For a Little Mermaid fan like me, this beautiful hardcover book is a must have. Parts of the script, beautiful drawings, it gives you a little inside in how the movie was made ❤
The Little Mermaid is a special interest of mine so any book or media to do with it I will dive into immediately. I really enjoyed learning more about the behind the scenes of the production but I feel that there could’ve been so much more because there is. It was more heavy on the script as it is a script book with some really cool facts intertwined, so I won’t gripe about the lack of behind the scenes info. The concept arts for this film relate to so many different things and I noticed they reverted back to them in the making of the 2nd and 3rd films for inspiration. Definitely worth the read if you’re a fan of The Little Mermaid as much as I am, you might learn something new.
Except for one gross comment from an animator, this book was fairly interesting. The artwork alone is worth looking at. Some of the original ideas for Ursula’s designs genuinely scared me. I can’t imagine seeing those as a kid. The designs for Atlantica are so, so pretty. Of course the final design is beautiful as well, but I loved seeing the other ideas! I especially loved seeing Sebastian’s redesigns. It’s nice to have a copy of the movie script as well!
An absolutely wonderful piece of Disney memorabilia. This is the screenplay of the movie, which has every line and song. It also includes concept art, behind-the-scenes stories, fun facts, and insights from many of the people who worked on all aspects of the movie. There are even handwritten notes. I loved learning even more about my favorite Disney movie and had a great time reading through this book.
Literally everything I could’ve ever wanted in a behind the scenes book. Script, lyrics, concept art, notes, frames, actor interviews, and random little tidbits about the production. Would legitimately love if every movie had a book like this.
I wish they made a book like this for every Disney movie. I absolutely loved seeing the artwork and concept sketches. I wish there were more director/writer comments so I could learn even more.
