If you want to book that you can not put down this is it! I really hope there is another book for Malik and Vera.
0 ⭐️ DNF 68%. What the actual fuck?? Sorry I am not reading the rest of this it’s so so awful. I’m loosing too many brain cells. I hate giving up on books but just no just no.
Wicked Little Sins was not what I expected, and to be honest, it was a bit frightening.
***** Rating: 4 stars Steam: 2.5 flames Genre: Horror Romance / PNR / enemies to lovers Triggers: Read the warnings ***** Y’all, I read the warning and still had no idea what I was getting into. At first I thought… ok a bully romance. Angsty 17 year old FMC and angry 18 yr old MMC…who are thrown into an awkward situation when their parents get married. Now these two are stepsiblings and they can’t even stand each other… but you know what they say, there is a fine line between love and hate.
Malik, our antihero, is a terrible human being. He and his friends run the school, the town, their parents… they are untouchable and you never want to be on the receiving end of one of their “pranks”...
Vera, our FMC, took me a bit to connect with and understand. She is angry that she has to move, she is angry at her mother, she is angry at life and most of all, she doesn’t like her new stepbrother. Vera was not my favorite character…I feel like she had no self-preservation and she made decisions that just made her life more difficult. She definitely didn’t make the best choices… but then again, she is also 17 years old and how many seventeen year olds are prepared for what Vera is about to embark?
Castle Point is a town filled with secrets, lies, games, and death. This book is dark, it is scary, and it covers some controversial themes with a religious element. It pushes boundaries, and for the first 60% you won’t like many of the characters and then as you get to the last third of the book, everything starts to make sense…. And yes it’s just creepy and a bit scary, not going to lie.
By the time the book ends, I was on board with Malik and Vera, because these two truly do belong together in a totally wicked way. I am definitely going to look for some more books from AR Breck now because this was brilliantly dark, original, and a total page-turner!
Also… NEVER play with a Oijui board EVER!!! Nothing good can happen…
A must read for all those horror romance lovers who also love a good anti-hero!
I’m on such a high right now. I need to sleep on my review to do it justice. Just know, this book was bat shit crazy in the BEST ways.
Okay, I think I have composed myself enough to write this review...maybe.... I knew I wanted to read this one when I saw @lovetolovebooks loved it. It's gothic, suspenseful, and absolute madness. I had a slight idea of what to expect going into this, however, it all flew out the window once I really started to get into it. A.R. Breck takes you through a STORM of a story.
Set in a dark and dreary town that seems to have more ghosts than living, things aren't normal, and Vera feels it the moment she and her mom drive into town. Vera is a piece of work, but I love her. She's grouchy, jaded, and downright tired of the world. Her instincts tell her to be afraid, but her stubbornness won't allow it. Malik is demented, completely and utterly unafraid of anything. He does whatever he wants, whenever he wants. When he and his friends get together people disappear. And they don't care one bit.
I think what makes this story one of a kind is the absolute insanity of the town of Castle Pointe. The myths, and malice that runs in the underbelly of the town, I couldn't get enough of it. This story is amazing, it's everything you could ask for in a gothic romance.
I will plead with you, beg if I have to. Read this book.
Vera is our FMC and her mom is moving them away from her hometown to live with her new boyfriend Samuel, in Castle Pointe. Malik is Samuels son, and him and his friends make it a game to run Vera and her mom out of town. Vera isn't happy about having to attend a private Catholic school either. Her 1st meeting with Malik is very memorable too 😂😂 When these 2 are around each other, the sexual tension is HOT!!! Malik hides his attraction to Vera with hate, and Vera is drawn to his darkness. The longer Vera is in Castle Pointe, she sees that something is really wrong with the town. This book was not what i was expecting at all and I freaking LOVE it!!! I couldn't stop reading this book. There was so much craziness happening in that town! You should really read this book as soon as it comes out! You wont be disappointed!!!!
"We could bury her alive in the old cemetery as we did to that one guy the other year," Felix mumbles.
Anyhow,
Two teenagers pranking each other and beating around the bushes instead of acknowledging their feelings because of their big-ass egos is hardly called romance and it's not interesting to read. At all.
The h kept saying these same damn words, I'm honest to god, I lost my mind and I'm still trying to find it. So, that I could write this review.
I hate him, and he's my stepbrother. How much I hate him. I hate him so much. I hate you. I hate you so fucking much. I hate you. I hate him so much. I really hate you, Malik, you know that? I hate you, big brother. I fucking hate you. I hate him so damn much. I hate you. Do you know that? Like, honest to God despise you. I hate you. A lie. A terrible lie, but one I feel, if only for the moment.
And I'm not even halfway through the book.
I was like-
I get it, girl, You hate him but can you stop saying the same words every second of the hour? I was so done with this book but through my sheer stubbornness I was able to complete it and I don't even see the point of why the heck I did it, to be honest.
Even the plot wasn't soo good. It was plain exorcism and I'd have at least given 2 stars but too bad, the main characters were downright horrendous.
The fact that still surprisingly amuses me the most is: not once, note it, Not once did I hear them saying I love you to each other. And it's called a romance, you say? Bull-fucking-shit.
Oh please, don't give me the shit saying that: love doesn't need words to display. Hard shit because I didn't once see them display it either. It was just two horny teenagers going at each other and then turning into stupid adults who still believed what they felt for each other was love.
I received an ARC for an honest review of Wicked Little Sins. I am a new reader to A.R. Breck but I absolutely will be checking out more of her books after reading Wicked Little Sins in one day!
Content warning: 18+, Foul Language, criminal activity, drug use, physical and sexual abuse, people with and of those triggers should avoid this book.
If you are looking for: 💀 Great Halloween Read 💀 Stepbrother 💀 Dark 💀 Creepy 💀 Witchcraft 💀 Bully
Then this is the book for you!
Wicked Little Sins was a similar premise to other stepbrother romances that I have read, with an extra spooky factor thrown in.
Vera finds herself suddenly in a new blended family with a new stepbrother Malik who seems to hate her as much as she hates him. Malik and his friends Felix, Levi and Atticus see Vera as the prey they love to torment as they try to push her out of her new life in Castle Point. Vera is a strong willed rebel, who is not going to be taken lightly. Welcome to Castle Point Vera, where the Dead don’t sleep.
I enjoyed the read and thought it was well written so I am giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Death, Vera. Death is the only way you can leave here.”
“The Dead Don’t Sleep, Vera. Not Here. Not in Castle Pointe.”
“I can’t provide her salvation. All I can give her is ruin.”
Just in time for spooky season, this book had the perfect aesthetic for a late autumn read. You’re quickly drawn into the story because you just have this… Feeling. This feeling continues for the duration of the book and I think it actually gets worse as the story continues.
Vera and Malik are forced to become step-siblings and although on the outside they appear to be completely different, they are more similar than they think. A lot goes on between them some good, some bad. It’s hard to figure out which way their relationship is heading but it’s a roller coaster of emotions.
The star of the show isn’t the two main characters, it’s the creepy town with dark secrets and a potential curse. We learn a bit about the history of the town but there’s a lot more lurking in the dark.
The mystery, the characters and the atmosphere of the book will have you staying up late to finish this book. A great start to the series.
That's Malik and Vera's relationship in a nutshell.
But don't forget twisted, taboo, and toxic AF.
These two had my head spinning from their very first interaction, but I couldn't stop reading, couldn't stop wanting to find out what happens until the very last page and I still wanted more. Good thing there's a bonus scene, huh?
And don't get me started on the other boys: Felix, Atticus, and Levi. Along with Malik, making them my Four Nightmares of Castle Pointe. Something tells me we haven't seen the last of these boys...
Set in a town with a dark past, haunted spirits and spooky witchcraft, this little gem is a wild ride and the perfect Halloween read!
Wicked Little Sins is perfect for the month of October. This book gave me chills! If you love the movie The Craft then you will fall in love with Wicked Little Sins. It is hauntingly perfect. Every page was unexpected and unpredictable. I devoured Vera and Malik's story. I couldn't put it down. This book had it all; *dark romance *step siblings *dark magic *crazy demons
A.R. Breck introduced me to a whole new world and it's not something I would've normally read, but I am so glad I took a chance and did. Such a phenomenal read and hope there is more to come in this world.
I’ve taken longer than I normally do with my reviews for this one because I honestly had to take time to process what I read— what a crazy ride.
I’m so glad I buddy read this with a friend, we both saw it was Stepbrother trope and dived in without even reading the blurb or properly looking at the cover, which would’ve given us some insight for sure.
I wasn’t expecting the gothic, possession and slight paranormal aspect, the majority of my notes and there are a lot is of me saying “NOPE” and “WHAT IS GOING ON” for everything the characters went through.
I can say I’ve never read a book like this before so found it hard to compare to others however for the author to make me feel such strong emotions and make my heart feel like it was going to pound out of my chest is the majority of my rating. I love her style of writing, there was a few errors of eye/hair colour changing throughout the book not so much to pull you out of the great story.
I loved Vera, her personality is my favourite kind in a female lead. I loved her no care given attitude but also the realism of her emotional reactions to the crazy that she went through. Malik.. he was tougher to love as he was a gigantic a’hole to Vera and I was like this man better GROVEL, which he did to an extent but I would’ve liked some more.
I’d definitely read this authors future books because I got totally sucked in to this world!
After finishing the Blackridge Prep trilogy, I was ready to read more books by A.R. Breck. This book is totally different from the other trilogy. It was not what I was expecting but it was a very, nice surprise. I am really digging the gothic vibes. Talk about an angsty read! The dynamics between Malik and Vera had me in a constant tug and pull of an emotional roller coaster ride!
When it came to Malik, I hated him for what he did to Vera. Even when he learned what was happening to Vera, he still asserted himself towards Vera. Their relationship is a true enemies to lovers. By the end of the story, my feelings towards Malik did less a bit to not be "hate". I do look forward to reading book two to see how Malik and Vera's relationship progresses. But after reading the other trilogy, I know that these two will not have an easy path to take.
