"Squint," Margit Novack's unique memoir, opens our eyes to the abundant possibilities of later life. She pairs profound and memorable personal stories with larger themes -- downsizing, caregiving, forgiveness, estrangement, and more -- and shows that with the right perspective and "re-visioning," the future is rich with possibility. Realistic, compassionate, substantive, and uplifting, Margit Novack's "Squint" is a guidebook that leaves us better equipped for the years ahead.
This book must have ended up on my shelf from my days in the organizing industry. Margit is co-founder of NASSM (national association of senior move managers) which is a cousin to NAPO (national association of productivity and organizing professionals)
Her storytelling and bites of insight and wisdom are worth the read. It was engaging and I got unexpectedly emotional during certain chapters.
Highly recommend for anyone going through the inevitable phase of dealing with aging either personally or of a close family member.11
I absolutely loved this book! I related personally and professionally to many of the Margit’s experiences related to aging. I nodded in agreement as she faced family and work challenges with flexibility, compassion and a little tough love.
A must read for those recently retired and considering downsizing. Margit flows through with personal stories, professional tales and helps the reader understanding their aging family and themselves, who are facing the changes that occur in the second half of life.
