Izzy Sage is a woman on a mission. She’s determined to find the creatures wearing her parents’ faces … and end them. Unfortunately, the trouble bubbling up on Belle Isle has to take precedence, especially when violence lands in her backyard.
A prison van is involved in a wreck in downtown Detroit, allowing fifty high-risk inmates to escape. Several of them make a beeline straight for the island – there are boats to steal for escape after all – and Izzy manages to take them out without much trouble. That’s only the start, however.
The revenant threat, which was being stifled, is expanding again. The prisoners make an effective delivery system, and they’re taking over the area. Izzy and the Grimlocks are hard at work to see that they don’t get a foothold, but an impulsive decision puts one of their number at risk.
The dark underbelly of the reaper world is bubbling to the surface. Revenants want to cross over, and they’re willing to kill to do it. Only Izzy and those she loves most stand in the way.
Magic does funny things to people, and Izzy is about to have her eyes opened by a situation she never saw coming. Detroit – and the young witch she’s befriended – are more than they seem, and danger is afoot.
The ultimate battle is coming. It’s up to Izzy to make sure her side wins.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

I love the characters in this series, because I loved the Aisling Grimlock series, and there’s so much overlap.

awesome supernatural cozy mystery series

This is an awesome supernatural cozy mystery series. And it sure nearly cast of characters and an extraordinarily entertaining storyline. This series is based on a group of Grim Reaper‘s in the district region of Detroit in the surrounding areas. It focuses mainly on the crew that guards the death gate on Belle Isle a suburb of the Detroit area and the Grimlock family who are a family of reapers attached to the Detroit office. The patriarch of the family is a senior member of the reaper Council in Detroit. They fight against evil race and Reminence who attack humans and cause Mayham on both sides of the gate. Along with Maine person in charge of the gate is he sage who is a part reaper part which in part Bruja from New Orleans. There’s a lot of magic a lot of action and a whole bunch of Snark going on especially around the Grimlock‘s. This Siri started out as the Grimlock series and expanded into the world of the death gate series. It is extraordinary beyond belief and will keep you coming back for more every time. Check it out

I thoroughly enjoy all things Grimlock and the Death Gate Reapers series with Izzy Sage is a welcome addition to the saga. The cast of characters is getting bigger with each book, opening up new avenues to explore and expand on. There have been stories linking into other series; all of which I have or am reading, which gives an opportunity to reacquaint with other favourite characters. My only disappointment is the amount of analysis of feelings that seems to be on the increase in all these books. I find that for me, this in depth analysis detracts from the main story and sometimes I feel that the story arc has been lost within a mushy pool of emotion. Perhaps this is a cultural issue i.e. American v British, or perhaps it is because I personally do not subscribe to the 'fluffy bunny brigade', preferring action to continuous personal angst. I would like to see more focus on the storyline, magic, action and continuance of the 'snark', with less psychoanalysis and please sort out the Revenants!

Still elusive endgame.

I’m enjoying the heck out of this series, and these characters. The Grimlock family are a hoot and a half, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t find them rather irritating or frustrating at times. Cormack had a moment or two when I wanted to whomp him on the head, but even though they argue and bicker, they are one of the most loyal and loving families out there.

Izzy makes a couple of mistakes in this story that come back to bite her in the butt (re: Cormack losing his cool), and we are getting ever closer to the end but the big picture endgame has not yet been revealed. Which is kind of frustrating when you’re seven books into a series. Still, a lot more is unearthed and I’m hoping that Izzy gets a new power upgrade, cause she’s gonna need it.

An attack and a rescue..

As Izzy and the Grimlocks wait for more information about the revenant problem a problem with some escaped prisoners distracts Izzy.

A bus load of the most dangerous criminals was involved in an accident which lead to them all escaping. When a few turn up on the island and attack one of the staff Izzy cleans up and saves her staff member. But a worried Griffin, who's dealing with the incident, warns her to be very careful as there's likely to be more heading to obscure spots like the island.

She's not surprised to find another group trying to steal a yacht but when she gets ready to unleash her powers to stop them she's assaulted magically by a fourth escapee who puts her to sleep with a warning.

Braden decides to move her into the Grimlocks mansion but while clearing out her flat a strange book surfaces. Written in a multitude of languages it takes a battered Luna, who's been attacked by revenant prisoners, to help them translate the tome.

Needing advice from Cernunous Izzy heads with Luna against Cormack's advice through the gate. The pair rescue Cernunous but Luna is left behind.

Now Izzy needs to save Luna and work out what the revenants are up to, find out more about the mysterious prisoner who put her to sleep and try to stop their latest plans.

Great story

This series gets better the longer it goes on. Izzy wasn't my favorite character starting out but I enjoyed the snarky Grimlocks so much that I was willing to put up with her in this companion series. I have to admit she's grown on me to the point where I cheer for her as much as any if the others. The only problem that I had with this particular book was that characters tended to get lost in scenes where there was a lot going on. For instance, a certain character would have an important role at the beginning of a scene but by the end they wouldn't be mentioned at all, which left me wondering what happened to them. Other than that, there is a lot of action and the storyline moves forward so I'm looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.

Blasted Past

What a wild ride of a story! Prolific author Amanda M. Lee revs up the action but is never over the top in the battle scenes. Izzy finds herself caught up in trouble when a busload of maximum security prisoners being transferred to another prison overturns in Detroit. Some of them make it to Belle Isle but Izzy doesn't let them make it off. Others have been taken over by revenants. But one possibly innocent mysterious prisoner, Jacob, is on Izzy & the Grimlocks' side. The reappearance of traitorous Renley & the revenants that took over the bodies of Izzy's parents ups the ante for everyone including witch Luna. Some of her backstory is revealed as she, along with the Grimlocks, Izzy & her grandfather fight to keep the revenants out of our world.

Awesome!

Oh my, I could hardly put this down! It was one of the best and I read all of Lee's series. I was fairly upset when the Grimlock series ended but I love their interaction with the character of Izzy. I am glad to have Henry's character on board but I miss Aunt Maxine. I also liked the killing off of at least one of the bad guys. I look forward to the next book! I would highly recommend this to anyone but I also recommend starting with the first book in the series, it's necessary in my opinion to fully enjoy and understand the interaction of all the characters. In fact if you want a good series to read start with the Grimlock series which plays into this series! Enjoy!!

Yes and No

This one was a nice cumulative story, although there are still multiple loose ends dangling. I do confess I’m getting a little tired of the revenants. No sooner do we get rid of one head than another appears. It reminds me of EE Smiths Lensman series. Every time the Lensman thought a threat was destroyed, it turned out the supposed leader was really just a lackey. Smith ended up painting the series into a corner with 5 super beings and no hope of a happy ever after ending because his super beings had no equals. I really hope that doesn’t happen here.

Favorite Death Gate book yet

I really loved this book. Every aspect. I just thought I liked Luna before, but I really like her and her friends. She's amazing. I love Izzy and glad things are going the way they are. With her magic, family acceptance, etc. This is a series where I like every character. The more I read, the more I like them. I have always liked this series, but this book tipped it over to more. Everyone needs a Cormick in their lives.
Highly recommend series. Best read in order.

Wonderful Series filled with Laughter and Great Plots

A most enjoyable and imaginative series that does not imitate other writers at all. Book 1 is a bit frustrating but by book 2 the conversations sometimes had me laughing so hard I had tears. Wonderful characters with virtues and flaws, really imaginative plotting and of course magic everywhere.

There are a couple glitches where a few scenes in later books (cloaking with invisibility) contradict scenes in earlier books but it’s forgivable, I also think Aunt Maxine should have played a bigger role.

Death Gate series

I love this series as it combines new characters with the old characters from the Aisling Grimlock series. It has just the right amount of snark and every book is read on the day it’s published. I curl up with my dogs and a coffee and enjoy the mystical journey Amanda M Lee takes me on.

I’d highly recommend all her novels and also those she writes under the name of Lily Harper Hart. It took me a while to realise they were same author and I nearly sent her a message saying some other author was copying her style of writing and turn of phrase!

Simple and to the point

I enjoyed the brevity of this story. I noticed in previous books, and this one, how the author mentions events or gatherings (watching a movie or going to the gym) as a memory but in none of the 7 books I've read does she ever actually give time for those events. Lol... in any case, it doesn't take away from the story, just an observation. In this book, Izzy's parents are becoming my favorite ghosts. I wonder if their part grows in future books. On to the next book...

love this series!

Amanda Lee is a very eclectic writer. I love all her books that take me far from reality especially when there’s a bunch in a row. When characters from different books come together like what this series offers- I find myself not being able to put the story down. I love Izzy n her entourage but Luna is priceless! Added bonus-all Amanda’s books are offered in kindle unlimited! Thanks Amanda can’t wait to see what’s next! Please don’t let it come to an end! Let’s keep it going until baby Lily starts her adventures!

Keeps getting better!

I adore this series. I love them all, but this one is just...wonderful. Seeing the Grimlocks from an outside perspective just cements in my brain what a wonderful family they truly are. We learn more about Luna, and the reapers origins. We see Cormack in all his righteous anger and fatherly love. And of course we see baby Lily. She's adorable. No spoilers, but the ending is fabulous.

How to tell the book you’re reading is great….

You can tell a book is excellent if you resent having to sleep while you’re reading it, you practically speed read just so you can see what happens next, you get mad when you’re done reading it and sooo very frustrated that you have to wait to get your hands on the next installment. This one checks all those boxes and then some. AML is awesome!

Amazing series

I love the Grimlocks and Izzy. The story line is so gripping. The lov2e they share is amazing. Izzy and Braden are so good for each other. Everything Amanda M Lee writes is spectacular. I love reading her stories. I can't wait for the next book in this series and I hope there are many more. This family has much to write about. It's time for Redmond to get some love too. I look forward to a proposal. It will be epic.

Joining Forces

This just gets more and more interesting as each main character is more fully developed, and the storyline becomes more and more complex. Both Lilies are just fascinating, and I feel like I’m falling in love with the whole, unwieldy, extended family. I keep moving the characters around in my mind, having fun trying to predict what will happen and with whom. And there have been tantalizing hints of characters from the other series. I am so excited to read more.

Great read

I totally enjoyed this book from beginning to end! However, there are a few things I am an not liking. First Braden has become a whimp. He is so far in Izzy's shadow he gets list. Also Izzy is supposedly foreclose to her Brujo grandfather that just reads book tucked away as another shadow. Carmack is also a tad annoying throwing his money around. But I do love this series.

Criminals or Something Worse?

2 men with guns show up at the aquarium. Izzy takes them out then find out there were 50 maximum security convicts on bus that crashed in Detroit.

Dealing with the aftermath of that, revnants galore, a god, and the other side make for an interesting story with a healthy dose of snark on the side.

Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Izzy & the Grrimlocks!

I love this series that is based in Detroit. Izzy is a brujha that manages the Death Gate on Belle Island. There are also witches, vampires, shifters and other creatures. The plot and subplots move quickly and the conversations flow naturally. The humor keeps the book from getting too intense. I can't wait to see the next book!

Full of surprises

Amazing, as always, and with a bunch of new characters. Luna is definitely more than she appears to be and that’s a new mystery waiting to be solved….more fun. I’m still hoping she’ll be Redmond’s love interest, because she is a lot of fun to have around. Can’t wait for the next one!

It just keeps getting better

Only the Guilty is making way for a huge finale! Izzy and the Grimlocks will need all the power and information they can find to beat this new threat. Will they be able to overcome and finally have peace and a complete family? It's definitely going to keep you on the edge if your west until the final page is turned.

A Fantastic Page Turner

Izzy and the Grimlocks are hilarious. This one had Luna and it was so action packed I could not put it down. Cormack cracks me up with the meals he plans as bribes for his kids and everyone whom he determines are members of his family. I love family unity and all the squabbles that go along with. This series is fun.

The battle ground is set and the action unfolds. This is an action packed book with magical creatures squaring off against magical monsters. Lots of snark, which I love, and it's a very entertaining book. I really enjoy Amanda M. Lee's books. If you like reading paranormal stories and enjoy a good laugh, then I recommend this book.

A Treasure

Amanda M Lee (and, of course, Lily Harper Hart) are my dragon's gold. I hoard the new releases like a treasure for those days when I need help making it through...and she never fails to deliver.

This book is another wonderful addition to the world of Reapers...with a new surprise ally showing up in unexpected places.

Growth.

Not only did we get to see the growth of Luna and her importance, but we got to see love grow between so many characters. Izzy and Braden worked so well together it was hard not to physically feel their strength together. I must say this was probably my favorite book of this series.

Supernatural thriller

Izzy and the Grimlocks are still in the battle with the revenants, who seem to be focusing on Izzy until a sudden attack is made on Luna. Izzy and Luna go on the offense but their plans have consequences. The Grimlocks finally meet Luna's family and face off again in battle with the revenants.
