Fans of the The Gifting series have long been asking for more and award-winning author K.E. Ganshert has delivered! Experience the intrigue, the romance, and the chilling world of The Gifting, where the mentally unstable are locked away and belief in the supernatural has been eradicated. This time, from Luka’s point of view with never-before-seen content!
17-year-old Luka Williams has a secret. He sees things nobody else can see, feels things nobody else can feel, and dreams about the same girl every night. A girl in danger. A girl he must save. A girl who doesn’t exist.
Until one day, she does. Her family moves in next door—upending his world. Calling into question everything he thought he knew. Maybe he’s not crazy after all. Maybe the things he sees are as real as the girl from his dreams.
K.E. Ganshert writes romantic speculative fiction filled with high stakes, big emotions, and exciting twists. Her stories feature heroines with gifts they don’t fully understand, emotionally guarded heroes who fall hard for the girl, and dangerous worlds that aren't quite what they seem. Perfect for readers who want to escape into supernatural, dystopian, or fantasy tales—where the romance runs deep, but never explicit.

Oh my stars!!! Luka was everything I was hoping it would be. I fell in love with The Gifting Series and devoured them, added them to my reread shelf, and pull them out periodically to fall in love all over gain. When I heard Ms. Ganshert was writing the first book from Luka's pov I was all in. I binged Luka in one sitting and my only regret is not reading slower. I NEED the other two books (from original gifting series) told in his pov too! If you loved The Gifting you HAVE to buy Luka. Now for me to get it in paperback for my keeper shelf.
It was good to finally get Luka's POV, but some of it was lost on me because it was been a long time since I read the original books in The Gifting Series. I liked it but some of the excitement that I found in the original books was lacking.
I love the Gifting Series and was thrilled to see this companion novel. Seeing through Luka's eyes makes things in the Gifting make more sense. I really hope the author will write the companions for the other two in the series.
I loved the Gifting series - and was glad to see this book. However, I wish I could have read it after Book 1 or just before, to see Luka and Tess's versions side by side. Since this book also ended more or less the same time as Book 1.
But I did Luka grow into his own ability and helping Tess as well.
I loved Luka in the series and enjoyed spending time with him again.
Well..I wanted to love this book. I was really hoping it would make me fall in love with the lead male character. It didn't do that for me. I did im eat the other books up though.
If you read The Gifting Series and loved it, you’ll enjoy this companion novel from Luka’s perspective. Although written for a younger audience, as a fifty-something grandmother, I love this story and highly recommend it!
The writing is snappy and draws you into the characters’ lives and makes you care about what happens to them. There is just enough mystery about what’s going on to carry you to the next page and chapter. Once you start reading it, you’ll want to keep on until you finish the last page.
My heart is so happy right now! If you love dystopian fiction with supernatural elements, you have to read “The Gifting” series and this new addition of “Luka” is pure awesomeness. I loved his viewpoint, his intensity and seeing his personality shine. So many answers come to light in seeing Tessa through his eyes that you just won’t want to stop reading. It kept me up way too late. Then, I had to dive right in first thing when I awakened!
Ganshert listened to her fans and sucked us right back into the trilogy of “The Gifting” with this companion novel. The dynamic couple of Luka and Tessa will stay with you for a long time and now Luka shines even better through his own story. I’m looking forward to more from him and what happens next.
Seriously, Luka and Tessa need their own movie! I loved this series even better than The Hunger Games and Divergent. Luka will have you hoping for your own gifting, too.
Delightful! I've never read a dual-perspective book before. It was kind of funny to imagine the author just copying and pasting all of the dialogue, but it was also really interesting to get more insight into Luka's motives throughout the conversations vs. just Tess's. I, who have a hard time imagining people's motives, really appreciated that.
I will say that I reread/skimmed The Gifting just prior to reading this so that it would be fresh in my memory. It made it easier for me to chuckle inside because I could remember what Tess thought about a situation while reading about what Luka thought.
I read the original Gifting series when it first came out, so was eager to read this new addition. If you've read the original 3 books, this one doesn't add a lot of new material to book 1. It does give you Luka's perspective on all that happens, and a bit more of his background, but this book and The Gifting are practically identical. I ended up reading a couple chapters in Luka, and would switch over to the parallel chapters in The Gifting. So, it's up to you - if you've read the original 3 books, you may enjoy this one, but it's not really necessary.
I read the first three books of this series a few years ago, but always wanted more and KE Ganshert finally wrote one. I loved reading this from Luka's point of view. It added so much to the story. Luka and Tess go through so much, it leaves you breathless. If you love books dealing with things that are unnatural, supernatural, good vs. evil, YA novels, and a bit of romance, then you'll love this! This book flowed with action like in a movie. Actually, I think it should be made into a movie. I highly recommend you pick this book up!
AMAZING. Everything I could've wanted from another installation to this series that captured my heart when I was the ripe age of 12. 7 Years later and the amount of times I've read this series is still unhealthy, and I couldn't be happier about a FOURTH book. This series is wonderful and relatable and wholesome and has such brilliant themes and elements that it's addictive - I will always come back for a reread - probably till the day I die. Kinda wished I hadn't read this entire book in one sitting but that's my fault!
Completed all 4 books. I am always a bit disappointed when there is a companion book like this and it is not the whole series but one part. I want to know all of Luka's feelings, among other things I dare not spoil. Overall it is an interesting series that kept me captivated and wanting to know what's next. I feel like the whole thing ended a bit abruptly, but I also love battles and it could just be I wanted more. I do have a few unanswered questions. It is one of those books that leaves you thinking...
I will read anything that Katie Ganshert writes! She has Detailed imagination to create a great story and ability to tie it all together. Her writing keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. She has the ability to pull you right into the middle of the story with how detailed and descriptive she writes. I loved the gifting trilogy so much and always hoped that we readers could have a pint of view from Luka. A true gift to us who loved reading about Luka and Tess!
I LOVE this series and ABSOLUTELY LOVE Lukas perspective. Please please please write the companion novels for the rest of the series I'm not ready to be done with this series yet. And then when your done writing those you should do one from the other character perspectives like Captain or Link. The opportunities are endless with this brilliant series. I recommend this to anyone wanting to read a good series whatever age you are!
I was so excited when Ganshert announced she was doing The Gifting from Luka’s POV, as I really enjoyed the original series and thought seeing the same events through his eyes would be interesting. Sure enough, it was. It’s been a while since I read the series so I forgot a lot of what happened and it’s significance, but it was still a good read, and I really hope Ganshert does the other two books from his POV as well.
I plowed through the original series earlier this year and was so excited to hear that we'd get to see the story from Luka's perspective. This one is fun read, like they all are. I'd recommend all of them if you like dystopian stories with thought-provoking themes. I hope we get the whole series now!
Luka great book. I want to read more about his feelings and his unmoving desire to keep Tess safe.
The Gifting series really has an unusual story line and is enjoyable to read. So many books you know how its going to end by the end of the first chapter. After reading Luka, I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I hope it will be soon. Thanks for the great read.
I really liked hearing Luka’s point of view of what he thought when he saw Tess for the first time and realizing this girl in his head is real! A very good read and I thoroughly enjoyed a different viewpoint. I had read the trilogy of the Gifting and I liked them allot. Very intriguing! Gets you to thinking about all you hear and see.
Love this latest installment in an amazing series! Can’t wait for the next! Great world building and characters you want to be friends with! The good ones, anyway. Evil characters you love to hate!
I really liked this whole The Gifting series. Luka, in particular, was good in that it tells the story from a totally different perspective. I wish the series could go on.
This was great but should have been book three. Even though it rehashed the last book, it was just as exciting, real, and interesting. I am almost tempted to reread book three, but will wait awhile.
Omg! I have been waiting for this book ever since I heard K.E. Ganshert was writing it!! It was amazing. I was so glad to hear from Luka’s point a view! I definitely hope the author writes his point of view for the other books! I really recommend this series!! 💜
The entire time I read through The Gifting series, I remember thinking how I wished it was a dual POV with Luka. This did not disappoint. I need more!!! The whole series in his POV!
It was nice to spend some time in Luka's head, bit I really wish we would have gotten some excerpts from books two and three instead of a straight ride through the first one.
