New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, writes character driven, heart-racing suspense, and swoony romances that will leave you glued to the page. With stories ranging from witty beach reads to heart wrenching and heart healing, her stories are highly regarded as emotional, relatable, and captivating.
Her books are more than escapes for the voracious readers of today. They are journeys of the heart that always come with a happily ever after reward at the end.
Crazy in Love is actually a good book. I do enjoy the story, the plot, and the tight circle of friends. I even like Harrison. He is sweet.
The only thing that bothered me is Tatum. She is so annoying! Her push and pull is bit immature. I was waiting for her character to grow. But she appearently like to be immature drama queen.
These coming days, my reviews will be short and random. I try to read everyday. But with the pandemic become worse, I have to deal with a lot of shit.
If we're being honest here... I'd have difficulty articulating any one thing that I liked about this, other than the sweet hero. I'm a fan of the writing style, but the storyline failed to pull me in - from start to finish. We never see the meet cute or any of this couple's chemistry from their initial night together, and I think that started this story off on the wrong foot. The miscommunication and resentment that follow didn't help either, nor did some of the developments along the way. So, while I don't think this is necessarily a "bad" story, I can't really call it a "good" one either. Some readers are likely to enjoy this more than others, but it was a miss for me.
The story follows Tatum and Harrison, two strangers who had a one night stand four years ago. They shared one steamy night together that caused this playboy to become smitten, and it was supposed to end there. But these two are part of the same group of friends, so they've seen each other a few times in the years that have followed. Once Tatum and Harrison decide to finally get things out in the open and more forward, they realize that there might be some lingering attraction. As the two reconnect on a different level than before, they have to move past the emotional roadblocks that kept them apart the first time around.
I would like to mention that there's something about the writing style that's kept me coming back for more, even when the storylines haven't always completely worked for me. And I really did like Harrison; he's willing to admit that there's something special about Tatum, and he's open to pursuing more. I just wish he didn't wait four years to do so, lol. I hated Tatum - she gets in her own way a LOT, and overreacts frequently. The messy history and miscommunication also drove me crazy, as did the absence of some of the classic "romantic" moments. We don't get the meet cute, they jump right into sex, and then other roadblocks get in the way later on. I needed a reason to root for the relationship, and there just weren't many. Simple as that. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this one night stand turned more romance.
Every once in a while a story grabs me by the heart and pulls me along for the ride like I'm actually experiencing the story. I feel it - every ache, every needy longing, every playful flirt, every delicious butterfly. Crazy In Love was like that for me. Harrison and Tatum’s chemistry was a palpable thing, and I felt it as it smoldered and sizzled and took on a life of its own between these pages.
All of the FEELS with this one! I fell quick. I fell hard. I absolutely LOVED this romance! I was drawn in completely to Harrison and Tatum’s beautifully complicated love story. I fell so hopelessly in love with them. Their story was so authentic. So brilliantly emotional. So wonderfully tender and brutally honest. I was surprised at the heart wrenching turn this story took, but it made the journey to the happily ever after that much greater. It was frustrating but real. It was sexy and quick witted. It was beautiful and passionate. I couldn’t have asked for a better story for these two wonderful characters. S.L. Scott’s writing is also beautiful, setting my heart aflutter and leaving my copy of this story littered with highlights. This book was so much more than I expected and I am completely crazy about it.
Chock full of authentic and heartfelt emotion, littered with charming little laugh-out-loud moments, and heavy on the swoon, Crazy In Love was nothing but aces for me. It hit every single of my sweet spots - it's emotional, sexy and smart, it was an effortless FIVE STAR read. I will never get enough of S.L. Scott’s brand of warm and uplifting romance.
Four and half years ago Tatum and Harrison had a ONS while on vacation. Both were feeling it but Tatum said that since they live on opposite sides of the country that they shouldn't pretend that it could be more and to just enjoy the night for what it is and go their separate ways. Unfortunately, Tatum and Harrison's best friends met that night also but they went on to get married so Tatum and Harrison didn't that clean break that she proposed. For 4.5 years she has masked her feelings towards Harrison by treating him as enemy numero uno.
I adored Harrison. He was amazing and perfect even if he should have walked away a long time ago. My issues with this book is all Tatum. I just couldn't bring myself to like her and, personally, I didn't see the character development with her for me to eventually like her. I enjoyed the story line/plot and the writing but Tatum kind of ruined it for me. I won't say that it is a bad story and don't recommend it because other's may enjoy it but I, personally, didn't think it was a great story.
Generally, I'm not one who gives one star ratings, but I just can't help it! S.L. Scott's Crazy in Love got me feeling all kinds of crazy, and not in a good way, too. I was contemplating on whether I should at least give this book two stars, but decided not to go against my honesty, thus, settling with a one star rating in the end.
To be honest, I really enjoyed the first half of this book. I didn't even know that it was part of a series. I only knew by the time I finished it that this was actually the third part, but still, even if it can be read as a standalone - which I did - I feel like I would've appreciated Tatum and Harrison more if I read the other books in the series first as there were just some parts where I felt like I missed something out, especially when it comes to Tatum and Natalie's friendship in the past. The plot is simple and cliche as expected in some romance books, and it was just the kind of story I was looking for when I decided to pick this up. So why the low rating?
It's really because of the main character, Tatum. I can't even explain how frustrating she makes me feel. She's quick to judge and assuming. I can't stress enough how many times I shook my head at her, thinking at how much of a horrible person she is! Starting with the unexpected pregnancy. I mean, she had her doubts at first, yet it's like she didn't even mind them. Choosing to ignore this hunch and worse, keep it from her clueless, clueless boyfriend who, may I add, is just as equally responsible. I swear, right after Tatum brushed this situation right off her shoulder like it was nothing, I was immediately turned off with her character.
Moreover, I just hated how she's so... petty. I mean that one phone call she had with Harrison where she heard a woman's laughter at the other end of the line and just instantly assumed that he's moved on with someone else when in fact it just turned out to be his sister? Sis didn't even give him a benefit of the doubt. I mean how are they supposed to keep their relationship when she doesn't even have a modicum of trust for her partner? I'm going a bit over the details here, but I swear, Tatum is just so frustrating that her push-and-pull attitude was absolutely not fun. Until the end, I didn't see her character development. I waited out to see if she grows out of her attitude with no such luck, leaving me entirely disappointed with this book.
When it comes to Harrison though, his character is pretty much okay for me. I can see that he sincerely cares about Tatum and that he clearly loves her. There were even times where I felt like he deserved better, if you ask me.
Overall, I think it's only fair to say that I enjoyed at least the first half of the book. But with Tatum's attitude together with the whole unexpected pregnancy situation, how it came to be and to how they both handled it together, it all started to go downhill for me.
Tatum and Harrison had one magic night on Catalina (the same magic night their BFF's Natalie & Nick met and started their journey to a HEA).
Tatum doesn't believe in the fairytale. She's been burned by life and so instead embraces the fun but avoids the entanglements. Natalie is her person and her one reliable constant. When the two of them meet Harrison and Nick, a night neither of them will ever forget begins. A night that still lingers in the memory.
Harrison wanted that night to be the start of more. Tatum did too, even if she is skittish. Instead, life got in the way and now, years later, they are in each others lives again because their best friends found each other again.
They are like oil and water most of the time but Harrison has to spend time in New York and so he takes a chance on starting something with the woman he has never forgotten, or gotten over.
It takes some work. Lots of miscommunication. Some time apart. An unexpected pregnancy. Meddling friends and family. Some super hot chemistry. Their story may have started with no strings but it rapidly became a mess of feelings.
This book has heat, humor, friendship, loyalty, a dash of drama, family (good and bad, by blood and choice), and has my favorite trope of enemies to lovers in addition to second chances AND a surprise pregnancy.
I loved Harrison!! Love Tatum's independent spirit! The book left me smiling and happy. I love that warm HEA glow!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
S.L. Scott you did it again!! I had high hopes for this novel and you did not fail me!! I absolutely adore your work! Crazy In Love is an enemies to lovers, billionaire, second chance and surprise pregnancy romance. It's a standalone, but if you read "Never Got Over You" then you already met the main characters hence, Crazy In Love is set in the same world. I was ecstatic when I heard that Harrison (hero) and Tatum (heroine) were getting their own book!! Even though it was only brief, I immensely enjoyed reading the scenes they were featured in. S.L. Scott sure does create swoon worthy characters. I mean, Harrison! He had my heart from the very beginning. At times, I was a bit frustrated with Tate's behavior towards Harrison.
However, I understand where she was coming from, her past relationships are the main cause in why she's skeptical towards the opposite sex. But deep down she longs for a serious relationship, just like her best friend's marriage. And Harrison, ever since he met Tate, he truly wanted to be with her. But Tate has a fortress around her, she closed herself off not allowing anyone in. But Harrison did not give up! Ever so slowly Tate's walls came crashing down. These two are so cute together!! They really have a great chemistry and I loved seeing how comfortable they were in each others' presence. And I really enjoyed seeing Tate's character evolving throughout the book. Their relationship was sure a turbulent journey, but in the end it all worked out. Overall, another feel good "meant to be/it's fate" romance novel by this amazing author! The storylines of the novels I read so far are fantastic! I'm super excited to see what S.L Scott has in store for us!
One night, no strings attached. Harrison and Tatum weren't looking for a serious relationship when their paths crossed. Yet unawarely, they connected on a much deeper level but neither of them acted on it. Fast forward to four and half years later, when Harrison and Tate meet again the chemistry between them is still there. As they navigate their way through their newly formed relationship, an unexpected surprise will shock them.
**I've received an ARC in exchange for my honest review
Tatum and Harrison met four years ago on the same night as their best friends. They decided it was just going to be a one night stand nothing more and besides they don’t ever live close to each and who wants to do long distance. But both of them felt something that night even though they would deny it. And then Tatum broke her own rule and she left her number, only Harrison never called ☹
Now its four years later they have been in and out of each other’s lives as their best friends got married. Harrison still feels a connection with Tatum but he feels like he has no chance with her now. So if he wants to have any sort of relationship with Tatum will he be strong enough to get over the walls she has built up around herself?
When I started this book I thought oh no another playboy, but Harrison sort of surprised me. Even in the beginning when Tatum was all one night stand he actually wanted to have something more. Tatum was so used to being alone and left behind that it was hard for Harrison to get her to trust him. But I loved how he got her to open up and even though it sometimes felt like he was getting nowhere he didn’t give up on her. I loved his personality and I even loved Tatum. Even though she really made him work for everything 😊 ♥ Loved their chemistry and all the twists and turns in the story. Seemed like everything was just working out and then something else would happen. Which I loved as it kept me reading and kept me entertained 😊♥
This was my first read by this author and while this wasn’t a favorite, I’m still interested in her other books. This was an enemies to lovers romance that should have worked for me, and for a while it did - about 35% - but then I just got bored and aggravated with Tatum. Her kind of character just rubs me the wrong way. She’s driven, rich, successful but gets in her own way when it comes to her love life. She connected with Harrison for one night and gave him her number but he never calls - due to extenuating circumstances that we don’t find out until nearly the end - and she hated him ever since. Years go by, and she still won’t give him the time of day until finally one night… So this book was filled with miscommunication from both Tatum and Harrison. And I don’t have the time or patience for that anymore. These are successful people, just TALK and work out your problems. And especially when it comes to Tatum, I thought this quote summed it up perfectly - “She lets her fear of getting hurt protect her from ever receiving love.” … GIRL. Grow up. Ugh her attitude and fear just irked me to the point where I just couldn’t enjoy reading anymore and had to skim the rest of the way.
I enjoyed Tatum and Harrison’s story. We met them in Nat and Nick’s books so we know more about how they met in the past, so I wanted to read more about them and while I loved the characters I felt something was missing. Harrison was definitely my favorite, he was attentive and caring and I loved his relationship with Nick and his family. I liked Tatum too but she overreacted a lot of things so they fought a lot throughout the book and that was something I didn’t enjoy.
It was an easy read and I always wanted to keep reading but still I expected more because it had great things to be an amazing story.
As always with a SL Scott book I loved this second chance slow burn romance. It's a follow on from Never Got Over You when Natalie meets Nick and Tatum meets Harrison on Catalina Island four years ago but the outcomes of the meetings were very different. Nat is now happily married to Nick and Tatum is her best friend and business partner, fearless in her business life but too afraid to move forward in her relationships.
Though Harrison and Tatum have amazing chemistry when they first meet she is determined that it was going to be a one night stand after all they live on different coasts so it can't go anywhere right? Once Harrison moves to New York for business and moves in with Nat and Nick there is no way that Tatum can avoid him. Harrison is thrilled to meet Tatum again even though she is very standoffish at first, annoyed with him for not calling her after Catalina Island and as she sees it deserting her as so many before him have done.
After the scenes with her parents which can only be described as horrific, it is no wonder that Tatum is how she is. She is part of a wealthy family, and has everything she could possibly want in her life except the love of her parents, all she is is a convenience to them and any problems she has can be solved by them throwing money at them. How could they turn up one day late for her birthday? One of the most jaw dropping parts of the story for me was when her father gives her a blank cheque for her birthday and Tatum fills it out for $15 million to buy a house and her parents never blink an eye. WOW.
This time, after the unexpected happens Harrison is determined to fight for a second chance with Tatum, but the walls she has built around her heart will take some breaking down. Harrison is the guy for the job, not using a sledgehammer but slowly gaining her trust by giving her what she has never had in her life, love, support and someone who is really interested in her and not her money.
This story shows how powerful love can be, able to turn lives around but falling in love is not easy for these two. It is a battleground mostly due to Tatum's lack of trust until Harrison proves from his actions that he is worth taking a chance on. Expect to shed a few tears and be frustrated at this two especially Tatum but you will have a good time and get good happy feels from reading this book.
Crazy in Love just gives me all those feels and more. I'm in love with this one. I love Tatum. She is filled with so many layers that once you slowly start peeling them away you get such a greater sense of who she is and why she reacts the way she does. Harrison is a sweetheart. He makes your heart just go gooey with everything he does. You feel for him and every wall that Tatum throws up. He has this patients about him that wins you over. The chemistry is explosive when it comes to Tatum and Harrison. For one thing its all about timing and coming to all those glorious realizations. There is so much love in this one that you cannot help but to walk away with a huge smile on your face by the time you are done reading. I love that we get Nick, Natalie and Cookie in this one as sounding boards and guiding lights. Tatum and Harrison stole my heart and have not given it back yet and I'm so okay with that. You need to read this one and enjoy the little crazy ride that is Tatum and Harrison. So what are you waiting for, GO ONE CLICK THIS NOW!!!
Absolutely adore this series! I bought the paperback and audiobook as soon as I could!
Harrison and Tatum met the same night as their best friends, Natalie and Nick (of Never Got Over You), but their story turned out a little differently. A pact to not let their fling turn into more than one night, led to 4.5 years of love/hate. Lots of enemies to lovers vibes with two fantastic leads, a beautiful friend group, and so much love. Tate has a lot of walls she puts up, but Harrison is determined to knock those walls down. Even (small spoiler, I guess but I think it’s mentioned in some promotional material) those two pink lines can’t break them, though they may bend from time to time. Tatum and Harrison are strong, determined, successful people but each is learning to love the other and truly learn what it means to be in love.
Finally Tatum got out of her own way!!! This is a great story of loving someone despite the challenges both the person and circumstances bring... no one deserves a medal for resilience, perseverance or dedication more than Harrison Decker... he is a dream! Took me a while to warm up to Tate but as her layers were revealed I felt nothing but sympathy for this tough girl with a very soft heart. I did shout at her towards the end and thankfully she heard me!! LOL!
Another fantastic love story from Ms Scott with all her usual banter and couple-ness (new word there!!) that I have come to enjoy and expect from her, with a huge dose of Cookie’s destiny thrown in and what a joy to catch up with Nick and Natalie once again!
Now this is a book I could relate to on every level. I am so similar to Tatum. Leaving before you get left to protect your heart from being hurt is her motto. Until Harrison shows up in her life. They have a one night together almost five years ago and then go their own ways. They never expected there to be more, especailly Tatum. Harrison knows Tatum is different from anyone else. However, unexpected situations arise when he returns home which keeps him from calling Tatum. Years later Tatum is still hurt by his silence leaving the more on enemy territory.
There relationship is a tough one but it's well worth it. You'll have moment when you want them to give up and move on but all the while you're still rooting for them. I loved this book.
I enjoyed this book even though it took me a bit to really get into it. But once it picked up, Tatum and Harrison's story pulled me right in.
I loved how Harrison was the one who wanted a relationship and more. But not Tatum. It took a bit for me to warm up to her. She is stubborn and irrational at times. And Harrison would just give her everything to please her. But as you read further, you'll get an understanding of why she acted that way. No matter what, Harrison keeps breaking those walls down and not one to back down. These two have the chemistry and their bickering is more like foreplay.
4 years ago Tatum was the party girl who along with her best friend was always up for a good time. She has one great night with Harrison. A miscommunication caused hurt feelings and anger. Now her best friend is married and having a baby. Harrison is now in her town and things are getting heated. Harrison is a sweet. He wanted more the first night they had together. Tatum was the one who said to keep it light and then was hurt when he didn't contact her. Her emotions were kind of all over the place. She seemed confident but like everyone else she has her insecurities. A cute story with fun banter and likable characters..
Not much to write about. It’s a bit predictable and slow as not much of anything happened. The last half was just Tatum jumping to every conclusion she could think of about everything and they literally made zero sense! It got tired and boring. Thank God I listened it as the narrators were great or this would have been DNF
Crazy in Love was so good! It really has it all. Enemies to lovers, laugh out loud moments, sweet moments, and it definitely heats up. The twists and turns in this book had me so hooked. I absolutely loved Harrison and Tatum's story so much. I definitely recommend!
Ever since I’ve seen this book cover, I knew I had to read it asap. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by the author and as second chance romance is my go to jam, I was all for it.
It’s an emotional story, with so many significant moments of raw feelings and life experiences, with family drama and some laugh out loud scenes and some steamy sparks between Tatum and Harrison. There are some frustrating moments but a well deserved happily ever after is guaranteed and I recommend this book for any romantic at soul.
I really enjoyed reading this. There was really no drama and it flowed really well even with a few flashbacks.
The banter between Harrison & Tatum was very flirtatious and fit their characters well. This was their second chance to start a relationship. It wasn’t without a few minor bumps, but they worked it out. They waited and got it right.
DNF @14%. This was written like a high school romance. Not characters who were 26 and 29. The jealousy and dialogue was like listening in on the girls locker room gossip.
What the fuckity fuck was this book. I can't even explain what a mess this book was.
I can't even point out one single thing I liked about this book. This book was a sad excuse for a second chance romance or even for a romance novel itself.
Let me not even get started with the main characters. Oh my god what a bitch of a heroine she was. Even if hero was mediocre, heroine's horribleness tainted it all. There was nothing good about hero either. They were so mean and horrible to each. They always fought about very stupid reasons. I still don't understand what was the issue with heroine. It's mention that she had been hurt but she herself only doesn't get involve with men emotionally. If she was a real person, then honey you need to she a therapist. I am sorry but you are not fit for a child. Sounds cruel? But the characters were that bad, I just can't help it. Throughout the story it felt like they are with each other for all the wrong reasons.
Just into the first chapter and you will realize what a mess this book was. I kept hoping that it would get better and there will be some sort of character development or some good story development. But no, shocks kept coming and it just kept getting worse.
This book called crazy in love you say. More like "how to get into a marriage which will lead to divorce". God help there child.
I never hate any book in my life this much. The worst part is that the writing was not that bad, not something cringe or OTT. I am more disappointed because it had so much potential with the whole plot.
If you have just started this book and find it frustrating, so honey you can put down the because it doesn't get better.
Crazy in Love by S.L. Scott is her at what she does best, giving us emotional and captivating stories we devour. Here we have Harrison and Tatum who decide to share one night together and then move on. Now years later they are face-to-face again and working together. Is this their second chance? Both have felt a deeper connection, but until now have decided to ignore it. Can they still?
I loved Harrison. He was sexy, charming and determined. Tatum is beautiful, smart, but also full of insecurities. I loved their back and forth and steamy chemistry. Even so, Tatum is afraid to open her heart. But Harrison is just as determined to break down all her walls. These two stole my heart, even as they had me at the edge of my seat. A sweet and charming read and one I recommend.
I almost Dnf’ed it. I assumed at the beginning that Tatum would annoy me, but she exceeded my expectations, and then some. In the worst way possible.
I’m mad, but that’s my fault cause I put myself through this by deciding to finish it. Omg, the childish tantrums, random conclusions, I’m so annoyed.
And the sheer stupidity in the end with the so called plan that I saw from a mile away… Don’t even get me started.
I always try to give the book the benefit of the doubt and even if the beginning isn’t great, it might usually redeem itself later so I continue reading. I’m totally fine with a 3 star read every once in while. Not in this case, it only got worse
From now on I’m dnfing anything, that doesn’t feel right
The writing is done well and the other characters are fine but Tatum, the female lead, is a complete and utter JERK. She was downright annoying and I had to skip through sections because I couldn't stand her. She's judgemental, jumps to conclusions, doesn't give Harrison a chance to explain anything and just overall acts like an @$$hole. I honestly don't see why Harrison likes her. I don't like giving reviews like this but Tatum just ruined the book for me and I didn't want to continue I like this author though and will continue reading her books, but this one was a big fat NO.
