Disappointed in her life, Nelly has come to a small village surrounded by hills and trees to work in a restaurant and hide from the world. During one of her walks, she comes across a dark and ominous house in the middle of the forest. An accident forces her to ask its inhabitant for help, who turns out to be a man Nelly feels connected to more than she likes to admit. As they grow closer, unfortunate events and the fear of repeating their mistakes endangers their chance for happiness. Will they be brave enough to trust another human being again with their secrets and their hearts?

About the author

Coming from a family of avid readers, Verena Key started writing because of the way certain places made her feel - as if they were a backdrop for stories that somebody needed to tell. She lives and works in German countryside, surrounded by nature, and that is where her inspiration comes from. The characters in her stories are ordinary people and far from perfect, but, as any of us, they too fight for their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. None of them is a vampire. Yet.

I'm not really a fan of romances, but this one caught my attention. Maybe I think of nature as magic? In the book, I loved the atmosphere and the small town setting where the main character finds herself, and I could really appreciate her love of the forest. I enjoyed the ride.
This book is perfect for people who love a simple story, and who want a romance without graphic sexual content.

I enjoyed this book, but it was not spicy enough! The buildup and tension was done so well and then the scene we were all waiting for was just glossed over lol

worth the read

Nice story with enough adventure to keep me interested. I enjoyed the snarky banter and depth of relationship building throughout the story.
