Outrageously raunchy, with graphic set-pieces ranging from flashback Parisian lesbian introductions with writhing Vietnamese housemaids to leather-clad strap-on orgies with quasi-mystical Russians-- and plenty in-between . . .
The plot is pure soap-opera, so much so that it proves almost a distraction (I was SURE that dead husband was actually gonna turn up alive!) but then, that's not what the book's here for.
You could say the book is intelligently done, which indeed it is, because the scenarios are wildly inventive and very craftily delivered. But it's not the kind of book that wears its intelligent on its sleeve. In other words: don't expect the kind of psychological intricacy that makes a lot of Black Lace novels so riveting. This isn't one about the gradual abolition of inhibitions; it's like flipping a switch, and so at the end our goody-goody heroine goes very very bad very very quickly. What she does is hot, sure, but there's not much "transformation", for those into that kind of thing!
