Alex & Juniper... Poor Alex, he has had a hard time. Losing his family and his wife, raising children on his own. Juniper is an orphan and she has had a hard time as well. I thought these two were well suited for one another and what each other needed!
This was a good holiday read. Alex is single dad trying to raise his daughters. Juniper has liked him for a long time. However, his life is complicated. Luckily in the end everything works out for them and they get their happy ending.
Rancher’s Family Christmas is the first book in a series that focuses on a set of brothers that live in a small town. They grew up on the ranch, but their mother’s since passed and their father is wheelchair-bound. The first book focuses on the eldest of the three brothers, Alex. In addition to taking over the family ranch and primary care for their father, Alex suffered the loss of his wife and is raising three girls as a single father. When he runs into his younger brother’s friend Juniper, she decides to lend a helping hand to give the family the Christmas they deserve.
Character-wise, I enjoyed the cast of characters. Alex’s family, particularly his daughters, were great to watch, and I loved the dynamic between the Juniper and the rest of the family, since she has a history of spending time with the family as Alex’s brother’s best friend. As the rest of the family arrives home for Christmas, Alex’s brothers add another layer to her relationships with the family.
The writing style for this book is the major reason this isn’t a higher rating for me. There were times when I felt the dialogue was awkward, and that could also be said for the prose at times in the book. The writing style pulled me out of the story and distracted me sometimes, particularly with some of the dialogue in the romantic scenes.
All in all though, it was an easy read that was enjoyable.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I loved this book. Alex has three daughters and lost his wife and then his mom. His father is ill and he has a ranch to run. He is heartbroken when he realises his daughter has written Santa that she wants a big family Christmas and that she is missing family since her mom died. He is trying to keep things together and give his girls what they need. Juniper’s parents died when she was young and she never felt wanted. She always felt welcome at the Harvey ranch. She is more than happy to help Alex with his girls. The fact she had or has a crush on him is irrelevant, yeah right. Loved the story and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

No one understood or appreciated family quite like Juniper Marsh who, at a young age, had her parents snatched from her in a plane crash. And while the young parentless child was sent to live with her aunt and uncle who provided her a place to live, a bed in which she could sleep and food to eat, she never felt loved or nurtured. And while she lost her family and did not after the death of her parents, personally experience a nurturing family, she did vicariously experience love and family at the home of her childhood friend Will Harvey and his two older brothers and their loving parents. So, growing up on her aunt and uncle’s ranch located next to the Harvey ranch, Juniper did witness the loving, nurturing family of her young friend Will and his older brothers, Alex and Travis.
While Juniper was only child living with her childless aunt and uncle, the Harvey brothers allowed the young girl to observe the healthy interactions of siblings which she would never experience. And, the eldest Harvey brother, Alex, provided the young Juniper with her first experience with vicarious romantic love—she crushed on the eldest Harvey brother throughout her young years until Alex went off to college and returned with Fiona, the woman who became his wife and the mother of his three daughters.
But now, the family life of the Harvey family is no longer idyllic. 5 years earlier, young mother Fiona was taken from her family by leukemia when her oldest daughter, Sophia was 7, Thora was 2 and the youngest Lizzie was a baby. And, within two years of the death of the young mother, the family was again disrupted when a car accident took the life of the loving mother and grandmother and left the senior Harvey physically limited requiring a wheelchair and a nurse to assist him in daily activities. And the two younger brothers have left home pursuing their careers.
And, as another Christmas approaches the Harvey family without mother or grandmother, the middle Harvey daughter, 7-year-old Thora, has written Santa asking for a Christmas with family and decorations like when her mother was alive—a memory that could only reside with her older sister, 12-year-old Sophia. With a challenge that is beyond his ability to manage alone, both physically and emotionally, Dad Alex begins by reaching out to his brothers, Travis, a rodeo rider, and Will, a student of veterinary medicine, to come home for Christmas to meet the memory of a Christmas filled with family. And, the loving, but desperate father, reaches out to former neighbor and youngest brother Will’s bff, Juniper, for help and guidance. The adult Juniper, an artist and owner of a crafts boutique—Crafting Cottage—in the nearby town, sells, crafts and offers classes in making ornaments and other seasonal decorations. And without hesitation, Juniper offers to help her former crush, her best friend’s brother and now a frustrated dad trying to provide his daughters with a Christmas filled with family and seasonal celebration.
Leslie North leads her readers through the challenges of the evolving dynamics of the Harvey family as the brothers begin to close ranks returning to their roots, supporting each other in facing the trials and triumphs of life. I enjoy North’s romances, and anticipate following the Travis and Will on the road to matrimony—possibly connecting with Scarlett, their dad’s nurse and Margot, Juniper’s business associate. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARC, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my “read again” collection with Kindle Unlimited.
Her heart had made a space just for him This is book one in a new series form this author. We read about the love story of Alex and Juniper. He’s a widowed single father, looking after his three daughters (Sophia, Thora and Lizzie), and has taken over the family ranch since his father’s wheelchair-bound after an accident that took his mother’s life. I mean, how much tragedy and loss can one person or family endure? Anyway, his middle daughter Thora had written a letter to Santa, forgoing any and all presents in lieu of the perfect, big family Christmas. He called his brothers Will and Travis to help make that wish come true. His father’s nurse Scarlett also gave him an idea to cheer the girls’ spirits up. She suggested an ornament decorating class in a cute little shop in town, The Crafting Cottage. Despite his father’s assumed disapproval of leaving the ranch for the afternoon, he wanted to make his girls happy. As he got the girls settle at a table a voice he recognised welcomes the participants. It was his former girl next door and his Will’s childhood best friend Juniper. She had grown into a beautiful woman. She too recognised him, as the boy she’d developed a crush on when she was just seven years old. As she spent some time at their table, young Thora blurted out an invitation for her to join them at Christmas. She said she’d consider it. What ensues is a bumpy ride of maneuvering attraction, possible feelings, worrying about what everyone else will think. Sometimes it’s the opinions and comments from others that can spoil things, or push people together. It’s a really emotional read that pulls at your heart strings. It’s both heart-breaking and heart-warming. I really felt for Alex and Juniper, for different reasons. There was so much loss and self-doubt, and it took so much to take back what they wanted, needed and deserved. I did however feel that the story ended unfinished. But, knowing it’s the first book in the series, I’m almost certain that we’ll catch up with these characters again soon, to get an update on what’s happening with them. I give this book four and a half ornamental stars. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
'Ranchers Family Christmas' by Leslie North is the first book in her new series Christmas at the Harvey Ranch and tells the story of Alex Harvey, a widowed single dad of three daughters, and Juniper Marsh, the girl next door and his brother’s best friend. Alex has been trying to keep things together since his wife died five years ago and then losing his mother in a car accident two years later which put his father into a wheelchair. Taking care of his family and running the ranch is about all he can handle right now but he does want to give his girls a nice Christmas. Then he sees the letter his daughter, Thora, wrote to Santa asking for a real family Christmas like they used to have and he realizes he hasn't been doing as good of a job as he should.
Juniper was surprised to see Alex and his daughters in her boutique taking her ornament class. She thought she was over her girlhood crush of Alex but he still makes her heart beat. As she checks on their progress Alex invites her to his house for Christmas because he knows that her Aunt and Uncle have gone on a cruise and she would be by by herself. He told her that Will, his brother, would be home and would love to see her as well. Later Juniper finds out about the letter that Thora wrote and she decides that she will help Alex make it the best Christmas his girls have ever had.
Ms. North does not disappoint! The start of her new series is just fantastic. From the first page you are drawn to Alex and the Harvey family until the last page with Alex and Juniper finding happiness together. Loved how everyone worked so hard to make Thora's gift come true. Great book with wonderful characters, an engaging plot, and fabulous world descriptors. Get your copy!! Can not wait for the next book.

Alex hasn't had it easy the past 5-6 years; he lost his wife to illness only to have his parents get into a horrible car accident. Even though he's still dealing with the loss if his wife, he once again is dealing with loss, this time the loss his mother in the car accident which also left his dad confined to a wheelchair & no longer able to care for the families ranch. Alex finds himself raising three young daughter while no longer having any female influence in his life, dealing with conditioning hair, brushing hair but 'not too hard', braids and in the future makeup and boys. What's this widowed dad to do when his middle daughter writes a letter to Santa asking for a 'real family' for Christmas? Enter Juniper, who crushed on Alex, who's families ranch was next door to her aunt & uncle, the same aunt and uncle she came to live with when her parents died. Not only did she crush on Alex all those years' before, but, Alex's younger brother Will became her best friend when she move to her aunt and uncles. What happens when Alex and Juniper see each other again? Could Juniper still be crushing on Alex? This time will her feelings be recepicated? While I liked the storyline and plot, this one didn't have the usual heat and steam I've liked in Leslie North's other books. I also felt the ending left the reader hanging and with no bonus epilogue I am left hoping the readers will find out what happened in books 2 & 3 of the Christmas at the Harvey Ranch series. But, I still would recommend Rancher's Family Christmas because if you want Christmas and cowboy no one sees to write this better than Leslie North! Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I also purchased the book/read with Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited opinion with my voluntary review.
Alex Harvey's life was tough, his wife Fiona had died leaving him with three young children to raise, the youngest didn't even remember her, life was to get tougher when his parents were in a car crash leaving his mother dead and his father in a wheelchair. Ales was trying to juggle running the ranch, bringing up three young girls and looking after his disabled father who was grumpy and always made Alex feel inadequate, he thought that he was doing ok until he read a heartbreaking letter to Santa from his middle daughter Thora saying that she didn't want any presents, she just wanted a family Christmas like when Mom was alive. Alex was devastated, he had to do something he would try to get his youngest brother Will who was at vet school and his middle brother Travis, a rodeo rider, home for Christmas. Alex decided he needed a treat for his three daughters, what better than an ornament decorating session at the local craft store. Juniper Marsh ran the local craft store with the help of her friend, life hadn't been good to Juniper, her parents had been killed in a car crash and she had been palmed off to live with an aunt and uncle who didn't really want her. Juniper spent most of her days next door at the Harvey ranch with her best friend Will, what a surprise when the Harvey brother that she had always had a massive crush on walked into her store with his three beautiful daughters. This story follows the blossoming love between Juniper and Alex, the chemistry was palpable but so were the doubts, they led different lives, they had different aims, he had to protect his children, was Alex in this for the right reasons. This is a beautifully told story full of emotion, love and tears.

This book was delightful! Juniper and Alex’s story is sweet with some added spice, a few twists and some angst added in for good measure. A young girl’s letter to Santa leads to new love and renewed joy for Alex and Juniper. Alex asks Juniper to help him fulfill his daughter’s wish for a perfect family Christmas and discovers love all over again. When his wife died, Alex believed he would never find love again, but Juniper had opened his heart again. His girls love her and the house has a new lighter, joyful feeling. For Juniper, time spent with Alex and his daughters is blissful. She has loved Alex since they were children, though he never noticed. Used to a solitary, lonely life, for the first time in forever, Juniper is experiencing what feels like to be in a family. As she helps the family get ready for Christmas, she and Alex grow closer. Juniper can’t help dreaming about a future together… until Alex abruptly calls a halt to their relationship. Will it take a Christmas Miracle to put them back on the path to a happily ever after?
I loved all of the characters in this book. They have flaws, quirks and traits that are realistic and endearing. Alex is a teddy bear who has been hurt and is fearful of getting hurt again. Juniper is a warm-hearted, generous soul who is beautiful inside and out. Alex’s daughters are adorable and so willing to open their hearts to Juniper. His father is a curmudgeon with a soft centre he hides very well, and he is more likely to criticize than give praise. All in all, these characters and their story are very engaging and entertaining.

This is the story of Alex Harvey, a single father and rancher; Alex's daughters Sophia, Thora, and Lizzie; and Juniper Marsh. Alex's widowed father Abbott lives on the ranch with Alex and his three daughters. Thora writes a letter to Santa asking for a big family Christmas like when her late mother was alive. Alex persuades his younger rodeo star brother, Travis, and youngest veterinary school student brother Will to come home for Christmas. The family had not gathered together since Alex's mother's funeral three years ago. Alex's mother did not survive the car accident that injured Alex's father. To cheer up his daughters, Alex takes them to a Christmas ornament decorating class taught by Juniper in her crafts store in town. Juniper grew up next door to the Harveys at her aunt and uncle's place after her parents died in a plane crash. She was Will's best friend and had a childhood crush on Alex. Sparks fly between Alex and Juniper, but will they be enough? Alex and Juniper both have baggage. Alex may still not be over the death of his wife Fiona from leukemia, and he feels like there isn't enough time for anything other than his daughters and his duties at the ranch. Alex's father always pushed him to put the ranch first, ahead of everything else. Juniper's aunt and uncle didn't want her, she felt like she would never have family of her own. Can Alex find the courage to open his heart and leave the past behind? Can Juniper take a leap of faith? Read the book and find out, it is heart-warming and engaging, 4.5 stars.

This book was amazing from start to finish and this author Leslie North never disappoints in any books I’ve read from her so far. Alex Harvey had it all until tragedy struck, first his wife 5yrs ago to leukaemia leave her 3 girls Sophia, Thora, Lizzie behind and then loosing his mother to a car accident that crippled his father now leaving Alex to run the ranch while juggling his girls and watching out for his father as well and with so much going on there is little time for himself and how Thora wants a real Christmas like they use to have when her mum and grandma where alive and so now Alex is on a mission to make his girls happy. Juniper Marsh lost her parents in a plane crash and came to stay with her aunt and uncle but it never felt right yes she had a bed and food but they where never affectionate and she always felt lonely until she meet her neighbours the Havery family who made her part of the family and there son’s Alex, Travis, Will. Will and Juniper became best friends and juniper had a crush on Alex and now fast forward Juniper is asked to help out and she doesn’t hesitate and being close to Alex again doesn’t help her strong feelings toward him still. Alex is surprised by has attraction to Juniper but then he always thought she was beautiful but now wow she is more beautiful than before and he wonders is she has feelings for him. Now with the family all home for Christmas can Alex get his Christmas wish and have future with Juniper or not.

Beautiful love story. I loved Juniper & Alex's story it was beautiful & full of wonderful characters. When he set about granting his daughter Thora's wish from Santa of a family Christmas with his brothers following the loss of both his wife & their mother he ended up with a surprise. When he bumped into Juniper at her shop with his daughters having not seen her for years they felt a spark instantly between them & his girls loved her straight away. Having know each other since they were little being that she was his brother's friend & spent a lot of time at his house they felt at ease with each other & the girls quickly falling into mini family but he was scared of hurting his daughters & the pressure of looking after the Ranch he pushed her away leaving her devestated. She had confessed to having feelings for him when she was younger & even his brothers knew it & could see they were happy together but didn't want either to get hurt as they had both been hurt before him losing his wife but she had been orphaned as a child growing up without a loving caring family like they'd had. However, it took his daughters reaction to Juniper not being there on Christmas day & an interesting talk from his dad to make him realise what he could be losing. I was so desperate for Juniper to have a happy ever after with her own family & when it didn't happen I ended up reading dabbng the tears from my eyes at times.

Alex a single dad to three daughters saw a letter his middle daughter Thora send to Santa asking for no presents, but to only have a family Christmas like they use to when her mother and grandmother were alive. Alex lost his wife 5 years earlier to leukemia and several years later his parents were in a terrible car accident, his mother died, leaving his father in a wheelchair and Alex to run the family ranch. Alex wanted to do something special for his girls and took them to a craft shop where the owner was having a class on making Christmas ornaments. To his surprise it was the little girl who use to live next door, and is best friends with his brother Will, Juniper March, but she is not a little girl but a beautiful, curvy woman. Juniper alway had a huge crush on Alex, which everyone knew except Alex. She offered to help Alex give his girls the best Christmas ever, by helping him decorate his home and even help him make something special for his daughters. With the time they are spending together Alex and Juniper are getting closer, thinking about one another and wants to be together all the time, until Alex realizes that he and is daughters are getting too attached to Juniper and that worried Alex, if he and Juniper break up it would break his daughters hearts all over again, so he broke up with Juniper before he hurts his children and not worrying about his own heart. I am volunteering to leave a ARC review of this book.

Ms. North penned a intriguing holiday second-chance romance. Her writing style is easy to follow. She does a great job with dialog, POV and descriptive language. There are so many memorable scenes that drew me deeper and deeper into this character-driven plot. It was interesting that the antagonist in this plot is not a person per se, but, the emotions of guilt and self-doubt.
Rancher's Family Christmas is the first book in the Christmas at the Harvey Ranch series. This story will break your heart wide open and then fill it with love to glue it back together. Juniper Marsh was an only child who was orphaned early when her parents died in a plane crash. She then went to live with her aunt and uncle one their ranch. They provided the necessities but did not nourish her soul or give her the love and warmth she needed. Will Harvey grew up on the family ranch with two older brothers and their parents. The house was always filled with love and warmth, even if there were sibling fights and hard work. Juniper and Will became best friends and she would go to the Harvey Ranch a lot and spend time with the family. Juniper developed a major crush on the eldest brother, Alex, which continued until he brought a young Fiona back to the ranch and they got married. But years later we find that the Harvey family has suffered some terrible losses. With it being the Holiday season things are about to further change for the family but maybe this time some wishes will come true.

This was a wonderful way to start the series Alex and Juniper's story is a heartwarming romance. Alex is struggling since he lost his wife 5 years ago then his mother died in a car accident and his father was put in a wheelchair in the same accident 2 years after he lost his wife plus he's trying to raise his 3 daughters who also lost their mom and grandmother. Juniper understands losing your parents at a young age hers were in a tragic plane crash that caused her to grow up next-door to the Harvey's ranch where she lived with her aunt and uncle. She never felt loved or part of a family like how it was when she went over to her best friend Will Harvey's house. When Alex sees a letter that his daughter Thora writes to Santa he's gutted. He takes the girls to Juniper's boutique so that they can take an ornament class and he can invite her over for Christmas so she doesn't have to be alone. When Juniper finds out about the letter she decides that she's going to help make it the best Christmas ever for his girls. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this book to see what happens.

Alex Harvey's middle daughter, Thora asked Santa for an old fashioned Christmas like they use to have for Christmas. It broke his heart that he had not been giving his three daughters every thing they needed, since the deaths of their mother and grandmother. He planned to change that this year, he was calling his brother, Will and doing his best to get ahold of Travis trying to get both of them home. His father's nurse put him onto an ornament making class for something fun to do with the girls. The class was where he ran into Juniper March, his brother Will's best friend from high school. She spent a lot of time at the Harvey Ranch growing up. There was an instant connection between Alex and Juniper, but whenever they seemed to get to close Alex would back off. He would start seeing it as a betrayal to his deceased wife or he might get hurt all over again. Then his dad's motto was "the ranch always came first" would pop into his mind would not help either. Juniper was always left in a state of confusion and feelings of not being wanted. Just like all her Christmases before, would this one turn out to be any different? Enjoy this beautiful heart warming story.

Leslie North is one of my favorite authors. I have read many of her books. She is a very talented author,,,wishing there were more hours in a day for reading her books. Loved the Ranchers Family Christmas' the first book in her new series, Christmas at the Harvey Ranch. She brings to life the characters Alex Harvey and Juniper Marsh. Nobody writes a romance quite like Leslie North, and this is no exception. Seven-year-old Thora asks Santa for a perfect Christmas just like before her Mother and Grandmother died. Alex calls his brothers home, and then finds a class to take his three girls to for a little Christmas spirit. There he meets Juniper again. She's the girl next door, and as their relationship develops, she feels comfortable and new at the same time. When things get serious fast, and the girls look like they are becoming attached to Juniper, Alex gets scared, and breaks things off. Luckily, they get their HEA in the end, because there is nothing like the Spirit of Christmas for a romance novel. This is a wonderful story about the oldest of three brothers still grieving his recent losses, and leaving no time for himself outside of his responsibilities. Even his curmudgeon father eventually sees it, and the positive effect Juniper has on the whole family. The book manages to be happy without being sappy, and I'm giving it five stars. It is well worth the one click.

Another hit out the park by this author. The emotions these two have to go through will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Trying to make his daughters happy Alex takes them to an ornament decorating class run by Juniper.Alex had been shocked by what his middle daughter Thora had written in her letter to Santa. She said only wanted a big family Christmas like they had before his mother had died. He realized that the family had not gotten over the lose of his wife five years before and the death of his mother in a car accident three years ago but he knew he must do something to lift his three daughters spirits and bring back the happiness to Christmas. After having got both his brothers to agree to come home for Christmas he takes the girls to an ornament decorating class that his father's nurse had seen a poster about. After rushing the girls into the small craft shop he is surprised to recognize a familiar voice giving instruction and looks across the room to realize how beautiful his brother Will's old friend Jiniper had become.

Opening Their Hearts To Forever - Juniper had been crushing on her best friend’s brother for years, but she didn’t think she would get a chance to live out her dream, as he had never acknowledged her existence. Alex was a widower, whose life was his children, his father and the ranch, which meant he didn’t have time for a social life. However, everything changed between them, after they spent time together. Unfortunately, just as their relationship was getting settled, Alex’s insecurities created a stumbling block and nearly cost them their happiness.
This was an enjoyable read, with believable characters who you won’t be able to help but fall in love with. If you are looking for a book that you can just curl up with when you want to escape for an evening, then this is the one for you. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the books series and getting to experience the love stories of the other brothers.

Alex is feeling guilty after reading his daughter’s letter to Santa asking for a family Christmas. He has done his best for his three daughters after their mother died and then his father was injured in the same accident that took his mother so he had to take over working the ranch on his own. He decides to take his daughters to a Christmas tree decorating class and is surprised to see who is running it. Juniper’s parents died when she was young and she went to live with her aunt and uncle, but she always felt like an intruder. Her best friend Will, Alex’s brother, always invited her to his ranch evening knowing she was in love with Alex, even at such a young age. Juniper is determined to help Alex and his girls with the Christmas festivities and as she does the pull between them is unavoidable. But Alex starts to feel guilty about the amount of time he is away from the ranch and his girls so he pushes her away. This is a wonderful heart-warming Christmas romance that is all thanks to a child’s letter to Santa. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Santa does actually grant Christmas wishes. Instead of asking for toys, this little girl asks for what's more important in her life.
Alex is a widow, left to care for his three daughters after losing his wife. He is also responsible for the daily running of his ranch after his father's accident.
Juniper runs a craft shop. She lost her parents and has never felt that she belonged to her aunt's and uncle's household. The only family that she knows is Alex's.
After so many years, she reconnects with Alex, although they weren't the best of friends. The thing is that she has always carried a torch for him. When they meet again, Alex is drawn to her. She doesn't expect much, but life has a way making dreams come true. She helps Alex and her daughters and one thing leads to another and soon the whole family is what she always wanted. Is Alex prepared to put his heart on the line again?
This is an emotional story. The characters are great. It brings all the Christmas cheers and it shows that anything is possible.
Alex has had five hard years with first his wife passing and then his mother is taken and his father is confined to a wheelchair. His three daughters are very young and when the middle one asks for an old time family Christmas, his heart hurts for them. Seeking help, he asks his two brothers to come home for the holiday and then goes to see Juniper, who is a best friend of his brother and a neighbor who was around a lot while growing up. Her craft store and ideas may help bring it all together, but when these two are together the sparks do fly. The characters are heartwarming in how much they care for those around them. Juniper was closer emotionally to this family than to her aunt and uncle, who she lived with growing up after losing both her parents. The storyline has great backstories, surprises, banter, chemistry, bonding and much more. Loved the way Alex and Juniper moved closer while working on their Christmas plans and the fates win again.
