Hawthorn Hills Duet #3
Ruin Me
Ruin Me is book one in Caleb and Ruby’s duet and book three in the Hawthorn Hills Duet Series. A two-part, slow-burn, broken love story. Ruin Me must be read before Rescue Me in order to enjoy the full story.
Life at its worst can be ruining.
Caleb Parker is broken and lost, and her support is everything. But she has no idea how deep his trauma runs.
Ruby Collins is his sister's best friend and his new roommate. Broken as he is, he knows he should keep his distance.
But when Ruby’s professor lurks too closely, Caleb steps in. And what was meant to be a ruse, turns into so much more.
Together they can heal each other, but it’s the past that nearly ruins them.
The Hawthorn Hills Duet Series follows eight couples. Each two-book duet must be read in order to enjoy the couple’s full story, but the series can be read in any order. You’ll find angst-filled, slow-burn, epic love stories along with topical storylines and some amazingly real and raw characters.

Ruin Me is the first book of the second duet in Hawthorn Hills series. It can not be read as a standalone and does end on a cliffhanger.
Ruby is a fun loving, kind hearted, outgoing college girl the type of girl who would easily get along with most people. She is also feirce, compassionate, caring and patient. We got glimpses of her in the first duet in this series but in this book we got to see much more of who she is and how she deeply loves all those close to her.
Caleb has been through a lot and is left dealing with PTSD and trying to get his life back on track. Having moved in with his sister and her room mate he is adjusting to his new surroundings. He is protective and has alpha male qualities, he is determined not to be a burden and is stronger than even he might think but also tends to be cautious, slightly reserved and vigilant.
This part of the story heavily focused on what Caleb was dealing with and how his was navigating his new life. It gave us a bigger glimpse of Ruby and added a lot of substance to her character. There was an added suspense element to the story but it still had light hearted moments, passionate & steamy moments as well as some drama and all the things I enjoy in new adult romances.
The story is far from over and I'm very excited to see where the second half goes in Rescue Me.
《book aesthetic made by me. I do not own the pictures, all found via pinterest》

Series: Yes book 1 of Duet( BK 3 of The Hawthorn Hills series)
Gahhh I've been waiting for Caleb Parker story ever since I finished Complete Me. I'm loving this agnsty broken hero with a sweet soul of a woman by his side...like a friends to lovers romance!
He has been put through hell and he's in so much pain with his nightmares and PTSD I just want to reach in and hug him! Breaks my heart to see him suffering like that. He moved from Providence to Hawthorn Hill college with his twin sister Sierra and his best friend Reid they both in college. Caleb's starting a new life, trying to put the pieces back together. He got a job at a local bar. He meets Ruby Sie's best friend and the roommate......well they do have sparks flying that's for sure, but what she does for him is so much more. She is the calm to his chaos, the balm to his pain. She treats him with love, respect, patience never pushing him with questions and believing in him 100%. She is a student of phonology, she keeps his nightmares away.
It's such a beautiful relationship I love them together. This story also has some danger creeping in the shadows, and a pervert professor yikes.......I can't wait to continue this rollercoaster ride with Caleb and Ruby until the end with Rescue Me book 2 of the duet.
Caleb:
🔅🔅“You’ve seen me at my worst, Ruby,” I whisper. “You’ve seen me broken and you’ve stayed. You help me in ways I can’t even begin to describe and—” “Caleb,” she whispers, her fingers on my lips, “you aren’t broken.” I let out a slow breath. “I’m a mess, Ruby and you deserve so much better than me. But I’m also selfish and I can’t fight this anymore, can’t stay away, can’t not kiss you,” I tell her. “I’ve wanted to kiss you every day since I met you.”🔅🔅
As much as I don’t want it to happen, I’m positive I’ll be having a nightmare tonight. It’s not just the unfamiliarity of this place or the silence of an empty house either; it’s the absence of Ruby and the comforting warmth of her body beside mine.🔅🔅
Ruby:
🔅🔅I’ve never felt like I belonged to someone like the way I feel with Caleb. All my life I never realized I would suddenly find that a piece of my life was missing and I would find it in a guy. My connection to Caleb is intense and all-consuming, but I don’t care. I want our attachment to swallow me, to drown me, to consume me.
I really recommended this series!!! This book does end a big cliffhanger as it is part of a Duet!
ARC was given to me by Author.... thank you so very much 😘

“I’ll ruin her and us and anything good and precious that might be between us. But it doesn’t change how much I want her….” – Caleb
I’ve been impatiently waiting for this book since Claire Raye introduced readers to Caleb and Ruby in the first two books of the Hawthorne Hills books. This book was fantastic. Watching Caleb and Ruby fight their obvious attraction to each other was just the type of slow burn that I love. Just the two of them and how right they seem for each other. Yes Caleb has many demons to face, but Ruby brings a lightness to him that is hard to ignore.
I won’t say too much, just know we have another cliffhanger on our hands at the end of this one. I can’t wait for the next book to see how things play out for Ruby and Caleb, as well as Sienna and Reid. I love that they are all such an integral part of each other’s lives and stories. I also love that this book is full of hope. Hope for Caleb and Ruby to be able to be together, hope for Caleb to be able to cope and try to put the trauma’s he faced in the past, and hope for Caleb, Sienna and Reid to be able to move forward.
This was a great addition to the Hawthorn Hills Duets, and the anticipation for the next book is already killing me!! I absolutely loved this story and I can’t wait for ‘Rescue Me’!

I've been hounding Claire Raye for this book ever since I finished Complete Me. This was NOT the story I had somehow created in my mind about Caleb and Ruby. It was so much better though. It was true and raw and so damn real, with real life problems.
The writing once again was superb making feel every feeling and making it feel like everything was happening to me. They didn't shy away from the real life implications of PTSD and let it all bleed onto the pages of the books, shining a light onto the struggles and triumphs of a relationship under this unpredictable and largely invisible enemy.
Caleb was beautifully bended, not broken but he was brave enough to accept the spoken and unspoken help. And Ruby... In my mind, she's this powerful and yet understated warrior queen, ready to go to battle for Caleb. She wasn't a crutch or a security blanket, but a steady support and silent cheerleader.
It was so amazing going back to Hawthorn Hills and I'll be once again hounding Claire Raye for the rest of Ruby and Caleb's story, because this book ends on a cliffhanger. But oh well, they're used to my nagging tendencies.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
New favourite couple alert! I have been anxiously waiting to read Caleb and Ruby’s story and they sure didn’t disappoint. I’m not sure if it’s because they have been there since the beginning or the difference in their personalities, but I just felt so much more connected to them. I loved how their relationship grew and evolved from support and friendship to this uncontrollable and magnetising bond. All of their sweet words, innocent yet lingering touches and the absolute trust to confide in each other had me swooning. The sexual tension of should they, shouldn’t they, just added that extra tantalising layer to their ever-growing emotional connection.
Caleb’s character growth was noteworthy and the ache in my heart quickly changed from sorrow to absolute joy. But sometimes, whilst everything appears fine on the outside, all of those feelings that have been pushed aside continue brewing until eventually they have to come out. Hello cliff-hanger! Ah, why do you two do this to me? I could feel the tension and anticipation building and building throughout, just provoking me with the outburst that I knew was coming. And those sneaky little hints that had my mind veering off in other directions, even though I should have trusted my gut in what I thought was the actual danger. Sneaky ladies, very sneaky!
I don’t think I can write this review without taking a moment to acknowledge how Claire and Raye created another bad ass, take no bullshit heroine whilst also tackling some very serious subjects that others may shy away from.
Whilst there was the formidable feeling of Caleb’s traumatic past and crippling anxiety lingering, the entire feel of Ruin Me was different to the first two books of the series. I loved the friends to lovers with a little dash, and I mean tiny dash, of fake dating romance. The easy and natural friendship Caleb and Ruby strike was captivating, sweet and beautiful, and I just couldn’t put the book down, even if I wanted to. I cannot wait to read the conclusion to their story!
Thank you so much Claire Raye for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Favourite quotes:
“I’ll ruin you, Ruby” “Then ruin me.”
“This isn’t about saving him or feeling like I need to be here to help him pick up the pieces. It’s about watching us grow and change, and it’s about falling in love. He has my heart and together we can heal his.”
“Knowing if or when I do fall in love with Caleb it won’t be after having sex or kissing him, but it will be when something life-changing happens. It’ll be a moment when something that should normally push two people apart, brings them together.”

I. AM. RUINED. Completely and utterly ruined by Caleb Parker! I thought Reid had stolen my heart but Caleb breezed in with everything he is and stole my heart completely!
“I’ll ruin you, Ruby,” he mutters, his teeth dragging along the sensitive skin of my neck and I feel him bite softly where my pulse beats hard and fast. “Then ruin me.”
Ruin Me is the 3rd book in the Hawthorn Hills Duet Series and the first part in the Caleb and Ruby Duet and picks up right where Complete Me, Sienna and Reid's duet left off. Caleb Parker believes he's broken, irreparable and forever changed by the events that happened to him. Ruby Collins wants nothing more than to help Caleb heal and find a new life in California.
Ruin Me was an emotionally charged story that addressed the very real struggle of living with PTSD and the short term and long term effects it can have on you and the people in your life. What starts out as a tentative friendship between the two develops into a trusting relationship full of hilarious banter, sexual chemistry and most importantly the support that they give each other.
“We were meant to find each other. You were meant for me,” he whispers, breathy and deep, and each word is said with so much promise, so much truth.
The tension between Caleb and Ruby was palpable, the sexual chemistry was second to none and so addictive to read. Caleb and Ruby had the type of relationship where they supported each other and brought out the best in each other, I loved the push and the pull between these two characters. Ruby was such a strong female character and I loved the way she offered Caleb techniques to work through his PTSD and supported him without being pushy. She was honest with him about the recovery process and listened when he needed her too. Ruby was so incredibly good for Caleb.
Ruin Me was a complex story of healing and ended on one heck of cliff hanger making everyone who reads Caleb and Ruby's duet desperate for Rescue Me the conclusion to there steamy and slow burn romance.

Ruin Me by Claire Raye is now out in the world. I am a newbie to this duo, so this was my first meeting with the characters. Ruin Me is book 3, and I had no trouble jumping into this world. But I definitely wouldn’t mind going back to book 1 and learning more about these characters.
Caleb is dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic event when he moves in with his sister. It’s there he finds her roommate to be a constant comfort in his chaotic mind. Ruby is your typical college student, but with an unwanted admirer.
This book has the drama with all the feels. And ends in a cliffhanger that has me going wtf.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Ruin Me, is the story of Caleb and Ruby. Caleb is the twin brother of her best friend Sienna. I absolutely loved this story. The chemistry between Caleb and Ruby from the start was undeniable and the sexual tension off the charts. I enjoyed everything about this book. I loved that the story covered PTSD and the effects it has on the sufferer as well as those around them. All the characters were well thought out and I loved their personalities, except Professor Kellor! The story does end on a cliff hanger and making me want more NOW. 😱

Oh how Caleb and Ruby have stolen my heart 🥰. This first part of their duet starts off where we left the awesome foursome (I'm not sure on the name either, but let's roll with it 😉). Caleb has moved in with his sister Sienna and her roommate Ruby after the event's at the end of Sie and Reid's duet.
.
There's an instant attraction between Caleb and Ruby, but what I loved most is that their relationship truely starts off as a genuine friendship. Many friends-to-lovers books we don't get to see how the couple become friends we just know that they are. It was great to see two people meet and form this friendship and follow as their feelings blossom. Because of this, the book is a slow burn, which can sometimes be frustrating to read, but not in this case. It's slow burn because they both care enough about each other to not want to cross that line, to not risk the friendship they have built, to not hurt each other, but ultimately they cannot deny it any longer.
.
What the writing duo have done with Caleb's PTSD storyline is quite awe-inspiring. They showcase so well that the signs of PTSD are not always obvious, that from the outside it may seem like all is well, while inside their is a storm just waiting to hit at the most inopportune and unexpected moment. What they also do though, is show that in order to support someone with PTSD doesn't mean having all the answers, it doesn't mean treating people with kid-gloves and Ruby is the perfect person for Caleb to have in his life while he comes to terms with how his life has changed.
.
Ruby is just everything you would want in a friend, confidante and partner. She has an instinct when it comes to Caleb, when to push and when to hold back. When to speak, when to offer silent support, and when to just be, to just spend time together as friends doing everyday things.
.
Despite the deep, emotional topics and uncertainty of Caleb's condition and other events in the book, Ruin Me is also full of lighthearted humour, incredible relationships (familial, romantic and friendship alike), sizzling chemistry and ALL.THE.FEELS 😍
.
As a duet there is of course a cliffhanger and it seems this will be Caleb and Ruby's big test. I cannot wait to see how they deal with this and whether they will be able to overcome this, as individuals as much as in a couple. Caleb and Ruby have overtaken Sie & Reid as my favourite Hawthorn Hills couple and I'm so looking forward to seeing how their journey plays out 💕.

I will start by saying I have been not so patiently awaiting Caleb and Ruby. I was instantly intrigued by these two when we met them in Sienna and Reid’s Hawthorn Hills Books.
Claire Raye did not hold back and did not disappoint. Although you could get away with reading Ruin me without reading Complicate Me and Complete Me- reading those will only enhance your understanding of the characters and the event that lead to Ruin me even more.
There is a possible trigger warning as the hero of their book suffers from PTSD. However, I not only found it vital to the story- but as a theme it was discussed without stigma and I found it informative and interesting; including the impact it has on someone’s life, those who care for them and appropriate ways to assist them.
There is an instant connection and chemistry between the main characters of this book. It draws you in immediately and has you wanting to know more with each turn of the page! I was not able to put the book down and was easily able to connect to the world the authors have created.
The supplementary characters are just as wonderful, you want to know more about them without taking away from Caleb and Ruby, but rather enhancing their personalities and story line.
There is a little something for everyone; best friends sibling, friends/roommates to lovers, mystery and a cliff hanger ending that leaves you with questions and craving more – in the best possible way.
You will want the HEA so much for this couple. I loved this book so much and can no wait to see what Rescue Me holds.
Claire Raye was written wonderful book and it is great addition to Hawthorn Hills adventure.

Claire Raye what on earth did you do with my emotions? Ruin Me ruined me and there is so much more to this story than just a romance.
I knew going into this story that Caleb’s story will completely shatter me and this did that and more. This story was NOTHING like I expected and I loved every single moment of it. My heart breaks for Caleb and everything he went through in Providence and the aftermath that now has on him. The quick friendship he formed with Ruby is everything. I love it. I love how supportive Ruby is, how she doesn’t push him, she doesn’t force him, she doesn’t judge him. She is that shoulder he needs, that calm to the storm in his head. Their bond is deep. Caleb and Ruby’s story isn’t sweet and simple. It’s full of angst, passion, suspense. It is beautiful and I love seeing these two people learn to be the shoulder the other can lean on.
There are parts of this story that hit my deep in my soul. Parts I completely connected with because I knew exactly how Ruby was feeling in those moments. Parts that will forever stick with me because of how emotional they made me.
One of the things I love most about Claire Raye is the fact they aren’t afraid to handle tough topics. They don’t sugar coat anything. They don’t romanticize it. They show the struggles, the emotions and the effects it can have on the individual, but also those around them. PTSD can affect many people and it isn’t something that you’ll know if someone is suffering from it, like Caleb.
Ruin Me does end on one doozy of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see where Ruby and Caleb’s story goes. Ruin Me is a MUST READ best friends brother romance that will hit you deep.
Thank you Claire Raye for the advanced copy of their story.

Ruin Me by Claire Raye
Hawthorn Hills Duet #3
Who else is ready to meet Caleb and Ruby, get ready for release on the 28/10/2020!
“There’s so much comfort in being this close to him and with the way he’s finally sleeping peacefully, I know he feels it too. If this is what he needs to calm what ruins him, he can have me every night of his life.”
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and was beyond excited to know that Caleb and ruby would be getting there books as well. This book is heartbreakingly beautiful. It’s rough and raw but always sweet and cute, it’s got it all.
If you have read the first two books in this series you’ll know that Caleb has been through a lot. But now that he’s away for it all he still struggling with it. Having is only family close by is a big help but there is only so much some can hear “are you okay?” Before the crack. Ruby is a party girls and is loving her studies and school, she’s almost got her life on track, living with her best friend and doing her thing. Then her besties falls for childhood friend whilst they are away and when they return they don’t return alone. They return with a shell of a man struggling with resent events.
These two are the perfect mix, but could their problem ruin them both. This book was absolutely amazing, I really loved it. Bring on book 2!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Ruin Me and for that I’m very grateful.

This story is a beautifully written page-turning slow burn .... and I cannot wait to read the conclusion to Ruby and Caleb’s story!
Caleb has been through a lot in his life, he’s experienced things that people only see in nightmares... things that have impacted on him so profoundly that he is left struggling to find normalcy with PTSD. After moving across country with sister and best friend for a new start, he tries to navigate his new world and rebuild himself and his life. Ruby is his sister’s best friend ... and her caring and patient nature calls to him on a soul deep level. The sparks immediately fly.... and you can feel the attraction, but with everything in his world feeling like chaos - and Ruby knowing this - they develop an amazing friendship. When the presence of a creepy professor hits Caleb’s radar, the anti is upped and the attraction that was always beneath the surface flares to life...
The authors do an amazing job of making the love between these two develop organically and you find yourself turning the pages to see how they can find their way to each other. Ruby is such a strong protective heroine and you can’t help but fall for Caleb who is trying to make a life for himself... I look forward to reading their conclusion and where that cliffhanger will lead ❤️

4.25/5 stars!
Leaving Rhode Island after what happened to him, Caleb Parker goes to California with his sister and best friend to start a new life. Trying to overcome the effects of his trauma, Caleb befriends his sister's roommate, Ruby Collins, while fighting against his attraction to the spunky brunette because he knows he's broken and lost. But then Ruby's professor makes a move...
This New Adult college romance is griping, enjoyable, and flows smoothly as the hero battles inner demons and the heroine wants to befriend him. Yet close quarters and sexual attraction plays a part in changing their relationship. This story deals with PTSD and other issues that makes readers want to follow the journey the hero and heroine goes through with the he support of friends and family. This book is just the first of a duology featuring Caleb and Ruby, and I can't wait to read the couple's next book.

"I’ll ruin her and us and anything good and precious that might be between us. But it doesn’t change how much I want her, how she’s become so much more to me than just a person to talk to or a security blanket to keep my nightmares away."
Let’s just say Caleb and Ruby ruined me. After reading what happened to Caleb in Complete Me, I was so excited to get his book and it was very emotional at times. This book talks about the effects of ptsd and panic and anxiety attacks,it really opens up that conversation that I feel like a lot of people suffer from.
Caleb and his sister Sienna didn’t have a great upbringing and only had each other so it was beautiful to see a relationship blossom between Caleb and Ruby. With everything that happened to Caleb is was so nice to see him opening up to Ruby and letting her in a little bit! Ruby is probably my favorite, she takes to no crap and her love for her friends and family really shows.
Since this is a duet the ending does end on a cliff hanger and I can’t wait for the second book to see where Caleb and Ruby go.

Caleb is broken and trying to find his way. Ruby is a college student with a very clear vision for her future. Sparks immediately fly between the two but it takes some time for them to ignite. Ruby helps Caleb deal with the teams from his past and they are in a happy place. Until one night...to be continued!

Ruin Me book 3 in the Hawthorn Series was perfect! I was so stoked when it was revealed that Ruby and Caleb were getting their own duet! I loved Ruby’s character in Complicate Me. Ruin Me ruined me in the best way possible!
I love that aside from the romance and sexy steam in Claire Raye books, you also get real topics. In Ruin Me, we get to see the fallout from Complete Me. That has always been my favorite about the author duo. The ability to write a completely swoon worth story about real people with real issues. Ruin Me gives us an inside look at Caleb living with PTSD. What Caleb goes through and struggles is not often talked about. I loved that the Claire Raye ladies were able to do that so accurately. Ruby was amazing throughout the book! She’s there for Caleb through it all. The romance between Ruby and Caleb felt completely organic. Ruin Me was a slow burn, but the best kind! Ruby and Caleb gave me all the “feels” and left me wanting more!
A cliffhanger that has me impatiently waiting for the other half of the duet! Rescue Me coming 11/11/20!

An emotionally complex story of the true struggles of navigating life and a relationship with PTSD. While the narrative offers some witty banter, charismatic characters, and easy energy, Claire Raye does not shy away from the truth of this disorder. The plot offers refreshing honesty and down to earth, relatable characters. For those familiar with the series, we get to see more Caleb and his character arc is nothing less than marvelous. The book does end with a cliffhanger with the other due out not too far behind. The anticipation does add to the overall feel of the book. Great read. 5 stars.

From the first page I was in love with these two, and loved seeing their relationship grow and develop throughout the book! This is the continuation of The Hawthorn Hills series and it was unexpected but so good, so emotional and real. Caleb and Ruby was the perfect story of friends becoming something more.
Caleb after enduring a very traumatic event is unable to live a normal life, his fears were a constant and he was staying in the dark of his emotions. Ruby was the friend and the light that calmed all his fears. She was the only person that looked at him in a way that made him feel some how normal.
Their relationship started as friendship but became so much more. Their level of connection was emotional but so much passion. But live is not a calm ride, there is always bumps in the way. When something happens that trigger all the chaos inside Caleb's hearth, will this couple's relationship survived it? The cliffhanger of this story doesn't give anything away.
Now we have to wait for book two to find out what will become of Caleb and Ruby's love story.

Why? Why did it have to end this way😭?
After reading Reid and Sienna’s duet, i knew that Caleb and Ruby’s was going to be a good one. I didn’t expect to be heartbroken reading Caleb’s story and everything that he is going through. From page one to the very last one, every single word had me rooting for ruby and Caleb. They are both great together and absolutely made for each other. They friendship is one that everyone wishes for and their relationship is one of that has you rooting for them to succeed.
This story was beautifully written and the ladies of Claire Raye did an amazing job with it! I can’t wait to read the rest if the duet and to see where Ruby and Caleb go
My rating : 4.5stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After Complete Me, I know Caleb's story going to be an emotional one. Boy, was I right.
I have been waiting for Caleb's story ever since I finished Reid and Sienna's story. And let me tell you, the wait was worth it! You know it's going to be heartbreaking after what Caleb went through. But still, I was not prepared. My heart just broke for him. And Ruby.. She's AMAZING! She's just perfect for him. From the first page I was already in love with these two. I know their story was going to be amazing the moment they met after he moved into Sienna and Ruby's house. I loved seeing their relationship grow and develop.
I cannot wait for the continuation to their story!

• Ahhhhhh !!! I absolutely loveddddddddd this book😭!! Caleb and Ruby are just amazing together. There chemistry 🔥🤯😲. I also loved the fact that the author waited for them to get together instead of diving them getting together right away. The sexual tension was seen right away. The way this story is written is out of this world !! Everything is detailed perfectly where I can imagine myself being part of the book and like I’m watching a movie. I cannot wait for Rescue Me !!!! I will be waiting impatiently!!!! 😭😭

“I’ll ruin her and us and anything good and precious that might be between us. But it doesn’t change how much I want her….” – Caleb
This book was a page turner. The slow burn romance, the passion and all the things Caleb and Ruby went through in life created an unforgettable story.
The chemistry was undeniably there and I LOVED it.
The book also covers PTSD and the author really represents it realistically showing us all the bad parts of it.
It ended with a cliffhanger so I can't wait to read more!!

I LOVED reading Caleb and Ruby’s story. In the Complicate Series, Ruby is portrayed as this carefree party girl, so I loved reading her side of things and learning that there is much more to her than that. I couldn’t put this book down and I didn’t want to. Caleb’s story is truly heartbreaking and its far darker than Reid and Sienna’s side of things only because they didn’t have to live day in and day out like Caleb had to. Ruin me is makes you feel all the anguish, the anxiety and the troubles that Caleb faces on a daily basis and it does make you stop and think. Ruby and Caleb’s chemistry is off the charts and I ezspecailly loved the banter between them and the protectiveness that each one had for each other. I definitely recommend reading this series, but make sure you read Reid and Sienna’s story first so your not missing bits and pieces.

Wow! Ruin Me by Claire Raye is a masterpiece and one I've been waiting for forever since being first introduced to Caleb. I've been waiting for his story and was not disappointed.
Caleb and Ruby are such beautiful characters, and I loved seeing their connection and support for one another. Ruby being the strong one for Caleb, makes this book. The ending left me wanting to know what happens next.
I cannot wait to get my hands on book two. I highly recommend this book and this entire series.
