In her determination to access the library as soon as possible, Rozemyne put her absolute all into her studies from the moment she arrived at the Royal Academy. Unfortunately for her, she behaved so unusually in the process that her retainers and professors have grown increasingly worried.
Rozemyne finally clashes with the greater duchy Dunkelfelger over Schwartz and Weiss, and a game of treasure-stealing ditter is arranged between the two duchies’ apprentice knights. To make matters worse, she completely ignores proper diplomacy, accepting furtive consultations from the archduke candidates of other duchies and even giving the prince himself romantic advice! Her complete lack of foresight leaves the leaders of Ehrenfest in constant cranial agony.

Šajā grāmatā lēnām sāk iepazīstināti studenti no citām valstīm, valsts nākotnes līderi.

Nezinot tālāko sižeta līniju, es izsaku minēju, ka nākotnē būs vēl viens karš šajā pasaulē.

I keep saying this, but this is another great addition to the series. I'm loving Rozemyne's time in the Royal Academy so much!

The prologue is in Solange's POV. This is almost more of bonus content than anything else, as it gives some insights into the library and Solange, but nothing too exciting happens here.

As for the rest of this book, Rozemyne really thought she could spend the rest of her time at the academy reading uninterrupted, but various problems arise. I really enjoyed how the conflict with Schwartz and Weiss was handled, as there's so much complexity there I didn't give much thought or know, just like Rozemyne.

I love how Rozemyne's goal was to mostly stay under the radar, yet she gets involved with some of the biggest players. It just makes things so much more fun and interesting.

Also, I personally thought Rozemyne handled things rather well this volume and the last, but then that one chapter towards the end... It had me simultaneously laughing and going 'good point.'

The epilogue is from Benno's POV. It's hard to get into it without spoilers, as it's his thoughts on the prior chapter plus him helping Lutz work through things. It was a nice way to turn some of the sadness into a bit of hope, though.

Bonus stories. The first one is from Anastasius' POV, and I loved it. He's one of the most interesting characters to me, and I want to root for him, but I'm still not sure what that means in the grand scheme. Anyways, I absolutely love seeing this moment. It makes me wonder how nobles ever get their true feelings across. :P

The next story is from Leonore's POV. It covers some of what life is like when Rozemyne isn't around for him to serve, as well as him going about implementing some of the things he learned throughout the course of this book.

I enjoyed all the bonus comics at the end, though I don't have much to say on them.

Overall, I was not expecting the story to go in the direction it has, but I'm absolutely loving it. Rozemyne can't help but stand out wherever she goes, which leads to a lot of complications, but also a lot of fun interactions. I'm absolutely loving the prince character, and I'm eager to see where things go.

may have stayed up too late reading this - but it was worth it! Work can wait.

I enjoyed the fall out from the reading rampage from the previous book. Some really fun moments. I am now excited by the next volume which should have some new upsets and Myne stepping on toes!

Enjoyable sarcastic MC

Myne is growing up to be more and more sarcastic and comfortable since she woke up from her coma. She still has a lot to learn about the world but she’s still has a better grip on it than everyone around her. Still not please with the big pot hole that everyone operates their lives on status quo, and the whole importance of nobles even with heavy dwindling numbers. Historically doesn’t make sense but this is a slice of life.

El Ascenso Del Ratón De Biblioteca

Volumen 14

❤️📖❤️

Arco 4

La Autoproclamada Bibliotecaria De La Real Academia 2

📖❤️📖

¡¡ Fascinante !!

❤️✨❤️

Recomendada 1000%

❤️❤️❤️

Aside from the dumbass (lovesick) prince, aside from the spiteful (petty) archknights, and aside from her exceedingly worrisome (annoying) caretakers back home, Rozemyne's first semester abroad is going swell.

ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v14 is the novel series' finest example of "one person's daily aspiration is another person's unmitigated disaster." Lady Rozemyne slips into a comfortable schedule of attending the library and further coaching up her duchy's peers. She occasionally makes time for a tea party or two, but only when necessary or in furtherance of her personal goals. Is it really Rozemyne's fault that she shows up Prince Anastasius, arrogant and abrasive, whenever he challenges her to prove her noble worth? Is it really Rozemyne's fault that the jerks from the duchy of Dunkelfelger are too stupid to do their own background work to avoid being humiliated when attempting to match wits?

Whatever the case, readers track Rozemyne's daily adventures as she ingratiates herself to the library staff, befuddles fellow archduke candidates, and occasionally wades into interduchy statecraft, if by sheer accident. ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v14 is a strong, entertaining read. Without constant commentary from Ferdinand, Sylvester, and Karstedt, the young woman's delightfully logical efforts to weasel out of danger are met with just the right balance of amusement and confusion. Social graces this girl has not. For example, when a rival duchy challenges Ehrenfest to a game of treasure-stealing ditter, Rozemyne-the-strategist absolutely dominates. And when Anastasius publicly chides her intellect, Rozemyne-the-brilliant calmly and coolly proves she's eternally prepared with a comeback.

One of the novel's best moments occurs during a tea party. A friendly get-together between Rozemyne and the dainty Lady Eglantine (duchy of Klassenberg) goes sideways when Anastasius crashes the party and insists Rozemyne compose a new piece of music for his sort-of girlfriend. The prince is throwing his weight around and trying to put Ehrefest in its place. Except, of course, Rozemyne snaps her fingers, orders her attendants into ready position, and blithely composes a new tune for the harspiel on the fly. She's that good. It isn't until much later that Rozemyne learns how constantly showing up royalty, and frequently responding to their prodding with raw sarcasm, is typically viewed as a death warrant. Whoops.

To that end, the current volume also makes a concerted effort to materialize the nation's political infrastructure. Readers learn more of the balance of power between the two princes (Anastasius and his elder brother, Sigiswald). Readers also learn more about the rules of succession (real or presumed), as well as the consequences of attempting to run away from one's royal fate.

As far as drama goes, ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v14 doesn't disappoint. When one of her retainers expresses outright disgust for serving a noble with such a weak constitution, Rozemyne must make a difficult decision regarding how to properly effect a punishment befitting the ignorant. To cut off a retainer is to disgrace a person's whole family. But doing so also makes one liable for retaliation. If she's too severe, then her reputation may shift toward a more authoritarian vibe. If she's too soft, then her other retainers may view her kindness as a weakness. What's a librarian to do?

And Rozemyne rampages again!

This book is packed with teacher-disciple similarities, struggle against the superiors, and Rozemyne fighting for her right to her much-treasured library!

This book is fun, gripping and one you simply wouldn't want to stop reading until the end. Every chapter follows Rozemyne's seemingly adventurous life which, no matter how much she claims to be one that is peaceful, is in fact full of big things and happenings one after another.

After finishing all her classes, Rozemyne is left to enjoy her land of paradise (a.k.a the library), however, things rarely go as planned.

It truly is amusing to see her seemingly doing the least but still attracting the most. Is it her innate talent to attract powerful people? Is it her utter lack of nobility common sense? Nobody knows. Her guardians can only grip their heads lol

Her lack of common sense edges her close to mistakes time and time again but thankfully, at each turn, she meets good people that, albeit exasperated with her upon knowing her more closely, still helps her in their own ways. People like Rihyarda, her guardians, and even Anastasius(!) are all very helpful. It was heartwarming to read Rozemyne gaining people that help her.

I'd like to point out the teacher-disciple similarities going on in this book too. It was entertaining to see Hirschur acting in all the ways Ferdinand may act when it comes to research and Rozemyne acting in all the ways Ferdinand may act when she's as engrossed to books as he is to his research. I just think the parallels there are nice to see.

The Rozemyne of this book sounds very mature. It's like she grew even through the years she had slept. Unlike in the previous books where she sounds and acts like a kid matching her age (as can be somehow seen in her impulsive tendencies and internal monologues), in the book, I somehow get the feel that she has grown and matured. She handles conversations with powerful people well, though admittedly, she's still impulsive as ever.

The Epilogue chapters are all such nice reads too. Notably, the rose-tinted lens Anastasius has on was so apparent in his POV chapter. He was so SO in love, it was quite amusing to see.

The illustrations are all very satisfying. It is nice to see new characters. And oh dear, it was a treat to see such handsome new characters. I received them all well! Haha

This book was a delight to read. Now on to the next!

At last, the library is within reach! And with that at hand, Rozemyne promptly forgets everything else. And somehow manages to get herself in the middle of all sorts of trouble again, as her mastery of the two magical library tools Schwartz and Weiss has provoked other duchies into standing up against her . . .

It's really funny how much Rozemyne is starting to resemble Ferdinand, despite all her protests to the contrary. The way she's actively channeling him in the ditter game was hilarious. And really, when they finally meet face-to-face at the end so she can report on what she's been doing, it's everything I hoped for and more.

Equally funny is Rozemyne's ongoing relationship with Prince Anastasius, where she somehow manages to do almost everything wrong, yet the WAY she's messing things up means she keeps seeing MORE of him, not less. I do think it's a really good thing the prince has at least one person willing to talk to him straight, even if the poor guy feels so badly for her blunders that he breaks the social rules himself to tell her just how much she's out of bounds.

Because Rozemyne's true problem is that she takes people as people, and only tries to remember the noble stuff on top of that. So she's trying to help, in her own way, and manages to do more than anyone could have dreamed (by the end she's pretty much on the altering-national-politics scale, which is an amusing accomplishment considering she was just trying to make two people happy).

Overall this series is just consistently fantastic. I rate this book Highly Recommended.

As consistently good as the first bit of Part 4 (which I had read via manga).
So thankfully the switch to light novel hasn't reduced my enjoyment despite manga being my favourite form for the series.

Since it's a pretty clear continuation of the previous entry, I won't be going into much detail - rather, here's some dot points of things I loved:
-The Treasure-Stealing Ditter game
-Traugott's reveal & ordeal
-Details of Elvira's published books with a certain man serving as inspiration - Get it, girl!
-The surprising developments with Prince Anastasius & Rozemyne. I thought that'd go in a very different and difficult path, but I'm actually more entertained by the connection & results from how their dynamic has turned out, as well as with Eglantine
-Rozemyne's guardians trying to contain themselves from all shit she's somehow already stirred up at the academy (hilarious dynamic as always)
-Rozemyne bringing out Ferdinand's passion & letting him have fun with it a bit regarding the magic tools/clothes for the library schumils.

My only small critique is I'm struggling to differentiate between Brunhilde, Lenore & Judithe at time. Only by the end could I remember that Brunhilde is the trendy one, Lenore is the calm knight & Judithe is the one who has that accurate aim in the ditter game. But during half the book & the previous entry, I was constantly confusing them for each other becauss they look relatively similar in the manga (hair colour aside cause I was reading in black & white ofc) & their dialogue isn't distinct enough in the light novel. But maybe that'll fade away as I get to know them more.

This school arc is the best!

Been loving the academy arc! Pretty much any scene with the prince had me laughing, as well as Sylvester reactions to the reoorts. I really liked Rozemynes new retainers. It would be really hard to pick a favorite.

So looking forward to the next book!!!

I like how everyone sees Rozemyne as a walking disaster. Some people view her as a saint others as weird. I do enjoy how she seeks a peaceful resolution instead of a violent one.

This book was amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Rozemyne, as always, is hilarious to read about. It amazes me that she is so smart and yet so bad at thinking things through. Her passion for books really does block out anything else… Her shrinking connection with the people from her commoner life is heartbreaking. I’m sad that Lutz and Myne’s family have not had the opportunity to show up much, but seeing how it impacts Rozemyne will be interesting. And the short story from Benno’s perspective only made it more sad. Lutz has been slowly shut out of Rozemyne’s life as the series goes on, a stark contrast to his closeness with Myne in the first and second parts.
Rozemyne has been my favorite character this whole series, but Leonore might just steal that spot from her. I hope to see her growing intellect shine in the next few books. I find it funny that she is one of the only apprentice knights who value strategy just as much as physical strength. I look forward to seeing her help the other apprentice knights grow from the sound defeat they will likely experience at the hands of Dunkelfelger in their ditter rematch.
Traugott was the only one of Rozemyne’s retainers who didn’t seem to have much of a personality in the previous book. But that was remedied in this book. He’s shown to be aggressive and rude during the treasure-stealing ditter game. And we later find out that he’s been badmouthing Rozemyne behind her back, having the stupidest motivation for wanting to serve her: learn her mana compression method and gain Bonifatius’s attention. And poor Cornelius has to deal with this guy as a relative (cousin? brother? I don’t even know at this point). Rozemyne’s expert handling of the situation was awesome.
The relationships between the characters in this series are part of what makes this series so interesting (other than the world building). The close sibling relationship Rozemyne has with Cornelius is great. The camaraderie between Rozemyne’s retainers (other than Traugott, because no one likes Traugott) is cool to read about.
And also, shout out to You Shiina for the illustrations and cover art. Her art is beautiful and I love how unique all her character designs are. Each and every character in each and every book is so beautiful.

She finished her classes and ace it all. She had all the time in the library but though she had a lot of things to be settled which is going on to tea parties that she is invited to and also the best time for measuring the shumils however, after measuring the shumils, there were people from other fraction is not happy that she gets to control them and also she is not fit to be. So, because of that to prove that she has what it takes to be the shumils' master, her fraction have to duel with duchy Dunkelfelger into a game of treasure ditter. And of course before the duel occur, she come out with a plan and also research about how exactly to win and also how to take care of their treasure.

And other than that, she is also caught the Prince's attention. Though at first they don't really see eye to eye at first but because his love interest is getting along with her, he asked her for her help to win his love interest heart. And she did help him and even kind of confronted him to tell his love interest on how he feels exactly and also listen to her about how she feels too. Oh and that's that can't spoil too much, and because the way that she settle things made her get into trouble, oh wells, she is not raised as a noble after all, she is still learning and trying her best to be a noble.

And of course, like teacher like student. Ferdinand is similar to Rozemyne when they are into the things they love, they will be into their stuff and forgot to eat which also made their retainers worried about their health. Haha... and them telling each other off is just so funny haha...

Can't spoil too much. Can't wait to read the next book.

The interactions between the characters and the world building are interesting as ever. I feel the story can change at any moment and it is nerve wracking, but in a good way. Will Myne become royalty, the queen, the archduke of Ehrenfest, or a powerful noble even stronger in influence that the king? Wil Ehrenfest become so powerful that even Arhensbach will tremble before it? Will she be in danger again because of envious duchies that wish to remain in power? What will happen with lady Veronica and Georgine? Will Wilfried become a pawn of Georgine and her daughter? There are so many questions and everytime one is answered, another takes its place.

As the author said, I love how when the retainers express their opinions when their charge is not in presence. It makes the story feel alive. Seeing Lutz and Myne be sad because of the inescapale gradually separation due to the business with other duchies that is to come made me sad as well. Watching one best friend and everything you love change and disapear must be tough.
I just hope to see Myne grow and I don't know how much more years will that take for me to read. Every 2 months I feel complete bliss when the volume reaches my hands before the longing for the next volume comes anew.

This one is less interesting to me. There's so much about the Royal Academy. Rozemyne excels at the testing of material for classes, and urges/bribes her fellow Ehrenfest dorm members to also hurry and pass. Everyone seems to be focused on the next term which is apparently all about socializing and not academics. Since the nobles all seem to use euphemisms, it's hard for Rozemyne to navigate. It's harder for the reader who is getting most of their information through her filter. Maybe it's what medieval politics was truly like - trying to figure out who meant what really. There's also lots of hints at other people's motivations. The children seem to vary between typical tweens and people with very long term goals. I liked the volumes where things were being invented and created far more.

Part 1 2 of this series is good but after part 3 vol 3 I feel like the story focus too much on everything else beside ‘book’. The story stop being about interesting stuff like book making and relationship between characters and shift to politic (and the politic part is so bad I stop reading. The ‘Mana compression method’ is too simple/stupid but have too much impact.)
There is also some flaw that I previously ignore such as the magic contract being inconsistent and too loose.
In my opinion it would be better if the MC die and the story end at the assassination arc.

I wanted this volume to be more eventful than the previous one, but I guess it is ok in general since the groundwork for what’s to come is being lay here.

From the retainers incident, Hartmut looks exactly like I imagined, in spite of not been given a description of his appearance (that I can remember) and he behaved like I expected from someone with his looks(😅😬). So he is the type of character that gives me trust issues, and I don’t believe he is going to betray Rozemyne, it’s just that he has his on agenda.

We finally get back to the lower city and I realize the other part was better. Mostly because I like the characters more than the plot. And the lower city seems all plot. Again this book had parts that were hard to put down. In this case it was the measuring and the game. Some of the new characters are really starting to gain depth. And yet this volume felt just a little thinner than the previous one. 3.5 of 5.

This was a very fun volume. It was chaotic in all the best ways and made Rosemyne's lack of knowledge about properly navigating noble society abundantly clear. It also featured the library bunnies, had multiple fun tea parties, and expanded on national politics (i.e., the conflict between the princes). 4.5 stars.
