The three year romance between Rosalina and Archer was destined to fail – Archer was keeping secrets from Rosa as well as suffering horrendous nightmares most nights. He wouldn’t talk about them; nor would he discuss his past. Rosa had had enough – after one particularly nasty argument, she packed up all her belongings and hightailed it from Sydney back to her home in Italy. Her heart was broken, but she knew it was for the best.
But one thing led to another and eight months later Archer was flying to Italy from Australia, while his mate Jimmy sailed Archer’s luxury yacht to the Greek Islands where they would eventually meet up. Archer’s search for answers to a mystery which had eaten into his life for the past twenty years was suddenly given a much sought after clue, and by Rosa no less. So accompanied by her long-time friend Alessandro, she joined Archer on Evangeline to hopefully solve the problem, with Jimmy and the chef, Ginger also on board.
As they island hopped, searching all the while, Archer didn’t let his guard down – with evil close behind, Archer knew they would stop at nothing to beat him in solving the 700 year old mystery. But would Archer at last find peace from the tragedy of his past? And would they manage to solve the mystery and stay safe?
Treasured Secrets by Aussie author Kendall Talbot was absolutely nothing like I expected it to be! The cover picture led me to believe it would be a romance – yes there was some romance involved, but much more intrigue and suspense rippled through the story than I had imagined. I loved it! Gripping and intense, it was hard to put down. I was totally involved and can’t wait to read the next in the series, Treasured Lies. Highly recommended.
A couple of years ago I read Kendall’s award winning debut novel Lost in Kakadu and really enjoyed it. So I was overjoyed when she contacted me and asked if I would like to read her latest release. TREASURED SECRETS is promoted as romantic suspense, and while it certainly does have romance in it –the focus is on the edge of the seat adventure that drives the story from beginning to end. The story opens with Rosalina and Archer splitting up after a 3 year relationship – night after night Archer suffers from a horrific nightmare about the day his father died, the dream has him screaming and waking Rosalina up. But he won’t tell Rosalina what happened, or even what the dream is about. When she pushes for more information he tells her that they are parting as she deserves a better life without him in it. Archer doesn’t believe he is worthy of love. She returns broken hearted to Italy – he immerses himself in his yacht charter business. Months later when visiting an ancient church with her historian expert friend, Rosalina sees something in a painting that reminds her of something Archer owns – and she is attacked by a monk when she tries to look closer at the painting. She sends a message to Archer telling him what she has seen not expecting any response. Imagine her shock when he turns up on her doorstep in Italy a few days later. It is not long after this that the two of them, and their friends, are plunged into treasure hunt that will eventually lead to a fight for their lives. Secrets are revealed, history is uncovered and friendships – and love – are finally forged.
Both Rosalina and Archer are such real characters and come alive on the pages – totally believable yet by no means perfect. The background takes us from Australia to the Greek islands via Italy and the descriptions of the places they visit left me wanting more. The villain of the piece was a truly horrible, evil, creepy and truly unlikable person.
TREASURED SECRETS has it all – romance, action, adventure, danger and the occasional glass of wine.
With thanks to Escape Publishing and the author via Netgalley for my copy to read and review.
Drama. Intrigue. Romance. Mystery. Treasure hunting! This edge of the seat action packed thriller has it all and more! I can't wait to read what happens next!!
An Aussie Treasure Hunter with deep dark secrets, a feisty Italian gourmet cook, and a conniving monk who are all in a race for a sunk treasure. Oh yes! I had to read this one. I already enjoyed a previous adventure by this author so I dove right in.
The story opens when Rosalina lays down an ultimatum to Archer. They have been together for three years with him running his treasure hunting business and Rosalina the cook on his yacht. Rosalina knows Archer has secrets and it hurts her that after all this time, he won't open up and trust her. Archer sees the frustration in Rosalina and knew the time would come that he would have to end things with her because he doesn't deserve love after what happened in his past. He loves her just as she loves him, but he silently watches her leave.
It has been several months and Rosalina has returned home to Italy where she is just going through the motions. Right about the time, she decides to move on with her interested childhood friend, she makes a discovery in a church that may or may not be a clue to Archer's past. She angrily contacts him and that brings him to her. She has inadvertently set in motion the hunt for a 700 year old treasure. Archer's arrival frustrates her because she still loves him, but is determined not to let him break her heart again. Archer has learned what it is to live with a huge lonely hole in his heart with the loss of Rosalina so he will use this hunt to be his chance to win her back.
Archer and Rosalina aren't the only two in the hunt. Nox, a dark and determined nemesis, is determined to have the treasure and will ruthlessly do whatever it takes to get it. He lurks in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to strike. Archer's quest is about more than the treasure and is a personal journey to lay aside the ghosts of his past. He will do whatever it takes to protect those on his team and stop Nox.
This one begins dramatically with a scene from Archer's past showing the horrific event that has shaped him and made him the way he is. Then it moves to another dramatic scene where the lovers separate. It was interesting having the story begin with a break-up because at that point I wasn't vested in the characters so I didn't feel the impact of their parting. I hate break-ups so I was actually okay with that.
The next part of the story was my least favorite because Rosalina and Archer took turns driving me nuts ironing out their issues. Mostly it was Rosalina blowing hot and cold because Archer closed her out of his past and let her walk away. She jumped to conclusions that he thought little of her because he wouldn't spill his guts and he let guilt create a barrier to his own happiness. Even after he came clean, she continued a love triangle situation that brought another guy's feelings into play when she knew full well that she was just using him as a buffer against Archer.
But then things got going when the race for the treasure took over. I loved how the author wove in the hunt for the answers to Archer's past with the treasure hunt and in turn, the romance grew and heated up as well. I was fully engaged at this point and loved the build of excitement and the increased pace. There were some good twists. The story wrapped up nicely, but left me eager to continue the series, hopefully with more treasure hunts.
On a side note, this is also a foodie lover's story. Rosalina's food had me licking my lips and made me soooo hungry. The author wrote a companion recipe book to this story with all the recipes.
All in all, it was an exciting, delightful treasure hunt romance. I loved the international settings including the time on Archer's luxury yacht. The romance is steamy and the partnership of treasure hunters was a fun crew. Contemporary Romance fans might want to give this a go.
My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
The thing that most excited me about Treasured Secrets was the adventure. And wow, was there adventure! We get to visit Australia first and then we move on to Italy where we see some gorgeous scenery before moving to the Greek Islands where I could clearly picture the gorgeous ocean water and the islands themselves. I can only dream of visiting there one day myself. One of my biggest dreams. The adventure is fantastic of course, with racing from one place to another trying to discover more clues relating to the treasure they are seeking. There’s some twists and turns regarding some characters they meet and some places they visit. It kept me fully captivated and reading as quickly as possible! The characters are also really great. I had first worried about the drama regarding the romance but while there’s some ‘issues’ it is never overly dramatic and it was surprising how well behaved and grown up the characters acted. There’s a lot of history between some of them while others were strangers. The way they work together to find the treasure was something I found myself really admiring about them. Sure, there’s romance drama but it’s just so light considering the situation. I was really glad and grateful for this because it would have distracted from the rest of the story. I was thoroughly impressed with how the author made these characters so complex and flawed but yet still mature at the same time. Not only that but they were all so easy to like. There were moments when each of them frustrated me, but I genuinely liked them and understood those moments they weren’t at their best. I love a good adventure, especially with a lot of travel involved and this one has a fun mystery that was also full of intense moments and danger. It was hard to put down and I can’t wait for more!
Treasured Secrets about Archer and Rosalina who found love for the second time. One morning Archer waking up from another nightmare decided it would be best for Rosalina to break up. Rosalina was unhappy but accepted the decision and went back to Italy. However, Archer starts to miss Rosalina and begins to plan to get her back. The readers of Treasured Secrets will follow Archer to see if he wons Rosalina again and see if they find treasure.
Treasured Secrets is the first book I have read of Kendall Talbot, and at first, I was not sure if I would like it. However, after finishing the first couple of chapters, I fell in love with the book. I love the way Kendall Talbot describes scuba diving it made me feel like getting into my gear and go scuba diving myself. Kendall Talbot does a great job of portraying her characters and entwines them with each other. I like Kendall Talbot description of her plot and settings.
The readers of Treasured Secrets will learn the importance of communications between partners. Also, The Treasured Secrets highlights some of the consequences of childhood trauma on a person. The readers of Treasured Secrets will start to understand the role of Treasure Hunters.
Treasured Secrets by Kendall Talbot is entertaining as it is dramatic and intense. The characters have their own traits but all grab readers with their dialogue. Archer’s cold, distant approach in the first pages while Rosalina was caring and loyal. Both strong characters, but both have their challenges. Alessandro’s character was just laugh-out-loud funny and his conversations with Archer will have readers rapt. Nox's character was just unhinged in his pursuit of the treasure. Adventure and chaos follow the groups treasure chasing. Finding the clues and trying to work out where Archer had dived with his father all those years ago uncovers so many secrets and mysteries for Archer. Situations have Archer and Rosalina’s unresolved feelings resurfacing – much to the delight of readers. An adventure of a read with many twists and turns in the story that entertains readers. 4 stars *ARC received from the author/publisher via Netgalley
From the opening scene through to the very last page, Talbot presents an edge-of-your-seat adventure driven story of love, lust, facing your past and embracing your future.
Rosalina is a strong, genuine character who is adventurous, independent and at times mischievous—all wonderful character traits that make for an entertaining read and made her instantly likeable. Archer is the perfect male equivalent and offers much strength not only to the story but to Rosalina’s character also.
I loved the depth of detail given by Talbot in describing every aspect of the story—from character descriptors through to scenery, landscape and emotions. Talbot’s ability to weave detail seamlessly into the storytelling plants you firmly inside the story and invests you into the story line effortlessly.
A must-read romance that spans Australia, Italy, and the Greek Isles and proves that love, true love, knows no boundaries.
I loved to read the story about Rosalina and Archer. They were together but their relationship ended and she went home to Italy. But their story is not finished...they will try to discover the secret that is bothering Archer for years... I had to finish it in almost one sitting, just because I had to read the next page to see what will happen next. It is not a romance book, yes there is a romance but it is more intrigue and suspense that will make hard to put the book down, just like it was case for me
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I have to be truthful, I was definitely expecting more romance. However, I really enjoyed this book. It was reminiscent of Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code and written extremely well. The characters are realistic and believable. There was lots of action and intrigue. I was drawn in from the beginning. This story is the first in a series. It has a HFN ending.
As a stereotypical male who swore never to be in the same room with a romance novel, I confess to being enhralled with Kendall tTalbot's books. She has stunnigly depicted my favorite activities: scuba diving in this book , skiing and mountaineering in "Extreme Limits", and of course the most important of all, the one that publishers label as romance but which usually is known by a 3-letter word ending in X.
Treasured Secrets by Kendall Talbot narrates the adventurous love story of Rosalina and Archer. Rosalina and Archer have been together for three years and completely in love but despite their love for each other, there are secrets between them. Secrets like why Archer has the same nightmare each night which always leaves him sweaty and screaming, why he doesn't want to share his frightening dream and his past with Rosalina and why he is lying to her!
Their life takes a turn when Archer asks her to leave when Rosalina asks him about his dream. Heartbroken, she returns to Italy but is unable to forget him. Months later while visiting a church, Rosalina spots an old painting showing the same locket that Archer wears and is so mysterious about. What is it?
It is with this unexpected visit to the church that life changes for Rosalina and in turn, for Archer. Thrown in a 700 year old mystery, their love is tested. Will they come together again or is their love a thing of the past?
I picked up, Treasured Secrets by Kendall Talbot because of the blurb which intrigued me with a mystery, suspense, adventure and finally, a romance. With all my favourite ingredients, the cover showing a quaint setting with promise of exotic locales had me picking up this book to read.
While I had hoped a "glued-to-my-seat" story, I was somewhat disappointed with the book. Firstly, I could not understand why Archer was so adamant to keep the secret and thought that it would be something big but when the secret was unveiled, well, I didn't find anything worth breaking your love over. Secondly, the love triangle among Archer, Rosalina and her friend in Italy is weak and for sometime I kept hoping for fireworks here with two men fighting for their love but this didn't happen. The professor kept professing his love for Rosalina but then easily let her go like all his previous proclamations of love were nothing! Thirdly, Rosalina is shown to be living with her Nana in Italy but when Archer arrives, not even once is there a confrontation between him and Nana. How is it possible for two people living in the same house to never meet? I kept hoping to see Nana's reaction to Archer's return but the meeting never happened. Fourthly, the villain is hinted at having a disease and his motivation behind the treasure is also related to this disease but then nothing concrete is shown to us about his history, what ails him and the treasure is nothing related to this! It all got very confusing.
However, despite the above points, I did enjoy visualizing the luxury yacht, the exotic locales of Italy and the Greek Islands and the underwater beauty with crisp clarity of the water and abundant and varied fishes and sea plants. The best part of the story is Archer's past which held me captive and his eventual revisit to his past had me misty eyed and hoping for peace and happiness for him. The thrill of the chase to find the treasure and saving themselves from the cruel and cunning villain had me sitting up and swiftly turning the pages.
The author's writing style is simple and engaging but the plot while promising wasn't executed to its full potential. I was not satisfied with the points I highlighted above and so I think the plot could have been handled better. The romance part is great and I loved the emotions that the author is able to elicit from the readers but the mystery and suspense part needed work.
All in all, an entertaining story which took me places. 3.5 out of 5 to Treasured Secrets.
I received the book from the author and the tour organizers, CBB promotions and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
In ‘Treasured Secrets’ we meet Rosalina and Archer. Rosalina and Archer have been together for almost three years, and although they are very happy with each other there have always been secrets between them. Secrets about Archer’s nightmares and his past. After Archer had yet another nightmare, Rosalina was determined to find out more. Unfortunately Archer had decided that Rosalina was better off without him. Months later, when Rosalina is back in Italy she finds something in a Church that reminds her of Archer. Soon Rosalina and Archer are on a treasure hunt, and find themselves in danger from other treasure hunters. Life has a lot of surprises ready for them.
From the moment I started reading this book I was intrigued by the characters. Rosalina is such a passionate and kind person. I loved how all she really wanted was to help Archer, and make him see that love really is worth it. Archer was also very easy to like. He was just so completely sure that he was incapable of loving another person, that he tried to shut everyone out that came close to him.
But the thing I loved most about this book was the way it took place in Australia, Italy and the Greek Islands, and the treasure hunting. It was so fun to read about the characters finding clues about where the treasure could possibly be. I loved how Kendall Talbot combined the romance story with the treasure hunting. The one down part about this book for me, was the way the time went by really fast at times. One moment I was reading about Rosalina and Archer being a couple, the next they were broken up and Rosalina was back in Italy. It just felt a little sudden. It didn’t bother me so much that I didn’t like the book, I just found myself being surprised at times about how fast the time went by.
Overall I would really recommend this book to other romance novel lovers. It’s a perfect romantic read combined with mystery and action and an exciting treasure hunt. It was really a fun perfect weekend read.
Treasured Secrets opens with a heart pounding shark attack -- and a missing boat. The secrets keep compiling as you read further. Mystery and danger, action, adventure and humorous episodes reminiscent of popular movies such as National Treasure, the Indiana Jones movies and Fool's Gold kept me turning the pages. The trio of main characters are exceptionally well written. While each has their own talents, with grudging acceptance of each other's intelligence and skills, they all play a role in discovering clues. I will reread this to examine again the parallels between Archer's and Nox's lives. The treasure sought is both that lost decades before and Rosalina's love. This is a wonderful book for a club discussion group.
Rosalina has this magical talent with food. The descriptions are sensual. Rosa thinks in "food" terminology, thinking of a room's size as "big as a twenty table restaurant," and wanting to crush an idea "like pine nuts in a mortar and pestle." The men vying for her heart each have admirable qualities. Archer tries to keep many secrets, including his past, his nightmares and his wealth. Alessandro is much more forthcoming. Sometimes when he begins to speak he goes on and on. His developed mind and knowledge base can seem overwhelming. But he is a man you grow to respect and admire. The other characters in this novel add much to the experience, as do the location descriptions.
Although I was given this book in exchange for my honest review, the opinions expressed are 100% my own. I look forward to reading more by this author.
"Shark attacks here are incredibly rare, less than one per year. You’ve got more chance of being killed by a toaster.’ ‘Va bene.’ Alessandro huffed. ‘I think I’ll take my chances with a toaster.’"
For all those like Archer (and me!) who'll take the shark over the toaster...
Shipwrecks and sharks and diving and treasure hunting and romance and awesome food and medieval history? How could I not snap this book up the moment I saw it? Better yet, it was brilliant. I'm delighted to hear there's a series, because I definitely want more.
Having read Ms Talbot's Lost in Kakadu, I know she can bring you right into the heart of the characters, all the while transporting you to beautiful scenery that you see through the characters' eyes. I still wasn't prepared for how much I enjoyed this, though - from awesome underwater seascapes to the streets of Florence, complete with the aroma of Rosalina's amazing cooking. It's a heady mix, even without a centuries-old treasure hunt.
The treasure hunt is reminiscent of Dan Brown, Lara Croft or Indiana Jones, with plenty of action and adventure, though the romance elements (I shall give you no spoilers, so I can't say who this blossoms between) certainly take the edge off, making this more romantic suspense than a thriller. At one particularly nailbiting moment, I found my heart racing, wanting to stop reading because I couldn't stand to watch (read?) what was going to happen next, while at the same time absolutely needing to know...
This was a fast paced thrilling read with a good pinch of romance, a dash of mystery and a whole heap of beautiful scenery!
Archer and Rosalina are lovers that have parted ways, fed up with his constant hiding of his past she heads back to Italy.
Archer lives a luxurious life with his own yacht but he has many demons in his past and he can never bring himself to be truly open with Rosalina but the past never wants to stay there and his comes back to haunt him.
A drunken call from Rosalina one night sends Archer across the world to Italy and he hopes to start looking for a treasure from his past and rekindle his relationship, will he be able to do both?
Of course his treasure hunt is not going to go smoothly, some unsavoury types are on his trail as the story moves from Italy to the Greek Islands.
The story moves on very well but of course I'm not going to spoil it for you! Rosalina and Archer were enjoyable characters to be with, she is typical hot headed Italian and he was definitely more laid back sailor type but together they sizzled and their treasure hunt had almost a little bit of Dan Brown to it.
If you like your romance with a good hint of adventure and mystery then this is for you.
Thank you to Escape Publishing /CBB for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review
Really enjoy the whole treasure hunting aspect to this story; the history does slow the story down a bit, but it’s a fun premise! Also, love the second chance at romance for Archer and Rosalina. Lots of sweet and passion between these two! Archer’s parents were treasure hunters and that led to some bad things happening in Archer’s life when he was younger; he’s traumatized and that affects his current life. He’s feeling too close to Rosalina, so he decides to break up with her because he thinks she’ll be better off without him. Rosalina goes back home to Italy heartbroken, but finds something that has a connection to Archer’s past and a treasure. Archer travels to Italy to find out more about his past and how the treasure ties in, and because he still wants Rosalina. Unfortunately for him, Rosalina is angry at him and seems to have other romantic options. Archer, Rosalina, Rosalina’s “friend” Alessandro, and a couple of others end up on quite the adventure. Dangerous people out to cause problems for Archer and his group! I wasn’t a fan that Rosalina lied about Alessandro being her boyfriend and continues to let the lie go on; it’s really mean to Alessandro. I was getting ticked at Rosalina’s wishy washy attitude. Also, I don’t care for the side characters; not a fan of the Ginger and Alessandro thing. Why are these people trusting some random woman with all this information about a priceless treasure? Also, why aren’t they taking weapons into situations that they know will be dangerous? Seems rather stupid to me. Still an entertaining, fun read! Looking forward to reading the next one! Things aren’t fully solved in this book.
Treasure hunting and creepy, Italian priests. I loosely got Indiana Jones vibes from this; with a lack of raiding tombs, the story being more centred around the ocean and there wasn't a kickass protagonist.
Things I liked: + the author clearly loves and knows her boats. It was enjoyable to read about washing the salt off a boat after time at sea, and the sound of ropes hitting masts in a marina. Very atmospheric.
+ the main idea. Going on a treasure hunt, falling in love and a bit of mystery.
+ well-written and creepy antagonist
Things that I didn’t enjoy so much: + full of clichés! Some people will enjoy this aspect. Me? Not so much.
+ the romance. Particularly Rosa doing lots of talk about not making it easy for Archer after he broke her heart and he’s got to open up to me if anything is going to change and not much of actually sticking to that. Sort of ruined the suspense for me.
+ Archer’s backstory. It could have been more thought out and seemed a little too unrealistic at points.
Treasured Secrets took me a while to get through because the plot felt a bit wishy-washy but overall it was a fun read, full of adventure and cliches.
Archer has struggled for years with nightmares involving the last treasuring hunting dive he made with his father. A vicious shark attack ended his father's life that night, and Archer has spent years blaming his mother for dying just days after his father and leaving him to orphanages and foster homes until he was 18. The gold medallion he continues to wear is the only clue he has to the location of the treasure he and his father found that day. His bitterness has spoiled his relationships with women including Rosalina, the chef he hired to cook on his boat during his many fake treasure hunting excursions that he provides on his boat, the Evangeline. When she leaves Archer and goes back home to her grandmother's villa in Italy, a brief trip to a local church leads to the discovery of a stained glass window with an image identical to Archer's medallion. Rosalina realizes she will have to contact Archer to let him know about her find.
Treasured Secrets is full of mystery, romance, and adventure. The detailed descriptions of the locations including Italy, Australia, and the Greek Isles adds interest and depth to story even though many of the events are based on coincidence. The ugly villain, Nox is a little over the top, and the other characters are a bit one dimensional, but the fun factor in the rest of the story more than makes up its shortcomings. Overall, a quick and enjoyable read.
Treasured Secrets - This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed it immensely. There are multiple storylines that range over a period of time and lay the foundation to this series. This book does not end in a cliffhanger but there are two more books.
The story is well written and the author has a laid back, easy to read style. The pace is continuously eating up the pages that keep the reader immersed and involved until the end.
The main characters are well developed and their mature dialogues are realistic. There are a couple of quick sex scenes and rare vulgar language, for those who care about this information. Written sex is boring and I don't care for vulgar. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*
Breathless Encounters - This is a collection of short stories, which have a paragraph at the end of each explaining the source of their inspiration. Well written and quickly read in one sitting. Perfect for a coffee break or a cuppa and a snuggle with a fur baby. 5*
The Blue Diamond - It is not what she, or her step-siblings, think it is, but she thanks her Poppa for everything he left her.
Stolen Love - Beautiful story but so sad.
Creepy Neighbor - Disguised, a hidden blessing.
The Plumbers Secret - A cute beginning to a sweet romance. Delightful.
Charlie’s Angel - The beginning of the romance of the parents of the author.
The defining incident or perhaps I could say the coat hanger upon which the plot and character development and in fact everything of a book relies, usually comes at the beginning in the first few lines or the first chapter, at least in the genre of books I have been reading.
This book starts out with an underwater shark incident which begins as a nightmare but turns out to be something that really happened, as well as a metaphor for many things.
If there needed to be an inciting incident to keep me going, by the ‘rules’ of writing fiction, then Kendall Talbot majestically ignores these rules and just goes for it. And I am still reading, desperate to find out what the heck this is all about.
Finally we come to the defining incident. It is every bit as bad as the shark attack in the first few paragraphs suggests.
Now I really needed to know where it went to from there. I was hooked. Great work. Want more? Read the book. You won’t be disapppointed.
I absolutely adored this book and am so excited to continue the series. It was a fast-paced adventure with just enough romance to have me in all the feels.
The main character Archer struggles with his relationship or lack there of while trying to make peace with his past. All of this leads to mystery and treasure and the hunt of a lifetime. I was very pleased that the Rosalina and Archer relationship part of the story did not overpower the adventure and treasure hunting in the story. Instead, it complemented it perfectly. It was just enough romance to have me invested. Talbot does a great job with making their relationship real and not so simple that it’s laughable. I was able to really connect with Rosalina. I love that she is such a strong woman.
I was quickly attached to all of the characters. There are a few that I know will hold more secrets to be exposed in the next book. I’m so excited to learn more from someone important to Archer *wink* *wink* I also want to know what the treasure is!!!
Overall, this book was a quick and easy read. It was easy to connect to the characters and to the story. It was fast-paced and fun. The perfect book to pick up and escape into an adventure with.
Wow! Treasured Secrets, the first book in the Treasure Hunters Series by Kendall Talbot put this author as one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense thrillers. This is not the first series I have read by her, so I knew going in the story would have a tightly constructed, riveting plot with multifaceted characters. I have not even finished reading chapter one when I knew this was going to be a electrifying, maybe terrifying read. I was so glad that Archer and Rosalina were going to take me along for the ride.
Even as the family was coming into the room that I was reading in, saying come on and do something with us, I found myself not able to pry the e-reader out of my hands. Usually this is not a problem because I love my family and enjoy my time doing things with them. My answer was, “But they are still in Italy, meaning Archer and Rosalina, I can’t abandon them yet.” I believe that I have found the answer to the problems of sheltering at home; go globetrotting with a set of Kendall Talbot characters. It worked for me.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
OMGosh!!! This book was such a suspenseful one that it is a good thing that I don’t have a heart condition. The suspense and mystery kept me up well into the night. Unfortunately I would have to re-read several pages to remember what exactly happened from where I left off! (I’m old with fuzzy eyesight late at night!) Besides it was no hardship to re-read any scene. In fact, I would re-read several as I felt the author was giving a clue that may help me with the mystery.
The author is new to me but I felt like I have read her before. This was phenomenal the way the plot would twist and turn. There were times that I would have perished if I was with Archer and company in their quest to uncover the pendant’s secret!
The author really did a good job with the sexy scenes as it was almost a fade to black type of scenario.
I truly hope that all the characters are in the next several and not just Archer and Rosalina. I have grown attached to all of them!
This is a book that I would recommend to anyone who loves mystery and suspense with their romance (even those who don’t read romance. GASP!)
Kendall promised action, adventure and romance in her Treasure Hunters series, well Treasured Secrets definitely delivered! The love triangle in the beginning was enough to capture my attention. It’s the classic man let’s women go, then flies half way around the world to rectify his mistake only to find her with another man scenario. But the way Kendall was able to weave this story into one of action and adventure was something else! The whole priest, crypt and kidnapping twist in the story early on was something I did not see coming. I throughly enjoyed following this unlikely trio and the contribution of their individual skill set to ultimately uncovering a historical treasure. Fast pace and exciting throughout, a real page turner! If you love the movie National Treasure, you will love this book! And bonus, the love triangle resolves so everyone gets a happy ending. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Treasured Secrets Book One Treasure Hunter Series Kendall Talbot This one starts with cryptic nightmares and a break up. Rosalina an Italian native fell in love with Archer, a boy from Oz. Archer, a second generation treasure hunter is drawn to Rosalind’s country to try to solve the mystery of his nightmares. Only to become entangled with an ancient sinister mystery and suspicious order of priests guarding a church. Dan Brown/ Indiana Jones / National Treasure / Fools Gold vibes at one point or another. I kept getting confused with the timeline and found parts quite tedious unfortunately. I persisted to the end only to find a cliffhanger. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, the main characters did get their hea for now so all is not lost. But I don’t think I loved it enough to find out what happens next, sorry. I loved the authentic Australian characters and flair that the author has brought to this round the world adventure. I received an arc of this book. 3 stars
Archer screamed seeing his dad grabbed by a shark but it was a dream one he had every night, Rosaline as usual was right there with him soothing and coaxing through his torture. The story is of love lost and gained horror excitement the whole works written in the way to pull you in and keep you there. Rosaline the love of Archers life lost almost to Alessandro, jimmy his best friend and Ginger his boat companion, Nox the evil one who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the treasure he thinks he has a right to. Then there’s Wade Archers father lost during a treasure hunt believing his mother was dead too then finding her alive though not well, like the title says treasured secrets they are all here. I recommend this book for lovers of lovers with lots of excitement
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but really enjoyed it, there was a mysterious medallion, treasure to be found, love to be won back, some creepy bad guys including one you will smell before you see them along with great friends and one hell of an adventure. Rosalina and Archer are fantastic and you get why both are the way they are and how they end up breaking up but that attraction is still there, then there is Alessandro with his massive amount of sometimes useless information lol and Jimmy ready for an adventure and a good drink or two. This is not all treasure hunting though it is also about Archer finding out more on what happened to him and his family years ago when he first found the medallion and it isn't all rainbows and sunshine.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who doesn’t love a treasure hunt? Treasured Secrets is the opening novel in Kendall Talbot’s romantic mystery series and takes the reader on an adventure from Australia to Tuscany and the Greek Islands. The story moves quickly and the pacing helps to build anticipation with new clues being discovered and leading the team closer to ultimately uncovering the treasure. The main characters (Archer and Rosalina) are realistic and relatable and despite some serious relationship issues the reader hopes that there will be a happy resolution for them. Dialogue throughout the story flows easily as good conversations should. You will become invested in the search for treasure as well as the future of the characters. A novel for lovers of romance as well as those who enjoy an element of mystery. Looking forward to the next instalment in Treasured Lies.
