Tim Rayborn is a historian, medievalist, and musician, with an MA and PhD from the University of Leeds in England. He is a writer on a variety of topics in history and the arts, from the academic to the amusing to the appalling. He has written nearly 50 books to date.

A professional musician with a specialty in medieval repertoire, he plays dozens of musical instruments, has appeared on more than 40 recordings, and has performed in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

Every year I read a book on hygge (hoo-ga) to remind me to slow down, enjoy the winter outdoors, and relish in simple comforts. If you’ve never read a book on hygge this is a very simplified and quick read. Perfect for an introduction to hygge life.

a lovely little book full of wonderful ideas. you start to get the point after a couple of chapters, so it’s repetitive in that sense, but it’s got a beautiful cover and it’s full of things to think about.

Cute little book, beautifully designed, a good introduction to the concept of hygge. Reads a bit like it was written by AI . . . not a lot of substance here and strangely, no author listed on the title page. Would make a nice present for someone who is into self-help, or moving into a new home. For a really substantive and meaningful book about hygge, I recommend The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well by Meik Wiking.

Very repetitive and surface level. It is about 110 pages but could have been slimmed down to 40 pages roughly. I picked up this book because I have heard of hygge but didn't know much about it and I put down this book feeling about the same. It says that this book is just an introduction, so I can't really blame the author for the surface level writing, but there's not much to it. This book is a very very quick read and a good reminder to enjoy the little things in life, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. If you are interested in hygge, I would look elsewhere.

Cute intro! Not too informative - I honestly learned more about hygge from quotes? If that makes sense?

Learned ab the law of diminishing marginal utility, an economic principal where when want thing, thing v v good but when get thing, thing is fine and helpful for a little while, then more thing is nothing.

Mindfulness >>> hygge (and not mutually exclusive either) but it is still a v interesting concept to learn and practice

The choice of words are simple & easy to understand. The book is a full color one so it's really interesting to be read. If you want to get to know Hygge for the first time, maybe this one is for you. The thing is, now I'm wondering whether I want to deepen my knowledge about this Hygge because somehow this book has summarized everything, Idk? Please help me to decide whether I should read the other book about Hygge or not.

Anyway, my favorite part of this book is the coffee & tea recipes 😂

Well I can't say much for this book but when I read this book I was not in a very good place but then after reading this book I felt very calm and hmm comfortable..? So I feel like this book is going to have a very special place in my heart and I really liked it! Sooo therefore I'll say it's a very therapeutic book. I'll recommend everyone to read it cuz it's also a very very quick read.

Re-ignighted my love for this lifestyle, keeping my desire to practice it further. A great (short) comfort read to practice hygge with during. Approachable and sectioned out well. I learned the new term Lykke and even reading the recipe idea's was decriptive instead of just a recipe. Beautiful book physically and mentally with good quotes to resonate with.

I like how hygge the aesthetic of this tiny cute book is. It is straightforward and easy to consume. I look forward to continuing to work on my hygge Journey. I think it is wonderful and worth the money! I would recommend and will probably reread!

It is simple, probably good for a child. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up a book that was made to define a foreign word. I like the format and concept of teaching other languages unique cultural ideas. This was over simplistic and repetitive.

The first half was much better than the last, which fell into general (and in my opinion, obvious) self-help rather than hygge. Pick up Miek Wiking's book if your interest is actually hygge.
