Seeing as this is more of a reference book, I'm going to go ahead and post my first impressions of it. I bought this book at Target, because it was cheap and they didn't have what I was actually looking for. (My local Target also keeps moving their magical book section, which is getting really annoying, but that's another, much different rant.)

First things to note: This seems primarily directed towards Wiccan and ritual practitioners, but it doesn't expressly say that. That's fine, but I wish books like this would be more clear on things like that. (I'm more solitary and eclectic, and don't claim Wicca.)

Second, this book seems directed towards folks who have been practicing for a while and new practitioners at the same time, but not in a good way...? There's too little info for new practitioners and too much requirement for expensive items they may not have access to (recipe ingredients, crystals, blue candles, etc.), and I feel like experienced practitioners will find it entirely too simplistic for their use.

Third, I feel like it's missing a lot of important detail in a lot of the recipes. Whether it's a tincture for a headache or a recipe for blueberry muffins, I feel there should be more info on how to use some of the more unusual ingredients (nettle, etc.), and perhaps more on what effects each ingredient is expected to have.

Fourth, tonight I am up with a slightly upset stomach. Out of curiosity, I decided to see what it suggested. There is only ONE THING suggested for ANYTHING related to the stomach, and it's as simple as going to the tea section at the grocery store: Lemon Peppermint tea. Which, I feel, is something most people in general know about already; this isn't particularly magickal knowledge. This is very common knowledge.

Fifth, I feel like most of the book is more vegan New Age than really 'witchcraft'. Very, very vegan. While that's all well and good, again, it's not stated at the front of the book, which I would have appreciated. (Hrm. Considering returning this, actually.) The vegan aspect bleeds into my sixth complaint..

Six: Requirements for weird, expensive, hard-to-find ingredients and/or props. I read the recipe for blueberry muffins (which were suggested for GROUNDING?! Why?! That doesn't even make sense, from everything I understand about grounding..) It mentions "flax egg". I've never even heard of flax egg. I've heard of egg substitutes. But flax egg? Never. And this isn't my first time around the block. What's more, a lot of the rituals require having two pricey-sounding crystals, all of them different for each ritual. If you don't have these particular ones, there's ALWAYS work-arounds, but this book seems to assume these are easy and cheap things to find and acquire, even though I've never heard of some of these. That really bothers me, because folks new to the practice are more likely to pick this up, and may feel like they are 'getting it wrong' if they don't spend hundreds of dollars on every color of quartz plus others!

I don't know. I may return this. I've found far better info on 'wellness' in other, non-witchy books and online without spending a great deal of money on weird things.

In the end, this feels a great deal like an advertisement for buying 'magickal' things while also pushing a vegan lifestyle in a passive-aggressive way. There's a great deal of talking in it about how important paying attention to our health is...but then gives very vegan recipes, as if being a vegan 'witch' is the only way to be healthy. -_-;;;;;

One positive: It is a beautifully designed book, and I like the texture of the cover and pages. I dig the lavendar and dark green print. I just wish it hadn't been wasted on the text that it was.

Krystle L. Jordan’s book: The Witch’s Guide to Wellness is an excellent book which gives the reader unique practices and wellness inspired spells. This book describes a plethora of wellbeing techniques, which encourage better physical, mental and spiritual health. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and found myself interested in the multiple witchy practices, such as journaling, tea blends and jar spells. I think that the author did a great job as structuring this book and they provided accessible alternatives to each technique and exercise. For example: I felt that if I did not have any of the required materials that I could swap them for another similar resource.
My only downfall is that the book would have be better if it delved into more practical guidance on wellbeing, perhaps the author could have shared some of their own experiences with the spells and practices included. The entirety of this book created a tone of compassion for ourselves and for the earth. Pages such as information on sustainability were included etc. This book is filled with informative but kind language which educates the reader on taking better care of themselves through the use of witchcraft. My favourite part of this book was specifically the tea blend section.
Personally, I believe that this book is an important inclusion to the witchcraft community. Because of it’s up to date instruction. Overall, I found this book to be everything and more that I was expecting it to be. Both whimsical and informative at the same time. I would recommend this book for anyone who wishes to learn more about wellness spells, and techniques within the witchcraft community. Thankyou to Netgalley, Krystle L. Jordan and Adams Media for the DRC!

I really wanted to like this book. In theory, it's a great idea — witchcraft and holistic living should be completely compatible. The author even has some life experience and training to back up skills she outlines. I just personally didn't find this book to quite live up to its intention. The spells were a bit cookie-cutter and one-note, and definitely written more for a Wiccan practice (The "so mote it be's" that ended every spell was the first clue). There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but non-Wiccan witches may find the conflation to be agitating — as we know, all Wiccans are witches, but not all Witches are Wiccan. I think the thing that really put the nail in the coffin for me was the repeated comments on Divine Feminine: If your witchcraft book talks about rituals for the Divine Feminine and there's an absence of rituals for Divine Masculine but you're making a point to say "despite your gender expression/identity" then that means you're assuming that the audience of your work is only femme. That to me seems a lot like virtue signaling. I'm also not a huge fan of the "love yourself before you can do good magic/love others/etc" message, either — I've felt my spells work just fine in spite of my diagnosed mental illnesses, thank you.

It's an okay book, but don't let it become gospel to your life or your craft.

The Witch’s Guide to Wellness is a guidebook to become a healthier version of yourself by using the craft. This covers spells, rituals, potions, and food that target wellness in your home, your mind and your body.

By providing a well rounded mixture of rituals and spells, Jordan targets any aspect of your life that you may need help with, whether physically or mentally. Included in this book are pouches, mists, sachets, oils, and jar spells that allow for a variety of options for tackling your health. This is very helpful because it makes it easier to choose what works best for you and ones that you have the ingredients for.

This book also provides daily journal and affirmations prompts at the end of each chapter to target physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. This is a wonderful addition because a lot of people struggle with journaling because they don’t know where to start, myself included.

Overall, this was a very helpful book. If you are looking to improve your mental and physical health with your practice then I suggest picking up this book. Remember though, this isn’t a magical fix for mental and physical health issues so please also seek professional help if needed.

This book provides a different, refreshing perspective of self-care that is perfect for beginners. Jordan provides a mix of fun self-care recipes, grounding techniques, and thorough explanations of each activity without overwhelming her readers. It is important to note that while I appreciate when the author delves into the history or significance of each ingredient, this book is not primarily a history book on Witchcraft. Readers who are looking for non-fiction novels about witchcraft may not find this book super helpful, but if you are interested in holistic wellness, natural wellness recipes, witchcraft that promotes wellness, or want to level up your self-care game, this book is for you.

A great book combining wellness and witchcraft. I was surprised by how packed with information, tips and insights it is. Also beautiful pages, so you feel even more inspired to dig in. I particularly liked the recipes and rituals.
In a world where the magic of the natural world has been calling and where the importance of wellness has come to the forefront more than ever before, this book is a must, it is a breath of fresh air combining timeless witchy wisdom with holistic wellness in practical application to everyday living.

This book is incredibly useful and I love the way Jordan writes. Of all the witchy-wellness books I've encountered, this book has more solid plans and less fluff than any other. Packed with spells and recipes, the book gives you a start on a wide variety of topics. The directions are clear and easy to follow, and easy to improvise on if you know a bit about what you are doing. A solid addition to your bookshelf of reference books.

A beautifully written practical resource for the modern day witch. You will want to keep this book handy to reference for more than just spells and rituals, but healthy recipes to nourish your body and remedies to cure what is ailing you as body as well. I like that mind, body, and spirit are all incorporated for balance.

The idea of this book is great cos after all we can all do with a little wellness. However I just found this book to have too little info and too much need for expensive items.
It also leans very heavily towards veganism which is great if you're vegan but some of the ingredients I've never heard of and have no way of obtaining easily.
All in all I'm disappointed with this book.

I liked the straight to the point rituals and recipes for wellness. I wish it had a little more in depth discussion on the why and how of using certain materials.
