Take one part older mountain man + one part younger curvy girl, and you get one high heat, steamy romance.
Scar: I’m a mountain man looking to hunt animals, not women.
So imagine my surprise when Marilyn falls right into my lap.
She’s from California and this is her first time…in more ways than one.
She’s got curves that’ll drive a man wild, but she’s too young for me.
I’ll save her life though, because I’m a gentleman, but that’s it.
Until she asks me to show her a little discipline.... When my firm hand meets her untouched bottom, sparks are going to fly.
Scar is Book One in The Men of Devil’s Peak series. These are stand-alone short steamy romance books that feature over the top mountain men finding curvy damsels in distress that they just can’t help but keep to themselves.
DNF @ 50%. Review without stars because this was part me, part the story, part the narration.
Daddy kink isn’t my thing. If I’d known that’s what it was I wouldn’t have started it.
Though - I do have a serious objection to hitting someone without a talk about consent, etc. I get that it’s a short story, but it just came out of nowhere. Doesn’t feel sexy.
Narration: I tried to listen at first but Eden Cavell has a high, tinny, grating voice to me. Definitely recommend listening to a few samples of her work before purchasing to be sure her performances work for you.
Marilyn was ready to prove to herself and everyone else that she could survive anything, and getting some time away from a fiancé that she doesn’t love and a father that would use her as a commodity rather than a daughter. So when she heard about Devil’s Peak in Alaska that was where she was heading. Arriving in Alaska she realises that she is totally unprepared for this adventure she has set herself. Traipsing around Devil’s Peak she has no idea what danger is waiting for her and just when she was about to take the perfect selfie she meets Scar. From that moment on her life takes a different turn but will she choose a rustic life with the gruff mountain man or return to the man her father chose for her?
Scar has always known that Devil’s Peak was where he would spend his life and once upon a time he had it all the life he loved with his wife by his side but after tragedy struck and he was left alone. Over the years he has got used to his own company and had never thought that he would find anyone again. That is until the fateful day that he was out hunting and spotted Marilyn, his breath caught straight away by this young woman who is stood directly in front of an avalanche. Getting her to safety is all he can think about and once he has her ensconced in his home he will try and resist what he knows will be irresistible. Could this woman be his future or leave him with another broken heart?
I loved this until the very last page where I felt that it just ended abruptly, there is a little DDLG but it is hardly worth mentioning and I still really enjoyed the book but because of the ending it’s a 3.8* read. Won’t stop me reading more though.
Sometimes the little things in life aren’t so little after all.
Quick Summary Marilyn thought she’s accepted the fact that she’d never be able to please her father but when she finds herself trapped in an engagement to a man who doesn’t want her or love her, she knows that her abandonment issues are rearing their ugly heads.
Feeling desperate and with no where to run, Abby heads to Alaska and a chance encounter with Scar changes her life for the better.
🖤 ~ My Thoughts ~ 🖤 Mountain Ranger Scar ends up rescuing Marilyn and taking her back to his cabin. These two were polar opposites at first glance but their time together spotlights on their similarities and their explosive chemistry. I loved how Scar goes out of his way to be the protector that Marilyn needs. Not so much physically but on a more emotional level. After years of being judged and found wanting by her own father, her cold fiancé and her superficial friends, Scar’s unconditional love and support is a revelation to Marilyn and it was nice to see her growing confidence because of it.
This was a story that pulled me right in and charmed me with the alpha Hero who was capable, mature and seductive as hell. Marilyn was also my type of heroine. She was a bit vulnerable and innocent but also honest and open. She was ready to step out of the gloomy shadow her upbringing cast on her and be the loving and lovable person she always wanted to be. Having Scar in her corner made all the difference.
I love reading about nurturing/caring Heroes and heroines and Marilyn and Scar delivered on that. They were so adorable together. Their relationship started off quick but it wasn’t all about the sexy times (although those are freakin hot!) I definitely can believe that they’ll be together forever 😊
Heat Level: 5/5, these two are steamy together!!!

She needs to prove to herself she is strong, and then he proves he is in charge
Scar: is the first book in The Men Of Devil's Peak series. This short story is steamy hot and a lot of fun. The story is about Marilyn and Scar who meet in a dangerous situation. Marilyn has traveled to Alaska to do a difficult hike as a way to prove to herself that she actually strong. This is because her father and fiance are both butts who always put her down. She makes it to the end of the hike which is a scenic lookout. But her moment is ruined when an older man grabs her and hauls her away. The older mountain man is not kidnapping her but he is rescuing her from an avalanche that was coming. Scar is a mountain man who lives in a cabin in the wilds of Alaska. One day when he is out hunting he does catch something that he would like to keep....a beautiful young woman who has curves he would like to explore. The weather turns bad so Scar and Marilyn are forced to be together, with some sparks flying between them. This was a short but well done story that has it all - drama, emotion, action, heart pounding passion, romance, heartache, and more.
Marilyn has decided to go on an adventure to Alaska to get away from her fiance. She has arrived in the winter time and is not as prepared as she should have been. Marilyn hears a rumbling but it doesn't register to her as an avalanche until Scar comes upon her to get them to hightail it out of the area. Marilyn realizes that she doesn't want to return to her fiance because Scar makes her feel good. Scar has been missing the passing of his wife and even though there is a big age difference between him and Marilyn, he does feel something for her. This is book #1 of "The Men of Devil's Peak" series. Enjoy!
Scar is a short novella which could be read in one sitting. It follows Marilyn, a curvy-girl who is also a virgin that has travelled to Alaska to get away from the villains in her life - her father and her fiance. Scar lives on the mountain, he is twice Marilyn's age and is a widow. He has a large penis which Marilyn rides like a pro quite quickly after meeting him. I just didn't find this story believable and the quick meet, straight on to spanking and then straight on to amazing first time sex for a virgin just couldn't work in my head. I think if the story was longer and more developed then it has the potential to be a good book.
Sometimes you have to get lost to to find your way
Pretty good read. 24 yr old Virgin girl running from her fiance that sounds like an ass and a life she isn't happy with. Rescued by a 39 yr old sexy widowed mountain man. Steam lvl (1-10)= 3&1/2 ( only 1 scene) He likes giving spankings but thank goodness there isn't any diaper wearing fetish and it's not really a strong Daddy role. Ends in a HFN - I really like when there is an epilogue but this story did not include one. I gave this story 4 stars because I did enjoy reading it and it did end on a happy note.
Marilyn Finch is looking for change in her life. This24 year old woman knows that something has to change. So she goes to Alaska. 🗻
Scar Dixon is a big guy. He's 39 years old and a widower. Besides being 15 years older than Marilyn. This 6'5 man likes what he sees.
The first meeting is a little crazy. But the attraction between them is instant. Between the spankings and first time sex. This was a hot and steamy read. It's a HEA book.
This is the first in a new series about “The Men of Devil’s Peak” by Kelsie Calloway and if they all are as hot and wonderful as Scar, we have lots of five star books ahead! This is a fast paced short story of love at first sight, making changes in your life, and becoming happy with who you are.

This is an enjoyable quick read with an older mountain man and a younger curvy woman. Marilyn runs away to Alaska to feel more alive in life. That’s where she meets Scar, an older mountain man who saves her life. This book was sweet and steamy with a really good ending.

I love this type of book. Marilyn is trying to show she's independent, resourceful and can take care of herself. Until Scar saves her from an oncoming avalanche. They end up falling in love. He shows her what true love is. There's more to the story so you should check it out. Enjoy :)
Each story in the series appears to be a standalone. They are novellas. They are all very short. The ending of this one barely satisfies. The second book has an even more unsatisfying ending. I read book 2, also a short novella, and I won’t be continuing the series due to lack of endings to the stories.
A very short and steamy instant connection contemporary romance. Marilyn flees her life and fiancée in California only to be rescued on a mountain in Alaska by Scar. Who will she choose?
This was a short novella though I enjoyed marilyn and scar if expanded there could be more especially with scars past and marilyn’s fiancé drama. Wish it was longer but a good read for what it is as a short story.
I really liked this book. The characters were relatable. Scar is $ex on a stick. Marilyn is lost and in need of direction. I just wish there was an epilogue like 2 years later or something.
Lectura corta y concisa, no estuvo mal aunque siento que pudo llegar a más si nos hubiesen hablado más de los protagonistas, siendo honesta no me pareció tan mal pero tiene bastantes espacios narrativos importantes
There was a lot character development and back story for such a short story, only thirty four pages. It was very entertaining, with a bit of sweet and sad mixed in.
