In my journey in trying to be a good Christian woman [title of my Christian blog], I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t participate in my first conversation with the Lord. I went from writing the majority of my book reviews for nonfiction Christian books to be inspired to write my first two Christian fiction books that I published on January 11, 2020. While writing my first book, I began asking the Lord for guidance on what I should write next; his answers came to me in a dream. While writing this YA Christian Contemporary romance, I suffered from writer’s block on several occasions and resorted to what I did while writing my secular YA romance novel. I took a word, and I wrote a short story for it this time; all the short stories I wrote had a Christian element to them.
Publishing these two books inspired me to start writing my Christian blog, where I am sharing the words of the Lord daily. Now, as I contemplate what topic I should select for the day’s Scriptural reflection, I engage in what can be best describe as a telepathic conversation with the Lord. Once you start conversing with the Lord regularly, it becomes easier and easier, and the topics getting discussed can increase in their intimacy.
Ms. Belisle’s book is designed for her readers to increase their relationship with the Lord through conversations. For each day of the devotional journey, she offers readers a topic followed by an appropriate verse of scripture, followed by her own experiences. She then asks her readers to engage in conversation with the Lord on the same topic and write about it, especially His answers, in some sort of journaling. Each day culminates with a specifically designed prayer for the day’s topic.
Having conversations with the Lord readers will find to be fulfilling and uplifting, especially when they involve something dear to their hearts. At times, these conversations might involve having an engaging self-examination with themselves. All-in-all, I found Ms. Belisle’s book to be an enlightening experience as to what is possible once someone starts to have chit-chats with their Lord. This is why I’ve given Ms. Belisle the 5 STARS she’s getting from this rather voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books.
