Book two in the Politico Series focuses on Sasha, deputy attorney general for the state of Oregon as she works on facing her past and deciding her future. For the majority of her life, Sasha has kept people at arms length, never letting anyone in. When a chance encounter with a beautiful woman and a work opportunity fall into her lap much sooner than she expected, can she work through the trauma of her past and finally let love in?
I'll never understand how a parent can turn their back on their own child for being who they truly are.
Whilst, Sasha and June get their happy ending... I can't say the same thing happened for Sasha and her folks. It wasn't a cookie cutter story where everyone forgives and forgets, but I think sometimes we need the hard truth… even in fiction.

What a rollercoaster of emotions. We get to see Sasha's journey on this book and we get introduce to June. They met by accident at a rally and June has a bad impression of Sasha, but thanks to wonderful Layla that impression doesn't last.
I loved Sasha's story because it is so raw when we finally get a glimpse of what made her the way she is and I was pretty proud of her for going back home, but man that mother of hers.
Not a lot of angst, I think it's a great book and apparently not the end of the series, which I am excited for it.
This follow up in the politico series was a great wat to connect w/ Sasha Gibson the sexy Deputy Attorney General & her story. And what a story it was. Heart clenching as it was- I was rooting for Sasha to not only win in her career but in her personal life. But for me the biggest star of the book was June! What a GEM! She was sexy, funny, cool, laid back and sooo supportive of Sasha. We all need a June in our lives. And even though I was tearing up at the end, the best part of this book is the humor and Banter in the friendship group. I really appreciated the language, style of speaking and even pop cultural references understood within communities of color. It’s so refreshing to see an author center women of color on a book- the way we love, the political & personal battles we fight and win.
Sasha is the Deputy Attorney General for the State of Oregon and is fully engaged in the fight for justice for all people. While on her way to argue a case she’s confronted by a beautiful bad ass black woman. June and she quickly move to a wonderful relationship. Haunted by her past Sasha much return to Georgia to deal with her family’s rejection. Will Sasha and June be able to survive the ghosts of the past and find the music and joy in their souls. Great series and author.
All is not necessarily fair in politics and love. Being a politician I can agree This is story of bigoted parents and how you need to get over it and be true to yourself. Also how to totally foul up a relationship while trying to deal with your family. You have be true to yourself and take a risk for love...
