Silverback: The 9/11 Memoir

Rate this book
An eyewitness account of September 11th, the most infamous attack on America since Pearl Harbor, and a work of imaginative literature, this is the story of a reckless young man’s battle with the demons of his drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, and the existential emptiness that continues to permeate modern society. Yet, through his suffering, he awakens to the redemptive power of art and love.Twenty years in the making, this sad, sexy and surreal memoir gathers the spirit of ancient mythology, modern philosophy, jazz, rock, and pop culture into a defiant howl on behalf of that unlucky generation of young Americans who stood by helpless as forces beyond their control tore their world apart.

I read this book in one sitting. It had everything I like in a book - drama, humor, romance, intrigue. It was thought provoking. I truly appreciate the author's first hand account of his experience on 9/11. It was like I was there. I've never read anything like it before. Definitely pick this one up.
