How can two homeless boys save London from a 350-year-old plot to destroy the city in a matter of four days? Well, there's only one way to find out...
HOW DO YOU STOP HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF WHEN IT'S BECOME INVISIBLE?
Dark is damaged. So damaged that he’s learnt how to switch off his emotions to protect himself, and it suits him just fine.
But that was before he knew about the terrorist ghosts planning to destroy London.
Normally it wouldn’t bother him, but now his only companion on the streets, Irish lad Paul Barley, has become vulnerable to their attacks. So Dark knows he’s got to do something to protect him.
It’s the two of them against 350 years of plotting. An invisible strain of history, born from the 17th century, when religion and science first intertwined, has been lurking within the city, waiting for the right time to resurface.
Now London’s day of reckoning has finally arrived.
And it’s up to these two to save it.

Really cool book. We follow two young homeless lads with their fair share of problems, and it's kind of like a National Treasure/Da Vinci Code type mystery adventure set in modern London.
The characters' development is really interesting throughout the book, and the action picks up pretty quickly and just keeps going! Really good pacing for me personally.
It's almost like magical realism in one way, but with a very scientific backing to that.
It's not a short book but you'll get through it mega quick!
Rating: 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 since it got me out of a reading slump 🥰
I won this book in a giveaway and I was so excited to read it.
First things first: I LOVE dark. I love him. He is my dark crusty cinnamon roll and I love him. I mean, I love Paul too, but I LOVE LOVE dark.
Secondly: I really enjoyed the story. It was interesting and new. There were parts I found a tad bit boring... well no, not boring but slow, and that was just due to all the history they (and i) had to learn. But overall a really fun read.
I went about 3 weeks without touching a book unless it was manga so finishing this in 3 days was amazing.
So this is the first book I have read by this author. I happen to come across this author on a social platform. So this book is not what I normally read but I wanted something that was different. Let me say this was just what I needed. One thing I enjoyed about the book is about the history written in it. Then you also some religious aspects as well. So lets meet the two main characters Dark and Paul. Now Dark seems to be a bitter man and just living day to day. Then he meet Paul and decided to take him under his wing and so now it is the two of them. Now this book will get you with the mystery pretty early on. The signs are coming but you have no idea what they are. As the story progresses you see them and wonder how in the world is this being pulled off. There is a lot of action and you never know what will happen. Another thing you will notice is the relationship between Dark and Paul. Its funny at times with their silly banter. At times it felt like a father/son bond then friendship bond, but I finally settled on family because no matter what they go through, they stick together. There were moments where things were challenged with them but they over come it. Overall I really enjoyed reading this book. It is definitely one that you should check out.
Very, interesting book! Led by two loveable, homeless men - Dark and Paul, who you follow throughout the story.
First of all I fell in love with them both very quickly and they really seem like a couple of decent blokes you could sit down & have a laugh with. I really enjoyed their banter & reading how their relationship played out / came about. Very heartwarming.
Now the plot. Whoa! It was very, very well thought out & interesting. Though there were some points when it was unravelling where there was just so much information, I had to reread several times just to make sure I was taking it all in correctly, but that's not a bad thing because it absolutely fascinated me!
Towards the end everything started happening a little too quickly & It was very wow, okay I need to be completely absorbed in this book to keep up & understand what is happening. But overall I really enjoyed it, definitely worth a read!
The two main characters, Dark and Paul, are well drawn and engaging. They are facing a strange set of events where everybody in London is being subjected to an evil plot to recreate the Great Fire of London to recreate a mythical nirvana. Where your typical action hero would go in all guns blazing, our heroes are homeless. Overall, the plot is interesting, the ideas imaginative and the villains insidious. Told as first person from Dark’s perspective, it occasionally breaks out into Paul, where it switches to third person. They travel across a section of London between Wapping and Waterloo; with several major landmarks I could easily envisage. Some of the elements felt shoehorned in but overall, this book is worth a read. It's better than three stars but not quite four.
This book has a similar feel to Down and out in Paris and London, as it follows a couple of homeless youths around London. They research history and discover some science while trying to save their city. It's set in modern times but they face an evil force that was created 350 yrs ago. I loved how the relationship between the two main characters develops through the book as does their own ideas of self-worth.
When no one else was there for them these two, Dark and Paul, we’re there for each other. An entertaining read, with a great ending. Dark is such an interesting and well developed character. Take some time and get to know the world of Neil King.
It was a really sweet and heartwarming end. I loved the relationship between Dark and Paul. So so cute. And the storyline was really compelling with a lot of great twists and turns. Definitely power through the first half. The second half is so action packed I read it in almost no time.
I found the author of The Signs are Coming on TikTok and reached out when I read this synopsis because it sounded like 👏🏻 exactly 👏🏻 my type 👏🏻 of book!!!
Two codependent, homeless twenty-somethings (Dark and Paul) running amuck in London, trying to save the day even though society would rather ignore their existence. A dark fantasy, modern-day London setting and a supernatural secret society with a plan to bring about the apocalypse. Is it the prophesied doomsday? Is it the supernatural? Is it science? (And at the end of the day, is there really any difference?) If any of that sounds good to you, The Signs are Coming is out Sept 6 and I had a great time with it!
WOW what can I say, this was such an amazing read. I discovered this book on booktok and seeing all the videos the author was making made me excited for the release and to be able to read this book. I was lucky enough to win a copy from the author and let me tell you I was not disappointed.
This book has me hooked from the first sentence. It really drew me in and I read the whole book in a day. Sign of a good book when you can’t put it down. It was full of action and kept me needing to know what was going to happen next. A real page-turner I could not put down.
I grew to love Dark and Paul very quickly and loved their dynamic, they really are a great duo. While they are two very different characters they work so well together.
This book really does have it all. Fast- paced action, dark humour, loveable characters, intense mystery, emotional scenes and highlights social issues.
It was like nothing I have read before which I love. A fast paced read that I would highly recommend.
