I think I have come to appreciate this series more now that I am caught up and have to wait on releases.
After nine books, I am still interested and am just as anxious for the next book as when I first started meeting the Hamiltons.
To have so many characters and have their personalities shine throughout a series of life events, is not something that every author possess but I have found this with Victoria Quinn.
Dex is just as I remember him but he has a temper that when it came out, you became a bit scared.
This novel also felt more youthful.
Unlike Derek's preference for young girls with daddy issues, Dex is just young. He also has found a way to break down each character in a way Deacon and Derek never did. I especially love learning more about Daisy.
The thing I have always loved about this series is that there is no rush to fall in love. They take their time to work through their issues and you are a part of that build-up to family and kids.
Sicily is great! Another plus because oftentimes we find the females in a series mimicking each other.
Thing is, I don't know her past this low point in her life but I am willing to wait and learn throughout the series.
However, I found the praises lopped on Dex to at times be too much. I understand that some jobs require a bit of an ego but I think we could turn down the Dex praise a little.
I felt like we got three sides to the character in one novel and I can't wait to learn and grow with this couple.

Boy you guys are in for a treat. Dex is Deacon and Cleo’s son and a renowned heart surgeon. Everything he could ever want and every dream he ever had has come true until one tragic event changed everything. I’m not gonna lie I’m so exhausted I stayed up all night reading again and now I’m going to pay for it later but this book is so worth it!

I didn't think I would like Dex's story as much as his dad's and his brother's but oh my lord I do! I really appreciate that Dex isn't completely stand off-ish with Sicily from the beginning. I very excited to read more.

Ms. Quinn alway writes a wonderful book and this is no exception. The book is well written with interesting vivid characters. The story is full of drama and emotion. I can’t wait for the next book

We met Dex as the carefree middle child, the boy who was very devoted to his medical career that was turning into something quite successful. He brought a lightness to Derek’s story that we needed at times when things were so stressful, and we could only envision what his life would be like.
Boy were we wrong. What happens at the onset of this ninth installment makes us turn completely around, missing the happy go lucky successful doctor because of a trauma that he can’t get past. Dex is the world’s best Heart Surgeon and he’s married to the love of his life Catherine. Her father needs a surgery that no other heart surgeon will take on so Dex is the one to perform it. There are risks of course but if anyone can do it, it’s Dex. Until it’s not .
That starts the downward spiral for Dex – Catherine’s father doesn’t make it through surgery and no one quite knows the reason. Dex did everything right yet when he was taken off bypass, Allen didn’t make it. Catherine holds Dex responsible for the death and that’s something that she can’t get past. She breaks Dex’s heart and takes all his money when she divorces him. He refuses to practice any more and we find him as the IT guy working for Cleo now.
Enter Sicily, the leading lady of this story. A girl who’s landed a gig working for Cleo and she’s on the cusp of greatness. Great Job, great Man, until that man isn’t so great. She soon learns that he’s married and has kids and her world is shattered. It’s only when she’s working for Cleo and meets Dex and his humor and good nature that her life starts to turn around.
Knowing Deacon and Cleo as we do, we know that they’re not going to settle for Dex working where he’s not using his talents. They have an intervention of sorts, and words are spewed – words that you can’t really take back. There’s anger and fear and the underlying desire for Dex to return to greatness, but he’s not ready.
That’s a theme that we see over and over again in this series if i’m honest. After Derek’s rocket failed, we saw him implode and refuse to work on anything that may have a chance at failure. It took the love and support of his family and that of a woman that cared for him and not what he brought to the world in order to turn that cornder.
For the bulk of this ninth book, we see Dex fight his demons, and we see Cleo and Sicily take charge of what could be an amazing future. They set up a practice for Dex, convince him that he’s worthy of so much more, and push him on the path to resurgence.
There’s a patience that has the same situation of Catherine’s father that needs him – Dex is the only doctor that will perform the surgery and it’s a matter of getting over his ghosts to even take a consultation and see if he’ll ever get past his fears.
Underneath this story line we also have that of the boss/employee attraction as we’ve come to appreciate it throughout the Soulless series. First it was Cleo working for Deacon, running his life and making him realize the value in just about everything. Then it was Emerson and Derek – showing that it’s possible to let someone in and see the better parts of life. So that’s the journey that we’re starting to take with Sicily and Dex although nothing has come of it just yet. we know that they each find the other attractive and not just from a physical level. They relate on an emotional level as well, but I wonder as a reader what it will take to get them to acknowledge the other and act upon it. I guess that’s what book ten will be.
The other bit of this story is Daisy – the youngest Hamilton. We’re starting to get a glimpse into her persona and her life right now – so that once this trilogy for Dex is over, we can slide into her world. I can’t wait to continue on with Dex and Sic and I can’t wait to see what comes next for Daisy too.

Lawd! What a book! Dex was happily married until one day his world came crashing down when he had to do open heart surgery on his father in law Allen. Surgery wasn't successful and Allen didn't make it. Dex's wife Catherine basically blamed him and divorced him and took half of everything! That bitch!!! So Dex closed down his practice and went to work with his mom at the Trinity building for a year. One day Cleo hires a new conscerge named Sicily. Sicily recently got her heart broken from a married man. What an douchebag! There's the man Marc that really needs a surgery only Dex can do but Dex just keeps saying that's not him anymore. Marc's wife Angelica goes to Deacon and they corner Dex trying to convince him to do the surgery. Which in return causes shit to hit the fan and he even puts in his 2 weeks notice. Finally one night Sicily runs into Dex and convinces him why he should do the surgery. He goes to Deacon and apologizes. Clearly makes arrangements to make Sicily his personal assistant. He finally meets with Marc. After a EKG he sees Marcs is worse off than expected. Surgery is scheduled for nexted week. Before surgery Sicily tells Dex she had a hole in her heart at birth and she truly believes in him!! Dex goes in and the surgery was a huge success!!! I cant wait to find out what happens nexted with Dex and Sicily!!

Between Deacon, Derek, and Dex, I think Dex's story (so far) is the best. I love that Cleo is very much a part of each of her sons' books. There is really no romance in this part of the story (but lots of attraction). Daisy gets a whole lot of page time helping her brother try to work through his issues (she is an interesting character and I am hoping the author will give us her story). Sicily is working through her own issues, that just show what a good person she is and proves once again that Cleo is fantastic at reading people. With Dex hiding from the world, the whole Hamilton family is doing their best to get (ie PUSH) him back to his life's previous passion.
This is a very intriguing, page-turning story. I love the way all of the Hamiltons and Sicily pull together to support Dex. I also love that Chloe supports Sicily. This story flowed smoothly and every spare second I had kept me picking this book up so that I could see where the story was heading. After the previous books in this series, I kind of felt disappointed that this one did not end in a major cliffhanger, but it ended perfectly for Dex. The anticipation for the next book is killing me.
The Black series, the Boss series, the Soulless series, you can't go wrong with Victoria Quinn.

Wow! This book is fantastic! It is part of an amazing series! This book is about two people that will steal your heart . Dex and Sicily meet under the watchful eye of Cleo at the Trinity building. The place that is the epicenter of what goes on. These two have been through some really difficult times as individuals. They have suffered some deep wounds to the heart and their feeling of who they are. You need to get this and see what it is about. No spoilers here. Ms. Quinn is a master of building her characters with such finesse that they pull you in and envoke feelings so well that you feel them with the characters as you read. The story plays like a movie in your head as you read! It is fantastic! I was on a rollercoaster of emotions as I read. I love when a book can do that to me! Loved this book! I can not wait to get the next one in the series!

This book made me an emotional wreck. Lol. I haven’t cried so much reaching a book ever. I love this family and the love they have for each other. The heartbreak and emotional distress that each character shows make the book that much more real. Dex is a man that wanted nothing more than to make his wife happy but life always challenges things. With marriage, most things take work but only if both parties are willing to put in the work. Dex’e wife was a disappointment, but I kinda understood why? Didn’t make it less disappointing though. But ohhhh...Sicily, the perfect coworker and friend! I loved Dex and Sicily honest and natural friendship. And of course momma bear always knows. Lol. Amazing book and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The story of how Sicily becomes employed at Trinity where Dex is working along his mum with Cleo.
Sometimes you get annoyed and frustrated with Dex that he was so talented and walked away and has no inclination to go back to medicine.
Sicily is overcoming a broken heart and puts her all into work. Then Cleo says she is fired and her heart drops and panics, only to be told you will work for Dex when he realises he needs to go back to medicine.
I couldn’t put this story down and wanted to see if Dex and Sicily get together.
It’s good to have Deacon, Cleo, Derek and Daisy in the story.
A brilliant escapism from the real work. Now March needs to hurry up.

I have been eagerly awaiting this book and it was everything I was hoping and more. I loved Sicily straight away and obviously had already ‘met’ Dex in previous books in this series.
The storyline was well written and really emotional. Although it was reminiscent of Cleo and Deacon, and Derek and Emerson’s story in the way that a strong woman has to push the brilliant man into completing a difficult task, I think it was only because of the family traits coming through.
This storyline had lots of interesting and different elements to it and I particularly liked that Sicily had almost met a completely different Dex to the one that she got to know as the story developed. An absolute must read.

Holy cow!!! With this being the 9th book in the series it is just as good as the rest! Dex is the son of Deacon and Cleo who is a heart surgeon! His life comes crashing down when he works on a client who is close to him. He quits the medical field and starts working at the Trinity building with his mom. He battles with last demons through the book. He meets Sicily who was also hired by Cleo to work in the Trinity building. When something tragic happens to a client in the building Dex is forced to help. Dex and Sicily have great chemistry and I can’t wait to see how their relationship plays out! This is another amazing book from Victoria Quinn!

Man I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did with others in this series. This book had me on a emotional rollercoaster I hadn't had my eyes tears up so much as I did while reading this story. I just loved this family and the way they love each others. You could literally feel the heartbreak and the emotional distress that Dex felt it made it so real. I can't wait to see what else is in store for this series. Too much unnecessary cursing,
This book has a good plot, but it's dragged out too far. How can someone be that stubborn and not true to their personality, which doesn't just stop when you get hurt. If you love helping people, you can't just stop & walk away from people who need you. Stop all the cursing too, this doesn't seem like a great family, intelligent people are more creative in there dictation, comments, etc. Read Georgette Heyer to learn how to write without all the cursing.

Another great read from Victoria Quinn! Dex and Sicily meet under the watchful eye of Cleo at the Trinity building. Dex has walked away from a devastating incident and Sicily ended a relationship with a lying boyfriend. Both have broken hearts that need to mend. First acquaintances, then friends, they move towards being more. In true Victoria Quinn style, this story fleshes out and grabs readers imagination. A wonderful read!

So it turns out Deacon and Cleo’s kids are all brilliant !! Dex is an amazing world class heart surgeon working for Cleo after having his own heart broken instead of doing the job he was made to do, he’s basically given up but is outwardly happy, Sicily the new employee whose had her own problems is just the woman to take him in hand, along with Cleo and Deacon of course. Brilliant, heart wrenching read.

April 24, 2021Loved loved this story. I’m continuing to read Dex and Sicily’s story in the next book. I can’t wait for Dex to realize he’s in love with Sicily. She’s loved him from afar since meeting him. I actually feel like I’m in the same room with them and I want to choke Dex because he’s so dumb and blind. I love everything about these characters and I feel Dexs pain but he’s got to get over it. I can’t wait for Dex and Sicily to finally get together!!

Loving Dex's story he is such a sweet, kind, funny guy and his wife treated him very unfair. So he ends up divorced and she takes half his money. He then leaves his practice and works for his mom there he meets Sicily and they become friends. She encourages him and pushes him to be the person he was meant to be. I am excitingly waiting for next week to see where their relationship goes.

4.0 stars. Book 9 . Between Deacon, Derek and Dex story. I think Deacons was by far my favorite. All 9 books have been a 4 or 5 stars read for me. I loved how Dex and Sicily met. I want get into that, but I can tell you they both been through some painful things. This is the first part Of Dex's story. Can't wait to see what happens between these two in the next book. Happy Read

I've always liked the spare writing style in this series that moves things along so quickly. I didn't feel the chemistry or emotional connection between the leads in this one like I did with the other couples, but I did like the interactions between all the Hamiltons, and just seeing OG couple Cleo and Deacon so much.

I didn't think Dex's story would be so emotional and compelling. In previous books he comes across as a bit of a joker and player but he seems the deepest of the three Hamilton men, as he has both his mom and dad's characteristics.

I loved this book so much! It was so exciting to see Dex get back into medicine & do what he was made to do even if he was pushed to get there. I’m anxious to see what happens next between Sicily and Dex. Worth the read!!

The latest book of the Hamilton family is live. This is Dex and Sicily’s story. Dex is a heart surgeon who is recovering from his own broken heart. He meets Sicily who has also recently ended a relationship. Another emotional rollercoaster in the series.

Really enjoyed this book, in fact it even brought tears to my eyes and I let a few of them fall. I started the next book in this series and I'm anxious to see if there will be a happy ending for the pair known as Dex and Sicily?????
