This book talks about the interesting and difficult situations, every parents faces when babies are born till they reach 6 months. Being a pediatrician himself the author explains every situation from breastfeeding to complementary food so vividly.
This book has many interesting facts about babies. One of those I admired was babies have brown fats under their skin till two years of age to regulate their body temperature. It has pretty much everything helpful to grow a healthy baby. This book would be so useful to parents who have newborn babies. Others like me who are interested in knowing about babies and their activities can also pick this book.
You can find the review on my IG @savi_0207_ About the author :- "Newborn babies - little enigmas" by Dr. R.P Bansal , who is a consultant paediatrician in the city of Chandigarh.
About the book :- The book is specifically for new parents ( anyone can read it) . The book aims to provide the reader with an insight into the newborn's wonderful life in an enchanting way.
Book Summary :- A new born is an enigma, a bundle of joy and a gift of nature. For the family, the new arrival marks the culmination of their prayers and dreams. For thee lucky mother, child-birth is life-changing and a self-actualization event. No stone is left unturned by the parents in choosing the right environment, clothing, food and everything else for the little one. Despite all their intentions and efforts, the parents of a new born may face an to cope up with such times.
Writing style :- The book is written in an interesting way so that it'll be engaging to the parents or the readers. It shows some scenes from the life of the baby. This book has 6 sections that explains 'the saga of first six months' of the baby.
Somethings I liked :- The author has talked about 'Gudti', which is the name given to the belief that 'the baby would take after the character and qualities of the person giving gudati' in some parts of India and honey has the most exalted place among various fluids used for this purpose. The author has talked about how he, as being a qualified paediatrician had studied about honey causing botulism ( a sort of paralysis) , especially if given to newborn babies. He has shown how 'first taste' or 'Gudti' has no place in modern baby care practice and should be firmly resisted as it may cause some infection or injury to the tender body of the hapless newborn!
Some interesting queries are also answered like 'when do the baby start hearing and seeing' , 'when can a baby be taken in an aeroplane' and all other stuffs that are related to the baby and baby care.
Conclusion :- The book is good and the author's hardwork can be seen throughout the book. But it's more specified to newborn baby's parents or people who are expecting a baby. (If you know such people, do recommend this book to them) But I'll not recommend this book to everyone, unless they are newborn baby's parents or are interested in paediatrician studies or parenting.
Assalamu Alaikum 😊, 'A newborn is an enigma, a bundle of joy and a gift of nature' - lines from the book

NEWBORN BABIES, LITTLE ENIGMAS BY DR. R. P. BANSAL
This is a self help book regarding the common problems faced in new borns. Dr. R.P. Bansal is a famous Indian paediatrician and this book is his way of educating his patients and other people regarding child care. Reading this book felt very nostalgic to me. It took me back to the days of my paediatric internship when this was all commonly seen everyday in the ward.
The book is divided neatly into many chapters of common newborn physiological conditions, the conditions that should worry the parents, health issues faced during toddler and adolescent stage. It covers entirely from newborn care, breast feeding, physiological issues to paediatric diseases.
PROS: Every medical condition is explained in simple and understandable terms. This book is a myth buster - It’s common for new parents to be worried regarding every symptom that develops in a neonate. Hence, they end up consulting google treatments or self medicate or follow home remedies which may be harmful. This book has given a clear picture of every condition, so you can avoid all the above mentioned situations. This may even be helpful for paramedics and midwives. Pretty cover page and indexed very well for quick reference. The author has also shared several case scenarios and case studies for references.
CONS: This is a must read for new parents or parents to be or to anyone who has kids at home (to all the uncles and aunts) or around. I am not being partial but this book is perfect for this genre.
On 19 Oct 2021, by God's grace we welcomed a little baby girl in our lives and ever since I met her first, I was in love with the innocence of her eyes. This was my first encounter with a new born and the experience has been amazing but of course there are so many things that are happening once a baby is born and everything is chaotic, no one understands why they're crying or what they want and what's normal and what's not. I luckily came across this book and I feel so blessed to have discovered it. . . This is a total guide about parenting the new born babies since day one till six months, Dr Bansal did a great job in making the new parents understand about the needs of a new born and how to tackle their problems effortlessly. Since, I personally witnessed the chaotic situation, I will say this book personally helped me and my sister's family. . . From the changes that were happening in her bodies to why she is not taking milk and how to feed and how much to feed, how to massage and when to start it, this book has it all. . . I never came across a book that is this helpful, this book is really a blessing for new parents and their family. I bet this one will help you to the fullest, if you're a new mom or mom to be then please don't miss it out.
I honest insist to give it a try. Highly recommended. . Rating: 4.5⭐️

In Newborn Babies: Little Enigmas, Dr R.P Bansal addresses the problems faced by parents of newborn babies and presents the solutions that will surely put them at ease. There are six sections in it, each dealing with a different kind of problem. Dr Bansal never beats around the bush, and that’s the best thing about reading his book. The descriptions are always precise and concise. He busts a lot of myths, which are prevalent in Indian households. **** This book serves its purpose very well. The only thing where I can recommend some improvement is the grammar. There were a lot of punctuation errors, most of which were common mistakes. **** All in all, Newborn Babies: Little Enigmas is very illuminating. It is well-written and well-informed, presented to the reader in as easy and simple terms as possible. This one is a must-read for parents who are ready to welcome, or have already welcomed, a newborn in their lives.
"He makes eye contact with the person he interacts with."

This book is one of the best book till now I've found about babies and in depth too. Talks about the jaundice, milk in the nipples, what mistakes not to commit, about the weight of the infant, fictitious fever, vomitting, diarrhoea, coughing, crying baby. Well explained about the transition of a born baby to a six month healthy baby, about how new the change be's for a mother too, how important the role of a doctor is, the best book for parents expecting a child.
The most significant thing I concluded from this book is the personal advice coming from the author, the detailed description of everything is worth to read for all the newly parents. This book contains and covers all important topics and discussion of that phase. This book is indeed, worth to read.
