Kingdoms divided, Kings playing one against the other, with a deep loathing of magic entrenched, although who can blame them, magic was used to subjugate,  it was used for evil purposes, it has caused most to distrust magic and want to eradicate it all together. A slight problem though, Anaros is betrothed to a witch, a witch who saved his kingdom and King Lenear to boot, which has Lenear, once against her and magic, firmly on her side. But it's not enough.


Anaros has shown considerable growth in this book, he is slowly getting the hang of being King. He's still prone to self doubt but his resolve is strengthening. He's still ultra protective of Zynnera, which is driving her up the wall! She is determined to uncover the meaning of her visions, much to Anaros' distress. Which, I suppose, is warranted, Zynnera does fall into a coma each time she has a vision, for days on end. But she's stubborn, she's convinced the visions are important. I love how she won't be swayed by anyone, besides, she is plagued further by her nightmares, which feel so real...I do enjoy the complex relationship Anaros and Zynnera have, it's shaping up so beautifully, one can feel the love and concern between them. 


Hachseeva is just the best character ever! She's funny, she's sensible, she's generous and a true friend. She has the ability to smooth over everything, saying exactly what needs said, love her. As is Rhemeus, he's hilarious!


Not as fast paced and action packed as the previous two books, it centres around Zynnera's visions and nightmares, which give invaluable insight into the past, into what made Morzaun go from a gentle kind person into a horror. What he endured was really the pits! Greed, power grabbing, all come alive in this third installment. Off to book 4! I'm looking forward to Zynnera unravelling truth, I know for a fact the journey to try stop the evil wanting to surface is going to be an exciting one!

Bearing the heavy burden of a difficult task, our heroes Anaros and Zynnera struggle forward. But they find the journey forward is no easier than the road that they had traveled before, and pressure mounts as evil grows nearer and the responsibility they bear grows larger.

Anaros is dealing with a council of king, who focus on fear of Zynnera’s origins and abilities instead of the approaching darkness that must be confronted and not ignored. Anaros is beset with whether to stand by his beloved and lose reputation of the neighboring kings, or separate himself and gain the approval and aid of the kings that could restore his kingdom. Can he risk defiance?

Zynnera struggles as she faces a difficult path forward: she must understand the evil that corrupted and created their foe. This journey will take her to places dark and dreary that she wishes to never venture. And she runs the risk of losing both her purity and her beloved Anaros’s trust.

This book explores the need for strong relationships and bonds to uphold you through the struggles and conflicts of life. Both Anaros and Zynnera must stand together, even if they do not agree on the path or the method.

Origins of Virgam greets us with familiar characters, the cast back together to face a new danger and old foes.
