I was a bit skeptical of reading this book at first as I am really big on world building but this book defied all my expectations. The authors did an amazing job at building their worlds in just a conversation. They were able to really get across what exactly they wanted their readers to see, feel, hear, etc. These stories really reminded me of the Two sentence horror stories that were on the internet a few years ago.

If you love stories that get their meaning across in a very short, in the point manner than this is the book for you.

I truly liked all the stories. Room and Soul, The Goblin and the Girl, and The Toad Stone were more my style, but that's not in the least saying the others were in anyway lacking. Without giving much away, I do wish a character had gotten their comeuppance in the story the Goblin and The Girl. I guess the treacherous one will in time. I just wanted to read about it happening. I liked that these stories were short enough to read in one sitting, that they were complete in and of themselves, and they gave a good insight into the author's style. I will check some of their books out.

Wonderful, disturbing, surprising
That's how I would describe this book. The short stories all stand well on their own, and the contrast between one story and the next is delightfully jarring; like stepping from a biting wind into a warm house.
I wish this book had been longer as I finished this comfortably in one afternoon, and would dearly have liked to read more.
