Kit Nelson was thrown into the world of demons and cults as a child. He’s learned to depend on no one, and to do all he can to keep himself safe from dark forces. He also knows he can’t trust anyone else with his life. He knows what the demons who hunt him have in mind for him, and he’ll fight it every step of the way.
Tommy Smythe and his sister Lola have been fighting what they know is a rising tide of evil for years. They’re prepared with all their paranormal weaponry, including the assistance of an ancient god who has fought demons his whole existence. Tutu, the Egyptian god and Master of Demons has chosen Tommy to be his vessel and his sword when needed to destroy any and all demons.
A new threat ripples through the dark underworld, one that will be felt across all mankind. A demon has chosen one whose body he will use to return to the land of the living. But only if Kit, Tommy, and Lola can’t stop him. Only Tutu has the power and knowledge to protect them from the demon Rerek, and he also knows even with his help, this is not going to be an easy battle.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Kit and Tutu/Tommy were interesting and great characters. And the whole fighting with demons was so good. I love demon stories and this time spiced with a "reincarnated" Egyptian God too, it was just so good.
The romance isn't the main centre of the story but I enjoyed that 'soul mate' aspect of their relationship so muh. It's instalove (which normally I don't like), but this time I liked it. Both Tutu and Kit were sweet.
The book has action in it, you will bite your nails while reading it.
Tutu is a really enjoyable quick and action packed read. Loved the characters and the world building. And loved that Kit wasn't lost when everything seemed doomed, he got spirit and fought for his life no matter what. I love strong and spirited characters.
Nice story! It’s a very interesting take on gods and demon hunters. There’s plenty of demons and action. There’s also a budding romance between Kit and Tommy/Tutu. Not a ton of heat, but the story is great without it. I can’t wait to read the whole anthology!
“Are you injured?” The kindness and concern in his voice surprised me. “You just killed two demons and you’re worried I’m injured?”
And we’re back to the Malicious Gods:Egypt series. This time with a new to me author. Out of all the three books already published this is the least twisted. So, if you’re curious about this series, but aren’t into extremely dark stories you’d give this one a try.
Since this is a short book, right from chapter one we’re immersed in the action. Destiny brought Kit and Tutu/Tommy to the same place to confront their demon problems. Almost a lifetime for both of them, either blattling or hiding from those heinous creatures. And most of the book is focused on that so if you’re looking for a romance this won't be for you. And that was the problem for me, the insta-love trope is something I don’t tend to enjoy. But hey, to each their own!
One man with trust issues. A demon hunter god. If you like insla-love and want to read a short book, go for it!

Tutu is set in the Malicious Gods: Egypt universe. I seriously loved Tutu/Tommy and Kit, but Lola was a serious bada$$!! Each of these stories in this universe have been scarily dark, but not this one. Tutu was perfect for my tastes. I literally couldn’t put this one down. I loved the authors take on the Egyptian Gods and demons. I would love to see more in this story line with Tutu/Tommy, Kit, Lola and Blake!! I’m voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received.
Wow! This book took me into a world of crazy scary demons, demon hunters and an exorcist. Tutu is one bada** demon hunter who just so happens to reside inside of Tommy. When they run into Kit everything changes and they decide they have to do their best to save him and the rest of world. But there is so much working against them. This book was a thrilling ride from the beginning to end and even made me a bit teary eyed at one point. Truly but darkly wonderful!
I loved this book. since a young age Kit Nelson has had run in with demons because of his parents. He is on his own and can trust no one. He knows what the demons want. But how long can he dodge them. Tommy Smythe and Lola (his sister) have been fighting evil forces for years. They have weapons and Tutu ( Egyptian god) who hunts demons. But a demon Rerek has come for what he was promised Kit body. Can Kit, Tommy, and Lola stop Rerek before its to late and save Kit?
I liked it. It wasn’t exactly the kind of dark I expect but It was an entertaining story. I liked Tutu and the interactions he had with Tommy, maybe that was my favorite part of the story, understanding what was going on with them. Everything about that particular dynamic was very interesting. I also liked Kit. He was a charming character, maybe he was a bit too nice for me, but I don’t think anyone else would have an issue with him being nice.
As much as I did like the story, there were also a few things that didn’t work for me. The relationship between the main characters was developed way too fast for my taste. I prefer slow burn stories and, maybe because of that, I had a bit of trouble believing they truly had feelings for each other. That wasn’t the biggest problem I had. The book had some parts that were a bit uncomfortable for me, I can’t think it could be a trigger for anyone so I don’t think it need a warning and I can guess is only an issue for me and no one more. I won’t say more about it because it can be a spoiler, but the most exciting moments in the book, contain some elements that are generally would make me not finish a book. I was particularly interested on knowing what would happen so I did keep reading, even if trying to skip the parts that were uncomfortable.
Overall it was a nice book. With ups and downs but entertaining enough to made me be unable to stop reading.
I really liked Lola and would want her on my side in any fight. I enjoyed the dynamic between Tutu and Tommy and how they worked together and put Kit first, who impressed me with how he rolled with everything. Although I did wish for a little more dark overall with the story and more tension between the MCs, it was a fun book to read.
This is one of the least dark Malicious Gods books. I expected more and the ending left me feeling like I missed chunks of a story that wasn’t there. I enjoyed the story line and I just wish there had been more romance or steam, or just something. It was an interesting take on another lesser known god.
I received an arc of this book from an author giveaway and this is my honest review.
I enjoyed this book but to me it was not as dark as I thought it would be. Yes, there are demons and a main character whose life is in jeopardy but it just didn’t quite reach that spot. The romance is tame and I felt there could have been (needed to be?) more background to the characters and story in general. This is the first book I have read by this author but that said, probably won’t be the last
BL Maxwell proves to be the first to the finish line with getting her contribution to the Malicious Gods: Egypt series to the audio format. Tutu was an Egyptian god worshipped by ordinary people all over Egypt during The Late Period which existed from 664 BC until 332 BC. Tutu was placed in a position of power over demons and it was his role to slay them. Originally the protector of tombs, Tutu was stated to have given protection from demons, giving longer life and protecting people from the Netherworld. In the writer's incarnation, Tutu shares a symbiotic relationship with Tommy Smythe who comes from a long line of human demon slayers that can be traced back to the time when Tutu was worshipped in Egypt. Every generation, a member is asked to serve as the vessel of Tutu to expedite the fight against demons. Tommy accepted the honor when he was 18-years-old. He and his sister Lola are the last of their line, right at a time when the fighting against demons is at its fiercest. Chasing down a water demon who kills a couple of humans, Tommy prevents it from killing the third. It is at this point Tommy discovers Kit Nelson. Kit Nelson's upbringing is far from ideal being raised by parents who belonged to a demon-worshipping cult. It was their desire to offer Kit as a sacrifice in becoming a vessel the demon Rerek. His parents among others are killed during the ritual but Kit is marked and released for future capturing. He is befriended by a demon hunter who teaches him how to protect and defend himself but his motives seem to benefit Rerek. As luck would have it, Rerek becomes interested in reclaiming Kit after he has warranted the protection of Tutu incarnate. In this urban fantasy story, writer BL Maxwell gives readers one outstanding piece of realism--Kit Nelson's unwillingness to trust others! The author carves out totally credible actions and reactions for Kit that make him a plausible yet brave character. That he has a bit of fight in him is laudable, given past betrayals from those who should or claim to care for him. Then the writer allows him to share his feeling of loneliness, giving the audience a credible reason for him taking a chance on Tommy and his sister Lola. The character Tommy is larger-than-life even without the god Tutu. And Lola is a delightful portion of enjoyment and excitement. Ms. Maxwell's story checks all of the necessary boxes for a truly remarkable tale and narrator Allen Jeffries renders an incredible performance for this excellent story.
Not having read the first two books in the series, I went straight in with this audiobook. And I loved it.
The story is about an Egyptian god who is reincarnated at regular intervals over the years. He's here to fight the demons that are occupying and trying to take over the world.
As a child, Kit Nelson was part of a cult, and his parent sold him to the demons whilst performing their rituals. As a result, he's been one step ahead of the demons most of his life, or so he thought until he met Tutu (Tommy).
As I said earlier, I haven't read the first two books in this series, and it didn't deter my enjoyment of this book. It kept me engrossed.
The narration for me was extremely slow; most people know that I speed up my audios to around 1.30 on audible, but this one went straight up to 1.75. However, I enjoyed it once it was fast enough to keep my brain happy.

I received this audiobook for free from the author, and my review is my opinion and an honest review.
I’m a huge fan of BL Maxwell and her wonderful stories. She typically writes low angst, comfort reads with endearing and romantic men so I was very surprised to see her participating in a dark romance multi-author lineup. I was very hesitant about picking up this book so I messaged the author to ask if there were any triggers. Luckily, Tutu didn’t have any triggers for me because it’s low angst, mild romance, and reads more like a paranormal story. Tutu is Book 3 in the Malicious Gods: Egypt multiverse but can be read as a stand-alone like the other books. This story is about an Egyptian god who shares the same body as his human host (Tommy). They meet Kit one night when demons are hunting Kit for his blood. I always enjoy reading BL Maxwell’s books especially the epilogues because she does a wonderful job of wrapping up the story in a nice conclusion for her readers. I hope the author considers writing more paranormal stories :)
If you want the demons dead, Tutu is your guy. The ancient Egyptian deity has been fighting demons for millennia through his reincarnations. Thankfully Kit finds this out just in time to be saved from a demon attack. But the demons keep coming for Kit, and it will test even Tutu's skill to stop them. This book packs plenty of action not only from Tutu and Kit but also from Tutu's tough-as-nails sister and a part-time exorcist. While the overall plot is certainly compelling, I wanted more of the backstory on Tutu's incarnation and his partners-in-demon-fighting, all interesting characters who I felt could have brought more depth to the action. If you're looking for a fast-paced, action-packed plot, though, this book has that in spades.

Plenty of action and demons to slay! I loved this book about a reincarnated Egyptian god, Tutu, inhabiting the body of Tommy. The bond, connection and relationships between the two co-habiting Tommy’s body actually evolves during the book and s very interesting to read. Meanwhile they meet Kit, who’s been marked by a demon and is always on the run for his life. He doesn’t trust easily and is skittish and prickly as a porcupine! But something compels him to open up to and trust Tutu/Tommy. Together they have an exorbitant amount of demons to slay and a life (Kit’s to save), along with coming to terms with their budding feelings for each other… Well-written, fast-paced and full of action, I really enjoyed this book!
I was so excited to see that this book was actually paranormal, and that BL Maxwell was the author. But this book just didn’t interest me. Tommy/Tutu went from confused about having emotions to suddenly being full of love a bit too suddenly. And where was the proof that Kit’s friend wasn’t honest, I just didn’t get it…
Was Kit’s great destiny accomplished? If so, that was quite lackluster… Isn’t Kit still blood bound to the demon? Has anything really changed? And after all is said and done, if things had been resolved, should/would I still be having these questions?
Interesting mix of sect, cult, and paranormal A slightly disorienting mix of different ideas, from paranormal and almost magical manifestations to ancient Egyptian gods mingling with hordes of demons. Fast storyline, lots of confusion, typical stop-the-apocalypse action
I dont think it is fair for me to review this book, but it didn't feel as dark to me as the others in the series this far. And the writing style was just not a good fit.
This book was both exciting and suspenseful. Tommy and Kit were drawn to each other for a reason that they didn't understand but all is explained as they partner up.
