When ten suitcase-size nuclear weapons are stolen from the U.S. stockpile, the American President suspects terrorists are involved. He also thinks U.S. rogue government agents are colluding with the terrorists. Not knowing who to trust, he turns to his secret, hand-picked team to hunt down and catch the criminals. On the team are former Special Forces commander John (J.T.) Ryan, FBI Assistant Director Erin Welch, and CIA agent Rachel West. Suddenly, one of the nuclear devices is detonated in a rural area of Pennsylvania. Although the explosion kills few people, it causes a massive Electronic Magnetic Pulse. The EMP knocks out all data transmission for hundreds of miles – television, telephone, internet, cell phones, 911 communication, and electronic banking cease completely. The information shutdown causes panic among the population in Philadelphia and nearby cities. As Ryan and the team race against time to find the terrorists, the trail leads them to a sinister group of Russians. Can Ryan, Erin, and Rachel stop the criminals before the U.S.’s nationwide communication system is destroyed and the country collapses into chaos?

Tripwire by Lee Gimenez is the latest installment of the author's J.T. Ryan series. Former commando Ryan is summoned by the American President to recover nuclear weapons stolen from a top secret location. He teams with FBI agent Erin Welch and CIA agent Rachel West in a desperate mission to intercept the suspected terrorists. The hunt takes them from Pennsylvania to Vancouver to Paraguay as Ryan proceeds along a deadly path fraught with deception and imminent disaster.
The element of betrayal permeates the storyline with panache. Erin, backed by FBI Director Scott Cooper, and Rachel, under command of Deputy Director Alex Miller, suspect an information leak but cannot substantiate their misgivings. It is left to Ryan to solve the mystery after a suitcase bomb results in an EMP strike leaving Pennsylvania in a state of chaos. He follows his leads to Vancouver, where the terror cell prepares an attack designed to devastate the West Coast. Readers will be unable to put this down until they reach the harrowing climax.
For espionage lovers, suspense/thriller fans and Gimenez's growing legion of fans, Tripwire by Lee Gimenez is one you can't miss.
I've never read a bad book by Lee Gimenez and the streak continues. Not only is TRIPWIRE a heart pounding novel, we learn more and more about his characters, like peeling an onion. With the twisty plot, Gimenez takes the reader to the final pages for a terrific conclusion. Another one hit out of the park for Lee Gimenez!
What attracted me to the story was the cover. And it didn’t disappoint me. Good plot and just the right amount of sexual activity. I look forward to reading the other stories of Ryan & his exploits.
Lee Gimenez is a thriller-writing powerhouse. Tripwire, his 16th novel, should be a real pleasure both for those loyal readers who eagerly anticipate his next offering and for those uninitiated who are looking for a cutting edge, contemporary thriller to keep them up at night. Gimenez really knows how to keep the pages turning. In the latest installment of the J.T. Ryan series, the familiar Delta Force operative-turned-investigator is commissioned by the FBI to track down ten “backpack nukes” that were hijacked in transit from the Los Alamos National Laboratory to Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. At the same time he is also pulled into solving a murder that hit close to home. Are the two crimes related? The question drives the whole story. So turn off your phone, pick up a copy of Tripwire, and buckle in for a face-paced thrill ride, Gimenez-style.
