Angela J. Ford, your books keep on surprising me!😍
I LOVED this one. So much. It was a tale of Evie Mor finding herself and growing into who she is and what that might mean. It felt almost like Lord of the Rings (okay, I’m halfway through that audiobook, so don’t hate me for saying it, I know that it’s a big deal to compare something to it. But Evie’s quest felt so similar to me!). The world and the quest were so fun to me! I loved it. Evie was a bit annoying in the beginning of the story to me, but only because she was naive and so untried. She is a quick learner and she learns to deal with conflict like a true leader.
I got this audiobook free from the author but this opinion is completely my own. I bought the physical book anyway! I loved it and it comes highly recommended by me. I cannot wait to start the next one! I just wish it had an audiobook too!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it didn’t seem to drag on at all in parts that most books do, which allowed it to keep my attention. I loved the main character and I was rooting for her all through the book. I loved how action packed it was as well. Overall, there wasn’t much that I didn’t like about this book. I can’t wait to read the next one!
There was nothing wrong with the story, however I found that I lost interest in the characters and plot.
The author is brilliant at world building and her descriptions are always eloquent and lush, I found for me there was a lot of internal monologue that stalled the pace of the plot and subsequently my interest levels.
I would not discourage people from reading it as it is a solid work of fantasy with lots of mythical creatures, abundant world building, and strong immersive words that people will fall in love with, personally this book was not for me.
Lets star with why I gave 4 stars: *Spoilers* At first the book started very slow. There was many things explained and visualized for us. Visualization part was really long for me. It get a little boring sometimes in my opinion. I know its best for us the readers but in every place she went inside there was 2 pages long descriptions of the people, trees, stones even the sky. So prepare yourselfs for lots of imagination! As for the adventure part. *Spoilers* This is my first book from the author so I dont know if this is her style but everytime there was long walking I was waiting for a little romantic action but the walking parts were just passed in a sentence. They had to walk for a week for example and it was written like 'we walked for a week.' Now the amazing parts: Evie had many, I mean many action filled encounters that this book could have been easily separated into two books already. Exciting!. So I am really curious about the next book in the series. The whole vibe of the book reminded me so much of The Lord of the Rings. The elven courts, magneficent elf queen, magic, fairies, dwarfs, trolls, the kingdom of men, I mean it was amazing! We followed Evie throughout of her journey to find herself, her mission and her fate. It was a good ride and the ending wanted me to ask for more! Lets talk about the ending. *Spoilers* HEAVY SPOILERS. Angela camon you cant do this to me :(. I was %90 percent of the book and you changed the love interest! I was just starting to love Romulus. I was getting the 'They will fight and then make up' vibes from them. Honestly I kind of was expecting because of the very long description of the handsome blue nephilim. (Let me give you a secret: I read one of the ICP books before this and I went of a bit there:)) But you got me! You did!. Now I need second book ASAP Please! :) Thank you

The last 2 chapters were kind of a disappointment. With certain character deaths and the way it all just completely ended in the last chapter. It built up fine at first but then came to a sudden drop and crash of disappointment. And I ended up having more questions than answers by the end.
I did, however, like the concept and most of the plot. I loved that it was a lost princess who was raised to be a warrior, even if in the beginning she was a coward and not much of a warrior. She did grow into it and become better with both magic and fighting and gained more courage. And I like that this is going to be a slow burn romance. Although book 1 doesn't have romance in it, the last page of the book started one. So I'm assuming book 2 will have much more of the romance in it.
There was a lot going on in the book that leaves a reader with way more questions than necessary, it's still a good read.
I really liked all the mythical creatures and characters and the story was cute. I did have some issues with the writing though, there were a lot of contradictory sentences that made picturing the scene very difficult like “Adomos was both there and not there as we traveled deeper into the woods”. I’m not sure what that really means and that happened quite a bit throughout the book and also some word choices in some sentences didn’t really make sense to me. I liked the world building but lost interest often and writing was hard to follow in some parts.
Angela Ford has once again created an amazing world filled with amazing characters. The story draws you in and you never want to leave. I look forward to the next book in the series to find out what more amazing things the author has in store!

There wasn't anything wrong with this story, but it wasn't for me. It was a tad darker and more violent than what I prefer, but it is a solid adventure story for people who enjoy grittier questing-type stories.

A warrior princess is on a quest to save the human kingdom from the angel of death after living in a magical forest and being raised by centaurs. She may be flawed, but she has a heart for helping people.
Story is filled with character development and growth. Beautiful world building.
