I got his multi-million $$ ring stuck on my finger.
As an undercover report, that's probably the most stupid thing I ever did.
Especially when this is my last shot to drag that A-hole down.

That stupid ring!
An heirloom my grandmother gave to me...
And it's cursed.
Cursed to bring love to its owner, apparently.
Too bad its owner is me and I don't believe in this love BS.
Hah!

Except, that new maid who just came in...
She went and got my damn ring stuck on her finger!
And for some reason, she just seems to hate me.
People rarely hate me... least of all women.
Not that it matters.
Because I'm getting my ring off her finger.
And then I'm going to fire her.
And no, I'm not going to bang her first,
However tempting she damn well is.
Curse or no curse, she's definitely not it!

They say opposite attract.
They say there is a thin line between love and hate.
Well, follow Ash and Ellis, our first couple in the new series Fated To Love You in their fight—I mean search—for their happily ever after.

No rating since I only made it 25%. When the MMC called himself a “prude” because the FMC put her feet on his antique coffee table, I decided this isn’t my brand of book.

Here is what you should know.

Yes, the blurb is cute - who doesn’t like a cursed ring and fate romance from enemies to lovers… but the characters here are annoyingly weak and Pollyanna in voice.

MMC is in his 30s, but he sounds like a nerdy teenage girl…

“They’re my best friends, and when we’re together, things can get just a little bit crass. And by little, I mean a lot. As in, a butt-ton.”

” I take another long pull of coffee, sucking it back and swallowing before the butt load of bitter can hit me.”

“Holy Hannah, what did you do to make this so strong?”

Butt-ton? Butt load? Holly Hannah? I’ve never heard a guy say SAF shit like that, much less a supposed alpha male lol.

Dude sounds like a girl…

chest get a little hairy. And no, it’s not chest hair. I take care of that with my razor, thank you very much.

She’s just as childish sounding with all the wa-zing, boo-yeah, lady bits.

The plot is so watered down with long descriptions about surroundings and the same inner thoughts on repeat.

Funny? Not hardly. Haven’t even smiled, much less laughed by 25%.

Swoons? Uhm, no.

Sparks? No.

Bedroom heat? Didn’t make it that far, but I skimmed to see… at 46%, he calls his penis a “happy stick.” At 67% … he thinks this shit: ”Maybe my nipples, boy berries, and boy-stick joystick, or perhaps all three.” Boy berries? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.

Did not enjoy this author's style of writing

Where do I begin? First I didn't like this author's style of writing. Not sure if she was just trying too hard to be unique or cutesy, but it just didn't work for me. She uses analogies like "revenge is juicy and piping hot", then waxes on a full paragraph comparing it to hot peach pie. It was just odd...and anyway, everyone knows revenge is a dish best served cold! Then there's stuff like "who knew the smell of old spaghetti was a turn on". Who gets turned on by the smell of old spaghetti? How about this gem "silent as a deadly fart". And these words are supposed to be coming out of the mouth of a woman, the h, who majored in journalism. You'd think such a character would have a better command of the English language and not sound so juvenile and idiotic. You have to wonder... is the author trying to make the character funny, quirky? (This story is billed as a rom-com.) Or is the author's writing just that juvenile?

There's also a lot of redundency. For example, after the h ruminates in a paragraph about warm feelings filling all the cracks, holes and crevices she's had, she goes on to repeat.. "All the crackly cracks, holey holes and creaky crevices." (More examples of witless writing.) And this idiotic penchant for using a variation of a word to describe the same word continues with gems like "sparkly sparkles". If the h was portrayed as a ditzy or offbeat character, it might have worked. But, in fact, she is portrayed as intelligent and a journalism major. I don't know of any journalist who would talk like that. (Can you imagine what her news stories would read like? Lol!)

In another attempt to be cutesy, the author has the H referring to his male appendage mostly as "Mr. Happy", "happy stick", "meat stick", "joy stick"! Seriously, do you know of any man that would refer to his d*ck as any kind of "stick"? I think most men would be insulted lol! Again, seems childish. The H is supposed to be around 35, give or take, but the way he is often portrayed, he comes across as a high schooler. Makes me wonder... How old is this author?

Another problem I had ... As I said previously, this was billed as a rom-com. Truthfully, it might have been a cute one based on the story premise...a cursed ring that's supposed to help find your soul mate, owned by a man who doesn't believe in love (and whose family happened to be responsible for the h's Dad losing his business); ring accidentally falling at the h's feet; drums and voices in her head telling her to put it on, then it gets stuck and won't come off; the H, not letting her out of his sight while the ring is on her finger (expensive); add in an outrageous granny who's trying to play matchmaker...and you have the makings for some funny stuff. Right? But no, the author has to give the h a seriously troubled existence; e.g., she suffered loss as a teen (mother and grandparents); her only living relative is a father who lost his business, (the only thing that kept him going after the loss of his wife) and has been suffering severe depression to the point of being non-functioning. Add in financial debt, low income, no health insurance or means to get her father help and an H who has reason to distrust love and you have the makings for an emotional drama ... Not a rom-com. So, what was this story actually? A rom-com or an emotional drama?

Unfortunately, it tried to be both and succeeded in neither. How can you make a story comedic when dealing with such overwhelming issues? As a result, the silly attempts to be funny and cute just seem pathetic, overdone and out of place.

There are more stories in this series dealing with the H's younger brother and 3 cousins who all have their own piece of cursed jewelry (courtesy of Granny). She is the only character I really liked in this story. There may be some who find this story entertaining; however, for me, the incongruity of the serious and comedic aspect, as well as the style of writing, just didn't work. From the preview at the end of this book , the next in the series appears to be in the same style of writing. So I will not be reading any future stories in this series or by this author.

This is the first book in Lindsey Hart's new series Fated To Love You and what a great start to the series. Even though it's part of a series this book is read as a standalone. No cliffhanger, no cheating and a great happy ending. It won't take you long to fall in love with Ellis and Ash. There's a thin line between love and hate and they definitely started out on the hate side. The book has good flow and the back and forth banter between the two is hilarious at times. The characters are well developed and their chemistry is explosive. Ellis is an investigative reporter and she's working undercover as a maid to find dirt on Ash's family. Things get real interesting when Ash's grandmother's ring gets stuck on Ellis. The ring is one of several family heirlooms that are either cursed or blessed depending how you look at it. They are supposed to bring love and romance. From the moment Ellis picked up the dropped ring and put it on her finger it stuck and she wasn't able to remove it. This is a funny story that's well written. The characters are likable and well developed. I read a free advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Good romantic comedy
4.5
I thought it was a good romantic comedy, with a hint of the paranormal, but not too much either.
The story is not a hilarious comedy, but the touches oh humor made by the characters have regularly made me smile as they are so disheartened by their mishap. The story is well written, tender but also hot.
Ash made a pact with his cousins so that the "curse" cast by his grandmother (we are in New Orleans, and voodoo is latent), does not come true: he must not pass, on his fiancée's finger, a family ring that would only go to his soul mate. He accepts a fake marriage, but the ring falls into the hands of Elis, a reporter thirsting for revenge on Ash's family and who was undercover there as a maid. She is sucked into the spell and the two of them do everything they can to break it.

Funny and of course lots of sex. Ellis wants revenge on Ash for what his family did to hers. Ash’s granny got cursed items for all of her grandkids so they will have a soulmate. Ellis is undercover as a maid to get dirt on Ash, but what will happen when his cursed ring falls in front of her? Will it come true or will Ellis ruin his life?

Overall I liked this book. Ash's family has a curse or so they say. Ellis ends up putting on one of the cursed rings and now she can't get it off. As they spend time together they fall for each other. However, the problem is that Ellis has other plans. Luckily everything works out in the end and they get their happy ending.

The Curses and Blessing of True Love

New Orleans, the home of the Mardi Gras and voodoo, is also the home of the Cromwell family, lucky in wealth, but most unlucky in love. To countermand the bad juju that seemed to curse her family’s love life, Granny Cromwell has gifted each of her five grandchildren with a piece of jewelry that each is to “gift” to their intended “soulmate” which is to act as a love barometer, revealing whether the relationship is “cursed” or “blessed” in love. While the grandchildren—Ash, Kirian, Leeandra (Lee), Toren, and Taylen all love their strong-willed, controlling, but definitely well-intentioned grandmother, none are eager to wed, and certainly not with their love-life controlled by an inanimate object possessed by powers that seem bent on pushing the grandchildren towards their “fated mate.” And, unfortunately, beautiful, young journalist Ellis, with amber eyes flecked with brown and a lush head of thick mahogany and copper curls surrounding her heart-shaped face, has gone undercover to find dirt on the Cromwell family and stumbles into the middle of the juju at work.

Ellis’ family has been unintentionally ruined by the wealth and power of the family Cromwell when her father’s small independent publishing company was acquired by Granny Cromwell in one of her deals, and while she promised to not close the company, it was shuttered, sending Ellis’ dad, already grieving the death of his beloved wife, into a spiral of depression.

Ellis goes undercover as a maid at the home of the Asherly Cromwell, the eldest of the Cromwell grandchildren. Her plan is to uncover the sins and secrets of the family and to reveal all in an article to be published in a news rag specializing in exposing and humiliating the rich, famous and powerful. And while a career in journalism is Ellis’ dream, just like the crushed dream of her dad, she has decided that revenge is her first goal as she secretly embeds herself in the household of Ash Cromwell—only to be sucked into the world of curses and unnatural powers.

Lindsay Hart once more examines and crushes some of society’s misconceptions of how a women and men should act, look, love and respond to each other. The author lets the readers fully appreciate the challenges faced by both men women seeking honesty and truthfulness in relationships, and desiring to be true to themselves. She offers the perfect comeback to the false patterns which society, and one’s on expectations, impose on the individual. And in this romance, the writer weaves in the mystical powers of forces acting as matchmaking agents on behalf of a loving, but manipulative grandmother.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.

I really liked the idea of this book, however I really struggled with the premise. *Spoilers...I understood the idea behind Ellis' need for vengeance, however, I struggle with it's justification. You find out right away that she wants to make the family pay and that even though he's not specifically guilty, Ash is her target. Her reasoning is far fetched and adolescent. Ellis believes they should pay for BUYING her father's publishing company just because they then closed it when they promised they wouldn't. I understand her father is depressed, but that has more to do with lifes circumstances than the fact that he SOLD, yes that's right, SOLD it. Ash's family paid for the publishing company. It's unrealistic for her to believe that a purchaser would keep something open just for her. Like I said childish. I could buy into this plot more if perhaps she was one of the laid off employees family members, but as it stands her family SOLD the business, it wasn't stolen from them. Also, I'd have thought with 1oz of research she'd have know those laid off were offered other positions, so NO ones life was actually ruined by the sale, unless like her father they refused other employment and had other life circumstances occur. I enjoyed the rest of the book, however, I found the language unbelievable and nonsensical at times. I mean, seriously, what 35+ year old MAN says "Holy baked potatoes" after climax or during sex in general? Nevermind, "loads of grated cheese, topped with chili". No 20 something woman is going to reply with "loaded with sour cream and bacon bits".This whole conversation is just ridiculous and adds nothing to the story. The story would be better if it was just removed entirely or written from an adult perspective. I like the rest of the book. The supernatural twist and the family members were all wonderful additions to the story. It's just a shame that the whole vengeance angle makes no realistic sense.

A meddling grandmother, a cursed ring, an undercover reporter & a billionaire... what could possibly go wrong?
--------------------
Main Characters: Asherly "Ash" Cromwell, grandson, billionaire, painter & Ellis

Story Overview: Told from dual perspectives this is the story of Ash & Ellis.

Ellis is a reporter, all her life she's wanted to be a journalist, working for her Dad's paper but during tough times the paper was bought out by the Cromwell family and sold off, all the workers lost their jobs and Ellis no longer had anywhere to go with her journalism. Her father went into depression and now she wants revenge... Revenge on the Cromwell family.

She takes a job as a maid undercover trying desperately to get some dirt on Ash Cromwell... and that's where we meet Ellis and Ash. She's in his house to clean but also to get juicy information she can use on Ash when she over hears him talking to a woman about a fake engagement and a cursed ring... Cursed ring? What curse? Suddenly the ring is right there and screaming at her and she puts it on...

Ash can't believe his maid has the ring on her finger. He needs to get it off her but he can't let her out of his sight with the ring on. So he keeps her at his place...

The more time they spend together the more they are drawn together as if the ring is drawing them together. And when Ash's grandmother gets wind of what's happened she's not going to help them out, after all they are soulmates in her eyes the ring chose Ellis for her grandson and she's going to make sure it happens.

But Ellis can't lose track of the reason she was in Ash Cromwell's house... to get revenge, and it brings everything full circle... Can they break the curse of the ring, or are they destined to be together?

--------------------
Concluding Thoughts: An ok read. No major dramas. I enjoyed Granny the most. She was a fun, adorable character.

Lindsey Hart cracks me up! I think that is what I love most about her books. No matter what kind of a day I have had, I know that if I read something written by Hart, I will feel good and go to bed with a smile on my face. (And in today's world, that is very welcomed!)
"Stuck On You" certainly takes a different approach to romance - coming together BECAUSE of a curse. I have read stories with "curses" keeping couples apart, but never one that forces people to be together. I thought it was very clever of Hart to set the story in New Orleans. What better city to be the backdrop of a curse - home to voodoo, tartot cards, and burning incense.
One aspect that I have come to love about Hart's stories is the inner-dialogue that her characters have. The tangents that these self-directed speeches take are a riot! We all have those inner-discussions that can creep up at any time and are oaky because no one else can hear them - but when Hart gives them voice, it's like we are eavesdropping on a private conversation - and they are funny!
"Stuck on You" is light, fun, and a fairly quick read. While Hart does touch on a serious subject, she keeps that as a secondary topic. The focus of the story is to entertain with a fun subject - namely, a cursed ring that binds two people together. I love the way she has set the stage for future stories with cursed jewelry. How fun and different!
If you are looking for something on the lighter side, humorous moments, and inner conversations that take on a life of their own, then this is a great book for you and Lindsey Hart is a great author for you!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Ellis is turning on her recorder in preparation for some juicy gossip. She is undercover as a maid to get information on the billionaire and his family who destroyed her father's life. This fight getting ready to break out looks to be just what she needs.

The Cromwells had bought out her dad's publishing company and promptly closed the doors. Doors that they promised would stay open, putting people out of jobs. Hers included, so she got this job as a maid to get whatever dirt she can find on the Cromwell family.

Turns out that his grandmother was devastated when both her sons' marriages ended in divorce so she had five family heirlooms blessed (or as Ash is relaying to his friend, Meryl, cursed) so that her grandchildren will meet their soulmates. So he and Meryl are planning a fake marriage to get his grandmother and her parents off their backs. Now that's a story!

Ash trips as he's bringing the cursed ring to show Meryl and it goes tumbling down the staircase to land at the feet of the new maid. She seems to be in a trance as she puts on the ring and stares at nothing. He and Meryl run down the steps to get the cursed ring off her finger before something bad happens.

This book is hilarious! The book is well written and the characters are relatable. The storyline kept me laughing, but I did feel that the characters conversations in their heads drug on at times and at one point Ash turned into a bumbling teenager instead of a confident man. Granny is a hoot! She's the granny everyone wishes to grow up to be - with absolutely no filter.

Great read! Can't wait to see what curses will manifest for the remaining grandchildren.

Ellis is working undercover as a maid at Ash’s mansion to get information on him to publish a revenge story to harm his family. Ash’s family’s publishing company bought her father’s company and then shut it down after promising that they wouldn’t, and her dad has not been the same since then. Ellis is cleaning and recording a conversation of Ash and his fake fiancé arguing about a cursed ring. The ring falls down the steps, Ellis hears voices telling her to put it on, so she does in a trance but when she returns to normal, the ring will not come off. They try everything but the ring won’t budge and the fake fiancé leaves and Ellis stays to try to remove the cursed ring. Ash’s granny had given her 5 grandchildren jewelry that she had “cursed” in NOLA and Ash had a ring for his soulmate, or true love. There is a lot of humor and sassy conversations as they get to know one another and try to remove the ring. As they search for a way to remove the cursed ring will they become actual soulmates or remain enemies?

This was a fun story about enemies who become much more. Ellis blames Ash’s family for her father’s problems and planned on getting revenge by publishing an article revealing some dirt about his family. The ring kept them together for days as they tried to figure out how to get it off her finger. They got to know each other and were attracted. The epilogue was a cute and fun ending for their story.

This book brings us Ash (Asherly) Cromwell and Ellis. Ash is from a very wealthy family, and he is a artist. He has a pact with the rest of his brothers and cousins to never fall in love. Their grandmother has given them each some jewelry who is supposedly cursed. Ellis is working for the family, posing as a maid but in reality she is trying to get revenge on the family as she feels they ruined her family. Ellis' father worked for a newspaper that Ash's grandmother bought and broke her promise to keep the employees, but the paper wasn't profitable, so she let them go, which through her father into a deep depression. While Ellis is working as the maid, she finds out the Ash is going to marry Meryl Burbank, pretend to further their family wealth. When Meryl asks to see the engagement ring that Ash is supposed to give her, it falls out of the box, and Ellis picks it up, puts in on, and it won't come off! This sets off hysterical events on trying to get the ring off. According to the curse, whoever wears the ring is that person's soulmate, which neither wants. However, there is an attraction that both of them try to deny, but eventually they give in to each other. Ellis realizes that Ask isn't a bad person and she has a hard time with the conflicted feelings, and she feels the only way to break the curse is to write the article that she intended. This was such a great read and I HIGHLY recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Magically wonderful!

Such a fun and funny story! This book perfectly balanced humor and anger. It’s a must read for those who enjoy a little bit of magic and a lot of humor. Here’s a quick re-cap and my full two cents.

Quick re-cap:

Ellis’ family suffered several major losses due to Ash’s family. So, Ellis becomes Ash’s maid in hopes that she will learn some dark secrets she can expose to the world and avenge her family.

While trying to snoop on Ash, Ellis learns that Ash’s Granny has provided each grandchild with a cursed object that is suppose to bring their soulmate into their lives. Ash’s cursed object, an engagement ring, somehow winds up stuck on Ellis’ finger. Does that mean they’re soulmates?!

My two cents:

I really really enjoyed this book!! I loved the cursed ring and the NOLA setting. It all felt very Princess and the Frog.

Plus! Ash, his Granny, and Ellis were all extraordinary characters! I loved Ellis calling Ash Cromwell - Ass Asswell. And Granny was literally LOL funny.

There were some nice sex and foreplay scenes. Not necessarily relief worthy, but possibly 😉

I’m going to go find the next book in this series and hope it’s as funny as this one. I highly suggest this book if you enjoy RomComs with a little supernatural fun. Happy reading y’all!!

This was a very funny enemies to lovers romantic comedy.

Ellis is a journalist working undercover as a maid for Asherly Cromwell. She wants to get revenge on the Cromwell family for buying her father's publishing house and closing it after promising to keep it running. Her father has gone into a serious depression because of it.

Ash is a professional painter and has a large inheritance. He has a pact with his brother and cousins to never fall in love. Their grandmother gave each of them a piece of jewelry that is supposed to help them find their soulmate. Ash and Meryl Burbank agree to a marriage of convenience to get both their families off their backs. Ash and Meryl are fighting about the ring he received from his grandmother when it falls down the stairs and Ellis puts it on. She goes into a trance and after she snaps out of it they cannot remove the ring from her finger. He refuses to let her leave his home until he gets the ring back. They start having feelings for each other and later hook up. She figures out how to get the ring off but betrays him in the process. His grandmother helps him win her back for their HEA.

Ellis is a currently working undercover as a maid for a rich ass. The rich ass is called Asherly Cromwell. His family wrecked hers by buying out her fathers publishing company and closing it down. So she is doing a bit of snooping under the guise of a maid to try and get some dirt on Asherly and his girlfriend Meryl Burbank so she can sell the story and wreck his life like the Cromwells wrecked her fathers life.
While she is snooping she overhears Ash talking about a cursed ring that Meryl wants to see. The curse claims to find the true soulmate for Ash. But as he doesn't believe in love and has no plans to get married except maybe a marriage of convenience with Meryl he has decided he will not give the ring to anyone. Love is too complicated and he doesn't need that in his life.
Except life doesn't always go to plan and when the ring ends up on Ellis's finger it causes him more problems than he can cope with. Especially when said ring seems to be stuck.
A great love story that proves love isn't always straight forward and never trust a ring with a curse on it!

I received a copy from Booksprout; this is my honest review.
-When I read the blurb, I thought the undercover reporter was just plain unprofessional for trying out a ring that doesn't belong to her. But it's not like that at all. Magic is working against her and she has no choice but to do it.
-The granny is a hoot and I hope to be like that (or worse) when I grow up.
-I really liked how the cousins came together with a pact but no matter how much you try, you cannot go against a curse.
-I wish there had been a better way to get the ring off Ellis' finger. I'm surprised everyone took it so well. Even Ash, Meryl and her father.
-It's a really good story, with a bit of mystery, and a storyline behind the love story. The cake scene in the epilogue was hilarious.
-Ellis' father was bought out of his newspaper. We know because it comes out in the story four times. A bit much.
-I so wish the author would know the difference between "fiancé" and "fiancée". She's only using male for everyone in all her books and it bothers me A LOT.

A romance with supernatural compositions which force our hero Ash and Ellis into falling for each other by some inexplicable force of a "cursed ring". Ash's grandmother, the matriarch of the Cromwell company and family grants her grandchildren each a piece of jewelry with the hope that they would each find their soulmates. What ensues is so funny for Ash, a staunch non believer in love and Ellis, adamant on taking revenge on the Cromwell family by writing an expose on Ash! Ash's grandmother is one character you would never forget whose youthful appearance vibrantly colorful language, glamorous commanding status is not your typical granny, anybody older might be, but not her. She is striking and although strick, has the best intentions for her defiant grandchildren. A book about finding love, superstitious beliefs, family ties, respect, seductive interludes and memorable characters. Find out if Ash and Ellis are destined to find their soulmates in "Stuck on You" by Lindsey Hart.

This is a delightful, often hilarious, story of a cursed ring, a daughter set on revenge and a grandmother who knew what she was doing. Ellis has a bone to pick with Asherly Cromwell and she's going undercover to get some dirt on him. Ash's family is guilty of destroying Ellis's dad and the family business. Ash's father had promised her father that he would not lose his job when the Cromwells took over their company. That was a lie and Ellis won't rest until she takes down Ash. Out of the blue, a box bounces at Ellis and, somehow, the ring inside gets stuck on her finger. Nothing she can do will make it come unstuck, so it must be the curse. The curse? Granny Cromwell put a curse on each of the rings that she gave to her grandchildren to help them find their soulmate. This story ranges between silly to serious, with such cute humor (especially from Granny) and poignant family moments. The happy ending is well-deserved and I hope that it's but the first of many stories for the Cromwell family!

I have to say this book had me laughing and giggling throughout this book. It's told in alternating first person POVs and some of Ellis and Ash's inner dialogs had me laughing. Ash's granny is a hoot. She seeks out help to have some of her jewelry cursed. One piece for each of her five grandchildren, she's a good granny and wants her grandchildren to find their soulmates. See the curse is for the owner to find their soulmate. Ash doesn't believe in love but he doesn’t want to tempt fate, if granny says it is cursed it may very well be cursed. Ellis wants revenge against Ash's family so she takes a job as Ash's maid looking for a story to write and she finds one but ends up with the cursed ring on her finger. What ensues is funny and Ellis comes to realize that Ash's and his family aren't necessarily the bad guys she thought they are. I enjoyed the book and hope the author releases the other grandkids stories.

This is a hilarious and steamy story!! It begins with Ellis taking a side job as a maid for Asherly (Ash) in order to get dirt on him to ruin his life in retaliation for some presumed wrongs his family did to hers. While working, she over hears a conversation between Ash and Meryl, a socialite from New York, in which they're discussing plans for a fake engagement and wedding. They are both being nagged by their families to get married and they want it to stop. During this discussion the topic of a "cursed" engagement ring is brought up. It seems that Ash's granny has bestowed cursed items to Ash, his younger brother and cousins. The "curse" is supposed to link them to their soulmates; but they've made a pact to not believe in love or such nonsense as soulmates. Fast forward and Ellis ends up with Ash's cursed ring on her finger and hilarity and lust ensues. Of course it's all due to the "curse" on the ring. This is a sweet, hilarious and totally steamy story and you will not be disappointed. It is totally worth a read!

I absolutely loved this book! It was funny, sassy, sexy and downright awesome! Ash and Ellis meet when she poses as a maid to get some dirt on him after his family ruined hers. But fate has other ideas in store as he ends up wearing a family heirloom, a cursed ring given to him by his grandmother to be used for finding his soulmate. Ash and his brother and cousins have sworn off love due to the actions of their respective fathers that left their family in tatters. None of them believe in the curse until now. The ensuing journey after the ring ends up on her finger is full of Ellis slinging insults at Ash, Ash doing nice things despite what Ellis thinks of him, and one hysterical Granny determined to find love for her grandkids. The story has a wonderful, heartwarming end and Granny’s antics help make this book a definite must read!

When I want a to read a contemporary romantic story, Lindsey Hart books are one of my choices. I love her writing that has humor, along with very likable characters to get invested in as I read their drama, interactions and romance unfold among the pages. This enjoyable cute romance is about Ellis (Elisa) who is doing a undercover gig as a maid to get the dirt on Ash (Asherly Cromwell) and his family who bought out her father's publishing business. Ellis hearing raised voices between Ash and his fiancé Meryl, turns on her hidden recorder. She hears them arguing about a cursed heirloom ring that is to find their soul mate that his Granny gave him and about their fake marriage arrangement. Ash gets the ring and opens the box which startles Ellis that makes Meryl hit the box which makes it bounce toward Ellis who hears the words "Put it on". What occurs afterward when the ring refuses to come off is a delightful read in this ARC that I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Okay unsure how to start this off Ellis is a journalist working undercover as a maid to right a wrong done to her father, so she goes into it to uncover dirt not realizing that she walked right into the grandmother’s trap of her grandbabies meeting their soulmates. Ash is the sexy as all get out grandson and hated by Ellis and doesn’t understand why. So, when she tries the ring on it is stuck due to the curse put on the ring making a believer out of all her grandchildren but how do they beat the curse, will they even want to, will he right the wrong done and can they find happiness?

Ellis wants revenge for what she thinks happened to her father. However she never expected to be pulled into a family curse or to fall for the man she hated from the start. Ash was willing to do a fake marriage with a friend but when the friend wanted a heirloom his grandmother had given him he was against it. Especially since his grandmother has told him and his cousins about a family curse. Then when the ring box falls down the steps and Ellis sees it something calls to her to put it on. When she ends up in a trance Ash and his lady friend panic about the curse. Once Ellis is back to normal they still cant remove the ring from her finger. Will they find a way to get it off? Or will the ring bring them closer together?

This is an amazing story that will have you laughing out loud at parts. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I simply loved this book! A slight departure from the other Lindsey Hart storylines. It’s an original plot that really engage right from the start. I found I really engaged with both the main characters – Ellis & Ash – as well as Ash’s family (Especially his larger than life, granny!). It turns out that Ellis isn’t the hard-nosed, muck-raking reporter she thinks she is; and Ash isn’t the rich, entitled, jerk she assumed he was. Throw in the ‘mystic’ setting of New Orleans and an heirloom ring that may or may not be ‘cursed’ and you have all the elements of an engaging and, often funny, romance with an HEA that will have you believing in magic! I really hope this is the first in a series and Lindsey Hart is going to pen more stories about the rest of Ash’s family – I will certainly be reading them if she does!

Rating is 3.5.

Interesting concept for the story and it was a new-to-me author.

A ring is one heirloom that Ash’s grandmother had cursed and gave to her grandchildren to help them find their soulmates. Since none of them believe in that, they made a pact against it. All was fine until the new maid picked up the dropped ring box and put it on. Oh, and can’t take it off.

Of course the new maid is not what she appears. Ellis is really an undercover reporter trying to get dirt on the family to avenge a wrong the did.

Lots of things go on in this book including funny talks with granny, interactions with the close knit cousins and covering up Ellis’ real life.

I did enjoy the story, but found it to be overly dramatic in a few places. Didn’t love the way they presented the back stories.

Light hearted romantic story. The Cromwell family is quite a big name in Newe Orleans, but Ellis doesn;t like the family. Holding them responsible for shutting down her fathers printing business, and his subsequent depression, she seeks revenge. She works as a maid at Ashs house, hoping to uncover a scandal about the family.
Ash and his fake fiancee argue over the engagement ring Ash got from his grandmother. The betrothed wants to use it, Ash doesnt because his Grandma said it has a curse on it. And it shows when the ring rolls down the stairs and Ellis puts it on: she can;t get it off. The start of a quest to get the ring off, or maybe a search for each other? Well written, nice characters, an other family members with cursed jewelry..........

A Curse or A Blessing?

A beautiful ring is the centre of attention & cause of concern when Ellis has a moment of insanity by placing this cursed ring onto her finger. When she can't remove the ring off her finger, the chaos & fun starts for these two. This is a light-hearted entertaining story of two people who are fighting against this curse as whomever wears this ring is going to be Ash's soulmate. They can deny this curse by Ash's granny is adamant a curse on a piece of jewelry really works & she most definitely wants to see her grandson's married off. Will this innocent-looking ring be a blessing in these two people really seeing each other as soulmates or will this indeed by a curse & is more troublesome for their lives?

This is the first book in Lindsey Hart's new series Fated To Love You, this is Ash and Ellis story.

While working undercover as a maid, Ellis is really a journalist trying to get revenge on Ash's family for putting her dad out of work and making him the way he is now. After eavesdropping on the conversation between Ash and his fake girlfriend soon to be fake fiancée then fake wife, they are talking about an expensive diamond ring that Ash says his Granny has cursed, it is only meant for his soulmate, when he drops the box and it falls down the stairs, and Ellis picks it up and puts it on...no matter what they try the ring will not budge, it wont come off, she is stuck with him until it does!

Then the fun begins, and everything that happens they blame on the cursed ring, I wont give any spoilers, but i really enjoyed this book and already pre-ordered the next.
