Queen of the fae courts. Faced with an impossible battle. Destined to never be with the Unseelie I love.
The magical tea has worn off. My eyes are wide open. And it’s with horror that I realize the fate of two realms rests on my shoulders after my mother’s ultimate sacrifice to trap Rubezahl in Underhill.
Terrified humans clamoring for answers, whispered rumors from both Seelie and Unseelie, and a stepmother who seeks the throne for surprising reasons are the least of my troubles.
Rubezahl has returned far sooner than I thought possible. I’m not ready. I can’t win this. And not only that… He has something crucial if we are to win. He’s taken something I cannot live without.
The place of the final battle has been decided, and two armies will meet. Yet forces beyond my understanding must be satisfied first--old magics rise and demand their dues.
There is no option but to race and decipher the puzzle to save the man I love, the friends more important to me than my own life, and humans and fae alike.
Two realms. Only I can save them. We’re screwed.
If you can’t get enough of Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black, or Jennifer L. Armentrout, you will love this vibrant world where impossible love and an explosive pace will leave you breathless!
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.
I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)
Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.
I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)
As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.
Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.
Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.
This installation of the series felt… almost rushed? I enjoyed the lessons that we came back to with Underhill, with Alli and Lan, Cinth and the other characters who have been in this fight together. I just couldn’t find myself getting as excited for the final battles as I thought I would be, and the double edged ending… meh. I feel bad being as disappointed as I am in this book, but I enjoyed the first two books significantly more.
I’m a bit torn on this one. The story is well written and the world building is amazing. But after finishing book 3 I am left with this thought…why is Alli the one that always has to pay the price? Why would anyone want to be the hero when in the end they have more taken away in the name of balance? I don’t want to say too much because I truly don’t want to spoil the book. But I just feel like the ending was not fair. Or at the very least it was not satisfying. After the life that Alli had lived the battles that she had fought I felt like she deserved so much more. And Lan was another one I was not fully sold on. So, was he cruel (calling her mutt and rejecting her publicly) all just because he was Unseelie and she was Seelie, so it was forbidden? Because even after they finally came together he does it again. And Alli stands up for herself and tells him they need to stop their meetings and she ends up feeling guilty. What!?! He is the one that has repeatedly sent mixed signals. I didn’t understand why she let him treat her so badly and then act like nothing happened in the next breath. Then it’s like a switch is flipped and Lan learns to love himself and he stops calling Alli “Mutt.” I don’t know. It just didn’t work for me. I just wanted more all around when it came to this last book. I think I might have been ok with the ending had they not chosen to take one more thing away. It felt so cruel to show her what she would be losing. I just felt like our heroin did all the sacrificing and got back very little in return.

What an awesome ending to this trilogy. I really enjoyed two authors. Hehe there was no point in the book I scanned cause it was so well written. The whole trilogy was awesome. Great read.
The book is good...but the ending is too bittersweet for my taste. I am a HEA person and this was too heartbreaking imho to be considered that. Yeah yeah, I know, there's a lesson and all, but for hard worn lessons and terrible choices there is real life. I want characters I love to get everything they wish for in the end. Not the fault of the book, just not to my taste.
I'll be honest this book was a bit of a let down for me.
From the last book there were about a million different ways this could have gone. The direction it ended up going was surprising but I was a excited, then the end. Well, I didn't like it. To me it didn't feel complete. It felt almost like there were two different endings fighting for dominance and we ended up with a weird compromise of the two.
The book was enjoyable. I didn't love it like I did the first two. I would still definitely read more from these authors, I just need to get over my feelings about this book.
Finałowy tom losów Kallik i Lana.
I cyk, znowu inny zwrot akcji. Często gubiłam zainteresowanie i oczywiście wątek. 4. Bohaterowie - Kallik mnie tu wykończyła. Jest postacią, którą co chwilę oświeca jakaś wiedza, ale czytelnik nawet nie wie skąd jej się to wzięło. Ot tak. I te jej chaotyczne decyzje. No nie kleiło się to wcale. 5. Lan - pozbawiony jaj. Autorki postanowiły bohatera pozbawić ikry dość szybko, a Kallik dać we władanie jego osobą. Szkoda, ta postać miała potencjał i dodawał różnorodności. 6. Sceny +18 ... Dlaczego?
I'm only going to write a review for this one. Honestly, I'm just so disappointed in this series. Throughout all three books, I thought the story was convoluted and indecisive and all too convenient at times, but dammit, the writers WRITE well. I just think they are terrible storytellers. This final installment felt like a show that got cancelled midseason and they had to wrap everything up quickly but still make time to have a lengthy epilogue. It was very puzzling. I finished the whole trilogy because it was easy reading and I did want to know what happens in the end, but there was no sigh of satisfaction, no feeling of accomplishment after finishing. Just, "oh, okay. That's how it ends."
Also, the titles are all taken from poor attempts at poetic/prophetic gravity that fall very flat and are mentioned once and then never again for the rest of the series. Not to mention the clear SJM imitation.
In all, I would not reread and I would not recommend, really. The best thing I can say is that the covers are pretty.
*Loud sigh* I love the world, and the characters. The unexpected humor was a wonderful touch as well. But I didn’t love this one as much as I did the other two. Once the “ending” was revealed, I found myself rushing to just finish the book and be done with it.I can respect the ending the authors gave Alli and Lan but it just doesn’t feel like an HEA to me. It feels like a heroes sacrifice, truly but when I read, it’s to see the characters I fall in love with get their happy ending. Is their ending bad? No but it felt like an ending for the greater good. I’d classify this book more as a romantic fantasy rather than fantasy romance.
I liked this series.. but there are a lot of similarities to ACOTAR. Almost identical. The characters are kind of dry and at times the plot was BORING but overall not a bad series.
A great ending to a trilogy and an excellent introduction to a spinoff (can't wait for Thorn Kissed and Silver Chains in 2023)!
Kallick has been through SO MUCH in this series and she deserves all the happiness in the world! I loved following her journey through this trilogy. It took me reading all 3 books and rereading the first two to make me realise if there was a series I would compare the Honey and Ice Trilogy to, it would be The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Kallick does not fit into this world similarly to Jude in her story and the romantic dynamic in this series reminds me of Jude and Cardan's dynamic. Additionally, the pacing of the story is just as quick but the difference is that this is a New Adult Romance (and you have some good steam in here).
I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves The Cruel Prince or other Fae Urban Fantasies. Shannon Mayer and Kelly St Clare are now two authors I will be looking out for in terms of blacklist titles and upcoming releases. This trilogy was great and cannot wait to read more in this world!
There's a lot happening in here, action and intrigue, humour mixed with heart ache. She has to figure out what's happening, how to defeat the bad guy, and how to have everybody survive the encounter. And then she needs to realise what she's willing to sacrifice to succeed. The fate of two worlds hangs in the balance, and it's all resting on Kallick's shoulders It's a great world that's been created, full of so much imagination and rich detail. The touches of humour lend a bit of brevity that stops it dragging you down and kicking you in the guts, just that spot of a smile in otherwise pretty serious situations. There are some dark themes in here, but nothing that's overly expressed or graphic: more of a mention and the result as opposed to a blow-by-blow detailing. The book wraps up the story arc, but the end leaves it open for a new adventure (that sounds like it focuses on different characters in the future) to continue in this world.
it felt like a flash designer sale in NYC where all everyone was doing was grabbing what ever they saw because it was shiny and they knew it was expensive and someone they knew would like… that is to say there is too much going on, I don’t know if that’s because there is more than one author and they both wanted to do so much and they said fuck let’s do it all and not really explain anything and have no depth to the world, characters, relationships, or decisions making. Or simply because the authors accidentally submitted the unrevised, unedited version to the publisher and the publication house accidentally approved it and the printing press accidentally printed it?? And I accidentally read all three books in the series?
1.5 kindle unlimited Bad book; but honestly bad books need to keep getting made, good book are sometimes too much work

*Thoughts*
A Crown of Petals and Ice, by co-authors Shannon Mayer, and Kelly St. Clare, is the third and final installment in the authors Honey and Ice trilogy. Two weeks ago, Rubezahl was catapulted into Underhill by the Unseelie Queen Elisavanna. I recommend that you read A Throne of Feathers and Bone before picking up this book as everything is connected. With the formal announcement from the Oracle, who is as mysterious and annoying as always, Kallik is now queen of both Seelie, after her father was assassinated, and now the Unseelie courts after Elisavanna's sacrifice.
I read the entire trilogy. I enjoyed the first two books and pre-ordered the third. I was very excited about it. After reading it, however, I kind of hated it. I wanted to like it, but I found the storyline between Lan and Alli to be too fluffy this time. I wanted a little bit more grit and less "I'll sacrifice myself for the love of my life". I know the gene of young adult/ teen reads often has this type of storyline, but I was expecting something better.
This has been such an exciting and creative series and I was highly anticipating this release. This author duo really brought their A-game and ended (maybe?) this series on a high note.
One of the things that I love most about this series is that it is very original. The ideas and concepts that these authors use are fresh and have a unique feel to them. There are many tropes or ideas that are seen a lot in this genre and yet these authors seem to be able to bring something new to them. I loved the plot of this series and seeing it all come together at the end was so rewarding. I loved all the twists and turns in this book. There were so many things that I didn't expect and I loved how unpredictable the story was. These two authors really have a glorious combined writing style. They have a down-to-earth vibe in their storytelling that makes the reader feel right at home. The world-building for this series has been excellent. I have truly never imagined anything quite like it. The details are rich and the world is shown to the reader in ways that make it really stand out in the reader's mind.
I have loved the characters in this series. They have been so entertaining and compelling. The characters are just very well written. It was so easy to connect with them. I loved their individuality and how each character stood out in my mind. I loved the dynamics between the characters and how they played off of each other in the story.
It was so satisfying to see Alli and Lan get their happily ever after even if it was very bittersweet. They made so many sacrifices for the good of everyone else in the world and I honest to goodness shed tears in the final chapter. I felt so much for these two and their ending was just so beautiful and sad at the same time. I really loved seeing other side characters get their happily ever afters as well. Especially Cinth and Rowan. They are just so darn cute that it isn't funny.
I really love how the authors set up a continuation of this series. Mentions of new characters at the end of this book really have me looking forward to the next book. It is unclear whether the story will follow Alli or not but either way I am excited! I am curious about Alli's sister and the foreboding and vague things said about her. I am also curious to find out what Cinth's children will be like and what fate is in store for them. I'm also quite curious about Stryck's son. There are so many possibilities and I am so on board for the next book!
Overall, I am so pleased with the ending of this trilogy. This series really captivated me from the beginning and I was so enamored with these characters. If you are a fan of fantasy and paranormal worlds with unique twists, characters that get up in your grill in all the best ways, and storylines that are unpredictable and engaging then you need this series in your life. This trilogy was such a wild ride and I can't wait for more!
it was okay, but overall not that exciting as I was hoping.
I felt like I was running through the entire bunch of events on a speed of light and was missing many important details that had never been mentioned in the book. I think the entire story needs a proper world-building.
Also, the love story of Kallick and Faolan didn't Impress me much, and I am not sure, was it because this line was poorly written, or it was not original at all.
It was a good, if a bit rushed, ending to this trilogy. I really appreciated the sacrifices the characters made and they felt appropriate and like an actual sacrifice. I really loved the grand finale. If you are looking for a series with fae and strong heroines, this is the one for you.
Prepare to laugh, cry and white knuckle it through this one:
Our now Queen of All Fae, Allie, is taking on the fight of fights against Rubezhal. Allie doesn’t like all that comes with being Queen but she certainly grabs the task when she has to which can be quite comical.
You will see friendships come together in a way even Allie doesn’t expect sometimes. You will find yourself routing for people you didn’t know you could like and happy about those you don’t and, most likely, very happy for those you love. And throw in a snarky land kelpie and you have GOLD!!!
This book is fast paced (but in the best way) and only leaves you wanting more. I expected twists but not to the extent we got. Absolutely amazing form beginning to end. This book has cemented my prior thoughts of a top 20 series to be reread and shared over and over. And to think there is another book!!! I have absolutely NO clue what to expect but I cannot wait to see where this absolutely fantastic world takes us next.
EPIC!!!!!!!! Shannon Mayer and Kelly St. Clare are a seamless writing team.
This was a book I received as an ARC from the author. These thoughts are my own and I received no compensation for the review.
This was so fast paced that it almost didn’t make sense. You would think that it got to the point since the story moved so quickly but it didn’t even do that. It was a huge jumbled mess up until the 93% mark.
Wow, that was certainly a tense and action-packed final book. I'm pretty sure I was filled with anxiety the entire time!
I don't kniw where to start with this review, as too much detail would spoil the events if the first two books, but this starts off where the second finished, with Kallick as an unenthusiastic queen, meaning she is separated from Lan and terrified of the upcoming battle that she just feels she won't be walking away from.
What then follows is a mixture of heart ache, battles, meaningful moments and ultimately, sacrifice.
I think when I'm reading a review of the final book in a series I just want to know if the ending is satisfying, and I have to say that while it is bittersweet, it is fitting and appropriate. We also have the opening for a companion series, so that's always exciting.
I’m not gonna even lie, I totally skim read most of this book.
The description mentions that the writers of this book are for the fans of Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout… Let me just say those are my two favorite authors ever and this series is the complete opposite of anything they would ever write. Holly Black? Yeah maybe I can see that but I’m also not a fan of her works. I probably just provoked the fan base for The Cruel Prince but whatever come at me. 🤷♀️
This entire series is a joke and could’ve been condensed into one book since majority of the time the characters are just going in circles. It’s the same back and forth between the main love interest and childish banter. Most of the plot is rushed whereas other parts are repetitive. No hate to the authors though, their writing is just not for me.
Shannon: ONE LAST THING! See, it's here. Kelly: OMG. You made them come all the way over here?
Shannon: One last thing, I said on the 'not-quite-a-blurb' for book 2. This is book three. The last thing. Get it? Kelly: You know, they probably are wondering what we're up to. (Also that was a terrible joke)
Shannon: I just know that this is probably my favorite cover. Kelly: But the twistiest of the three books.
Shannon: Oh, totally twisty. >Laughing< Kelly: > Snickers < There is going to be a lot of gasping going on.
“The hardest battles are the ones no one sees, pride of my heart.”
Action packed, emotionally charged and a surprising ending. I stumbled across this trilogy on Amazon and I’m so happy I did because I can’t imagine going on without knowing Kallick of No House or the sweet and dark Faolan. Cynth is still the friend we all need in our lives and Drake the character I went backward and forward until finally settling on liking him 🙈 Even the Oracle grew on me by the end of this series 😏 Life is about balance. But how far are you willing to go to find it? NA. 4 stars ⭐️
Very few books these days can shock me, but this one did. I had no idea this is where the series was heading, but I still enjoyed it. I cried, I swore, I almost threw my iPad. In the end, this series was really good. Not my usual type of read, but one I thoroughly enjoyed.
Yeah, I skimmed a lot because going through this book is a pain for me.
This is the final book so I'm kind of looking forward to the conclusion and the final battle but it was.. underwhelming?
Lan and Alli's romance was cringey and I didn't enjoy reading it all. Probably because Lan has no redeeming qualities for me since I dislike him since the first book.
