But worse than that, in her opinion, someone tried to kill her.Now in the line of fire, Constance is determined to find out who is trying to kill her. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Not only does Sheriff Nevil want Constance to remain hidden for her own safety, but Eleanor is also determined to stop Constance from getting herself in any more trouble. But when another attempt is made on her life, and then another, Constance begins to suspect that there might be more to this case than meets the eye. If she’s going to have any chance of solving it, she’s going to need to escape the watchful eyes of her friends and literally dodge bullets, otherwise the killer might get exactly what they’re Constance’s life. Please Ninth Volume of the the Lone Peak Mystery Series. Book 9 in this series does not disappoint! Constance, the owner of the Lone Peak Hotel is on a rampage. How did the exclusive competing restaurant steal her chef - the best chef in the whole area! Because of this, she has to close her hotel restaurant. What does the restaurant owner have over Constance's chef to make a once cantankerous chef into a cowering one? Constance will find out! When she goes to the local market, she runs into a new person in town, literally. Constance, who has never been at a loss for words couldn't stop staring at this very handsome and polite man who just happens to ask her out. Not being on a date in years, she stalls and doesn't know if she should go or not, but when confronted with Sheriff Nevel who mentions he found someone, she decides to go on the date with debonair Henry and accepts the date in front of the sheriff. Henry takes Constance to her nemesis's restaurant. Through her nervousness, and the odd behavior of her date when the waiter came for drink orders, Constance orders a drink. When the drink is put in front of Henry by mistake and he tries it, he falls dead at the table. Now we get into who is trying to kill Constance and of course she won't heed the warning and try investigating herself. A few more dead bodies and attempts on her life and much to the chagrin of Sheriff Nevel and her best friend Eleanor she continues to investigate. Will she get out of this one? Who is trying to kill her and why? With so many dead ends, red-herrings and lots of twists and turns we are taken on a wonderful ride right to the end. I love this series and the mix of main characters and look for more every time I finish one. This is a fun must read series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!
