No rating yet as I'm only halfway through. I literally had to stop to bitch....
It was a great book, then, halfway through River just turns reckless and stupid. And puts herself and the 4 guys in mortal danger.
Her whole identity had become her sister Hannah, It's all Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. Her life and the life of her 4 boyfriends don't matter, cuz, Hannah. I understand loving someone and wanting to protect them, but River acts and thinks like the world starts and ends with Hannah, and no one or nothing else matters. I was really digging River until she turned complete SIMP for her sister. And I fear the last half of this book will be River willing to sacrifice anyone and anything to save Hannah. Why is Hannah's life so much more important than all the others?? It's taking me out of the story.
After The Kings pay a big bag full of money to get River back, she's ready to head right back there to free her sister, because she looked scared and meek. River said she looked healthy and taken care of, and she has obviously survived these years without her , but River doesn't think about anything other than rescuing Hannah. Even at the cost of the Kings. Hannah is the most important person in this book!
And none of the Kings give River shit for all the trouble she caused by sneaking behind their backs , getting taken hostage, and costing them probably hundreds of thousands of dollars to rescue her. She doesn't even have a job and she's a massive liability to these guys and PUSSY CANT BE THAT GOOD TO PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF SHIT.
She's supposed to be their QUEEN, but she acts like a wild card that can't be trusted to have everyone's best interests in mind. She's going to save Hannah , at any cost to anyone else. Period. River is on my last nerve. Oh and the Kings decide to make a deal with Julian to get Hannah back , they make a bad business deal for them! Once again, RIVER DOESNT HAVE A JOB AND IS BLEEDING MONEY OUT OF THEM. And River is so stupid and shortsighted, she doesn't stop to even think about Hannah's child! Hannah probably won't want to leave her son behind, and there's no way Julian is giving up his heir!!! It doesn't even cross her mind!!! Even an innocent child doesn't matter, just as long as River gets Hannah back. Arrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsnsnksndjdndndjdjdndjdjjdjdjdjdjdjdjdjdkdjdjdksks dkeke
Oh ho ho.... WTF....River agreeded to get Hannah back, after the Kings make a horrible business deal with Julian, one that they literally say puts their empire at risk, marries off Knox to Julian's sister, and ALSO AGREED TO LET JULIAN KEEP HIS AND HANNAHS SON!!! Who the fuck does River think she is, does she think Hannah will just leave her son behind??? No offense River, but I feel if Hannah actually had a choice in all this , she would choose her son over you. And another thing, these Kings have had traumatic childhoods, as did River, and NO ONE EVEN LOOKS AT HER SIDEWAYS WHEN SHES WILLING TO LEAVE AN INNOCENT CHILD IN SUCH A TOXIC ENVIRONMENT???!!! River all like *fuck them kids*
I think I'm done with this series, it started out strong but went off the rails halfway through this book. The Kings are making absolutely stupid business decisions, losing probably millions of dollars, marrying one of them off, all for some selfish, reckless, vengeful woman who doesn't care what she has to do or get others to do so she can have her sister back. Ludicrous 🤦♀️.
And to make the revenge plot to avenge Hannah, TWICE, in 3 books, is too much. I don't give a ripe shit about Hannah, or Rivers' only personality trait to be vengenance, like shes fucking BATMAN over here 🦇🦹♀️. There is zero growth in River and the 4 guys completely enable her, they actually become dumber as this story progresse.
I'm super disappointed, this had a ton of potential to be such a great series. It shouldn't have been all about River and her sister drama. It's a fine concept to start the series, but it should have moved on to other plots where you watch River become a Queen and is actually worth of the title.
