A brutal murder. A friend in jeopardy. A steadfast sleuth.
When a new cold case initiative is launched, cab driver and grave digger Will Peters could never know just how close he is to one of the crimes committed nearly twenty years ago.
A man ferociously beaten to death in a derelict shoe factory soon becomes the focus of his unwavering attention.
Hi, I'm Linda Coles and I write British crime novels. #GreatBritishCrime. #BritishCrimeDrama
An English woman myself, I now reside in New Zealand with my husband, 1 cat and 6 wonderful goats. Google Earth and two UK based editors ensure I keep my stories and language, accurate. I’m the author of 17 books including four non-fiction and two of a very different genre published under a pen name.
I currently have three different series published:
Detectives Jack Rutherford and Amanda Lacey set in Croydon, south London.
Private investigator Chrissy Livingstone set in the upmarket areas of Surrey.
Amateur sleuth, mini-cab driver and part-time grave digger Will Peters, set in the Midlands.
There’s something for everyone!
A #1 Amazon bestselling author, I’ve been writing since 2011
A full-time writer, I also write newsletter content for accountants across the country, something to ‘cleanse my palette on’ and the polar opposite of dead bodies on the other side of the world. My claims to fame include having a cuddle with Lee Child, sharing a New York cab with Heather Graham, and interviewing Karen Slaughter as a podcast guest.
My latest book and series, Where There’s a Will is the first in a trilogy and sees Will Peters insert himself into the investigation of a young homeless man found dead in the woods. There’s a message written on his chest: Your Move. With the help of some of his elderly mini-cab customers, the unlikely group endeavor to solve the case, any way they can. With a serious message, it’s often amusing. Think Man on the Street and Thursday Murder Club rolled into one. I know you’ll enjoy it.

This was a compelling read, that I found I did not want to put down! Great, multi-faceted characters. Very interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. Suspenseful and thrilling. I felt every emotion. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. Simply a GREAT read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Linda Coles never disappoints, the storyline, a cold case presents an interesting investigation by the sleuthing friends, great twists and a real dilemma. Parts of the investigation towards the end were, I found harrowing to read but necessary to add context to the plot. I’m certainly looking forward to their next case.
This book was definitely worth waiting for! I loved the first in the Will Peters series. Though it wasn’t all that long, it felt as if it was forever for the second visit with Will and his fascinating friends. I highly recommend this series. There are lots of possibilities for solving the puzzles and plenty of possible culprits. And yet, there are also surprises at the end.
I enjoyed this suspenseul story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters. They are connectable and kept me turning pages fast. They took the twists and turns to a new level. They have great growth throughout the story as well as kept me coming back for more. I enjoyed how the author's writing skills brought the story to life on each page. Their attention to detail made the story realistic. This is a story that is full of action, murder and crimes from the past. This is a great entertaining story that is easy to read. I highly recommend this book.
I'm so disappointed with this book! It's not often that I don't complete a story once I've started it, no matter how poor I perceive it to be, but this one, I called in at the 50% mark! Did I read a different version to the 4 & 5* reviews on here? For me, it lacked depth & substance.. it felt more like a Peter & Jane ladybird book, for anybody not old enough to remember them, they are for nursery children, just starting out on their vocabulary & reading experiences! The author lacked creativity, and her writing style was bland and unimaginative.
Will is drawn into a cold case investigation alongside his friend in the police and investigates a brutal murder committed locally. A lot of his friends and acquaintances are drawn into the proceedings and he finds out some unsavoury details whereby the case is better left cold. The relief centre gets new showers so some good comes of it, let sleeping dogs lie is the best policy sometimes. Nice story rolls along and keeps you interested in Will and his friends and family.
An absolute conundrum of a story. Will Peter's, whilst almost one of your everyday taxi drivers, gets heavily involved with a very old and unsolved, to date, cold case from 20 years before. The more he delves into the case the more perplexing it becomes for him. He gradually, with some help from good friends, becomes more aware of the circumstances of the crime but then he has the dilemma of possibly convicting a good friend for a 20 year old murder.
Two sleuths involved investigating the same cold case but working independently and not sharing information. One solves the case but doesn't share his findings.
Great character development. As the reader, you'll have to be the judge to the question of "is justice served?"
Thanks to Linda Coles for an entertaining story with no graphic violence, no deplorable sexual activity and no foul language.
I read the whole book but wasn't impressed by it. There was too many characters, I couldn't keep straight. A cab driver was helping the police trying to solve a twenty year old murder. The cab driver solved the mystery but the people who were involved in the murder didn't want him to tell the police because it involved a paedophile who was about to rape a child. The child's parents wanted it to remain a secret.
The main characters were delightful and lovable. But I don’t want to read about human depravity when I can see it in every day life! And I especially don’t want to read about child abuse. I doubt if I’ll read another Coles mystery since this one caught me completely off guard.
Truly interesting. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. The role of a cab driver is believable and intricately woven throughout the story. The plot turns are believable and the ending is very different than the usual crime story. usual ending of a crime story!
The plot develops at a very slow pace. There is unnecessary repetition and too much time spent in Will's head. The plot is poor and unlikely, such extreme violence is not excusable and a normally non-violent person would not inflict that much damage. It has dual narrators but just abandons one at the end and doesn't finish off his side of the investigation.
Entire pages were left out of the electronic edition of this book. Words, letters, pages, all left out. I downgraded a star simply because of the editing or lack thereof.
The story, however, is a good story. The author does a good job of tying all the characters together into the ending.
This was a great story. The plot kept my interest and the characters were well thought out. It was so refreshing to read a story with main characters who have good values! Thanks for doing that.
Will is a very caring man, not j7ust his family but those around him. He a bit Margaret Rutherford in his snopping to around . Well written i enjoyed this book immensely ❤
Kindle Unlimited Will Peters Three Book Set What Will Be is the second of the Will Peters series, and is a delicious British mystery tale. Will, his homeless shelter volunteer friends, and Will's lovely family are involved in researching a local crime that dates back to 1998, which is part of a cold case being brought forward by the local coppers to see if modern familial DNA would help find the party responsible for this horrific murder in an old shut-down leather factory, which has been dormant all these years but is soon to be rehabbed into efficiency apartments. Will is hopeful that the truth will out, Or he was before it all began. A LOT was going on in 1998. How will justice be best served? REVIEWED on July 29, 2024, at Goodreads, AmazonSmile, Barnes&Noble, BookBub, and Kobo. Also posted to the Will Peters Three Book Set at Goodreads. The trilogy is not added to my annual count, only the individual novels.
A cold case from 1998 is being reviewed. That of the murder of convicted criminal Glen Morrison. But it is not just the police who are investigating but Will Peters. An enjoyable modern mystery
