My body is my weapon. My destiny is my burden.

I didn’t get parents or prom. Instead I got a pack of overprotective werewolves all up in my business.

Hunters are after all of us, that’s not new. But I’m the gold prize, the one they really want to take out.
The future of all werewolves depends on me. How lucky.

A normal life was never in the cards. I’m not even allowed to leave my pack’s territory.
And guys? With so few to choose from, that wasn’t an option.

Then Bruno comes out of nowhere. He’s here for a meeting with our alpha.

He doesn’t expect me.

I thought I understood my fate. It was fixed, never changing.

I was wrong.

* The Rocky Mountain Pack series is gritty, sexy, and action-packed paranormal shifter romance.

* Wolf Bonds is a full-length novel recommended for mature readers due to language, sexual situations, and graphic fighting scenes.

Quick(ish) Review

This is definitely a “your mileage may vary” type of read. It’s a true cliffhanger which I didn’t realize when I borrowed it or I wouldn’t have as I loathe cliffhangers. There’s promise of some interesting developments in the story but there was also a lot of passages that felt redundant and like time killers to get you to the big cliffy at the end.

The romance is pretty sparse, with like two scenes of UST and that’s it. I had to rate it lower because this is a story that’s so unfinished I felt no satisfaction at the end of this installment. But if cliffhanger PNR is your jam, you may enjoy it more than I did.

We don’t talk about Bruno

This book is very disappointing. At a critical moment in the exposition the fmc and her narrative voice “zones out”. All of the other characters react with shock to the big reveal and her response is “durp’a’dur, wha’d I miss?”. Considering the author already deviated from the fmc’s narrative voice to add a clunky chapter told from the perspective of the villain detailing her nefarious plans regarding the fmc, I could not possibly care less about the clones or experiments or immortals or whosiwhatsis.

The dialogue is bad.
The characters are bad.
The plot is bad.

The rampant ableism in the first chapter is a bit yikes (starting a book with 'should we kill this person because they might be severely disabled after a fall'). There are so many layers of ableism and also playing god at work here and it is frankly uncomfortable. Hoping the rest of the book is better.

Okay and now chapter two is talking about the Kama Sutra which white people *really* need to stop using as a way to just say that people were having certain types of sex.

Gonna have to DNF this as that is far too many problems so quickly.

First book

This book told about Naya, a werewolf, who supposedly carries the blood of an old, pure wolf shifter line. She has been hidden in her pack her whole life. Now, the pack faces danger, from hunters, immortals, and maybe mages. The Packs are working together against the danger and it turns out her unknown past is tangled up in this. This book ends on a cliff hanger and the plot really doesn’t advance much the whole book. I still am interested in the secrets being revealed, but don’t feel particularly connected to any of the characters.

This is a a fast paced, action packed and intriguing read that once you pick up you will not want to put it down! The world building is great and the characters relatable and the storyline has a gripping plot with twists and turns and a few surprises to keep you hooked. I look forward to what comes next!

DNF

I did not finish this book. The writing was very choppy and chaotic, and the plot didn't make sense. The book starts out with an innocent women being killed by supposed "good guys" as a mercy killing. The actual villain of the story shows up a little bit later and divulges way too much information in the very beginning of the book. Skip this one.

She's their salvation - the future of all werewolves. So Naya must be protected, and if that means living inside a protective bubble under the watch of the pack, so be it. But when an emergency meeting is held to discuss new dangers, everything changes. He comes to the meeting. Bruno. Her world shifts. Everything she thought she knew changes. There's more going on than anyone knew. Naya is not the only one.

Not sure what to say. This story is choppy and disorganized, but the overall idea is a good one. It needs a bit of focus to keep on track. I would have liked to tweak the characters and relationships. I don't like how Naya's mind drifts, even during critical moments. That's not the strong heroine I want. Also, the love story didn't work for me. I felt no connection between Bruno and Naya. Each time he would profess his dedication towards finding her and skirt around his deepening feelings, the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" would break out in my mind. A pretty clear sign I wasn't taking them seriously as a couple. The only relationship I liked was Naya and Max. I could have gotten behind them as a couple if the author hadn't chosen a parental relationship instead. It ends in a cliffhanger that seems to be moving the story in a new direction. I'm not sure I will be following.

‘Wolf Bonds’ is book one in Lucia Ashta’s Rocky Mountain Pack series.

Naya is the last of her Wolf line and as such must be protected if Werewolves have a chance at surviving. With the threat of hunters the packs must come together to figure out how to defend and defeat them. When Bruno the Beta from another pack comes as the liaison for his pack Naya’s secret is going to come to light but there is more to it.

Another great fast paced, intriguing and highly addictive book by Lucia Ashta. I read this book in one sitting, I was that absorbed in it.

A strong female mc that is surrounded by alpha males but doesn’t cower to them. A smexy male mc that will have you drooling over leather, abs, and a motorcycle.

I loved seeing Zasha & Quannah making appearances. If you haven’t read Smoky Mountain Pack then I highly recommend doing so before hand, but not necessary. If you are familiar with Ms Ashta’s writing you know she likes to have her books/series/worlds interconnected with different characters., and that is no different with this world. The SMP follows Zasha & Quannah story, so if you are interested about them I say go for it you won’t be disappointed.

A excellent start to this series and I can’t wait to see what is in store for our mc in the following books.

I don't know how Lucia manages to do this every single time: she creates these worlds that intertwine with characters that are fascinating as individuals and in how they play off of each other and these intricate plots that keep the reader engaged from the first page to the very last, even when your heart is palpitating on a cliffy.

In this new series,  we meet Naya and her pack. We also get to say "Hello" to Zacha and Q again which I absolutely adored! Nothing beats being able to see your favourite characters in a new environment and interacting with new characters!

Dr Seus said it best when he spoke about the places we'd go and the things we would see and it's a perfect description of what reading a Lucia Ashta book is like.

Do I wish that there had been a bit more advancement or development in this first book? Yes, I kinda hoped for something big to take place in this book, even though it is the first book.
But while I do wish for that, I did enjoy this introduction to the new series and new characters and the unknowns and intrigue, knowing that Lucia always brings it, has me frothing at the bit for the next installment!

This was the first book I've read if Lucía's and I'M HOOKED!
Naya is passionate, sassy, crass, sexy, and so driven. She is trapped within her adopted pack for her own safety because she is being hunted - not like the rest of the shifters, but because she's a werewolf and carries the genes of her species.
Her best friend Clove has no filter and instead of running through the forest like the other wolf shifters, she flies through the trees. These two are definitely a ride-or-die duo who clash at times but love each other fiercely.
And then we have Bruno - the super sexy beta from another pack whose wolf calls to Naya's. Their chemistry is undeniable and potentially explosive. But, with Bruno comes news that shocks her alpha and rocks Naya's world.
The story is told from Naya's, Bruno's, and then Cassia's points-of-view.
As one of the immortals, Cassia has her own interest in Naya's life. And over the centuries of her life, she has built her own type of kingdom and has left her fair share of bodies behind.
Definitely recommend.

Okay, fellow fantasy aficionados - look alive! Lucia Ashta has a new series - Rocky Mountain Pack - and the first book, Wolf Bonds, is a compelling, glorious, tangled web of mystery and fantasy! Ask yourself these questions: 1. Do you like Colorado? 2. Do you long for the Rocky Mountains? 3. Do you enjoy crazy, tree climbing, no filter best friends? Do you adore fantasy journeys that sprinkle in a little immortal, a ton of shifter, a hefty amount of vampire, and... rock climbing? If you answered yes to any (ALL) of these questions, then begin this series without delay. Meet Naya, orphaned as an infant and adopted into the Rocky Mountain Pack; her lineage makes her blood the possible savior to all shifters, and therefore, protected by all the wolves to within an nth degree of her sanity... but what happens when Naya's history begins to unravel? The very foundation of her place in the shifter community is called into question!

I really enjoyed this book. A great start to the series, the story was well thought out, brilliantly written and the characters were fantastically developed with great chemistry. The narration was perfect for this story, gave life and depth to the characters with brilliant accents and fantastic personalities. The excitement, action and mystery of the story were also increased by the story narration which was great to listen to and easy to follow. I was on the edge of my seat and listened in one sitting, I could not put it down.
A great start to a paranormal shifter romance series, a gripping storyline filled with magic, mystery, intrigue, deception, action, enemies, friendship, romance, obstacles to overcome, plenty of blind twists and a fantastic ending making you want to pick up the next book. I cannot wait to find out what happens next as the series continues.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Definitely a fated new couple.

Twisted tale of hunters, lies and deceit. Bruno is sex walking. Strong, rugged, and drop dead gorgeous! He brings out Nayas' mouthy wild side. She knows she shouldn't poke the bear, but something inside her can't stop. Nayas loves to test the waters. After learning how she's grown up I can't blame her. How she doesn't go stir crazy is beyond me! She grew up being told that her parents were killed by hunters. That her blood was special. She needed to be protected or the werewolf species could go extinct. However, that whole story has holes in it. When she finds out through Bruno that she has a sister. You have to read this spin off of Zasha and Quannah!

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

Wow this book went in a direction that I defiantly did not expect. Lucia Ashta is a new author to me & she has really created an epic world in this book. Bridget & Jake Bordeaux do an amazing job of bringing this story to life. Seriously, some of the accents that they due for this dual narrated audiobook is chefs kiss.

This shifter paranormal romance has such a different take on shifters & others in the paranormal world then I have seen in other stories. There is sadly no heat in this book, but I have high hopes for future books. But even without direct steamy scenes between the two main characters, there is still plenty of build up in this book. Naya & Bruno have some serious chemistry, even for just meeting.

I definitely will be starting book 2 asap!

Lucia is such a good storyteller

Lucia Ashta is a such a good story teller. I thoroughly enjoyed her previous series The Smoky Mountain Pack and you get to visit with some familiar characters in this book. Thr only reason I gave it 4 stats is because for some reason I couldn't really get into the story but that isn’t because the author wrote a bad book. This is one of those cliche` "It's not you, it's me" moments. This book is a great story and it is told really well. There was a lot of character and story build and not enough character interaction FOR ME. A lot of people will really enjoy this book and I plan on reading the second book.

Not the best.

The book started off well, then went off at a tangent.
There is a lot of repeated dialogue, admitted worded differently, and you have a mix of werewolf and mages and vampires and wolf shifters.
The story moves along slowly, and by the time you get to the end of the book, you have more questions than answers.
A new character appears a couple of pages from the end, everyone unconscious, the new guy walking off and that is the end.
WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME.
You have read it, no conclusion, no answers.
Less than half a book, CLIFFHANGERS should be banned.

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the first part of the Rocky Mountains Pack series, the books should be read in order. Although it's not necessary I suggest to read the Smoky Mountains Pack series first.
This is another great fast paced story by Lucía Ashta full of magic, surprises and sexual tension. I love, love, love that with her books you never know what awaits you around the next corner.
I also love to read about the characters of her other series. For me this is like meeting old friends I haven't seen in a while.
Can't wait for the next part.

Heart pounding and a quick read

Naya grew up believing she was the sole surviving bloodline of werewolves. She was to be protected and kept safe. Naya fought, trained and kept herself in peak performance. She wasn't allowed outside pack territory. She did go outside, but only a few miles away. She felt confined. She was an expert cliff climber. Her whole pack loved extreme sports, anything outdoors. They had a huge business doing exactly that. Trouble was, she wasn't the sole bloodline. Dark magic, hunters and immortals were attacking the paranormal community.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the first book in the Rocky Mountain Pack series. Nia has been hidden away from society outside of the Rocky Mountain wolf pack. Only the Alpha knows of her origins. She thought she was the last werewolf out there. But when the neighboring wolf packs come to discuss the resent attacks. Nia’s life changes in a blink of an eye. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Things are about to get crazier in Nia’s life. Bridget and Jake Bordeaux did a fantastic job narrating this book.

This is the 1st book I've read by Lucia Ashta and I am happy I have.
The story is fast paced and intriguing enough to keep you turning the pages until you realize.....your on the last page and completely forgot to sleep. The characters are well developed and I really liked Cassie. I'm glad there is more to come in this series. I can't wait to read the next one. Highly recommended!

Fantastic!!! 🐺🤩
Unputdownable, well written installment, with an original and twisted plot, great world building and awesome characters 😍
The plot surprised me pleasantly, it sucked me in since the first chapter, I didn't want to stop, but didn't want the book to be over either, I enjoyed it so much 🤗
Now, I can’t wait for the next book to release, I'm so intrigued and need answers 😁
Also, love crossovers and can't wait to read who else will appear in the next books 💕

Naya is the last of her line of wolf or at least her and her pack thought. Looks like Naya may have a twin. The characters are all likeable, ok maybe not Kasha but I liked Naya most, such a tough chick. I had such high hopes of Naya with Bruno. I enjoyed reading this book, it was fun and fast, it grabs your attention immediately. There is so much going on in this book, it makes me want book 2 now. I highly recommend this book.

what an entrance

I couldn't believe how this book opens :-0 It was surprising but I guess it worked for its intended purpose. I enjoy the story line! I was really taken in by the characters! but there is this one particular point that pulled me out of the story, so I have to rate it 3.75*. Maybe 3.5. It is worth the read! I definetly recommend you try it and decide for yourself. I'm looking forward to the sequel so I can see what happens with the big bad!

bonded

A great start to a new series called Rocky Mountain Pack. Book 1 Wolf Bonds is confusing to begin and near the end snippets of what’s to come begins to make sense. An interesting cliffhanger which leaves the reader wondering what will happen next with a need to read the next book. Might be a trigger for those who might have been through some trauma but remember it’s just a fiction story. Highly recommended for readers who like this genre

I intended to give this 5 stars. At 65% I almost abandoned the book because zero progress was happening with the plot.
The 4 stars are mostly for the hope I had half way through. Without a major spoiler, I’m comfortable saying that I don’t understand why authors expect readers to care about or be able to relate to sheltered, oblivious female characters. I don’t care enough to keep reading after the cliffhanger ending.

Wow,this is one amazing book. I kept me glued to the page. When things start to go crazy Naya has some major surprises. Will Naya ever be the same? She learns some things that shocks her to the core. She is a firecracker that will find fight for what she believes in. A must read!!!!

Things aren’t always as they seem and every time you look something changes. I enjoyed this audiobook. The story line is intriguing and there are a few surprises along the way. This shorter listen is was just the perfect amount of time for a day at work with breaks and interruptions. :)

Narrators killed it. They took so many accents and threw them into this book amazingly.

This was a wild situation, body swapping, immortals with evil grudges and a mated pair that can now live their lives without the burden on saving a race if they can survive the machinations of vampires, hunters and mages. Naya and Meiling are kick azz warriors but Naya also has the mountain climbing skills that are necessary. I love the ending and really like best friend Chloe!!

Intrigue, sass, and immortals

10 out of 10 recommend. This book is so different from the usual wolf shifter books. The writer is amazing at character development and her writing style makes her books more enjoyable to read.
