Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ Little Black Book #1
Publication date ~ January 25, 2022
Est Page Count ~ 190
POV ~ dual 3rd
Featuring ~ ex-step-siblings, scandal, steamage, cliffhanger

Have I been missing out on this delightful author all these years!? Thank you Booksprout for introducing me to an author I am going to want to read again and again, and not just because this book left me on a cliffhanger and I kinda have to 😁

Chloe - self-assured, bad ass celebrity publicist.
Parker, Parker, Parker - he's everything I want in a sports agent that's a cocky, arrogant playboy. Even though Parker is the perfect playboy name, is that really who he is deep down inside?

They are soon to be ex-step siblings due to the short marriage of his father to her mother when they meet. Soon, Parker needs Chloe's expertise when his client is caught in a scandal. The chemistry between them is undeniable from the start and luckily we don't have to wait too long to get some sizzling action.

Overall, this is very well written with some great steamy scenes and a good mystery that we'll have to wait until the trilogy is over to see how it all plays out. I look forward to reading the next books that will not only follow Chloe's bff's, Taylor and Alexandra, but more secrets from the Little Black Book.

Side bar - I like my book covers to come close to matching the descriptions I get of the characters and this one falls short. Chloe has red hair, but the cover shows a blond.

*Thanks to Karen Booth and Booksprout for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

A great afternoon escape, get caught up in book one of this trilogy. This is a unique premise as we are introduced to the little back book gossip group. Chloe is a badass, a fixer, and confident she can correct the biggest of celebrity mistakes.

Parker is the playboy, he is off limits, her client, a sports agent, and they have been outed by LBB.
Both are not looking for love, parents, not had the best role models, as they have been witness to multiple marriages by their respective parents.

I enjoyed this quick read of part one, not many clues to who is LBB, but we have two more books. The drama is high, banter is witty, and lots of dirty laundry is aired.

Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Parker met Chloe when the marriage between his father and her mother came to an end, and they were both there acting as intermediaries to finalize which items her mother was to take verses the items that belonged to his father. When one of his clients need her professional services, he never expected the biggest challenge would be denying his attraction to her.

Chloe is very good at repairing the images of public figures and the same holds true for Parker’s client. She knows that it is in both their interests to deny the chemistry between them but that is easier said than done and that is when the complications really begin.

Neither Chloe nor Parker were looking for love or a relationship however they soon realize that some things are worth fighting for and that includes their relationship. I am looking forward to the other stories in this series.

It won't take you long to get caught up in Chloe and Parker forbidden romance. She's his publicist and he's her off limits client. He's been targeted by 'the Little Black Book Gossip Group'. He's a playboy and she doesn't mix business with pleasure. But there's something about him that's unresistable. This is a series of three books that features three New York friends who get caught up in the Little Black Book saga. A fun read that full of drama and banter that will keep you laughing. The chemistry between Chloe and Parker will set your kindle on fire. Great characters and a sizzling story line. i read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is the story of Chloe and Parker who meet under difficult circumstances as the marriage between her mother and his father has failed. They have immediate attraction between them but Parker does not view Chloe as a true PR expert until his client gets into trouble when the little black book becomes known to the public. The book has great characters, an interesting storyline, fun banter, and steamy romance.

The Problem with Playboys begins the Little Black Book of Secrets trilogy with a sizzling story with touches of suspense woven into the main love story, an arc that will continue throughout the series – and is my curiosity ever heightened to know who Little Black Book of Secrets is, and why in the world are they doing this? That answer won’t come until the final book, but that background story is woven throughout and kept my attention on this series.

Parker is a sports agent whose client has had a run-in with the vicious gossip account Little Black Book of Secrets. He needs to clear up misconceptions about his client and fast before his entire career in sports goes down the drain. The answer comes in the form of lovely, sexy Chloe who is an expert at dealing with media personality cleanups. The last thing Parker needed was to find himself attracted to the woman who he had to work so closely with in order to help his client. But best intentions… right?

We have a circle of three close friends who will have their lives crossed in one way or another by this vicious gossip account. There is a mystery in the background of the romance of trying to figure out why and who is behind this. In many ways, I enjoyed trying to understand the mystery almost as much as I loved Parker and Chloe together. Their banter, the insta-sizzle, and the problems that drew them closer were realistic in today’s world where everyone has a camera and access to social media platforms. Their push towards and pull away from each other throughout their romance was fun to watch, both are fighting a losing battle where their emotions are concerned yet it was an enjoyable situation to watch them handle. The secondary characters bring this story alive and some will find their way into future stories.

I had fun here. The Problem with Playboys is a solid romance full of all the elements that I enjoy most. Plus a mystery to solve, that was a bonus. I’ve read this entire trilogy now and would suggest trying to read them in order if at all possible. They could be stand-alone reads but the flow is so much smoother if you know what went on before, in my opinion. No matter how you read them the Little Black Book of Secrets trilogy is well worth the time to dive right into… you’ll enjoy yourself in this world, and isn’t that the whole point?

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Karen Booth is back with an addictive tale of sin, scandal and seduction: The Problem with Playboys.

Celebrity publicist Chloe Burnett does not believe in mixing business with pleasure. In her line of work, it is best to keep her heart firmly under lock and key and the boardroom and bedroom separate. But her iron-clad resolves prove to be no match for sports agent Parker Sullivan, who is in desperate need of her expertise. Chloe is determined to keep things strictly professional between her and Parker, but that proves to be easier said than done because the more time she spends with Parker, the more she finds herself unable to stop herself from falling in love with him!

When one of his clients is targeted by a vicious gossip account called Little Black Book, Parker finds himself needing a professional and who better to manage a crisis than publicist Chloe Burnett who rescues celebrities' careers on a daily basis. Parker is immediately impressed by Chloe's abilities at damage control - and by her other skills! When he finds himself accompanying Chloe to Miami, sparks immediately begin to fly between the two of them and temptation proves absolutely impossible to resist...

Chloe thought she was simply too good at her job to get caught up in a scandal - until she finds herself caught in the Little Black Book crosshairs! Ever since she met Parker, Chloe has been breaking all of her rules, but will taking a walk on the wild side with him finally lead her to her happy ever after? Or will her reluctance to let Parker in end up costing her everything?

Karen Booth's contemporary romances are always great fun and The Problem with Playboys is certainly no different. Karen Booth has once again delivered a red-hot sizzler sprinkled with heat and humor that I read in a single sitting. Parker and Chloe are terrific characters and their red-hot banter and explosive chemistry kept me turning the pages and engrossed till the very end.

Sparkling, sexy and sassy, contemporary romance fans will not want to miss Karen Booth's latest Harlequin Desire novel, The Problem with Playboys.

This book is the first in a trilogy featuring three friends as they navigate the jungle of adulthood. As if that isn't bad enough, a juice account named Little Black Book pops up that has no problem airing the dirty laundry of New York's finest in all its smutty glory. If that reminds you of Gossip Girl and Lady Whistledown of Bridgerton Fame, you'd be right. The identity of LBB won't be revealed until Book 3, and Book 1 has very little (significant) hints towards LBB. Could it be the person who ends up getting the 3rd story in the trilogy? Considering what happened to Chloe (more on that later) I'd highly doubt if it were one of Chloe's friends, either Taylor Hayes* (no, not the one from the Bold and the Beautiful) or Alexandra Gold but you never know. No one suspected the person who turned out to be Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton either.

Anyway, back to the story. Chloe needs to pick up her mom's last belongings from her soon-to-be ex-husband's house. Apparently, there has been a revolving door of ex-husband's in Chloe's mom's life, so there's a bit of a chip on Chloe's shoulder when it comes to love and relationships, and as a result she lives for her job, which is salvaging celebrities' reputations after they've been caught up in a scandal--she's very good at what she does.

Chloe (rightfully) never took her mom's latest marriage serious, so she's never met her soon-to-be ex-stepbrother, Parker, who's a hot-shot sports agents. But he's there when she picks up her mom's stuff and he's all sorts of hot, but Chloe knows that any involvement will end up hurting her mom so that it's never going to happen. Also, Parker's a bit of an ass to Chloe regarding her job. Speaking of @sses, Parker's disdain comes back to bite him in aforementioned asset spectacularly when one of his football clients who's just signed a big contract with a club in Miami, which is revealed by LBB. So tail between his legs, Parker ends up contacting Chloe, who takes a lot of pleasure in gloating but ends up helping them after all. Things heat up in Miami, but when LBB sends Chloe a grainy picture of her and Parker doing the dirty on a sunbed, Chloe retreats. But not for long until they meet again at a fundraiser.

I wasn't really sure how to rate this romance. It's well-written and I quite like the mystery of LBB but I'm not sure if I was really on-board with the romance. I think this is particularly suited to readers who don't like angsty romance, but I kind of do, so I figure that maybe this book isn't so much for me. The thing is, Chloe and Parker's motivation for not being together (their parents' disastrous marriage) is quickly resolved once they get together and from then on it's pretty much smooth sailing. There's a Black Moment but it's kinda forced by external circumstances and I dunno... It didn't wholly work for me. There's also a lot of focus on other characters, which is understandable since it's the first book in the series, but for such a short book, I would've preferred the author would have spent more time developing the two protagonists.

Another thing--after Chloe and Parker get caught in Miami by LBB they end up getting into some shenanigans again at the fundraiser. After they'd been caught in flagrante delicto in Miami before, you'd think they would be more careful. Too much passion between them? Maybe, but aren't those characters supposed to be smart? I always found it wholly unbelievable that a burst of passion would leave all common sense at the door, considering the fact that they've been caught before in a place that was way more private than the swanky fundraiser where they meet up again.

All in all, I thought this was quite a fun read and will definitely pick up the next two installments. My money for LBB is either on Forrest, Jessica or perhaps Alexandra's love interest in Book 3. Time will tell--however, I'm usually wrong when it comes to solving mysteries, lol :-)

* I see that in the blurb of the 2nd book Taylor's last name had been changed to Klein, so someone definitely caught on to this :-) But in the ARC-copy I received her last name was definitely Hayes. I used to watch so much B&B with my mom back in the day. Good times, lol.

Chloe first meets her step-brother Parker when she’s sent to his father’s house to pick up the last of her mother’s things as their parents finalize their divorce.

Chloe and Parker are both the children of serial monogamists who have more than a few marriages beneath their belts. As such, they’re both more than a little cynical about the whole institution of marriage and relationships in general. While Chloe buries herself in work and avoids personal entanglements, Parker became a serial dater known to work hard and play harder.

Despite their complicated connection and their general disinterest in relationships there is an undeniable attraction at first sight. After a scandal thrusts them together, they stop fighting and give into their attraction. What was supposed to be just one time to get it out of their systems became a fling they both deny will become more.

As a total cynic, I love watching two people fight their relationship tooth and nail until they get smacked in the face with their feelings. I love the sudden realization that this hookup is a real relationship. People getting beat with their reluctant feels melts my cold, cold heart.

The mystery plot of Little Black Book with their seemingly impossible knowledge and perfectly timed secret exposures was so well done. Over and over I thought I had figured out the secret behind the account only to be questioning it moments later. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book to find out more.

Great start to an exciting, steamy new 3-part series!!

I liked this story about a crisis PR manager and a sports agent, both children of multiply married parents, most recently to each other. Both young adults have been left scarred by the revolving door of stepparents and needing to clean up in the wake of their divorces. This leaves them very distrustful of love, relationships and commitment. How they grow past these issues was enlightening to read.

A social media account called #LittleBlackBook springs up, hinting at scandals that big, old family money, movers and shakers would rather keep well hidden. As Chloe and Parker try to continue careers and navigate the steamy relationship that is steadily growing between them, #LBB has put their names and faces, as well of those of their family, friends and clients in the crosshairs of a social media scandal.

The author did an excellent job of building the framework of the story. I think I can see the shape of the way the story will unfold, the HOW of the puzzle, but the details of WHO and WHY? Those questions are where all the fun and excitement will be.

I absolutely FLEW through this story. Now I don't know what I will do while waiting for the next book in the series. It can't be released soon enough for me. WHO is behind the #LittleBlackBook account?

A well-written steaming hot novel. 4.5*
This was the 6th book by Karen I read, so it is safe to say that I am fond of this author's work. Chloe and Parker’s story has a lot of momentum, intelligent dialogues, good character developments and descriptions. It is an easy-to-read, enjoyable novel with an undeniable magnetic attraction between the protagonists, who are both hardworking professionals. They meet through their parents and end up not only with a steamy hook-up but a forever love. Parallel to the development of their not quite smooth love story runs a threat by a social media troll, called “Little Black Book” threatening to make their lives very uncomfortable, exposing their private lives and of those they love. The easy, effortlessly good writing style, use of English and vocabulary make this book a very good read. My only observation is that although there is a HEA, a rather hurried one in my opinion, despite their efforts to uncover the identity of the “Little Black Book”, there was no effort to bring that tension point to a resolution. Maybe there is another book in the plans that I don’t know about, but I would have liked to have seen the “baddies” get their just punishment for their intimidation tactics.

Karen is an awesome writer, I love her writing style. Her characters literally jump off the page holding your interest to the last page and leave you wanting more.

Chloe Burnett is a celebrity publicist and Parker Sullivan is a sports agent and a known playboy. Chloe and Parker know each other because their parents were married briefly and they never met. When Chloe’s mom’s divorce is finally final she sends Chloe to her ex-husband home to retrieve her belongs which is much of nothing. While Chloe is picking up her mom’s belongings there is a little flirtatious banter going on between her and Parker of which they seem to be enjoying. The chemistry between the two is undeniable.

Parker thinks Chloe’s career isn’t exciting or workable until he is in need of her help. One of his clients has been targeted by scandal in the gossip world of the Little Black Book. Even though Chloe has no intentions of mixing business with pleasure all goes north when the two are spending more and more time together. There is an element of mystery when someone is releasing secrets about the wealthy and no one seems to know who is doing it. I so loved the interaction between Chloe’s best friends Alexandra and Taylor and I am looking forward to reading their books.

Sparks fly between Parker Sullivan and Chloe Burnett when the first meet but he rubs her the wrong way once he criticizes her work. When he ends up calling her and asking for her help with his newly signed client Chloe springs into action to salvage the client’s career. Spending time together in Miami leads to an unexpected night together but when Chloe receives a text of a picture of the two of them taken together from “The Little Black Book” she realizes she needs to stay away from Parker. She agrees to meet up with Parker at a Fundraiser event and they can’t keep their hands off each other. When “The Little Black Book” Sends another picture of them that gets publicized Chloe faces a number of issues involving her job, Parker, her Mom who just recently divorced Parker’s Dad. She tells Parker she can’t be with him because there are too many risks involved. After her Mom suffers a heart attack she has to worry about her Mother’s health in addition to everything else. Will Chloe and Parker find a way or is it too much of a risk? I was given an ARC of this book in exchange

This is book one in The Little Black Book of Secret's Series and it is Chloe and Parker's story and it is definitely a must read. When Chloe and Parker meet the connection and chemistry between them is so strong and intense but neither are looking to be in a relationship but there are always complications that could put them on the right of wrong path to love but will they take a chance to see where it leads or is it going to be strictly business between them. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down as it was a real page turner with great characters and storyline that kept your attention throughout the whole book and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Karen Booth is an amazing author and writer and I absolutely love her books and definitely recommend you read this book and others by her as they are so well written and definitely worth reading.

The Problem with Playboys is first in the new trilogy of the Little Black Book of Secrets and is a sizzling start to the new series. After watching their parents drop in and out of relationships, neither Chloe or Parker are looking for that elusive love connection and are more focused on their careers. When Chloe goes to pick up the last of her mother's belongings from Parker's father, Parker is there to give them to her. Their first meeting is a little contentious, Parker is dismissive of Chloe's career but soon learns the value of her talent. Although they try to keep their interactions on a professional level, the sparks are too strong to ignore and what begins as a fling soon becomes so much more. This is a spicy, sizzling page turner with a little bit of intrigue and a whole lot of love.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

The chemistry between Parker and Chloe jumped off the pages from their first meeting. And while Parker is open about his attraction, Chloe has multiple reasons why nothing should happen between them. But when they are thrown together in a different city in a romantic setting, the thought of throwing caution to the wind is too much for her to resist. There's also an underlying storyline of the Little Black Book and the secrets of the wealthy that are being released. Some information is discovered regarding this, but not who is behind everything going on.

Parker and Chloe seem to be made for each other as neither of them is looking for a serious relationship. And they both have parents who have been married multiple times. The only question is whether they will be able to keep their emotions out of it as they spend more time together. Loved this story and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tumultuous journey of seduction and secrets that playboy sports agent Parker Sullivan and PR crises management expert Chloe Burnett embarked on to discover what they both really want from each other!

Two commitment phobes that were made for each other with crackling chemistry between them, cannot keep their hands off each other and so a fling turns into so much more then what they both bargained for!

But there are forces outside their reach that could come between them in the form of Little black book- a secret divulger of the rich and famous that targets them when Parker’s PI starts to dig too deep into who Little Black book could be……

Will Chloe accept what Parker did?
Will his secret tear them apart?

A sweet steamy out of office romance page turner that I can definitely recommend!

This is the 1st book in the new Little Black Book trilogy and it features Parker and Chloe's story. Chloe has her own PR agency that she's focused on running her only focus is her career after seeing her mother go through multiple divorces. In fact that's how she first meets Parker when her mother sends her to retrieve some of her belongings from her soon to be ex husband and he has his son Parker handle the exchange. The sparks fly but Chloe is a no nonsense kind of girl and Parker is a playboy who doesn't think that her job's important. Until Parker needs Chloe to work her magic to fix his clients image because the Little Black Book surfaced. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this wonderful story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Four and a half stars

The Problem With Playboys by Karen Booth is the first in her Little Black Book trilogy. Chloe Burnett’s mom is about to finalize yet another divorce and sends Chloe to retrieve her last few belongings from her soon to be ex, who has his son, the too handsome for his own good Parker Sullivan, take care of the handoff on his behalf.

Parker and Chloe sense but attempt to ignore that sizzle of attraction, and well, that works out about as well as one might imagine… Karen Booth does a terrific job of letting readers enjoy these two hard-working, not-looking-for-a-relationship people take a tumble into the big bold world not only of heated physical compatibility but of growing emotional connections. Chloe and Parker find that love is a real thing, and worth fighting for. A terrific start to this series!

This first story in the new little black book of secrets trilogy was a good one. Chloe and Parker are a couple with lots of chemistry and although he is comfortable with the attraction she is not. Chloe has personal and professional reasons why she feels it is best to keep him at arms length. When they work together to salvage the image of one of his clients they get too close for comfort and the pull towards one another is too hard to resist. Chloe and Parker are a fun pair to read about and the story also introduces her gal pals, Alexis and Taylor, who will be featured in subsequent books in the series. And then there is the mystery of who is behind the gossip in the little black book. This was like a cool, delicious gossip girls with a fun love story mixed in. Good stuff.

This was a great start to a new series and loved the undeniable attraction between Chloe and Parker along with the intrigue behind the Little Black Book. Parker has to eat humble pie after being so flippant about what Chloe does for a job and it made me laugh when he had to make the call to her, but frustrated me on how he still didn't take her seriously to begin with, but Chloe knows her stuff and knew he would soon see she knows what she is doing. While sorting out Parkers PR issues things between her and Parker ramp up along with who ever is behind Little Black Book causes more issue that has you turning the page to see what happens next as well as eagerly awaiting the next book to see what is in store for one of Chloe's bestie's Taylor!

Riveting from start to finish! THE PROBLEM WITH PLAYBOYS kicks off a brand new series from Karen Booth about three best friends meandering the streets of Manhattan as a new social media gossip begins to blow secrets out of the water. The characters were intriguing, the set up of scandal kept me watching and the love story was rewarding. Can't wait for more Little Black Book of Secrets!

Chloe and Parker were an unlikely pair based on their family history, but they were spot on in the banter department and drew me into their web quickly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little scandalous mystery mixed into your romance. This book was fast-paced with electrifying drama and lots of sexy goodness.

I haven’t read many books by Karen Booth, but those I have read, I’ve absolutely loved. The Problem with Playboys is centered around Chloe and Parker. Their parents are getting divorced, but they only meet right before the divorce is final. The chemistry between these two characters is smoking hot, even though Parker basically bad mouths Chloe’s job. Imagine his surprise when he needs her help with his high profile client, lol. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say if you’re looking for a steamy read with some angst thrown in, this will be an enjoyable read for you. I look forward to reading more of this author’s books.

The Problem with Playboys is the first book in Karen Booth’s Little Black Book of Secrets. What happens when a social media gossiper starts spreading rumors about you? Chloe Burnett and Parker Sullivan soon find out.

Chloe and Parker are somewhat related and had never met until their parents’ divorce. Next thing they know she is trying to fix one of his most important client’s reputation. Before they know it, the sparks are flying. Will they give a relationship a try despite the history of their parents?

The Problem with Playboys kicks off this series with a bang. I can’t wait to read the next book. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.

A nicely written story focusing on two very different people pushed together by their parent's fleeting marriage.

Parkers is a sports agent with a reputation for being a ladies man and Chloe has her own PR agency she's focused on building. Opposites in many respects.

One small editorial issue for me was the way text messages were recorded. It made it very hard to determine what was a text and what was dialogue and who was saying what. Separating the texts out and using italics to highlight the message might make it clearer to read. Otherwise it was beautifully edited.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Chloe and Parker meet at the end of their parents' marriage and the sparks flew in more than one way. When Parker needs image help for his client, he calls Chloe. They start a fling which evolves to love. Unfortunately a mysterious Little Black Book which was behind Parker's client's problems seems to have it out for them too. Parker is trying to find out who is behind it which makes them more vicious. The gossip almost costs their relationship but which wise words from her mom and his dad's housekeeper, they overcome it. I hope to find out more about the Black Book in future books.

Great book with taboo romance and mystery.
Standalone with a very minor cliffhanger, couple has HEA.
I made the mistake of reading book 2 first but it really doesn't change my take on this series or this book. I like them both.
Chloe has a mom who loves to get married. Its after her mom's latest divorce that she meets her stepbrother. Lets just say it a good thing their parents are divorced.
Sparks fly! But they are both anti-love people.
Parker wants her, even if everyone is against it.
The mystery is, who is behind the gossip of the little black book?
I'm off to look for book #3.

Ooooooh! This is the start of something good. Relative strangers with complicated family ties, Chloe and Parker nevertheless have undeniable chemistry. The smart choice would be for the pair to stay away from one another, but that's not what either one wants to do. I really liked Chloe and Parker and seeing both of them crack open the defences around their hearts, but what really kept me reading was the mystery surrounding Little Black Book. I'm dying to get my hands on the next in this series to find out more.

OMG!! Best pool scene EVER!!

Celebrity fixer Chloe Burnette has never met her soon to be ex-stepbrother, Parker Sullivan, to solve one of his client's scandals. They never expected the sparks to fly!! And on top of that, the Little Black Book gossip account puts them both firmly in its sights! Steamiest pool scene I've ever read!! This book was a fast read. I had it done in less than 24 hours and that included work and sleep. I can't wait to read the rest of the Little Black Book series. Thanks Karen Booth for bringing it again!
