Symposium is a debut collection of short stories and poems by Robyn King, centering around several characters from Greek Mythology. Midas, Penelope, and Sisyphus all feature in modern-day abstractions of their original legends, sometimes with a humorous twist, more often without.
I am also a featured voice actor, playing the character Miranda, on the audio drama The Disappearances of Lydia Fountayne, you can find out more about it here: https://www.lydiadisappears.com/
Heartwarming and funny in places and utterly gut wrenching in others. A quick read but a worthy one. Hats off Robyn this one has a permanent place on my bookshelf.
Ah what a wonderful thing you've written Robyn!!!!! You're writing is so simple and so elegant I'm in love. My favourites are Pasiphaë and Penelope, because Theo made me tear up a little not gonna lie and the idea of Penelope doing stand up about Odysseus is so fuckin funny. Also the rhyme "a wager with the devil's a fine thing / but you do not get a golden tune / from a golden violin" will stick with my forever.
