Carl finally learns the truth about his brother. He now sees an enemy, one that he is bent on destroying no matter what it takes. But when he learns of the sacrifice for such an endeavor, he wonders if he is willing to pay the price. Or maybe there's another way.

Harry is determined to keep Lance safe at all cost from the Mafia werewolves and especially from A, their alpha. He has a plan and finally has the numbers on his side to take down the mafia. But, he might have to kill Carl to accomplish it. Knowing that things with Lance will never be the same if Carl dies, he struggles to look for another option. Or maybe, he has no other choice.

Lance is caught in a world that is too foreign to him and he has no say in it or no way to escape. All he knows is that he cares for both Harry and Carl and doesn’t want to see either of them killed.

As the night they have all waited for draws closer, they prepare for the Apex, the match that would determine the fate of the three men and all that has been built.

The Apex is the 5th and final book in the A New Moon series. This is the conclusion to the series that began with Gutter Grounds. All previous books should be read in order as this is not a stand alone work.

Events have reached their veritable peak and tension between the Mafia and the Carter clan is ready to explode. Both Harry and A have their plans on how to deal with each other during the fight in the Apex and only one is about to come out of it alive. Carl is ready to give up his life for his quest for vengeance not realizing he was just being manipulated by A. Lance is caught between the two men and wanting them to not fight, but he is helpless and can only hope for the best.

The Apex gives a satisfying closure to the story of Carl, Harry and Lance. Though it is the story of all three men, this book felt like more of a Carl and Harry centric one with it tying every loose end with the plot involving them. The story is action packed with some quiet moments in between. The atmosphere leading to the climax is rife with tension and leaves one wondering on how all of the questions will be answered. It was great to see the come-uppance of A though I'd have loved to have seen him suffer more for all of the terrible things he has done. Seeing the Carter Clan take a united front and act as one under Harry's leadership is satisfying to read.

Like the previous parts though, this too suffers from some pacing issues. The flow of the story feels bumpy in some sections - with some parts being a bit too fast one moment then a sudden lull which is a bit jarring.

Despite all the flaws mentioned above, The Apex was still an enjoyable read with a fulfilling enough conclusion to the series. I am giving this a 4 stars out of 5.

Glorious end to this series! High in excitement and thrill, and some romance!
There was a lot of action in these last steps of that story, and the author could totally get me captured.
I still thought: oh my, how is this going to end! And it was not clear until the end. So it was well worth reading as I was totally drawn to it.
There is just one thing: I just want to continue following these characters and see how things are developing, but unfortunately it is the end. Hard for me to let go.
That was an amazing and entertaining story, captivating with lovely characters.
I hope to be able to read something similar soon again by this author!
The whole series highly recommendable for all lovers of paranormal action.
I received it for free but leave a review freely and voluntarily because I more than enjoyed reading it.

As we've entered the final book in this series, many revelations have been discovered.

Fates hang in the balance for these men. What will happen as time draws near and decisions must be made. The tensions are high and a very real presence. Who will come out on top? Will all of this be worth the outcome? Can a united front be maintained?

With the five book series, there were a few points that are a minor issue to follow. So much to pack in and keep a natural flow. Overall, I would recommend and re-read again as a complete series.

Harry Carter has worked for this. All he wanted was to stop the madness happening in the “Gutter Grounds,” and now he has to protect the person he’s grown to love and fight to the death the brother of the only other werewolf he’s had to fight. We learn that A is a master manipulator and he has to be because HE. CANT. FIGHT! While the final book was good, I expected a little more. It was sort of high action and then it just falls flat, and it left me wanting…

The final fight

The books are short so this is a review of the whole series. This is the best book in the series and I like how it concludes. This is a new author for me and since I’m giving an honest review, the writing is not that good in the first three books, stilted. It gets much better in books four and five and the storyline and characters are interesting to keep me reading. Overall I rate this series a four star and the last book a five. I will check out the author’s other works.

This was the satisfying conclusion to the A New Moon series. All the previous books should be read in order to get the full understanding. We get closure to the story of Carl, Harry and Lance. The story is full of action and I felt a lot of tension at points in the story. Overall this was really good. Highly recommend.

This is the final book in the series and it was a good ending although I thought there was just something missing for me. I wanted more. I think because I missed the first three books I missed out and I will be rereading this series from the beginning. I am excited to read more from Inge Mayhem.

Is it time to exhale yet? Just joking! The Apex is a culmination of all that transpired to lead up to this story. How does A direct this new mess? Who does A see as the key players? Who gets to fight? Who is victorious? Are there any happy endings? Interesting. Intense. I like the characters, but they are still a bit shallow. Nicely done. It was a. Good Short read. It was good for a tired night so I didn't have to think too much. The characters are too shallow for me though.

Short and sweet ending. Harry comes into his own and his family steps up to do their parts! In the end Lance is relieved to have Harry in his arms for good!
