For most people the details of the American Revolution, the history of Thanksgiving and the Battle of the Alamo are sketchy at best. However, help is at hand as this entertaining and engaging book contains all the American history you learned at school and promptly forgot and perhaps some of the things you were never taught in the first place.
This was a great book and an easy read for a refresher on US history. I found the flow of the chapters and succinct summary really effective and focused on the core points of each historical event.
An easy, refresher course on (some) American history, I enjoyed this format but was frustrated when it abruptly stopped in the 1970’s. Missing the past 50 years was an odd way to stop.
Even though this book was written in 2009, the history contained in it stopped in 1974. Would have loved to have seen the history covered to have continued until a bit more recently. Otherwise, very solid book. Loved that the history lessons were wrapped up in one page a piece.
for a short and quick book about the us, it wasn’t bad and included quite a few different events that occurred in each era without. wish there was a few more key events and wish that there a bit more detail to the more intricate parts of history. still for someone who wants to get their foot in the door and find a piece of us history they like and want to explore more then this is for you
A very good idea that could have used a little better execution. Some minor errors on a number of pages that should have been caught with a better editor and I would also have liked to see a recommended further reading list.
Some a5 history stories starting in the 1600’s until 1975. Some nice informative stories, especially everything from the 20th century. First part of the book was less interesting. Stories well told explaining the main happenings, but lacking of course detail since all stories are 1 pagers.
Great way to learn about US history in a digestible and interesting manner. I find myself constantly sharing new “fun facts” I learned in social and professional situations, becoming a more dynamic individual.
An excellent break down of basic U.S. history. It should be mandatory for all citizens to read this book to better understand the history of the United States.
This is a great book if you’re looking to dive into American history. It provides enough insight to help you understand why the world is the way it is today.
