My favourite trope is second chance romance and When stars fall was the perfect story of heartbreak, redemption and romance story with a few twists.
Wyatt and Ellie are coming back together after so many trials in their shared past. I loved how the author included chapters from then (ten years ago) and now. They are both older, wiser and better persons and their story can’t be dismissed so easy especially since there’s something that will bond them together forever.
I loved it and would recommend to any romance lovers.
Wow what a fantastic and real story about second chances, love and addiction. I knew from the very first page that this one would be amazing!
I found the story very realistic and raw. The pace was great and it fit the story so well; Nothing was rushed or sugar coated. The reader gets to follow them through their ups and downs and Wyatt through his journey of recovering from a substance abuse.
The storyline alternate between the present and past tense, so while the reader hears about Wyatt’s attempt to get Ellie back after all these years, we also get to experience Wyatt and Ellie’s relationship with lots of love, partying and drugs almost 10 years back.
I loved the characters and side characters as well. There was so much depth to their personalities. Wyatt seemed like a such a loving, protective and caring person and Ellie was just as wonderful! At times I found myself being annoyed at some of the characters and even Ellie sometimes, but that was also what made the story so good and raw.
There was not one single thing I didn’t love about this book! Wendy Million is an amazing author and I’m over the moon every time she releases a new book. She’s one of those authors you just can’t miss out on!
TW: Mentions of substance abuse, suicide and sexual assault
Thank you to the author for sending me a copy in exchange of my honest opinion
When Stars Fall is told with alternating timelines, moving between flashbacks and present day action. It traces the paths of Wyatt and Ellie.
When they meet as young movie costars, Wyatt pulls Ellie into his hard partying lifestyle and recreational drug use. The overdose death of a close mutual friend affects each differently; Ellie is scared straight, while Wyatt's substance abuse escalates. When Ellie learns she is pregnant, she gives Wyatt an ultimatum - get sober or she will leave.
The story picks up 10 years later. Wyatt has become sober and returns to reconnect with Ellie. He doesn't know that he is a father. Ellie needs to decide whether she can trust Wyatt with her heart and with the safety of her daughter.
Million deals with the challenges of building a relationship with an addict. How can you know if he's telling the truth about using? What happens when he relapses? How can you rebuild trust? What happens when someone in recovery continues to associate with people who actively use drugs?
Both main characters are sympathetic and you will empathize with their struggles.
This book is absolutely fantastic! It’s a tale of addiction, heartbreak, redemption, and above all else love. I could not put this book down. At times I hated Wyatt and loved Ellie then the next minute Ellie made me cringe and Wyatt was so endearing. Wendy wrote this story so thoughtfully and it shows the true struggles through addiction and recovery. Wyatt’s journey through life and navigating love and overcoming his addiction and healing is so realistic and heartwarming. Have tissues nearby when you read this one, but you’ll feel so full when you’re finished.
No me gustó.
Fin.
Es triste leer que Ellie haya dicho que amaba tanto a Wyatt que, si no hubiera quedado embarazada, nunca lo habría dejado, y que probablemente habría seguido consumiendo solo por él.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I absolutely loved how real and relatable this book was. It was not a fall at his feet romance and throw your whole life away romance. It was real and it was relatable. The story really developed in a way that I felt like I got the whole story without missing out on the important details. This is an absolute must read!!!!
Wyatt and Ellie are young, and living in the Hollywood dream, until tragedy strikes, and she give him an ultimatum. Having moved on from Wyatt, 10-years later he is standing on her doorstep, determined to convince Ellie to give him a second chance. What will happen when he discovers a secret she has been keeping? This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, heartbreak, making choices, forced proximity, regrets, secrets, addiction, trauma, heartbreak, humor, second chances, redemption, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, heartfelt, tragic, and unpredictable page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This book is about atonement! About journey of two people toward each other. Wyatt goes to Bahamas trying to find his long lost love Ellie. But there he finds so much more! You expect the cliche story but here it is not! The author transfers us from the present to the past and back as she reveals the pieces of the puzzle called life. Love, drugs, death, birth, family . It got everything. At the end it got me bawling my eyes, literally! Great book Wendy! I remember reading it on Wattpad. It was my introduction to Wendy Million’s writing. And this woman can write! If you haven’t read it yet please check The Donaghey brothers series too.
This book pulls you in with its raw and emotional telling of Wyatt and Ellie’s journey. It deals with some heavy subjects, so check the TWs. This second chance romance will pull at your heartstrings.
I fell in love with these characters. Ellie was that wide-eyed girl who finally got the movie part that sent her career souring. And introduced her to Wyatt, a world famous actor, who already had a life of hard partying. She ends up getting tangled up into this world until a close friend of theirs passed away and she finds out she is pregnant. When Wyatt is given the choice of her or continue the life he has, he chooses to continue his way of life. Now three years later he is sober and wants to win Ellie back.
I loved the flashed of past and present. It helps give a clear picture of everything because Wyatt isn’t a villain, but a victim of addiction. And Ellie has to figure out if she can give him a second chance, if she can trust that he put that lifestyle behind him.
At times, difficult to read because drug addiction is a difficult life. Its not just bums hovering in doorways in bad parts of town but talented beautiful people like Wyatt. Wyatt is an actor who takes pills and parties heavily. Ellie loves Wyatt but came to point where she couldn't do that life anymore. Such a difficult story because it was so real. I had never heard of lean. I looked that up.....wow....anything to get high!!!
HEA. You get there but its a bit ugly. It took lots of support.
I have now read this book twice and I will probably read it again. It is a beautiful story of love and over coming demons. Loss and how choices carve your path for your future. Just simply a beautiful emotional story. Could be a Hollywood movie.
Ellie and Wyatt were a relationship formed in Hollywood and built on dysfunction. When the worst happens and a mutual friend tragically passes away, and Ellie and Wyatt are faced with choices. When Ellie gives Wyatt an ultimatum he chooses wrong and she leaves. Ten years later and Wyatt if finally ready to make the right choice but it may be too late.
Told in flashbacks to relevant points in their relationship, Ellie and Wyatt’s story is tragic and emotional. It’s a story of addiction, recovery, regrets, and second chances. Ellie made difficult choices and Wyatt followed his addiction further into darkness. What Wyatt doesn’t know is that Ellie made difficult decisions based on a secret she’s been keeping for 10 years. If you like second chance romances with emotion and heart this is a good one. I loved the way it realistically deals with how you move forward with a person who has an addiction and how to build a broken relationship while someone is in recovery. I loved that this story didn’t gloss over the hard stuff. Great story. Definitely worth 5 stars.
Ughh Where do I start on this one?! The absolute example of perfect second chance romance! (& what started my love for them.)
When Stars Fall, follows Wyatt and Ellie as they navigate life as superstars and their relationship. You get to see them in two totally different stages of their lives and how their circumstances and choices make them drift apart from one another.
What I love the most about this one and Wendy’s writing in general is that we get to see so much character growth without it being forced or rushed. You get to see both of our main characters struggle and doubt their choices in life. Never is one made to be the “villain” but rather they’re both “humans” who make mistakes and grow from them. It touches on some very heavy topics, (check TW) without it being overwhelmingly “dramatic” or just focused on these as the trauma. They add up to the main story but are NOT the main story.
Don’t even get me started on their love story! With Wyatt you’ll find a more than charming, protective alpha male who is also fighting his own battles; and with Ellie you find a family focused woman, who knows what she wants, knows her worth but is also the most caring and attentive lover/friend. You get to experience them falling in love, not once but TWICE! And believe me when I tell you, they’re going to get you feeling everything.
It’s a second chance/ superstar/ mutual POV / two timeline romance. What else could you possible need? Just read it, I’m sure you’ll find it in here too!
Bravo! Well done. I have read three previous books by Wendy Million, they were the Donaghey Brothers series and I loved them. When Stars Fall is her brand new release and she has knocked it out of the park with this book. I loved every minute I spent reading this new story.
The main characters were perfect and perfectly flawed. She did such a good job with them. This book deals with two stars referred to as WYLLIE. Wyatt and Ellie. The story is presented in a way that I found myself pulling for both characters. They were so well developed. I didn't ever think I was reading a made up story. This very well could have happened.
There is a tiny bit of sex but it is not over the top descriptive. There is a lot of drug abuse that plays into everything that happens. This book pulled at my heartstrings and kept me glued to my seat. I thought I was going to miss release day. Not a chance!
This book gave me all the feels. It is a beautiful love story. What they go through is not always beautiful. There is a lot of sorrow. That's all I can really tell you because, I'm not going to ruin the book for you. You have to read this for yourself!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I’m a newer reader to Wendy and I loved Rival Hearts so I jumped at this new release so fast! It’s a perfect second chance story! I was hooked right away when I started reading it!
Great plot and pacing for the story. I loved the emotional ups and downs. You see how much he changes throughout the book. Definitely check the TW for sure! It’s a great book with a past and present timeline. It was very well done! Ellie and Wyatt’s characters were so fully developed! I loved their chemistry and the dialogue was great.
The two MCs meet as young actors on the same film. They go down th party lifestyle and being to use recreational drugs. When tragedy hits a close friend of theirs the two have polar opposite reactions one goes clean (Ellie) and Wyatt falls deep into the darkness of drugs. Soon Ellie discovers she is pregnant and gives him the choice to clean up or she’s gone.
After ten years has passed and a now clean Wyatt comes to find her again. But all the past comes back and she has to figure out if she can trust him not only for her but the child he didn’t know about.
The progression of a relationship with an addict and all the trauma and doubt of if you can truly believe them. The gambit of questioning the person in the relationship with the addict goes through she did such a great job with.
Wyatt was so protective and so loving. Ellie was just the sweetest but I did hard to not get mad at them from time to time but that’s what made the story all that much better. It hooked you in and it was so open and raw with emotions. I felt like they were people I knew and so I cared so much for them.
Highly recommend this book it’s just splendid!
❤️ Second Chance ❤️ It’s always been you ❤️ Past/ Present Timeline ❤️ Secret Baby ❤️ Forced Proximity
Ten years ago, Wyatt let the love of his life walk away because she refused to continue putting up with his drug-filled life. They had been together over four years and she never cared, but now she gave him an ultimatum to choose her over drugs and when he told her no, she walked away...
He thought he had everything under control and could stop whenever he wanted, but then she left and took any reason for caring with her.
But now he plans to blow her life apart. She has been avoiding him for ten years, ensuring their acting careers never crossed paths and no one will tell him where she lives. The whole island of Bermuda is keeping her secret and he has had enough. He is a changed man and he wants her back in his life.
I loved this story! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Leaving Wyatt was the hardest thing that Ellie had ever done, but after losing their best friend to drugs and almost dying herself she walked away from the only man she would ever love. Now she watched his interview with TMZ in horror as he looked right into the camera and said that she is the only woman he has ever loved and he is coming for her.
This book is action-packed, full of sexual chemistry and secrets that could destroy any chance for Ellie and Wyatt to reunite and have their happily ever after. This second-chance romance will have you turning the pages as Ellie tries to avoid Wyatt and secret that will destroy any chance for forgiveness.
This book deals with drug addiction and how it can take control and mean more than anything. The fight to overcome the urges and how you are never free from the pull, but have to fight the urge every day. Relapse is one drink, one pill, away. Very emotional story. Highly recommend.
“When Stars Fall” is a raw and real story about second chances, love, and addiction. From page one, I was hooked, and Wendy Million completely delivered!
The book follows Ellie and Wyatt, whose Hollywood romance is full of highs and lows. Wyatt struggles with substance abuse, and after a mutual friend’s tragic death, Ellie gives him an ultimatum. He makes the wrong choice, and she walks away. Ten years later, Wyatt shows up on her doorstep, clean and ready to prove he’s a different man. But Ellie has been keeping a huge secret that could change everything.
Told through flashbacks and present-day scenes, this story dives deep into their complicated relationship. It’s about addiction, heartbreak, redemption, and trying to rebuild after everything falls apart. Million doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff, and I really appreciated how honestly she tackled addiction and recovery.
Ellie and Wyatt’s journey isn’t easy, but that’s what makes it so good. It feels raw and relatable, with characters that grow in realistic ways. By the end, they get their HEA, but it’s not handed to them—they earn it.
If you’re into second-chance romances with a lot of heart and emotion, this one is for you. It’s a story that doesn’t gloss over the hard parts but still leaves you hopeful. I couldn’t put it down and highly recommend it!
Thank you @million.wendy and @indie_pen_pr for the #gifted ebook arc. All opinions expressed are my own.
This book had me hooked from the start. Its written in a way that totally incases you in the story and what the characters are feeling and going through. It tackles drug abuse, suicide and sexual assault. These topics aren't sugar coated and come at you with full force.
Our characters, Wyatt and Elle meet on the set of a film and fall in love. Wyatt is an established movie star and brings Elle into his fold of getting high and partying. It isnt until their best friend overdoses that Elle realises things cant go on and asks Wyatt to choose, the drugs or her. Fast forward 10 years and Elle has made a name for herself and keeps out of the spot light. Wyatt has been clean for 3 years but hit rock bottom before he decided to change. It hasn't been easy considering his sister is an addict too. Wyatt has one goal .... to win Elle back.
The story goes back and forth but doesnt alter the flow. Its a well written and you can see yourself following the events and revalations then the HEA. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a redemption 2nd chance romance.
I received this as an ARC and am leaving my own review
This is a tough book to read. It's about a couple, madly in love, but they are drug users and addicts as well as alcohol abusers. Wyatt is a gorgeous movie star, Ellie is an upcoming actress, and Isaac, Wyatt's best friend is getting only small roles after success early in his life.
The book is told from two time frames, 10 years before and current times. Ellie, realizing her issues, decided to get clean and asked Wyatt to go to rehab. She gave him an ultimatum and he quite literally chose drugs. Now it's 10 years later and Ellie has gone back home to Bermuda where she has a wonderful support system. Wyatt has now been clean for 2 years but Ellie doesn't trust him.
This is the story of their road back to each other, and the struggles that previous and current relationships still present. They need to overcome lies and omissions that they've presented to each other.
Definitely adult content and death. It's an absorbingly written book, but it's not a light read.
Wyatt and Ellie are both actors who fell in love on the set of Love Letters from Spain. Their relationship is complicated by the drug addiction which Wyatt and his best friend Isaac are drowning in. An incident leads Ellie to breakup with Wyatt, giving him the ultimatum of choosing her or drugs.
Ten years after their breakup, Wyatt is desperate and acts upon his Operation Get Ellie To Talk to Him. All these years, she has avoided him successfully but this time Wyatt is adamant to win her back. But Ellie is hiding a secret. Does #Wyllie get a second chance?
This was an angsty read and each flashback was used effectively to push forward the narrative and to show us how their past led Wyatt and Isaac to their dysfunctional lives. When Wyatt realises his error, he finally realises that honesty is the best policy. I enjoyed the scenes between him and Ellie’s family and the scenes during filming were blazing hot.
Wyatt’s substance abuse has him losing the woman he loves and a lot more. Ellie gives the ultimatum drugs/alcohol or her, Wyatt’s initial reaction is bad and Ellie leaves. 10 years go by, Wyatt wants to win back the love of his life. Ellie distanced herself, rightfully for her, but fails to make a different choice that could have made a difference. She had information to clean up her life, she didn’t give the same to Wyatt. She deprived two relationships because she didn’t do what was the better thing to do, there were other options that could have been put in place. That was my biggest pet peeve with Ellie. While I did like insight into past events, I felt there were too many flashbacks, they’re whole chapters. It became disruptive to the story for me.
Romantic but has a dark edge covering various issues like drug use and overdose, quite harrowing reading when it's at it height of that. I actually wondered how any of them survived as long as they did. Ellie seemed reasonably senseable out of the group and saw how it was spiralling, stepping back probably saved her. It's well written and done with sensitivity to all angles, chapters flow from past to present then present for the last part. It has some angst, secrets and more. Very interesting as well with it being written in this perspective and the users idea that it's ok to live in the way they are. It does have a happy ending which is emotional. My first book by this author but I was quite intrigued reading the blurb and I'm totally happy I took a chance. Well worth it.
Oh my gosh there are no words just no perfect words to express how much I absolutely adored every single thing and moment of When Stars Fall !!!! Second chance romance , heartbreaking and heartwarming moments, love , passion, pain , redemption, obstacles, angst , humor , witty banter , family and friendships and so much more . Wyatt and Ellie overcome so many obstacles to find their second chance at love and a happy ending !!! Your going to go through it all with them - when they smile you’ll smile , when they laugh you’ll laugh, you’ll cry , you’ll even have moments you’ll find yourself rooting outta pure frustration but what never wavers is how utterly in love your going to fall and how hard you’ll be cheering from start to finish
10 years ago Ellie made the hardest decision she had ever made, and then spent that decade protecting her privacy while living in the spotlight and being an actress. Wyatt is a movie superstar living in the public eye and all of his mistakes, shameful and embarrassing moments have been broadcast to the world. He's finally gotten clean and sober, and is now determined to win Ellie back. But to do that, he needs to do some serious hunting to even find Ellie. When he finally finds Ellie, he also finds out exactly why she disappeared all those years ago. Then deals with one of the most terrifying experiences he's ever faced before. Can Wyatt forgive Ellie for what she did, and can Ellie learn to trust this Wyatt?
Wyatt and Ellie were superstars who ultimately could not stay together whilst spiraling further into addictions. The book starts with Wyatt professing his love to Ellie on national television ten years after they had broken up. The book goes back and forth both in time and in the perspective between Wyatt and Ellie. I loved the back and forth as well as the overall storyline. It wasn’t a typical second chance rom com. There are very serious matters of abuse/assault and drug use but they add to the depth of the story and make it feel more real. I could not put this down and cannot wait to read more.

Wyatt and Ellie's story is tragic. Superstar lifestyle. Drugs everywhere. Alcohol for every occasion. When the lifestyle gets to be too much, something more precious is to taken care of, Ellie decides she needs to move on. The sad thing is Wyatt cannot see his way of life might not be the best way to live however it costs him everything and everyone. This story was very emotional and I am so thankful Ellie stuck to her guns and made Wyatt work for acceptance back into her life. This was a first from this author and I am thankful for the opportunity to share this story.
A heavy hitter that aims straight for the heart. Million tackles life from every angle. When Stars Fall dares to be brutally honest about life, love and the humanity of it all. From the missed opportunities and the bad choices, Wyatt and Ellie journey of redemption puts the hard moments on full display. A beautiful mess that speaks it's truth with a rawness of spirit and exposes it's soul with breathtaking accuracy.
Second chances against all odds. I’m not even sure where to start talking about this book because honestly I couldn’t stop reading it. It grabs you right from the start. Wyatt and Ellie’s story gripped me for more reasons than one. Their addiction not only to drugs and alcohol but to each other. How the story jumped back and forth enlightening us on what happened in their past ten years ago or so, and today was done so well. Honestly I could go on and on about this book but I’d rather you read it yourself. I would give it 10* if possible. Warning there is a lot about drug and alcohol, use and abuse if that is a trigger for you. But it is necessary for the story
