Hawk thought he had everything he wanted until Lexington Waters showed up. That’s when he discovered he needed so much more.

Tech Guru Lexi Waters needs to snatch her company out of the grasp of her greedy ex-husband. The only problem is the restraining order that keeps her away from the business she built from the ground up. With no money left to her name, Lexi is forced to go back to Chicago and face the first man to ever let her down—blues legend Sugarfoot Moe Waters, her father. While she’s stuck fixing up his crappy bar, the last thing she needs to deal with is a pushy, arrogant professional hockey player—Hawthorne Maze, aka Hawk. Hopefully the gorgeous distraction won’t derail everything she has worked so hard for.

From the outside looking in, Hawk’s life seems perfect. Professionally, he’s at the top of his field, and personally, he has his pick of any groupie. Orphaned by teenage parents, he only knows is that his mom is white and his dad black. Other than that, there are only two people he considers family—his childhood friend Gavin Knox and geriatric bar owner Moe. He thinks he knows everything about the famous blues artist, but the sudden appearance of his hot-ass daughter is not only unexpected but also unwanted. Contemplating retirement, Hawk needs to figure out what to do next, but fate keeps throwing the sexy egghead Lexi in his path.

Reader advisory: This book contains incidents of revenge porn, racial slurs by minor characters, and scenes of blackmail and emotional abuse.

Hawk is the third book in the Perfect Stats series combining sports, romance, family and friends, and an intriguing battle to fight for your dreams.

Lexington "Lexi" Waters is a smart, independent woman who made some made choices in her life. Namely, her ex-husband Josh Stewart has taken everything from her including the company she created with her innovative tech skills. Fighting a trumped-up restraining order she is battling for what's hers, but Josh plays dirty. As she tries to keep a low profile and rebuild her life by renovating her father's blues bar, she meets Hawthorne "Hawk" Maze, a professional hockey player. He's arrogant, sexy, and good for a booty call or two, but Lexi was not going to lose herself to a man again. Big fail!

The ice arena is Hawk's sanctuary. He worked hard for his career and dreaming about a hot nerdy woman is making him nervous. Lexi is one of the smart girls he swore he would not pursue. But when she opens up about her past and he sees firsthand what her ex is doing, his protective instincts take over and he realizes he wants her by his side. Now, if only he can convince her of that.

Lexi and Hawk are destined for each other with the whole opposites attract thing. They also have some fantastic friends who support them and have their backs. Hawk is a sweetheart with his love of eighties movies and his adorable interactions with Gavin's kids. He's had a tough life as a bi-racial kid raised in foster care and a minority in the game of hockey, but he tolerates the young rookies and has a great fan base.  Lexi's never felt very feminine with her techie background, no girlfriends, and a douche for an ex, so Hawk's caring nature and attentiveness is a pleasant surprise. It in no way makes her weak but helps her realize that there are good men out there who can support her in anything she does.

The supporting characters are a definite plus in this book. Knox and Andre are like family to Hawk and their women are a great lifeline for Lexi with all she's going through. By the way, the whole dodgeball charity benefit was a hoot, and kudos to Lexi for coming out on top of that one. LOL

If you love sports romances with jocks falling for nerds, friends, and family protecting their own, and nasty exes getting what they deserve, give this fun and sexy book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Malloy for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Hawk by Amber Malloy is the third book in the Perfect Stats Series. This series combines sports, romance and intrigue in an exceptional combination of twisty goodness. How good you ask? So good that after starting this ARC (before I finished reading the entire book) I PURCHASED the previous two books in the series. Hawthorne Maze, hockey star, is a bit of a loner. Orphaned when he was a baby, he loves three things, blues man Moe, hockey, and his best friend Knox (Knox's story is in book 2). Hawk has made Moe’s blues bar his official hangout. When Moe’s daughter arrives at the bar to take over while Moe is sick, Hawk is thrown for a loop. First of all, he didn’t know Moe had a daughter AND she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Ousted Tech Guru Lexi Waters has come to her father’s blues club in Chicago for several reasons: to hide out, to avoid her snake of an ex, and to fight for her company. She is not looking for the complications AND temptations that Hawk presents. Their attraction to each is hot and real but they are not looking for relationships but what happens when the feelings are more than they can contain? I absolutely loved this story; the dialogue and the characters were stellar. I hope Ms. Malloy is working on a story for Marco.

Do you want comedy? Romance? Intrigue? Friendships that never die? Because Hawk has all that and more. It’s a beautiful mix of laugh-out-loud moments, swoonworthy yet cheesy romantic bits, a group of friends who would do anything for each other, and an ex-husband who needs to be taught a lesson.

As a fan of 80s movies, I thought Hawk’s love of movies like Flashdance to be adorable. For a big, tough hockey player, inside he was a marshmallow (in a really awesome way). I can’t think of anyone more perfect for Lexi.

Lexi has brains, beauty, and a snarky personality I adored. As the creator of the SugarTech apps and founder of the company, she learned the hard way to take no prisoners and fight for her dreams. But with Hawk, there was a carefree side to her.

If you want to laugh, cry, scream, and sigh with utter contentment, you can’t go wrong with Hawk by Amber Malloy. Five stars, two thumbs up, and zero rotten tomatoes. A fabulous read that will you with a smile on your face (and possibly the desire to go watch a hockey game).

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hawk is an aging pro hockey player who moonlights as a bad bartender, takes an immediate issue with Lexi, the long lost daughter of the bar owner, who is back in town and running the blues bar.

This story was just a little too drawn out with little that made an impact on me. I lost interest in this couple. Hawk was too moody and Lexi too secretive.

There are so many characters it was hard to keep up with who was who. I would have loved more development of Lexi and Hawk actually building a relationship. There were secrets all over and I didn’t understand why stuff was so hidden on Lexi’s part and her past.

Kudos though for giving me some characters to hate. I wanted to reach through the book and slap Lexi’s useless lawyer and Hawk’s teammates that held the party.

Loved the book it was great, the story and the çharacter were fantastic. Lexington (Lexi) Tech Guru set up her own company but her ex-husband was taking everything off her, her company he got a restraining order so she could not go near her company. Her ex even sent a video saying there is more. Hawk loves going to see Moe thought of him as a father, and is a professional Hockey player Northern Royals Chicago, Hawk loves going to Sugarfoot Moe Waters dirty Bar. After the bad start between Lexi and Hawk but once Hawk had a bit of history on Lexi his attitude changed.

Having not read the first 2 books in the Perfect Stats series, I had no problem with this book, so these can be read as stand alone books. This books is about "Hawk" Maze and Lexi Waters. When Lexi returns home to help her ailing father with his bar, she meets Hawk. Hawk is drawn to Lexi but while that attraction is real, neither is looking for relationship. In fact Lexi is fighting with her sleazy ex to get back her tech company. But try as they might, it's hard to resist chemistry. The book is fast paced, great dialogue, steam, and more. Well done.

Hot, sexy and hard to put down.

Hawk is exactly how I like my romance, hot, naughty and full of strong characters.

Not only is Hawk a hot ice hockey player but he's a kind hearted man with a love for blues and jazz. He loves Moe, the owner of Moe's, like a father, which is why discovering that he has a daughter is all the more of a surprise for him.

Lexington Waters is a strong, independent woman with an a*shole ex-husband. She consistently pushes herself forward, which I think is a big part of what Hawk finds attractive.

It's great to see a support network that not only has Hawks back but gladly steps in and accepts Lexington.

After an incident with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Lexi was put under arrest, was put under court-ordered restraint, and was literally left with nothing. She was banished, and, two months later, found herself working a bar with debt up to her eyeballs.

Then in walks Hawk, the arrogant and sexy hockey player.

The writing was pretty good and the story held a good pace, even though it lagged in certain areas. The romance between the two characters was sizzling and enjoyable, but honestly their backstory a little too complex at times.

Overall a nice read.

My heart went out to Lexi from the start with the trouble from her ex. She did get a bit too standoffish for a bit, a little harsh, but once good things happened to her, she found her groove. The support from all the secondary characters was wonderful to see, and they were definitely entertaining. Hawk was actually a sweetheart with a very gruff exterior, but he grew on me. I enjoyed the story as Lexi and Hawk got closer and her problems disappeared.

What a heart clencher. I could totally relate to Lexi. This is such an emotional read. The relationship between Lexi and Hawk was combustible. Her relationship with jer father was interesting as well. Great read with great storyline and characters. Love this series. Read to find out what happens and if she is able to get her company back as she and Hawk gets close.

Amber Malloy gives readers a feel good ‘80s salute to romance in Hawk. I love it!

Hawk is an amazing hockey player, but he is all about ‘80s rom-coms and apparently was way too influenced by them. This gives Malloy an opportunity to allow me to reminisce and to give the story a sweetness to reflect a nostalgic period for Hawk. It also balances the negativity of what is happening to Lexi in her professional/personal life.
